Chapter 15 - Ape warriors

I touched his hand and we were transported once again. Only this time we were outside a small village with some hills and a jungle nearby. A huge  mountain range was to the west of the village. There was a small shepherd boy watching his flock drink from a small stream. It all seemed perfect and peaceful.

Alger: (Before I tell you of my troop, I'll tell you of our enemies. You see that hill close to the stream? Watch it carefully.)

I focused on the hill and I could see it slightly moving up and down, just like the Land Gaurdians while hiding. One of the sheep began to move down the stream and closer to the hill. The shepherd boy was about to go get the sheep, but a hand suddenly grabbed the poor sheep. The hand came out of the hill and it began to shake, until the dirt fell off revealing a troll with a mace and its eyes covered. The shepherd boy quickly gathered the rest of the flock and ran to the village.

Alger then snapped his fingers stoping time and began to walk up to the troll.

Alger: (These monstrosities are the mountain trolls of the west. They lie in wait for unsuspecting prey, but when they do catch their prey they're savages.)

He snapped his fingers continuing time once again. I turned my attention back to the troll and what I saw made me sad. It didn't kill the sheep immediately instead it bit its leg off. The sheep was bleating in pain causing the troll to smile sadistically. Not long after it ripped off the sheep's other leg and ate it. The poor sheep was finally killed when the troll threw it into its mouth and chewed it up.

Alger: (They're savage beasts but I respect their power of strength and fear. We learned from them how to break our enemies will with fear. Every creature feared these beasts for their savagery.)

Devan: (You've learned to strike fear in other's hearts. But won't someone stop fearing you and have courage to fight back? Like them.)

I pointed over to a group of knights riding on horses toward the troll. They were all screaming as they raised their swords. Alger then began to slightly chuckle.

Alger: (Sometimes fear is a good thing, keeps you from doing foolish things. Like them.)

Once the knights came close to the troll it roared loudly at them scaring the horses, causing the knights to fall off. This let the troll raise its mace as it squashed two knights. But the knights were undeterred as they quickly picked up thier swords and charged at the troll. The troll swung its mace launching one knight into the village. With it distracted the other knights went in to skewer it. But thier weapons merely left flesh wounds not able to deeply penetrate its thick skin.

The troll seemed to find thier attempts to harm it hysterical as it began to laugh. It then quickly picked up one of the knights and bit off his entire upper body.

Alger: (Some people believe being a coward is a terrible thing. But when you fight you must know when your clearly outmatched. However, if you can't escape go out fighting you might get lucky and live.)

The remaining knights seeing thier comrad slaughtered began to retreat. But the troll began to run after them quickly catching up. It proceeded to step on one while bringing its mace down on another. The knights kept running but one remaining and drew his sword once again. The troll seemed to be slightly surprised the small creature wasn't running. So it quickly ran past him and killed the remaining knights by launching its entire body, crushing them.

Alger: (See cowards are sometimes braver than most. This coward saw his comrades attacks had done no damage to it. So the coward must adapt and figure out how to live another day. A opponent will underestimate a coward, causing its downfall.)

The knight shakily raised his sword at the troll. The troll dropped its mace and began to take off its eye cover.

It wasn't as horrifying as I thought it would be. But it was enough to scare the knight as he began to tremble. The troll seemed to get cocky as it kicked away its weapon and opened its arms. The troll began to laugh at him, but when it looked at him it squinted because of the light slightly bouncing into it eyes. The knight noticing this quickly moved his sword to redirect the light into its eyes, blinding it. With the troll down on its knees the knight got closer waiting for it to open its eyes.

Once the pain in its eyes stopped it opened its eyes, only to get a sword shoved deep into its socket reaching its brain. The knight quickly ran to the village leaving his sword in the now stone corpse of a kneeling troll.

Alger: (Watching someone so full of themself get taught a lesson is oddly very satisfying. Anyway, it's time I showed you what made my troop special.)

He placed his hand on my shoulder, teleporting us into the jungle close to the village. There in front of us were baby apes but they were different. They all had weapons and armor made of wood, with red paint on their faces. They also had a belt around thier waists with small round leaves attached to it.

