They all began to charge, shaking the ground with their footsteps. Wystan quickly picked me up and placed me on his back with Arlin. The undead were closing in rapidly, so Wystan stomped his right foot causing spikes to rise up and block their path.

Wystan: There's too many master! I'll get us to a more favorable battleground!

He morphed his hands into a giant shield with spikes and began to charge through the army. Several were crushed or skewered by the shield but, three managed to grab onto his right foot and began to climb up to us. Arlin pointed his staff at the them and muttered a few words.

Arlin: Αναπαύσου εν ειρήνη.

When he finished speaking a light shot into the undeads head. A green light rised out of them and their bodies fell limp, causing the bodies to fall and be crushed under Wystan's feet.

Devan: Well done Arlin!

Arlin: Than-

He was cut off by an arrow flying passed his head. Across from us in the trees were undead bowmen firing at us. A few more arrows whizzed pass with one grazing Arlin's cheek and embedding itself into my left shoulder.

Gained status effect: Bleeding

It was deep but it seemed that the barbs didn't go in, I grabbed the shaft of the arrow and snapped it off. We were now out of range of the bowmen and out of the undead army. Wystan stopped and morphed his hands back while I jumped off his back. We were now in a area with small mounds of bones surrounding what seemed to be a giant hole in the ground.

Wystan: Is everyone alright?

Arlin: Y-yeah an arrow only grazed my cheek.

Devan: One of them managed to shoot me.

Arlin: W-what?! L-let me check your wound!

While Arlin was checking my wound he pulled out a small box he had in his cloak. When he opened it I saw some tweezers, plants, honey, bandages, and some needle and thread.

Arlin: I'm going to try to remove the arrow head now. A-are you ready?

Devan: Yeah just make it quick.

He nodded before taking the tweezers and grabbing the arrowhead. He placed two hands on the tweezers and pulled with all his might. The arrowhead only shifted slightly causing some blood to come out. As he was about to try again I placed my right hand on tweezers and helped him pull. The arrow came out this time but so did more of my blood. Arlin asked me to crush what looked to be plant seeds while he mixed it with some honey before applying it to my wound.

It hurt greatly but I tried to remain still to not interrupt Arlin. He then took out a plant he called Kapok Fiber and rubbed it on my wound. Surprisingly this stopped the bleeding.

Lost status effect: Bleeding

The wound seemed to be healing and it didn't seem to hurt as bad as before. As Arlin was applying bandages on me an arrow landed at my feet. Wystan got in front of us while throwing some rocks back at them. I told Arlin to get his things and get on Wystan's back while I finished bandaging my wound. A huge ball of fire was launched at Wystan who brought his arms up to defend himself. His moss and stone body were singed as more arrows rained down from the trees. Deep in the trees I saw the Wraith about to launch another fireball.

I raised both my hands lifting the dirt into a wall like the Guardian taught me. The wall was big enough to protect Wystan from the fireball and the volley of continuous arrows. We were pinned down unable to move without being attacked, and the wall was beginning to crack.

S.Y.S.T.E.M: User it seems a giant creature is rapidly approaching.

How is there even a elephant in the forest!

S.Y.S.T.E.M: Based on the undead soldiers and war elephant, this was once a battlefield.

The elephant somehow trumpeted before it began to charge at our wall.

S.Y.S.T.E.M: User, forgive me for this. But this is the only way I know to get out of this predicament. And I will not have a repeat of last time.

A blinding light enveloped all of us just as the elephant charged through the wall...

I awoke on a tree branch quickly looking around for any enemies. There was nothing near me, not even Wystan or Arlin, I was still in the forest. Where did they go?

S.Y.S.T.E.M: Apologies user I transported you all to different parts of the forest. You're still on the final path while Arlin and Wystan were transported back to the start of the path.

Devan: Dont you mean teleport?

S.Y.S.T.E.M: No teleportation is the transfer of matter or energy from one point to another without traversing the physical space between them. I am able to exit your soul and travel faster than light making it appear you teleported.

Devan: So why was I knocked out?

S.Y.S.T.E.M: Your body couldn't seem to handle traveling more than the speed of light so you passed out.

