——- AFTER A LONG DAY ON THE ROAD WITH HER TWO SIBLINGS, Maddie was exhausted, but she knew she had to meet Damon, for whatever reason, she didn't know. So Maddie had gotten up, and gotten herself dressed. "Hales, you coming?" Maddie asked her aunt, once she reached the foyer in the kitchen. Haley Gilbert was sitting on the counter, sipping her coffee. "Yep, let's see what Damon wants." Haley scowled and hopped off. "Aunt J, we're heading to Damon's!" Maddie yelled, knowing Elena was with Stefan. "Okay, have fun!" Jenna called back, making both of them chuckle. "Come on." Maddie pulled Haley's hand, out towards her car.

As Maddie pulled into the boarding house's driveway, she sensed her aunt had been quiet. "Haley, what's wrong?" She asked. Haley turned to her niece. "I, should be asking you that." Haley mused, raising an eyebrow. "Come on, Damon isn't that bad." Maddie sighed, climbing out of her car, Haley following behind. Eventually, Maddie and Haley found Damon in the library, digging through several, and tossing them. Maddie raised an eyebrow. "Good morning, sister, young Gilbert. What can I be of service, today?" Damon muttered sarcastically, distracted. "Well, what are you looking for?" Maddie asked, walking towards Damon, setting a plate of breakfast that she'd bought from Mystic Grill on the way there. Damon scowled at his sister, then contemplating on the answer. "Not your concern." Damon told her, not looking at her. "Um, yes it is my concern, as your only sister, it is." Maddie defended, folding her arms. Damon finally glanced up at his sister, sighing. "I'm looking for something of mine.. sort of." Damon paused in mid-sentence. Maddie rose an eyebrow. "So, technically you putting both of my nieces in harms way, taking them out of the state to Atlanta, which is very considerate of you, yet your here trying to what?" Haley pointed a finger as she stepped down the steps towards the couch. Damon's gaze following her move. Maddie bitten her lip to prevent from speaking up. Stefan, then by his presence answered. "He's finding a way to bring Katherine back." Damon scowled at his younger brother. Maddie walked towards him, giving a hug. "I get it though. You're bitter because one of you gets to be with the person that you love, and poor Katherine is just out of reach." Stefan taunted his brother, causing Maddie to smack his head. "Be nice, Damon's hurting too." She told him softly. Damon looked away, flipping through books. Maddie started to grab a book, flipping along with Haley.

Maddie sighed, walking into the kitchen, to make sandwiches, her stomach grumbling. "Don't you, have school?" Damon asked his sister, whom followed into the kitchen. "Yeah, I'm going, don't worry." Maddie grabbed an apple, and her bag that she had left that night, walking towards the front door. "See you later, come again soon!" Damon told her, who laughed. Haley followed her niece towards her car. "I'll keep an eye out, I gotta finish my classes too." She scowled, considering switching schools. "You should." Maddie leaned up, kissing her cheek, climbing in her car, driving away with music blasting loudly.

Once she reached the school, Haley walked towards the office, as a girl walked to towards Maddie. "Mr. Saltzman wants to see you." Maddie nodded, walking towards his classroom. Maddie knocked on the door as students were leaving. Jeremy glanced over, getting ready to leave. Alaric gestured Maddie to sit down, as she walked toward Jeremy, taking a seat next to his desk. Alaric dropped a packet in front of him. Jeremy picked it up, looking it over. Fact or Fiction: The Myths of Mystic Falls, By: Jeremy Gilbert and Maddie Gilbert — There was a large, red "A" surrounded by a circle. Jeremy smiled. Maddie cheered happily. "I'm so proud, so would aunt J and Hales." Maddie smirked cheekily. Jeremy smiled softly. "Surprised?" Alaric asked, cutting in. "It's a good essay. I could even see when one of you took over taking notes to add to, good job on that part. Your thoughts were clear, and your arguments are well laid out. It's just, uh, you don't actually think there are vampires or werewolves in Mystic Falls?" Jeremy and Maddie shared a secret look. "No." Jeremy answered. "I mean, we think statistically, there's been more animal attacks, mysterious deaths, people gone missing, more than any other place in the whole commonwealth of Virginia." Maddie told Alaric, finishing the statement Jeremy started. Alaric day at his desk, smiling. "It's conjecture, but creative, which is why you guys got the 'A'. I just wouldn't get too, uh, caught up in the whole conspiracy theory of it all." Jeremy nodded understandingly. Maddie stayed silent. "Ah, I won't." Jeremy told him, standing. Maddie followed, grabbing her bag. "I think it's fascinating if there was other mysterious creatures besides vampires and werewolves, maybe there's witches too." Maddie chirped in, knowing full well there are such. Alaric furrowed his eyebrows, confused by her statement. Jeremy stood, walking toward the door. "Oh, uh, Jeremy, the sources that you cited for the 1860s info, Jonathon Gilbert and George Lockwood." Alaric told Jeremy. "It's also by our ancestors, their journals, well mine anyways, the Salvatore and Petrova as well." Maddie informed Alaric, who seemed surprised by the fact. "Uh, I'd really like to see that sometime." Alaric told him. "Really?" Jeremy asked. "First person account of the Civil War?" Alaric asked. "And not from one perspective, but two? That's like, uh, porn for a history teacher." Jeremy turned to Maddie, who nodded as she opened Jeremy's bag, pulling out the Gilbert Journal. "You think the essay's creative, wait til you get a hold of this thing." Jeremy told Alaric, putting the journal he taken from Maddie, on the desk. "I don't know where the Salvatore and Petrova journals are, but I have a journal from 1860s, but it's like a diary." Maddie explained when Alaric turned to her. "It's personal diary of Madelyn Salvatore, my ancestor." Maddie lied smoothly at the last bit. Jeremy knew the truth, but Alaric didn't. Alaric nodded in understanding. "Thank you." Alaric told him, picking up the journal. Jeremy nodded to Alaric, turning around, walking out of the room. Maddie smiled softly, nodding towards Alaric, as she followed Jeremy out the door.

Maddie noticed Haley glancing at her new schedule. Haley Gilbert officially enrolled to Mystic Falls High instead of North Carolina, where she had intended to go to Duke, but gave up for her junior year of school. "So, anything new on your front?" Maddie stepped up by Haley, glancing over the schedule. Haley smirked. "Besides me missing cheer, and North Carolina, I've got you, Elena, Jeremy and Jenna, I'm good." Haley told her niece. Everyone in Mystic Falls knew Haley Gilbert, the younger sister of Grayson Gilbert, the aunt of Maddie, Elena and Jeremy. Maddie laughed. "Ooh, Stefan gave me something to you, I already gave one to Jeremy when I reached here." Maddie dug into her bag, pulled out a bracelet. The bracelet was a charm bracelet with initials of her family with their birthstone gem in the middle. Inside a locket of Maddie's initial stone, was filled with vervain. Haley smirked, knowing what's in it. "Honey, I drink it everyday in my tea." She told Maddie. Maddie smirked. "You never know, I drink vervain too." Maddie gestured to the locket that belonged to her in the previous life. Haley nodded, clasping the bracelet on her left wrist. Maddie smiled, leaning against the wall, going over the schedules.