Devan: (What're these infants doing?)

Alger: (Hunting tradition. All infants are trained to kill practically at birth. We are given wooden weapons and armor to put us at a disadvantage. Ajamu told you we've come from different worlds right? In my world only the strong and most intimidating apes survived. You see that infant with the red flag on his back that's me.)

The small group began to move deeper into the jungle moving silently. The flag-bearer held up his hand and lifted one finger. This was apparently a signal telling the others to climb the trees.

Alger: (I remember this, my group was tasked this part of the jungle to hunt any dangerous beast. We were slightly terrified because of the beasts in this area. But if we were to one day lead or go into battle we can't show fear.)

The group began to jump from tree to tree while scanning the ground. Suddenly they all stopped and stayed still looking toward a giant hole in the ground. The flag-bearer waved at another ape and pointed to their belt. The ape nodded and grabbed one of the leaf balls off his belt and looked back at the flag-bearer. He then raised his arm while lifting his sharpened stick. The others began to raise their weapons and ready to jump down.

Devan: (What's your group hunting?)

Alger: (A sort of insect but much more... terrifying. Oh look there it is.)

Why must every creature look so terrifying in this world? The creature began to climb out the hole looking around. When it looked up the flag-bearer dropped his hand signaling the ape with the ball to throw it. The ball landed on its face covering it in a green liquid. The creature began to screech in pain as the liquid began to dissolve its eyes. Hearing their comrades screams a few more insects came out to investigate. With the rest of the insects outside the flag-bearer screamed and jumped on one of them.

The rest following their leader jumped on one each and began to stab them in the eyes. With the creatures now blinded the apes moved to kill the one the flag-bearer was attacking. However the other insects began to swing their sharp legs to kill their attackers. One of them got lucky and struck one of the apes, launching him into a tree breaking his wooden armor. The flag-bearer signalled for the strongest ape to carry their injured ally into the trees.

While the ape was carried away the rest of the them continued their assault. They stabbed deep into the spaces of the insects armor effectively killing it. They continued this process until the rest of the insects were killed. Seeing they were victorious they began to cheer while beating their chests.

Alger: (That was a glorious hunt. But not everything goes to plan. We made so much noise it woke up a mighty foe.)

A giant saber-toothed tiger roared before charging through some bushes. Every ape was petrified of this new terrifying enemy. Taking the opportunity to strike the tiger pounced on one of them and began mauling him. This quickly killed the infant, and caused the rest to snap out of their fear. The flag-bearer screamed and chucked his sharpened stick at its eye. Quickly following his lead half threw their sticks while the rest didn't.

The sticks pierced the tigers eye, side, and rear leg. Do to the pain the tiger became enraged and charged at two nearby apes. One of the apes dodged out of the way while the other, who still had his stick waited. When the tiger pounced the infant drove his stick into its stomach. The tiger fell down weakened, seeing this the ape in the tree jumped ready to deliver the killing blow.

But the tiger quickly stood and swiped the infant out of the air onto the ground. It then proceeded to maul him killing him. Quickly finishing the infant off the tiger charged at a close unarmed ape. The ape quickly picked up a nearby rock ready to defend himself. As it closed the distance the ape smashed the rock on its head with all his might. This caused the tiger to fall once again stunned.

Instead of fighting one at a time the flag-bearer signalled for all to attack at once. The remaining apes pounced on the tiger with sticks, stones, and some just their fists. They began to brutalize the tiger tearing off its flesh and limbs. With the tiger defeated they scanned their surroundings before celebrating.

The flag-bearer called everyone together to do a head count. It seemed they lost two apes and one is wounded. He then ordered for the two dead apes burial and for the head of the tiger and insects.

Devan: (Why're are you burying them here and not taking them back?)

Alger: (We bury the ape where they died so that their soul may find their body. You see the hole the insects crawled out from? If we leave it opened an insect hive could still be alive in there.)