Devan: Ok, so what now?

S.Y.S.T.E.M: I suggest finding and defeating the Wraith. The soldiers are undead so it is able to resurrect them each time you kill them. But defeat the Wraith and the army will return to their eternal slumber.

Devan: Alright, just got to find and kill the Wraith. But how do I kill it? I'm pretty sure that thing is a spirit.

S.Y.S.T.E.M: Do you recall that book you took from the cultists altar? Read it and you will gain the means to kill it.

As I was about to ask for it the book appeared in my hand. I opened it and a notification appeared.

New skill learned: Soul trap
This allows the binding of a soul to the weapon it is killed by, allowing the weapon to be enhanced with its power.

The book was then engulfed in a purple flame reducing it to ash. I looked at my map and it showed the Wraith with some of the undead soldiers northwest of me. I equipped my katana and made my way to where the Wraith was. Hopefully I'll be able to take it down, I'm a lower level than it.

S.Y.S.T.E.M: On the contrary user you're level may be lower than his, but your skills are much greater than his.

Well that somewhat reassures me. After a while I was finally close to where the Wraith was. I holstered my katana and began to slowly knuckle walk to the trees above the Wraith.

Wraith: What do you mean you cant find the mortals?!

???" They were not in the surrounding ar-

He wasn't able to finish due to the Wraith pulling their soul from out of their body. The others slightly backed up not wanting to die again.

Wraith: Find them or I will make sure your souls go to the underworld!

They all quickly bowed before running off to search for us. The Wraith let out a sigh of frustration before opening his hand revealing the soldiers soul.

Wraith: You should've done a better job.

The Wraith smiled at the soul as he opened a portal to the underworld. A few souls tried to float away only to be dragged back down by long clawed hands. It seemed like the soul was screaming just from being in the presence of a portal to the underworld. The Wraith held the soul above the portal as the long hands went up to grab it.

Wraith: Maybe Hades will show you mercy.

With that he tossed the soul to the hands who grabbed it and immediately dragged it down, closing the portal. With the Wraith distracted I stood up and slowly unsheathed my katana. I began to move closer to the edge while raising my katana. He still hasn't turned around, so I crouched down and leaped wanting to drive the katana down on him. But it seemed he was waiting for me as he parried my blade causing me to fall on my back.

Wraith: In all my years I've never seen a creature like you. I know you can understand me you wield a weapon, you're not attacking wildly, and your listening to me speak. Tell me creature what are you?

I got up and readied my katana at my side.

Devan: I am a gorilla what are you?

Wraith: I'm what mortals call a Wraith I've forgotten my name long ago. Well gorilla do you mind telling me where the rest of your companions are?

Devan: I will never tell you spirit. You've endangered my friends lives so I will send you to the underworld.

My answer didn't seem to please him as he raised his sword to his side as well.

Wraith: And here I thought you had some intelligence. You cant even hurt me gorilla, but I will like to see your body squirm as I steal your soul from your body.

He then ran at me bringing his sword into a overhand strike. I blocked his attack and punched his head trying to disorient him. However it didn't seem to faze him to much as he punched me in the head as well. His punch disoriented me as he pointed his sword at me and green flames shot out launching me back. My heat resistance reduced the damage greatly as only my fur was a little burned. I got up as the Wraith began to slowly walk up to me.

I held my blade above my head as dark purple fog began to fall from it. The Wraith stopped and raised his sword in a defensive position. I closed my eyes and decided use Heavenly strikes to get his health down. I opened my eyes and saw his outline was grey with red in some areas. I brought down my sword and began to repeatedly strike his chest before I blinked.

I managed to do 40 damage with 5 direct hits in the span of a second with Heavenly strikes. Although it did drain some of my mana and I need to save 30 to use Soul trap.

Wraith: What was that? I must say you surprise me more and more. But I do believe it's my turn.

He charged at me again doing another overhand strike. I went to block again but this time he kicked me in the kidney with the pointed end of his boot. He then brung his sword down diagonally cutting deep into my arm. The Wraith was about to slash me again but I brought my sword up before he did slicing his stomach and part of his right arm. Only he didn't bleed instead green smoke came out. He jumped back and looked at his wounds in amazement.