As Maddie sat with Bonnie and Elena at the table, at the Grill. Maddie was eating curly fries. "I can't believe you and Maddie are adopted." Bonnie told Elena. "I never saw that coming." Maddie smiled. "Me neither, apparently it gets weirder." Elena stole a curly fry. "I looked at our birth certificates. If lists Miranda and Grayson Gilbert as our birth parents. None of it makes sense." Elena finished for Maddie. Bonnie frowned. Maddie nodded in agreement. "I actually found out about a while ago, and I dug through our ancestry. Mine... mine is.." Maddie struggled to find a word, Elena opened mouthed at her in shock. "You knew?" Elena asked. Maddie seemed guilty. "Stefan and Damon told me, because I—." Maddie cut herself off, conflicted on explaining. Elena and Bonnie's eyes softened up. "It's okay, we get it." Elena interrupted, causing Maddie to sigh. "Which is why you should ask Jenna, Elena." Bonnie told her. Maddie nodded. "Maybe she has journals of why? I mean on my ancestral journal, there was a mention of an adoption, but it must've been mine." Maddie lied, twisting a few facts. Elena nodded. "First of all, the Elena I know would always want the real truth, good or bad." Maddie raised an eyebrow. "And second of all?" Elena asked. "You just found out your boyfriend is a vampire, so unless your birth parents are aliens..." Bonnie trailed off. Maddie giggled, holding her hand to her mouth. Elena chuckled, glancing at her sister. "How bad could it be? And third of all..." Bonnie looked towards the entrance of the Grill. "Who is he?" Maddie and Elena glanced towards over towards the entrance. Maddie's eyes lit up at the person, standing up. "Apparently Maddie knows." Elena murmured, confused. "Isaiah!" Maddie cheered happily. Elena and Bonnie frowned. Elena mouthed, "Isaiah" which Bonnie shrugged. Both teens watching their interaction.

Maddie laughed, hugging Isaiah. "What are you doing here?" She asked, furrowing her eyebrows. Isaiah gave a smirk and his eyes lit brighter. "Well, Love, my family and I moved back in awhile ago." He shrugged, placing his hands into his pockets. "Wanna sit for awhile?" Maddie gestured to where her sister and Bonnie was sitting. Isaiah nodded, smiling. Maddie grabbed his hand, leading towards their table. "Lena, Bonnie, this is my friend Isaiah I was talking about the other day." Maddie introduced. "Isaiah, this is my older sister, Elena and best friend Bonnie Bennett." Isaiah frowned in confusion, but quickly covered up. "Ladies." Isaiah's British voice came through, shocking both girls. "It's nice to meet you." Elena told him softly, nodding. Bonnie smiled, nodded in agreement. "Well, ladies, I hate to bother, parents need me to unpack. Maddie, I'd suppose you'd be my tour guide tomorrow?" He asked, hopeful in his tone. Maddie smiled wide. "Of course!" Maddie gotten up, hugged Isaiah as he nodded to the girls, and turned around, walking away. Isaiah had to seek answers, and keep an eye on someone who was a danger to his girl.

Later that night, Maddie was laying in her bed, with a diary in her hands. She knew this was one of the first diaries that she-or Myana had written. Maddie had taken a breath, taking the string that tied the parchment, unraveled it. "Dear diary, it is mid-year of early morning. Greece is a beautiful city, I wish to explore, but Qetisyah would not allow me too. I had been practicing my Traveler's magic, but it seems to be impossible. I dream of mother and papa each night, but I cannot help but miss them. I knew the evils that roam this earth, I knew that Qetisyah had detested my mother, for cheating with my papa. My papa had tricked her into a elixir for immortality. I wish I seen them once more..." Maddie furrowed her eyebrows as the ink seemed to spilled over. Maddie sighed, as she sat the diary down, glancing out the window, questioning every single lie that she's heard. She unconsciously picked at her necklace, that Stefan had given her, just gazing out the window at the moon gazing in the night sky.

The next morning went downhill after Stefan had woken up Maddie explaining about recent events. Maddie grumbled and Stefan had promised breakfast if Damon made pancakes. So Maddie was there at the boarding house, eating pancakes as she listened to Elena and Stefan talk about an stalker. "Why me?" Elena asked, confused. "What does he want with me? A—and if he's trying to kill me, then why call first?" Maddie noticed Stefan walking around the couch, facing Elena. "That's because they're predators, Lena. They hunt, they stalk. It's often as they think it's exciting as the kill." Maddie added her input, causing Elena to frown, and Stefan along with Damon giving a gentle smile. Maddie finished the last few bites of the pancakes before walking into the kitchen, washing the plate and fork, before putting it away. "What happened to it?" Maddie heard Elena ask. Maddie furrowed her eyebrows as she walked back into the foyer, seeing Elena holding the Gilbert watch. Maddie widened her eyes. "Well, it's not just a watch." Stefan explained. Damon caught Maddie's look and nodded as if realizing what it was. "It's a—it's a sort of compass, but it points to vampires." Stefan took Elena's hand in his own, showing them how the compass worked. The needle whirred around the compass, finally clicking into place, pointing at Stefan. Elena and Maddie looked at Stefan in shock. "Why did our father have it?" Maddie asked. "Gilbert's were one of the Founding Families, and back in 1864, they were among those who sought to eradicate the vampires." Stefan continued to explain. "The compass was used to find us." Maddie gasped as the needle whirred around and clicked when it pointed at Damon. "Did you know them?" Elena asked. Stefan nodded. "Yes. I want you to keep this. That way, you'll know if you're ever in danger." Elena smiled a small smile, taking Stefan's hand in her own. Maddie smiled softly at her brother and sister, leaning against the back of the couch. The needle whirred once more around on the compass, finally clicking into place, pointing at Stefan. Stefan and Damon glanced at their sister, giving a small smile.

After awhile, Maddie pulled into the Grill, and she walked inside. She found Jeremy and her friend Anna. "Hey big bro, whatcha doing?" She asked, as he was talking to Anna. Jeremy and Anna turned to see Maddie. Anna had this far away glance as if remembering something. "I'm Maddie Gilbert, and you are?" Maddie introduced, quoting her inner Hermione Granger. Jeremy chuckled. Anna frowned in confusion. "Anna." She smiled, shaking her hand. "I—I was just leaving." Anna smiled sadly, turning to Jeremy who nodded and waved. Anna walked away, seemingly in a hurry. Maddie frowned in confusion. "Uh, Jer?" Jeremy grabbed his bag, walking away, leaving. Maddie quickly followed. "Jer?" She asked. Jeremy paused, stopping as he waited for his sister. "What's going on?" She asked as they both started to walk again. Jeremy sighed, glancing over. "Just tired, come on, let's go home." Maddie didn't say anything, but followed nevertheless.

