The council of death/rebirth

[pov first person]
Here I was, in a world of darkness, pure emptiness, the void, or whatever you want to call it, alone and very dead. Yet for some reason unbeknownst to me it was calming. Maybe it's because I knew I was dead? Maybe because I accepted the fact my life was ended by a Neanderthal trying to pass a class? However I felt no rage, nor sadness despite leaving the one I cared about behind.

"I guess this is what death is really like? I would've expected a skeleton in a black cloak, or something."

I say to myself, normally I'd look crazy doing that. Jenny was the only one who saw me for me, now I'll never see her again. Hopefully she passed and proved how a true doctor should be especially during surgery. Such a shame I'll never be there to congratulate her or ask her on a date.

"Will you stop mumbling to yourself? It's very annoying to hear your sob story."

A voice, no, multiple voices said from behind me. I turned to see what looked like a courtroom. I always knew one's soul is judged upon death, guess this is how it's decided.

"Step forward to the podium unfortunate soul."

One of the voices said. I simply walk forward and see the judge, or should I say judges? There were multiple figures in various colored cloaks. The first was one in red, most likely the head of hell. Second was in black, probably death itself. The third was in a pink cloak, not sure about that one. Fourth was in white, with a faint but big halo around its shoulders, heaven possibly? Fifth was grey, purgatory definitely. Sixth was green, probably life. The last chair was the biggest and stood behind all, this one looked like the depths of space itself.

"Are you done gawking like a buffoon?"

Black asked, receiving a glare from white.

"Give this soul a break, it is new to this, after all its not exactly normal for a single soul to just come here to meet us."

White said before the big cloaked figure banged a gavel. It shook the room as everyone went silent.

"Very well I suppose it's best to introduce our selves, be warned that after we shall proceed with judgment procedures."

The big cloak said as I gulped. Slowly each member stood and introduced themselves, let's just say I was off, way way off.

"Ugh fine, I am judge of sin"

The red said in a frustrated tone, obviously due to doing this for so long.

"I am the judge of misguidance"

Black stated with a bow, for someone who is misguidance they're nice.

"Hello, I'm death~! I'm the judge of, well ironically, fulfillment~!"

Pink, er I mean death stated in a childish manner.

"I am the judge of faith, it is a pleasure."

The white cloak said with a bow as well, however it was short as a strand of hair slipped out of their hood.

"I'm called the judge of balance"

Grey said with a deep yet wise tone.

"I am known as the judge of enlightenment."

The green one said, this one sounds tired, in fact they started snoring until they face planted into their portion of the lower judge stand. The other judges sigh, facepalm or giggled. Finally it was the big cloaks turn.

"I have been called many names by the souls who have come before you, however I am known as the judge of existence, or by my more common name God."

I was stunned, meeting the being of death was one thing, but God himself!? It's impossible! As I was busy freaking out the judges all sat.

"Now then, let us begin the procedure to determine your souls placement in the afterlife."

God said as he sat and pulled out what looked like a scroll of sorts while the other judges got smaller ones.

"Name (Y/N) (L/N), age (Y/A), gender (Y/G), is (Y/H) tall, had (Y/HL) (Y/HC) hair and (Y/EC) eyes."

God stated as I stood before the council of death. Death spoke up next with their childish tone.

"Oh they were friends with Jenny, never did much, lived off manga, anime and offered to help their friend when she needed it~ That's sooooo cute, and even was confessed to the night prior~! That's so sad though!"

Misguidance then tossed in their two cents.

"I couldn't agree more, what a pathetic waste of a soul, had so many chances to live but didn't."

I take it back, misguidance is a jerk. Faith then spoke up in my defense.

"However (Y/N) had more trust in their friend that they willingly gave their life on multiple occasions. Especially the one that led to their demise."

Suddenly there was a laughing or snickering sound, it was coming from the judge of sin.

"Oh good for you random soul, they had a single friend, yet was a complete perv behind her back. Walking in on her changing, offering to wash her back, etc. You are nothing but a disgusting pig"

Sin said as they stood from their chair and pointed down at me.

"Yeah so?"

I said, finally finding my words, making the judges look at me in interest, however sin was taken aback by my outburst.

"So what if I offered to help her out washing the one spot on her back that she can't reach? So what if I walk into our shared bedroom while she's changing, without looking at her, so I can grab my laptop? You want to blame me for something? Then blame me for kicking that one students teeth in back in middle school! Blame me for stealing a piece of cake before the party! But never, NEVER, blame me for doing something she needed my help with or for respecting her. Not as my roommate, but as a woman who has her whole life figured out."

I say making sin sit back down and the sound of someone clapping. I turn to see enlightenment applauding me.

"Well said, sin always bends the truth, but you truly have seen yourself, and proven you understand yourself more than them."

Enlightenment said before sitting back down, and I couldn't see it, but I felt they were smiling at me. However it didn't last long as balance finally spoke up.

"Despite this you have just admitted to committing sins, many of which are yet to be announced. However both light  and dark are required to bring about any form of balance. You balance both your good decisions and your bad decisions constantly, considering the effects each will have in the future."

I was confused, is that a good thing or a bad thing?

"Now we finally return to your overall existence, it's sad but you made the best of it. Saw your friend's need to succeed, and assisted her in that pursuit."

God said as he looked down at me, a scale appeared  in front of him, all my sins and good deeds began to fill the sides of the scale, determining my fate. Shockingly however it was balanced or so it seemed. The good deeds just slightly out weighed the minor bad deeds and sins. All the judges began to mumble before god banged the gavel again.

"It seems you are at an impasse, however I am willing to give you a choice, remain in purgatory, or go to heaven."

I looked at the ground and thought before death came up with a strange idea.

"How about we give them a second chance at life~?"

Each of the other judges facepalmed at this idea, the being of death, the grim reaper, suggesting that I have a second chance at life. I mean it sounds like a decent idea.

"I can't jus-"

"Sure why not, I mean I'm not exactly happy about dying, nor am I happy about the way it ended."

God started as I interrupted him, death smiled?, and god groaned. However he wasn't exactly denying me immediately. If anything he looked like he was thinking about it.

"Very well, however you don't get to choose your gender, world or whatever. Be thankful that death took pity on your soul."

I was about to reply when everything went white. I screamed out in pain as the bright lights were a complete 180 from the dim and extremely dark void I was in prior. However I wasn't alone, I heard voices I never heard before.

"Congratulations Mrs. Hyoudou, it's a beautiful and healthy baby girl!"

Who was this Hyoudou person? Why did that name sound familiar? Where was I? I was about to get my answers as my vision cleared to reveal a very beautiful woman in a hospital bed.

"Oh my~ Hello sweetie, it's me your mommy~"

It then hit me, I was literally reborn! Like an isekai but real! I just smiled at this woman, no not just any woman, my new mom. I was a baby again, one that has a loving mom and the brains of a high school graduate! This is gonna be an easy life. Maybe I'll get lucky and live a long happy normal life.