They finished burying their brothers and turned their attention to the hole where the insects came from. The flag-bearer took off his belt and everyone did the same handing it all to him. He then threw all the belts into the hole causing a giant explosion of acid to rise. With that they took the heads of the creatures they killed and began to return home.

Alger: (Those two we lost were our brothers, but when we told our father of their deaths he only said "They were weak.")

Devan: (I'm sorry that happened.)

Alger: (Don't be this happened long ago. But this was just the beginning, when we were blackbacks I ruled as the leader of our troop. I found a material so strong and beautiful nothing could destroy it. Every creature feared our power and no one dared challenge us. All was well until my father called me and my brothers together. He wanted us to kill the leader of the western mountain trolls. When we asked for a reason why he said a scout saw a few smaller trolls were scouting our defenses. So naturally we obeyed but we would soon learn this decision would cost us greatly.)

He then snapped his fingers transporting us to a cave entrance in the mountains. There were four blackbacks three armed with spears, and one armed with a ōdachi. A huge totem was outside the entrance made of bones and painted with blood. The one with the ōdachi told everyone to follow him in. As they entered they heard noises of laughter and a lot of screaming. They began to slightly speed up in hope of saving the unknown captives. When they entered the area the noise was coming from, they were petrified of what they saw. Twenty trolls were gathered around a pile of now dead villagers. What was worse they all had armor and weapons made of a metal only the gorillas had access to.

Alger: (What surprised us wasn't the brutalized captives but the weapons and armor they donned. It was lustrous even in the dark cave and had the insignia of our troop. No one else had access to that extremely strong and shiny material except us. Our father lied to us saying the trolls wanted to attack us. He delivered us to our enemies.)

???: Hakoouku.

???: Guakun ushhaakum ushherat?

???: Ulemembeum ushhuth ishearag hakeavuth guluobodzag dulivuth.

The apes couldn't understand their language but they knew they were talking about them. The trolls began to walk towards them before one shouted.

???: Guluoiz!

Suddenly the way they came in was blocked by two giant trolls. This surprised the apes allowing one troll to swing its club at them. They were all launched back into a wall dazed.

???: Ushhey'ruth ashug thureauku.

???: I ushhoughakum ushheium guatheum ashaimar ushhezag thureruth ashtronor?

???:Thurhaakum ishimar gorotu azxpecakum? Dunimalakun duruth gudiotioz.

They all began to laugh as one of them picked up the one wielding the ōdachi by his arm. But he suddenly grabbed his ōdachi and sliced the troll's hand off dropping him.

???: AAAGHH DOL-ILRAG USHHERAT!

The trolls were about to attack the apes but the distraction allowed the blackbacks to strike. Two sent their spears deep into two unarmored trolls hearts killing them. The third stabbed into the exposed neck of another troll. And the fourth severed a trolls foot causing it to fall, were he then sliced deep into its neck making it choke on its own blood.

???:Ishon'akum guighakum ininuth duakum a ushimuth! Dol-ilrag ushherat ushogetheum!

Suddenly two trolls swung their clubs at the same time squishing one of the blackbacks into a red paste. Two smaller ones tackled one ape down and began to tear his limbs off. All that was left was two blackbacks against fifteen armored trolls. Seeing they were outmatched, the blackbacks pulled out two leaf balls and threw them at their feet. This created two smoke clouds blinding their enemies allowing them to run to the exit. What they didn't expect was for a few trolls to be waiting for them outside. When they made it out they were smacked into the side of the mountain.

???: Hakoouku duakum ushherat ushhey'ruth thureauku.

???: Aznougarg ushalkinor duluakum ushherat.

The trolls grabbed one of the dazed blackbacks and proceeded to pull his limbs off slowly. As the ape began to scream the other ape regained his bearings, but quickly froze up at the site of his brother being tortured. The blackback screamed for his brother to help him, but he remained there frozen in fear. Finally his screams stopped as one troll bit his head off, and threw the corpse in front of the remaining blackback. He began to slightly shake and the trolls took this as sign of fear. By this time the rest of the trolls came out of the cave and began mocking him and his dead brothers.