After trying to figure out what Jeremy was up too, she gave up and instead met up with her aunt Haley, whom was with Damon and Stefan at the boarding house. As she pulled in, she heard voices. "You got the hair right." Haley told Stefan, as Damon snickered. Maddie walked in, and smiled as she watched her aunt and brothers interact. She stayed silent. Stefan set a journal, on the desk in front of Damon. "Why are you giving me dad's journal?" Damon asked. Haley glanced over at Maddie who had her eyes furrowed. "Because you were looking for it." Stefan answered, already noticed Maddie since she walked in. "And why would I want it?" Damon asked. "Gee, I don't know, Day." Maddie walked in, causing both Stefan and Damon to turn to the incomer. "Maybe you want to do a little bit of posthumous bonding." Maddie told him sarcastically. Haley smirked, looking towards Maddie, amused. "Go ahead." Stefan told Damon, ignoring Maddie. "Enjoy it. Read it. I have. Nowhere in it does it say anything about Katherine or the tomb or how to open it." Maddie raised an eyebrow in disbelief, Haley's eyes widened. "I'm not surprised." Damon told Stefan and Maddie. "The man could barely spell his name." Maddie eyes furrowed as she concentrated on a memory. Haley turned to her niece, a frown upon her face. "I'm really sorry that it won't be of any help with your diabolical plan: the sequel." Haley told Damon. Damon smiled at Haley, not finding her amusing. "You know, I could help you." Stefan intercepted. Haley and Damon turned to Stefan. Maddie gasped out loud, stumbling over. The three turned to Maddie, concern on their faces. "Maddie?" Haley asked, waving the two brothers off. Maddie shook her head. "You help me?" Damon's voice intercepted Maddie. "I don't know. It seems a little unnatural." Maddie sat down on the sofa beside Haley as Stefan and Damon faced one another. "I'll do anything to get you out of this town." Stefan told him, leaning forward against the desk. Maddie raised an eyebrow, confused when she glanced at her aunt, whom shook her head. "Even release Katherine." Maddie eyes widened at the mention of the elder vampire. "What about the other 27 vampires?" Damon asked. Maddie raised an eyebrow in shock and fear. Stefan glanced over at his sister, a frown upon his face. Haley noticed and turned to Damon. "No, no, they can't come." Haley told Damon. Damon scowled at Haley, whom discreetly nodded her head toward Maddie, which caused Damon to glance over. He frowned when he saw the shock and realized what he had said. "If you're getting Katherine, who may or may not be in the tomb, out of the tomb, you should at least consider finding Alissa." Haley commented. Maddie raised an eyebrow in suspicion and curiosity. Damon's eyes hardened and a frown appeared, as if in thought. Stefan and Maddie glanced at Haley for a moment, nodding. "Fine. But the other vampire, they have to stay out. Katherine and Alissa... I would consider that." Maddie smiled. "Besides, Alissa is our sister in-law and she may be dead, but if she's alive, I'd rather have her than Katherine toying you two." Maddie commented, causing the brothers to smile softly. Haley smiled. Damon was more suspicious, not aiming Maddie. "What are you doing? Hmm? What's your angle?" Stefan shook his head. "Think about it." Damon scoffed, looking at his work. "Why would I trust you?" Haley stood, pointing at Damon. "See, that's your problem, Damon. You apply all of your shortcomings to everybody else." She tilted her head, backing away. "If history is any indication, there's only one liar among us." Haley smirked, turning around, causing a surprise from Maddie. "Wow, my aunt is kind of right..." Maddie murmured as in a question. Stefan and Damon blinked, turning to Maddie, eyes furrowed.

Maddie was in her bedroom, getting ready for the dance that night. She held the bracelet that Stefan had given her, along with the vervain that Damon had given her to refresh the herbs. Maddie sighed as she noticed Elena in the bathroom, dressed for the dance, adding the finishing touches to her '50s hairstyle, blow drying her hair, pulling a round brush through it. Neither sister noticed the Gilbert watch whirling around, pointing at the closet. Maddie opened the closet door, but no one was there. The needle started whirring again. Maddie retrieved a pink scarf from a hanger to match her top, closing the door, walking toward the bedroom doorway, looking out into the hall. "Hey, Haley, Jeremy, Jenna?" There was no answer. The needle continued to spin around. Elena looked at the compass. "Uh, Maddie?" Maddie turned to Elena, eyes raised. Maddie followed Elena's gaze, noticing the needle spinning out of control, walking toward the bed quickly, picking it up. Maddie's eyes widened. "Call Stefan." Maddie told her sister, who dialed his number. Maddie grabbed her phone, dialing Damon. They both walked out of the room towards the living room. Meanwhile at the boarding house, Damon was still sitting at the desk in the library. He heard Stefan's phone ringing, standing, walking toward it, picking it up, and answering. "Stefan's phone. How may I help you?" At the same time his own phone was ringing. Eyes furrowed, he grabbed his phone from his pocket, seeing Maddie calling, he answered and putting it on speaker. "Maddie?" He answered. "Where is Stefan?" Maddie asked first on the other line, followed by. "Where is he?" Damon could tell that Maddie was somewhat frantic, causing his eyebrow to furrow. "He's on his way to you." Damon answered Elena. "Forgot his phone." He answered Maddie. Both Elena and Maddie stopped in the living room. Elena sighed. "Oh, thank God. This compass was spinning." Right above the two girls, the vampire was braced to the ceiling, looking down to Elena and Maddie. "Stefan must be here." Maddie answered, sighing in relief. "But he isn't the only one." She somehow knew there was another. Damon's eyes furrowed in confusion. "Thank you." Elena told Damon, ignoring Maddie's comment. "You're welcome." Damon told Elena. She hung up. Maddie stepped backward, still on the phone with Damon. "Day?" She murmured. The vampire jumped down from the ceiling. Elena and Maddie turned to face him, gasping. The vampire grabbed Elena, trying to bite her neck. Maddie screamed. "Maddie!" Damon jumped from his seat, papers falling into the floor. "No!" Maddie screamed. "Elena!" Stefan rushed inside, pulling the vampire away from Elena, throwing him over the couch. Maddie felt dizzy as she swayed. Elena lost her balance, falling. Stefan caught Elena in her arms before she fell to the floor. Stefan looked at them worriedly. The vampire stood, rushing around Stefan to the double doors of the family room, through the kitchen, down the hall and out the front door, slamming it closed behind him. Stefan rushed out of the house to follow him, after he set Elena down. Maddie swayed a bit, but held Elena worriedly, scared. "Are you okay? Are you okay?" Elena looked at the front door, still worried that the vampire would return. "Madelyn!" Damon's voice toned into the speaker phone, causing Maddie to pick it up, breathing heavily. "Day.." She mumbled, falling as Stefan rushed in time to catch her. Maddie lost consciousness. "Maddie!" Elena and Stefan yelled. Damon rushed towards the Gilbert house.