Wraith: You...you managed to wound me. You're the first mortal and animal to wound me. Come on let's keep this fight going, this is the most exciting battle I had yet!

He pointed his sword at me and shot out another burst of green flame. I rolled out the way and charged at him trying to get him on the defensive. I did a side attack trying to find a weakness in his defense, but he parried it and pushed the blade to the side sending me with it. He was about to do a overhand strike at my exposed back before I remembered what Alger did when we fought. I pivoted my foot and spinned bringing my katana up slashing him across his face allowing more green fog to release. I then brought down my katana with all my might down on him as he tried to block. The amount of force made him fall to his knees trying to push my blade back. I kicked his stomach making him fall on his back, allowing me to jump on his chest bending his armor in.

He coughed before trying to slash my face, but I quickly grabbed his arm before dropping my katana and using my now free hand to break his arm. More green fog escaped as he screamed in pain dropping his sword. I then began to punch his face and attempt to rip off his armor.

I'm doing better than I expected fighting a tougher opponent. Before I could deliver another punch he shot out a blast of green flames from his chest sending me tumbling to the ground.

This is not good I dropped my katana so I guess were doing this barehanded. The Wraith got up and popped his arm back in place before raising his clawed gauntlets. A fistfight with a blackback usually goes in the apes favor, although he is basically undead so maybe he has a chance. He's also down to almost half his health as am I, but in terms of strength I think I got this. We were in a somewhat clear areas with a few trees surrounding us.

I stood on my legs and beat my chest while bearing my teeth challenging the Wraith to hand to hand combat. He was confused at first before a look of realization hit his face as he raised his fists and ignited them with green flames. I activated Primate strength before charging at him on all fours, and before I reached him I jumped and brought my hands together ready to squash him.

However he quickly sidestepped making me break the ground while he delivered fast punches to my left side. The fire burned slightly before I swung my arm back handing him launching him a few feet away. He quickly got up and launched a green fire beam at me, I tried to jump out the way but it managed to hit the same shoulder the arrow was lodged in. I have no time cry about it as I was still in a fight, so as i got up i threw a jagged rock at him. He tried to dodge but I managed to graze his side releasing more of that green mist.

I didn't give him time to realize what happened as I threw more rocks while charging toward him. He dodged most of them and even threw a few fireballs back at me, but I managed to close the distance and punch him across the face sending him close to the trees. He seemed disoriented this time so I quickly climbed the nearest tree and jumped off intending to crush him. He wasn't able to react in time so I was able to crush him under 500lbs of meat. His armor broke as some pieces embedded into his chest probably piercing something important. How much health does he have left?

I guess being crushed under a giant gorilla jumping from a tree really hurts. Well I should put him out of his misery and finish him.

S.Y.S.T.E.M: User don't forget to use Soul trap or he will just come back at some other point. Once activated kill him with any weapon.

I completely forgot about that thanks System. I activated Soul trap and my hands glowed dark red, I should finish this in style. I grabbed the weakened Wraith's arms while having one foot planted on his chest preventing him from moving. I then began to pull his arms trying to tear them off as all the Wraith could do was scream in agony. Some mist began to escape from his shoulders as his arms were beginning to come loose. I added more strength finally pulling his arms off, I just looked at the Wraith as it was still in pain. Dropping one of his arms I proceeded to beat his face in with his own arm and my fist, after a while he stopped screaming as I tossed his arm to the side as I looked at my handiwork.

His head was smushed with green mist exiting his body, this was the second time I executed someone and I still felt no regret. In the distance I heard groaning before multiple thumps hit the ground. Quess the undead army is asleep hopelessly for good. The Wraiths body began to rise and glow dark red before it entered my body. I felt a rush of power as the feeling dissipated a notification appeared.

New skill unlocked: Resurrection
Allows the user to bring any mortal creatures back to life.

That's a nice ability to have incase someone I like dies. I looked back at where the Wraiths body was and I saw the final golden fruit. Well this is a nice way to end my first quest. I grabbed the fruit and like before I was teleported back to the start.