???:Gorouum shrakrotherakun ishiemar guoum guluothinor.

???:Gorouum guatheum thurantemar gorotu dulrag ushug ishiuth.

???:Gule'akun ashhakinor.

???:Guluth ashtinkakun iniir gueaum.

They began to laugh at him and he began to shake more. But it wasn't out of fear it was out of rage. He slowly got up and raised his ōdachi before fueling it with his rage. This increased its size and, sent a wave of red energy cutting a troll straight down the middle. The trolls immediately stopped laughing and instead became enraged. They all charged at him intending to kill him right were he stands. But he began to move as quick as wind slicing through their armor like butter. It was as if time stopped he moved lightning quick between each troll. When he stopped every trolls body dropped with various limbs missing.

He looked at what he had done but didn't fell anything just numb. All of a sudden a dark entity appeared and began laughing. But all the blackback did was just stare.

???: That was simply marvelous ape you slaughtered them like sheep!

He could surprisingly understand what this thing was saying but what did it want?

Jaakobah: Probably wondering who I am, ape? I am Jaakobah the god of deceit.

He bowed as if he was a performer on stage before laughing again. But the blackback was confused why was the god of deceit talking with him?

Jaakobah: You know your kind were very loyal it's what I liked about you all. Almost as much as I love messing with humans.

Why was he saying were? His kind are plentiful.

Jaakobah: Oh your quick to catch small details. Yes I say were because every other ape is dead your the last one.

In a rage the blackback tried to slice the spirit in half, but it merely dodged behind him.

Jaakobah: Did you seriously think you can land a strike on me. Now I see why the others killed the last one.

He tried to strike again but this time he held his hand preventing him from moving it.

Jaakobah: The last guy was smart but why're you so stupid to keep trying that? You'll almost make me regret killing every ape. Because now I need something else to entertain me.

This enraged the blackback as it tried to throw a punch but his body refused to move. Jaakobah just sighed as he turned his blade around and pointed it at his chest.

Jaakobah: You know what I don't regret it anymore. By the way the humans came up with this wonderful way to kill themselves want to learn it?

He tried to resist again but he still couldn't move only glare at the god.

Jaakobah: It'll be fun at least for me it's called Seppuku. I think it suits well for your execution.

Jaakobah then touched his head and he began to kneel. He tried to stop but he couldn't control his hands as the blade came closer to his abdomen. All the god did was watch with intrest and lightly chuckle. The blade pierced deep into his stomach as he moved the blade from left to right. It was painful but it was over as he began to bleed out quickly. Jaakobah began to laugh hysterically closing his eyes and hunching over. He didn't want this to be the last thing he sees, so he quickly took the blade out of his stomach and slashed at the god. Jaakobah dodged again and the blackback fell forward but before he passed he noticed something.

Right on the blade was blue blood and Jaakobah was slightly hunched over and no longer laughing. He smiled to himself proud he made a god bleed. Alger teleported us back to were I met them and there Ajamu was patiently waiting for us.

Alger: (I managed to impress the deceitful god enough to not let his brother have my soul. Instead he transported my soul here with my weapon I named "Θεός φονιάς". I want my vengeance on the gods for killing my entire family. I'm pretty sure Ajamu wants vengeance too so would you help us by killing the gods?)

                        !New quest!
                       Kill the gods
                  Reward: Immortality
                          Yes       No

Going to war with the gods that sounds like a great adventure. This reminds me of God of War never had a chance to finish it, so might as well kill gods for real. But will they immediately attack me if I hit accept?

S.Y.S.T.E.M: It seems the gods don't know or care for your existence. If you would 'declare war' on them you must get their attention. But I recommend you start your holy war after you become as strong as them.

I'll figure out a solution to that eventually so the holy war is on hold...for now.

                      !New quest!
                      Kill the gods
                 Reward: Immortality
                       [Yes]       No

When I pressed yes I began to feel lightheaded and pass out.

(A war with the gods? Dont that sound like fun)