As Damon called Haley back to the house. Damon, Haley and Stefan were standing or pacing in the living room as Elena sat, Maddie laying on the couch unconscious. "What happened?" Haley frowned at her niece as she gently prodded hair from her face. Damon frowned worriedly. Everyone in the room noticed his emotion change, and smiled sadly. A knock was heard as Stefan frowned, confused to who would come that night. He walked toward the front door and opened. Stefan's eyes widened in shock. "Y..you're supposed to be dead." He told the person. Damon frowned, confused. "Stefan?" Elena asked worriedly. Haley and Elena glanced at one another. "Perhaps I can help with Madelyn's condition." The voice that the Gilbert girls recognized. "Isaiah." Haley breathed in relief. Both Stefan and Damon turned to Haley standing behind them. Stefan widened his eyes as he remembered. "Come on in." Haley invited in, unaware of another vampire presence. "Thank you, Miss. Gilbert. I have received a phone call from Madelyn instating I return, although, I confess, I'm confused to what had happened?" Isaiah walked in, toward the family room. Isaiah paused at seeing Maddie laying unconscious. He sped walked towards them, a frown mirrored on his face. "We don't know, there was a rogue vampire." Isaiah nodded, turning to the others occupied in the room. "How did he get in?" He asked. "He was invited in." Elena answered. "My nephew invited him inside, unaware that he was a vampire, like yourself." Haley explained. Damon and Stefan tensed. Isaiah gave a brooding smile. "Very eye opening, how'd you configure?" Isaiah raised an eyebrow. "Your familiar with my niece, by stating Madelyn, therefore you must knew her long before this life." Haley summarized. Damon and Stefan switched their eyes from Isaiah to Haley. "It is true, I am a vampire. I'd be helpful if you kept this from Madelyn, until I confess myself to her. I'd admit I knew her as a human." Isaiah told the others. Stefan and Damon would agree to his terms as he confess he'd tell soon. "I can agree." Haley told Isaiah. "But why did Jeremy invite him in?" Isaiah asked. "He posed as a pizza delivery guy last night." Stefan answered. Isaiah tilted his head. "Well, he gets points for that." His lips twitched, amused. "Did he say what he wanted?" Isaiah turned to Elena. "No." She answered. "He was too busy trying to kill us." Isaiah turned to Damon. "And you have no idea who this is?" Damon frowned, eyes furrowed. "No." He answered. "Although Maddie had mentioned that there was someone else there besides Stefan and the girls." Isaiah hummed. "Madelyn did have a sixth sense involving vampires, it seems that it had been advanced in this lifetime." Isaiah commented. "She didn't sense them when we were human?" Stefan admitted, confused. Isaiah gave a noble nod. "Perhaps because she did not have the Petrova blood. She was born with your bloodline, thus dormant." Isaiah concluded, still in theory. "I'm hardly convinced that you don't know, Damon." Haley told Damon, who gave an exasperated gaze. "Don't look at me like that, I told you we had company." Damon told her. Haley rolled her eyes. "That's why it's too dangerous for you, Maddie and Elena to be home alone right now." Stefan told them. "Sure, this guy seems like he's just after Elena, and something cause Maddie to fall unconscious, but we have no idea who this guy is, or if he's trying to get revenge against the three of us by attacking them. And if that's so, then they might go after you, too, Haley. And we don't know if he's alone." Stefan told Haley and Damon. "You think there's more than one?" Elena asked. "We don't know." Damon told them. "He was invited inside." Isaiah commented. Haley nodded in agreement, giving both Damon and Stefan a significant look. Damon and Stefan nodded, knowing what they meant. "Then we get him tonight." Damon told them. He looked at Elena. "You up for it?" Elena looked at Maddie, who was now groaning. "I am, if she can do it too." Damon glanced at Maddie, eyes softening. "Day.." Maddie mumbled. "What do we have to do?" Elena asked. "Let your boyfriend take you the dance." Damon told them. "Isaiah and I will handle Maddie." Damon turned to Isaiah, who nodded agreeing. "We'll see who shows up." Haley told them. "That's a bad a idea, Damon, Haley." Stefan told the two. "Til we get him, this house isn't safe." Isaiah told him. "For anyone who lives in it, it's worth a shot." Haley added, her aunt instincts kicking in. Elena nodded in agreement. A groan alerted of Maddie's uprising. Isaiah, Damon, Haley, and Stefan turned to Maddie. "D..day?" Maddie mumbled, blinking her eyes in confusion, then her eyes widened. "The vampire!" She sat up, eyes wide as she glanced around the room, until landed on Isaiah.

She breathed heavily as she glanced at Isaiah in happiness and shock. "You're back?" She asked confused. Isaiah gave a small smile. "I was with my elder brother once I got your phone call. We, however was on a lead, in France. Although, we never managed to find what we've been looking for. My brother does tell me he said hello." Isaiah bowed his head, giving a gentle smile. Maddie sighed, sitting up. "You're a vampire, aren't you.. because when I passed out... I had a memory." Maddie glanced over Isaiah. Damon and Stefan immediately rushed back in, Haley and Elena following behind. "About?" Haley asked her niece, who sat next to Maddie. "My life as Sienna, I was in a village with Sofia, Tatia and a young boy that resembled them, Tatum. I remember Isaiah and a man named Elijah." Maddie started to explain. "I know that Sienna had fallen for Isaiah, as well as Sofia for Elijah and Tatia pinned after all three of them. No offense, but you didn't deserve Tatia's treatment. Even Tatum would've told you that." Maddie told Isaiah the last part. Isaiah nodded. Maddie went into detail about Sofia and Sienna's bonding as Tatia spent time with the three brothers, and Tatum was frustrated because he had lost his mother to them. Isaiah stayed silent, knowing he'd reveal the secret to them soon enough. "Guys." Elena piped in, glancing at the clock. "It's time." Haley told them. Maddie turned to Isaiah. "Would you be my date to the dance, Mr. Smith?" Maddie asked. Isaiah stood, gently grabbing her hand as he bowed, kissing her knuckles. "I'd be honored, Miss. Gilbert." Isaiah murmured. Haley and Elena smiled softly. Damon and Stefan both had scowls on their faces. "Alright, enough touchy touchy and more moving." Damon cut in, bending down and lifting Maddie by her waist and throwing her over the shoulder. "Damon!" Maddie laughed as Damon walked away, leaving everyone else amused. Isaiah smiled softly, knowing the truth will come sooner.

