During the day
So fun! This world gives you such training like an invisible teacher training you to the limit, although that, so fun.
I've already mastered the basics and was going to start doing the elements until I was, like, suddenly pulled back to my real world.
"Aurora-sama! Aurora-sama! Wake up!" A maid cried.
I let out a little cry and woke up to my usual baby self. I want to say 'what?' but I reminded myself I am a baby! I don't want to bring any attention as a prodigy. So annoying!
"Hush, little baby. It's feeding time," the maid soothed and I was brought to the dining room where my parents and brother are already eating.
The maid made me sit next to my brother, Clover, who upon seeing me, smiled and ruffled my hair.
I pouted and tried to do something to him but all he did was lean away from me and I couldn't do anything. I pouted again and all Clover did was stick his tongue out to me.
"Clover!" Mother reprimanded and Clover just wink his eye with the birthmark, clover, on it.
You can see how he got his name.
Though I can't wait to grow older...
3 years later... <'coz of Aurora's wish>
Wow! 3 years went by so fast! I'm now a cheerful little girl that always prances around the mansion and being friendly to everyone in sight.
"Aww..." that's what I always hear the maids and butlers day when I chatted with them and prance.
It's also very obvious why.
I've grown with long beautiful white hair that hugs my body so comfortably. It's like a fluffy teddy bear and my ice blue eyes always shine like diamonds. Ice is beautiful, after all and my body has a cute shape with this angelic face.
I'm a power house! Only Mom seems to be immune to it. She always smiles at me and lightly scolds me to stop prancing and walk like a lady.
Hello! I'm a 3 year old child. But this time, Mom seems to be taking no more nonsense. She has hired an etiquette tutor to refine me into a better lady.
When I heard that, I cried to Dad to tell him to please not bring me into etiquette lessons with puppy dog eyes and asked whether he wanted an elegant lady or the cute girl standing before him.
Dad froze up, his face blushing red that it was on fire and steam almost shot out of his ears. He said, "Ro, of course I want the cu-" "Ahem!"
Mom was standing behind him, a look of warning.
"The elegant lady, of course!" Dad said, appeasing Mom.
Dad, how could you...?! Apparently, Mom is stronger than my cuteness! No wonder she was the only one able to resist.
The good news, it will be a few weeks before she ever comes here. A few more weeks of freedom to savour.
Right now, I was just minding my time in the library reading up the magical creatures of the world. There are cute ones that I would most certainly keep as pets but dangerous ones that you should stay far away unless you are experienced.
I was about to start another book, mostly fiction of a light mystery. It's no Sherlock Holmes but it will do.
Then, BAM!
The doors open and unflinchingly, I looked towards them.
There in all his glory was my brother, Clover who grew up handsomer with his light blond hair, sky blue eyes and a face that made all the maids blush a hot red.
But he was also a great leader since he could walk the talk that made Dad proudly say that his son would grow up a great heir to his fortune. Everybody respected and admired him.
Well, everybody except me.
Whatever he did was mostly a show for the adults. Around me, he was as playful and teasing as he ever was all those three years ago.
"Hey, Ro," Clover said, taking the book out of my hands, (Hey!)I looked at him and he smiled, "When are you gonna train up and become like your awesome big brother?"
I just snatched the book out of his hands and continued reading. A year ago, my brother had been reading all the books he can on magic to cultivate them until he finally got them.
Thanks to that, he was quite powerful for his age. People his age are lvl 10F- 20SS but he's lvl 25S. How do I know? I can sense his aura, everyone can sense other's aura once they obtained magic. However, nobody knows about mine because I concealed mines. Perks of being a cheat character.
"When Mother stops scolding me about etiquette, but that's not possible, is it?" I answered.
Clover laughed, "May be she'll stop when you tone down that attitude sometimes."
I laughed too. Then, I turned serious. "Aren't you supposed to be training?"
Ever since my brother got his magic powers, Mom and Dad got him an instructor to help cultivate his basic magic, so his true magic will get stronger. Sometimes I watched them train. I use the techniques from the instructor to help my own training sometimes, you know, in the Mindscape.
"I'm just taking a break, is it wrong for me to see my little sister?" Clover asked, smiling and ruffling my hair... again.
"Well," I said, sensing something, "looks like your break," the door bangs open, "is over." I finished, standing up and bowing to the newcomer.
Clover looked at my direction and made a 'yip' sound. He tried to do a runner, but of course, that failed miserably.
"Not the ear, Master!" Clover cried.
"Good afternoon, Mason-sensei," I greeted politely.
"Good afternoon, Aurora-san." He said in reply while still twisting Clover's ear. He's one of the only people who still call me Aurora instead of Ro.
"Now, Clover," Mason-sama said, without bothering to use any honorifics, "Who told you to sneak out and leave training. Punishment: Increase training thousand-fold!"
"No, Master!" Clover shouted, but of course, Master ignored.
Pretty much your average day here. Thank God I could conceal my magic, otherwise I would suffer just like my brother.
I continued reading my mystery while Clover was dragged away by Master.
