The Beginning

Hello. My name is Achilles, son of Peleus and Thetis. I am and will always be the fiercest warrior in history. I died after Paris shot me in the heel, because I suppose he was mad at me for killing Hector. I was trying to help Brisas off the ground. After I said my goodbye to Bresis, I watched her be dragged along by Paris as they escaped the fallen city of Troy.

Before I set my feet upon the ship, I knew that my glory would walk hand in hand with my doom. I also knew that the gods envied us for this moment. When mortals realized they were going to die. I was beginning to be able to see the bank of the River Styx. As I heard the footsteps of soldiers finding me, I closed my eyes and became apart of the dead.

My spirit ended before the judges. I saw as they debated my deeds, deciding where I would spend my eternity. After much debating I suppose, they said I would spend my eternity in Elysium and if I wanted I could be reborn. For now, I decided to stay in Elysium and somewhat enjoy my death. Soon after I got there, however, I realized that there was no fighting and figured that I would be bored for all eternity. I didn't see Agamemnon or Menelaus, so I figured they wouldn't be bothering me.

I don't remember how long I was down in Elysium before I had enough of partying, and went to the judges to see if I could be reborn. As I walked down to the judges, I looked around me. There were so many people, so many that I couldn't see any of the actual underworld except for the dark, dusty, dry soil. After what seems like an eternity, I had made my way up to the line.

"What do you wish to ask great Achilles? You have been judged already and got Elysium. What else do you wish?", a judge says.

"I wish to seek rebirth.", I said loudly, but clearly.

"Ah, well you may Achilles. After you leave here, take a swim in the River Lethe so you will not remember who you are. You won't have any of your old memories. You won't remember anything of your past. Are you sure you wish to continue through?", another judge stated.

"Yes, I am sure I wish to go through with it.", I said once more.

"Very well, great Achilles. I wish you luck, see you when your new soul dies." the final judge said.

After the conversation was over, I slowly walked away, I pondered my memories of my life. My mother, Patroclus, killing Hector, saying goodbye to Bresis, leaving for Troy, my last words to Eudorus, my final conversation with Odysseus. All those memories and more, spinning around, twisting and turning in my head. As I got to the banks of the Lethe, I saw their faces and said my unanswered goodbyes and took my first step into the Lethe.