As Maddie entered the doors to the dance with Isaiah on her arm, followed by Haley and Damon, along with Elena and Stefan. They glanced over the dance, trying to spot any signs of danger. Maddie, Isaiah, Stefan and Damon walked further ahead, Haley decided to hold Elena back. "Are you sure you can do this, I can get Maddie and we can leave?" Haley asked her niece. Elena nodded her head. "You don't worry about me. You go find Damon, I see you eyeing him lately. And keep an out for Maddie and Jeremy?" Haley smiled softly, shaking her head. "I will, go have fun with Stef." Haley pushed Elena toward the dance floor where Stefan was, as Haley walked towards Damon. Maddie was out on the dance floor with Isaiah as he twirled her around. "Thank you.." Maddie softly told Isaiah, who smiled in return. "No problem, I see why you asked, I noticed Tyler Lockwood can't keep his eyes off you." He murmured, gripping her waist a bit tightly, but not tight for her to notice the difference. "Tyler and I.. we are complicated." Maddie confessed. "He's like my best friend." Maddie added in. Isaiah hummed, dancing with Maddie. Maddie smiled wide, laughing as the music was playing.

Haley noticed Damon's smile fading away, as Haley glanced over seeing Jenna and Alaric standing by, chaperoning. "Damon..." Haley warned them. But Damon ignored her, instead linking his arm with hers. "Hey, look at you." Damon heard Alaric tell Jenna. "I figured I'd stand out less if I dressed up." Jenna told him. Alaric chuckled. "Liar." Damon smirked, Haley stood idle, watching her nieces dancing, and her nephew was by the punch bowl. "Okay." Jenna told him. "I'm a sucker for the decade dance. I went to school here, you know. They do the '60s and the '70s, too, FYI." Damon chuckled lowly. Haley glanced over at Damon, amused knowing he was listening in. "It's impolite to listen in on others." Haley hissed. Damon turned to his dance and raised an eyebrow, with a signature smirk on his face. "Hush." Damon hissed, tilting his head. "Can't wait. Can I get you a drink? I hear the punch is real boss." Alaric asked Jenna. She smiled, as they laughed, walking off together. Damon scowled at the conversation. "May I have this dance, Miss. Gilbert?" Damon turned to Haley, who smiled softly. "My pleasure, Mr. Salvatore." Haley did a curtsy, which caused Damon's lip to twitch. Damon led her towards a slow dance song.

As Maddie and Isaiah paused dancing, Isaiah left Maddie with Elena as he walked to grab drinks. Caroline and Bonnie approached the girls. Maddie perked up. "Having fun, ladies?" She teased with a smile. "No." Caroline answered, sighing as she glanced over toward Stefan and Damon. "What's Damon doing here?" Bonnie's eyes furrowed as she trailed Caroline's gaze, Elena and Maddie shifted slightly. "And with Haley, of all people?" Bonnie added in. Elena and Maddie shifted gazes. "I asked Damon to come on my behalf, I didn't have a date, until Isaiah showed up, and it's fair that he's here, and Haley came with him too." Maddie told the girls, twisting a few words for Caroline. Bonnie knew the truth between Maddie and Damon. "I promise he'll behave." Elena added in. Caroline and Bonnie sighed. "So, is this a six some now? You guys and the Salvatore brothers and Isaiah Smith drooling?" Caroline looked at Maddie and Elena. Maddie closed her eyes, ridding of a picture of Damon and Stefan. Elena shook her head. "No, Damon came with Haley and Maddie, Stefan asked me." Elena told them, repeating her sister's words. Maddie could sense some sort of deja vu coming with Elena's s next words. "That's not going to happen, but if I'm going to be with Stefan, I'm going to have to learn how to tolerate Damon." Maddie sighed, knowing it's exactly what would happen. Maddie noticed Isaiah giving her a subtle glance, knowing he heard Elena. "I see Isaiah, I'm gonna ask for a dance." She murmured to her sister, who nodded. Maddie walked toward Isaiah, smiling softly.

As Maddie went to dance with Isaiah, after hearing the conversation, Damon walked toward Elena, Haley, Bonnie and Caroline. Damon smirked, turning to Haley. "Haley, wanna dance?" Elena and Stefan watched in amusement and smiled softly. Haley smiled, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear. "I'd love to, Damon." Haley turned to see her niece and Stefan smile. Damon held his arm out, Haley gently grabbed his elbow, following him as he led toward the dance floor. Behind the shadows, a vampire was standing there in the hoodie, watching them, and planning for the youngest Gilbert. The vampire smirked.

In the middle of the dance floor, Isaiah and Maddie were dancing. Maddie had her arms wrapped around Isaiah's neck, as his hands placed on her hips, looking around for any sign of the vampire. Isaiah caught Elena and Stefan in the similar position, and gave Stefan a mild shake, meaning he haven't seen it. Maddie glanced around, feeling watched. "Something's not right." Maddie murmured lowly. Isaiah and Stefan turned to Maddie in confusion. A few feet away, Damon turned his head from Haley to Maddie, a frown on his face. "I feel..." Maddie sighed. "I feel watched." Maddie told them. The three vampires glanced at one another, nodding. "Switch?" Isaiah turned to Damon, who nodded. Isaiah and Damon both twirled the girls into another set of arms. Damon caught Maddie as Isaiah caught Haley. Maddie sighed, as she glanced up at Damon, feeling relieved to be with her brother, somewhat safely. "It's okay." Damon murmured, brushing a piece of a fallen hair from Maddie's face. Maddie smiled softly. She turned to see Haley and Isaiah talk in hush tones. Damon caught Maddie's gaze. "They're making a plan to attract the vampire, your the target it seems." Damon brushed his lips against Maddie's forehead, since he was at least a foot taller then the girl. Maddie shook her head. "No, I can't, and don't bother with Elena." Maddie turned to see Stefan and Elena gazing around, dancing. Maddie watched Damon as he gazed over toward Elena and Stefan. Maddie knew that Damon was slowly falling for Elena, like once before. "Day, it's not worth fighting for Elena, what about Alissa? What if she's alive?" Maddie murmured. Damon knew that she was trying to help. "If she's alive, why didn't she find me?" Damon told her softly, his voice hardened a bit. Maddie winced, but understood his tone. "Maybe something happened, we can't all be around forever. I know that my life is complicated and I have, in some way, been on earth as a human for thousands of years, but eventually, my life will end one way or another." Maddie murmured, leaning her head against Damon's chest. Damon sighed, dancing as he gazed around, Maddie's words captivated his thoughts.