The book was pretty interesting, not very like our world but hey, I'm not picky. Though, I wished for a computer and TV, which the elves have not invented!
FYI, the elves had always invented our technology so you could say this world is halfway there thanks to them. They even invented a radio! Why haven't they invented the TV and computer yet?
Maybe if I had reincarnated thousand years later...
Man, kinda cruel, but I could live. Speaking of radio, though...
Bookmarking the book, I got up, a bit cheery. I could just feel the vibe in me.
Walking around the mansion, servants once again bowed at me while I waved cheerfully at them as I headed back to my room.
Obviously, as a rich aristocrat, my room was big with a big bed with white blue sheets and white pillows where a cute fluffy teddy bear sat.
I also have a closet opposite the bed with too much clothes for a three year old, but as Mom said, 'you are never too young to have too much clothes'.
I laughed a bit. Seriously, I loved Mom and all, she can be nice but she is just too strict! Even stricter than my own mom before reincarnation and that was saying something.
Because mother before reincarnation had banned me playing the computer until once a day, refused to let me have a phone until I went to college while my lil sis can have a freakin' iPad at just SEVEN years old and cancelled our TV subscription when I was 12 because of my lil' sis education. How is that fair?!
How is that not strict?! I could not believe that there would be someone more strict than her, but I was so wrong.
Who else but a VERY strict person would sign their poor girl up to social etiquette classes this early?!
I want to claim my rights!
However, there are days when I am put out, I could count on one thing...
You see, Dad came back with it in one of his business trips as a gift for Clover. I was extremely surprised to see it, thought the world never had such things.
It was a guitar and in good condition but after Clover tried out once or twice, he gave up on it and I asked whether I can have it.
So, after a bit of teasing and pouting, he let me and I tried. Everyone was very surprised that I could play well, a little tune that Mom used to sing to me for bedtime when she was in a very good mood, which is kinda rarely. That woman has a few issues.
Ever since then, everyone said I had a gift. Mom however was not very happy. She rather I played the piano and almost forced me to get rid of the guitar.
In this case, Dad was successful with the argument and I've played whatever I liked on it ever since.
A worm was going in my head and the song just pops out as I hummed it while thrummed the guitar. Other than books, this is a very good thing and unlike books, I can just relax very deeply and let the song infuse through me without focusing too much.
I was midway when there was a knock at my door.
"Yes?" I asked. It's definitely not Clover, he would have barged in straight away but even then, I doubt it's him. Once Master sets his punishment, well... the rest of the day is taken... brutally. It's a wonder he was still alive and Master has been training him for half a year only!
The door opened and I sighed in relief when it was not Mom but Dad, who unfortunately, was smiling a bit painfully.
That could only mean one thing: Mom has sent him as messenger for bad news I don't want and which Mom doesn't bother to send because she's hosting her tea parties Dad never attends.
"Hey, Ro," Dad said, a bit happy he's relaxed with the kids, "Can I come in?"
"Yes, come in," I said.
He came in and shut the door, sitting at one of my chairs facing me.
"So what song was that?" He asked. So starting with casual conversation.
"I dunno, but it came from a dream, I think," I lied, better safe than sorry. Don't want him to know this song was from where I was really born. Sometimes, can't help it that I used those songs.
"The song portrayed a white clad thief and a blond detective clashing together," I summarised, pretending to remember hard about it."The only words I remember are 'it's a showtime'" I continued.
Dad smiled. "It's a showtime, indeed! That was a great song."
"Thanks Dad," I chirped. "Do you want to hear another song?" I started holding up the guitar.
"Er... not now," Dad said, a bit discomfited, "Do you remember your etiquette lessons your Mother assigned?"
I frowned a bit, "Yeah, why?"
"Well, apparently, the etiquette instructor is able to speed up her process here and is able to get here by tomorrow," Dad said it delicately.
I was shocked at first, but then it sink in and I shouted to the heavens, "TOMORROW!"
Dad winced and a second later, my door burst open without invitation. It was Mom.
"Good heavens, what is the fuss about?" Mom tittered and looked first at Dad, then settled on me.
"Seriously, girl, everyone thought an attack happened. Can you even behave like a lady once in a while? Thank God the instructor is coming tomorrow!"
Hearing from Mom made it a thousand times worse.
"How come the instructor can get here so fast?" I asked, extremely dour.
"Well, you see, some fool left a teleportation device along her path. All she needs to do now was to get to a teleportation checkpoint and she can be here the next day."
FYI, teleportation devices were made by elves which are pretty rare. You need to be in town where they set up a special teleportation spot, because it needs the magic aura from the town, to teleport wherever you like.
Anyway, darn! There goes my weeks of freedom.
She looked at my face. "Oh, seriously, Aurora, this is not the end of the world. I expect you up early to meet her at 7 and start your first lesson."
Without further ado, she left and with a look of sympathy at me, Dad left too and shut the door.
God! Hours of sleep wasted on this. I struck up a fast and emotional song. What Mom does not know was this was the end of the world for me!
Oh, why can I not be born a commoner?