After Maddie shared a dance with Damon, she went to find her brother, feeling in the moment. She walked toward the punch table where Jeremy was working. She noticed Anna approach him, and she frowned in confusion. She knew somehow that Anna knew her, but she couldn't place how. Maddie went towards the snack table, a few feet away. She heard them talking. "You neglected to mention this was a theme party." Jeremy jumped in surprise. "What are you doing here?" He asked. Anna shrugged. "Seeing as you also neglected to invite me. I took matters into my own hands." Maddie frowned as she nipped on some crackers. "You're doing that thing again." Jeremy told Anna. "What thing would that be?" Anna asked. "The thing where you pretend we're dating even though we're not." Jeremy answered. Maddie choked, eyes widening in shock. Luckily, neither one of them noticed. Maddie felt a presence beside her and she noticed Damon showing concern. Maddie pressed a finger to her lips as she pointed toward Jeremy and Anna. "Get over yourself. Come on. I've never been to a school dance before. Humor me." Jeremy smiled as he walked Anna toward the dance floor. Maddie frowned. "Well.. she seemed familiar." She murmured, gazing after her brother and Anna's retreating figure. Damon hummed.

Isaiah had asked Maddie for another dance. "So, Miss. Gilbert, do you have any questions?" Isaiah asked, glancing down at Maddie. She hummed. "Did you know who my family is? Or was?" Maddie asked curiously, tilting her head a bit. Isaiah's smile faded a bit, thinking of an answer. "Yes and no." Isaiah paused. "I did know you, in another life. Along with your sisters." Isaiah murmured, taking her hand, twirling her around. Maddie raised an eyebrow. "How so?" Maddie asked. Isaiah smiled softly. "Sienna Petrov was a lot alike you, except she had more Petrov fire. Sofia and perhaps Katerina could tell you. Sienna grew up with two older sisters and a nephew. When I first laid eyes on her, I was breathless." Isaiah smiled softly. Maddie glanced up at him, listening. "Sienna was someone I was drawn to, although my elder brother was as well, but Sienna wasn't the only girl for him. Sienna hated her sister, Tatia once upon a time, because of my brother and I, how she strung us along. Elijah, however believed that Tatia truly loved her. Elijah had told me that the love he felt for Sienna was strictly platonic, and he wanted to protect her. And he did." Isaiah murmured. "Sofia, she..." Isaiah paused. Maddie waited as he gathered his thoughts. "She was similar to Elena and Katerina both, selfless, caring, sweet. The opposite of her twin sister." Maddie's eyes widened. Isaiah smirked. "Sofia and Tatia Petrov, identical twin sisters. As I'm to know, Sofia is in fact alive at this moment. But she is..." Isaiah struggled to find a word. "Complex. She is not exactly alike us, nor you." Isaiah finally settled with the reply. Maddie's eyes furrowed. "You mean, she isn't a vampire, nor a human?" Maddie asked curious. Isaiah smirked. "She is human, but not the way you think of." Isaiah smiled. Maddie sighed. "What happened to them?" She asked. Isaiah glanced down at the love of his life, hearing Damon whisper something. "Later, my love. Damon wishes to speak to me." Isaiah gently taken her hand, gently placing a kiss on her knuckles, and taking a bow. Maddie giggled, and blushed as Isaiah walked away.

Isaiah walked toward Damon with a confused face. Isaiah admitted that he came to like the brothers, but for Maddie's sake, he tries to get along. "Damon." Isaiah nodded. Damon nodded toward where Jeremy and Anna were. "Listen." Damon told him. Isaiah raised an eyebrow, but tilted his head just a bit, listening. "What are you doing here?" They both heard Jeremy ask. "Well, this is my first high school dance." Anna told him. "I just wanted to make the most of it. Oh, hey, sorry about what happened at the library." Anna told him. "It's fine." Jeremy shrugged her off, confused but curious. "Oh, before I forget." Anna paused. "Can I borrow your ancestor's journal?" Damon and Isaiah glanced at one another. "Which one?" Jeremy asked in confusion. Anna hid a confused expression, before shaking it away. "You said I can read it. Johnathan Gilbert's." Anna clarified. "Uh, I don't have it." Jeremy told her. Damon and Isaiah smirked. "Oh, well, obviously you didn't bring it here." Anna told him. Jeremy shook his head. "No." He told her. "I mean, I gave it to my history teacher." Anna raised an eyebrow, along with Damon and Isaiah. "Wait, why did you give it to him?" Anna asked. "Because he wanted to read it." Jeremy answered simply. Damon and Isaiah glanced at one another, confused and suspicion. "You shouldn't be giving that to just anybody." Anna told him. Isaiah had to admit, she was correct. Isaiah even had journals that he'd passed down to the Petrov bloodline, but only certain persons had it currently. "But I should give it to you?" Jeremy asked. "Loan." Anna corrected him. "Loan it to me." Jeremy shook his head. "Well, I loaned it to Mr. Saltzman." Jeremy told her, repeatedly. Then they both noticed Maddie coming toward them. Damon and Isaiah watched. "Maybe it's in his classroom." Anna told him. Damon and Isaiah's head alarms went off, suspicion raising. "We can get it back." Maddie furrowed her eyebrows. "Get what?" She asked. Jeremy and Anna turned to the said girl. "Oh, your ancestor's journal." Maddie raised an eyebrow. "Which one? I have three." She asked. Jeremy forgot that Maddie had an extra ancestor's journal, that had her name engraved on the cover. Damon and Isaiah smirked, knowing which journal she had. "Uh..." Anna paused. She noticed Damon and Isaiah. Isaiah noticed that Anna's eyes flared fear for a moment before it flashed away. "Forget it. I gotta go." Anna walked away quickly. Isaiah raised an eyebrow, turning to Damon. "We got a runner." Isaiah clapped his hands, smirking. Damon nodded. "Something's up, and definitely do with Alissa's father." He murmured. Isaiah knew who exactly Damon was talking about, but didn't say anything out loud. Isaiah flashed away to find Anna, without anyone but Damon and Maddie noticing.

Meanwhile, the unknown vampire watched Maddie dancing with Isaiah. The vampire knew Isaiah, for who he really was, but the vampire wasn't going to expose him, especially if Maddie did not know who Isaiah truly was. The unknown vampire stood idly, waiting for the perfect moment. Anna walked along the dark, deserted hall alone, until she noticed the vampire standing. The vampire looked at Anna with a devilish smile. "What are you doing?" He asked. "Trying to get the last journal, since we can't take Madelyn's, since it's a sacred one." Anna answered. The vampire's smile fell. "Your considering..." He trailed off. Anna gave him a look. Both of them unaware that they were being watched and heard. "As in sticking to the plan, something you're not doing." She sighed. "Leave the girls alone, leave Madelyn alone." Anna shook her head. "We don't know if she has her memories or not. We cannot out ourselves to her, unless she knows. As far as I'm concerned. Madelyn is Maddie Gilbert with no memories of her past, nor I." Anna told him. The vampire nodded slowly, accepting her answer. "And Elena is not Katherine." Anna looked at the vampire. "Okay? Katherine is in the tomb." The Vampire smirked. "I know, but until we open that tomb. I got Elena to play with." The vampire told her. "Don't be stupid." Anna hissed, eyes narrowed. "The girls are with the Salvatore's. And if I'm correct, Maddie is protected by a Mikaelson." Anna told him. The vampire faltered a bit. "They don't scare me." The Vampire told her. "They never have." Anna gave him a look. "Okay, maybe Isaiah, but the brothers don't scare me. If I'd known better, they should scare you, now that Madelyn has returned." The vampire smirked. "Please, no." Anna told him. "Don't do this. You're gonna ruin everything." The vampire ignored her words. "You got nothing to worry about." The vampire told her. "I'm not gonna let anything happen to you. You will get what you came for. Just let me have my fun." The vampire walked past Anna, pulling his hood over his head. Anna was left alone in the hallway.

Behind the shadows, Damon and Isaiah hid, and listened to the entire conversation. Isaiah already explained to Stefan and Damon years before who he really was, so Damon wasn't bothered. But what bothered the two, was the vampire and Anna were after their girls. Damon and Isaiah glanced at one another, giving a mild nod. Both of them walked back into the dance, undetected.

As soon as Damon and Isaiah walked back into the hallways, both of them didn't see Maddie, but they noticed Haley quickly walking towards them. Both of them were confused to see Haley's panicked expression. "Haley?" Damon asked. Haley casted her eyes towards the unknown male across the dance, who had a smirk, and a tight hold on Maddie. Damon and Isaiah raised their eyebrows. "Stefan and Elena left already, but it was a distraction." Haley told them. Isaiah slowly hid himself from all three of them, determined to grab Maddie and take her away. He heard Damon and Haley, along with the voice of the vampire who had Maddie. Although, the vampire did not want no harm, so he decided to tell Haley, even if she's surrounded by other vampires. "Here's what you're going to do." The vampire told her. Haley looked around for her for the source of the call. "There's an exit door behind you. You have five seconds. Come alone." The vampire told her. "No." Haley told him. "No way." Damon glanced around, seeing the exit that the vampire explained. Damon knew that Isaiah was also looking for a way to save Maddie. "Or your niece dies." The vampire told her. Haley looked at her niece, who seemed to stay quiet, her eyes puffy and red. The vampire bent down slowly, sniffing along her neck, smirking as he did so. "I can snap her neck so fast, I bet there's not even a witness. Now, start walking." Haley looked toward him in defiance and anger, backing away toward the door. "Don't you dare lay another finger on my niece." The vampire ignored her. Damon watched Haley go, as he stood idle by another exit. "Keep walking." The vampire told her. "Through the door." Haley backed away toward the door. The vampire walked past other students, his arm around Maddie's waist, pretending that they were one another dates for the night. Maddie knew the dangers, but kept quiet as she knew Damon and Isaiah were near. But Maddie was worried for her aunt. Haley was worried, continuing to watch them until she was satisfied that the vampire wouldn't harm her niece, hanging up, turning around, running out of the door. Damon rushed out of the other exit, Isaiah following soon after. The vampire smirked, hanging up, following her. "Your aunt is beautiful." The vampire whispered into Maddie's ear. Maddie just stayed silent, following the vampire.

Haley walked across the room, knowing that Damon and Isaiah were both nearby. She was trying to open another set of doors. They were also locked. Haley sighed. The vampire opened a set of double doors, pushing Maddie inside, walking in, rushing toward Haley. Haley tried to run away, now scared. He grabbed her by her ponytail, pulling the headband out in the process. "No!" Maddie yelled, stood frozen, afraid to move. Haley struggled to get away. He pulled Haley in toward him, throwing her across a table, making her land hard on the floor. The vampire rushed to Maddie, grabbing her by the throat as he threw her over a table against the wall, making her land hard on the floor. Maddie groaned painfully. Haley frantically grabbed a pencil, trying to distract the vampire from stalking toward Maddie. She sat up, but the vampire grabbed her from the floor, pushing Haley into the wall, transforming, about to bite her. The vampire felt a presence behind him. Maddie stabbed him in the chest with the pencil that Haley gave her, angrily, but she missed his heart. The vampire seemed amused, taking the pencil out of his chest, turning around to face Maddie. Haley stood against the wall, readying for an attack. He raised his hand to defend himself. Maddie's pencil slid through the palm of his hand. He looked at his wounded hand. Haley then stabbed him with another pencil, pushing him to the floor. The vampire struggled to stand. Maddie went to Haley as they both backed away from him, bumping into a mop bucket. Haley glanced at her niece, nodding toward the mop. Maddie nodded slowly. Maddie turned around, grabbing the mop from the bucket, using her knew to break the handle in two to create a stake. Haley watched at the vampire pulled the pencil out of his hand, standing, stalking toward Maddie. Maddie thrusted the stake toward him. He was too quick, catching her wrist, taking the stake out of her hand, tossing it aside. Maddie looked at him in disappointment. He went to bite Maddie's neck. Maddie screamed. "No!" Haley yelled, finding something to defend. All of the sudden, Damon and Isaiah appeared, pulling him away from Maddie, tossing him to the floor. Isaiah crouched beside Maddie. The vampire stood. Haley ran toward Maddie who was laying on the floor, breathing hard. Damon had a flicker of concern, before masking into fury and turned to the missing vampire. Isaiah turned to face the vampire. Stefan and Elena were also in the room. "Hey, dickhead." Damon called out to him. The vampire turned toward them. Isaiah had the broken piece of the broom Maddie had broken, shrugging. "No one wants to kill you. We just want to talk." The vampire smirked, turning around, rushing toward Isaiah, Maddie, Haley and Damon. Isaiah rushed toward the vampire, staking him in his stomach, making him fall to his knees, breathing heavily in pain. Haley smiled a small smile in relief. Maddie groaned as blood rushed through her head. Elena looked from the vampire to Isaiah. Isaiah left the wood in place. "Now you feel like talking?" Haley helped Maddie up from the floor, as Elena and Stefan walked closer toward them. The vampire looked at Isaiah and Haley. "Screw you." Isaiah smirked and drove the stake in further, making him groan in pain, tilting his head, seemingly having fun in torturing the vampire. "Wrong answer." The vampire groaned in pain. The vampire looked at Maddie, smirking devilishly. "Because it's fun." Isaiah drove the stake further in his stomach. "What do you want with Haley and Maddie." Damon cut in, stepping aside his brother and Isaiah. "Haley is an added bonus. Maddie, however, a blast from the past." The vampire answered. Stefan, Damon and Maddie exchanged a look in confusion. Isaiah, however had a cold glare in his eyes. "She's more fun than Elena. I knew I would have more fun with her." Elena widened her eyes in fear, knowing it could have been her. Haley closed her eyes as she held Maddie up. "You knew Madelyn?" Damon asked, fearing the answer. "Hm, Madelyn? Sure, but I also think Katherine sounds familiar." The vampire told them, looking from Damon to Stefan to Maddie. Isaiah raised an eyebrow, questioning how the vampire knew Madelyn and Katherine. Maddie walked closer. "You thought you were the only ones. You don't even remember me." Damon leaned forward, hands on his knees. "Tell me how to get into the tomb. Hmm?" Maddie groaned. "Damon..." She warned him, but he ignored her. "No." The vampire told them. Isaiah drove the stake further into his stomach, making him groan in pain. Elena looked away. "The grimoire." Maddie's eyes lit up in recognition. Damon caught them. "Where is it?" Haley asked. The vampire tilted his head tauntingly. Isaiah drove the stake further into his stomach, making him groan in pain. Elena looked at Maddie. Maddie shook her head. "Check The journal." The vampire told them. "The journal." Maddie frowned in confusion, then realized who's journal. "Jonathan's journal. Jonathan Gilbert's." Damon stood straight. "Who else is working with you." Haley asked calmly. Stefan looked at the vampire impatiently. "Who else is there?" Maddie turned toward the door, seeing a shadow leave. "No." The vampire told them. "You're going to have to kill me." Haley sighed. Elena seemed disappointed. Maddie rolled her eyes. Damon looked toward Maddie in annoyance. Stefan looked at the vampire. Isaiah pulled the stake out of the vampire's stomach. "Your funeral." Damon knew what's coming, so he gently grabbed Maddie and cradled her head to his chest. Elena and Haley watched in confusion as Isaiah drove a stake through his heart, killing him. The vampire fell to the floor, desiccating. Elena and Haley now knew why, as they watched in shock. "How are you going to find the others now?" Elena asked, finding her voice. "He has to die, Elena." Maddie murmured. Elena turned to her sister. "But—." Stefan stepped in. "Elena." Elena and Haley turned toward him. Stefan nodded. "He had been invited in." There was a clunk from out in the hall. Isaiah sighed, letting go of the vampire. They looked toward the door, seeing Alaric through the window. Alaric walked away. Damon looked at Stefan and Isaiah and they both glanced at Maddie. Isaiah nodded toward the door. "Go. I got her." Haley looked at Stefan, nodding to Elena. "Get her out of here. I got Maddie." Stefan nodded. Damon walked out of the cafeteria. Isaiah, Haley, Maddie and Elena looked at the vampire's body. Stefan led Elena away, out of the cafeteria as Isaiah grabbed Maddie and sighed, shaking her head. "Go." Haley told Isaiah, who nodded warily. Isaiah rushed away with Maddie in his arms. Then Haley glanced at the dead vampire, preparing to move and rid of the body.

Out in the hallway, Haley waited for Damon as she stood, her back leaned against the wall. "Where's Stefan?" Damon asked as he walked up to her. "He took Elena home." Haley answered. "And Isaiah took Maddie." Haley told him. Damon nodded in understanding, taking a moment to consider the day's events. Damon looked at Haley. "There's no way that idiot was working alone." Haley rolled her eyes. "Well, duh." Damon looked at Haley, smiling sarcastically. "So, the grimoire..." Haley trailed off. "That was Emily's right? That's what you need to reverse the spell. When the Founding Families burned her, they took her things, and you were hoping that your Dad's journal would tell you where it is." Haley asked Damon, her voice quiet. Damon looked at her, slightly impressed. "Look at you putting the pieces together. Good for you." Haley smirked, knowing Damon was teasing. Damon smiled, then returned serious. "I was half right." Haley seemed confused. "Well, it's out there now." She pointed out. "Let the games begin." Damon smirked. "And Stefan is willing to help." Haley told him. "With hidden caveats, no doubt." Haley frowned. "No." Haley told him. "He told me that he'd help you, and by you, he help Maddie, because he's doing right by her." Haley told him. Damon turned to Haley in surprise. "And if I agree?" Damon asked Haley. She sighed, rubbing her temples.. "Okay." Damon gave in. Haley and Damon have a small smile.

After awhile, Damon brought Haley back to their house, leaving her for the night. Maddie was sitting on the couch across from Elena. Isaiah sat next to her. Stefan was in the kitchen, making hot tea for Elena and iced for Maddie. Haley walked into the room. "Doing okay?" Elena asked them both. Haley looked from Maddie to Elena. "I should be the one asking you two, but is it weird if I say yes?" Haley asked. Maddie frowned as she glanced at her aunt. "Is it true?" Elena asked. Haley glanced at Elena, and sitting beside her. "I should feel more upset or scared or something, but I... feel kind of exhilarated." Haley told them. Maddie tilted her head. "It's the adrenaline." Maddie and Stefan explained simultaneously, causing both Haley and Elena to jump. "You'll crash soon enough." Isaiah finished. Haley and Elena looked at one another. "It's freaky how they do that." Elena whispered. Haley smirked. "Yeah, I guess." Haley looked at Stefan. Stefan walked closer toward Elena. Isaiah watched, in silence. Haley smiled. "I fought back tonight. It felt good." Elena smiled. "I wish you didn't have to fight at all." Elena told her. "Still..." Haley trailed off. Stefan sat down on the coffee table in front of Elena. Haley grabbed Elena's tea from the coffee table and carefully handing it to her. Stefan had given Maddie her own. Elena took the tea, taking a sip. Haley smiled from behind her mug with hot cocoa. "I need to tell you three something, and I don't know how you're gonna feel about it. Although, I'm gonna assume that Maddie wants out of it." Stefan glanced, seeing her nod. Haley pulled the mug away from her lips, looking concerned. "What?" Elena frowned, setting her tea down. "I told Damon that I'd help him get into that tomb to get Katherine back." Stefan answered. "But it was a lie. I let him believe that he could trust me." Maddie looked away from him, staying silent. Isaiah frowned, rubbing Maddie's leg in comfort. "Well, then why would you be worried about telling us?" Haley asked. "Because he can be very persuasive and we've have bonded with him lately." Maddie answered, her tone in a monotone that Stefan and Isaiah noticed. Haley rose an eyebrow. "That doesn't mean I trust him. It's gonna take a lot more than just a road trip and a rescue for me to forget who Damon is everything he's done to Elena and Maddie." She answered. Haley knew that Stefan would figure out that they were seeing one another, but Haley knew it was a fling. Maddie stayed silent. She knew what Stefan was asking, and she wished to be no part of. "Then don't." Elena told him. "And we'll help you, whatever it takes." They looked at Haley. She nodded. "For Damon's sake. I'll help you. You can trust me okay?" And then they all looked at Maddie. Maddie lifted her legs off of Isaiah, getting up. "No. I will not help you. For one, Damon promised I wouldn't be involved. And two, I hate, absolutely hate lying to him. You three of all people should know I suck at lies and I hate it. So, leave me out of it. I'm going to bed, goodnight." Maddie walked to kiss Stefan's cheek. "Tell Damon I said goodnight." She went to her aunt. "Night, Hales." She kissed Haley on her cheek, ignoring Elena. Isaiah sighed, watching as Maddie walked upstairs, ignoring the stairs of her two siblings and aunt. "Well, goodnight." With that, Isaiah left the Gilbert house.
