The Street Side Find

She hadn't meant to. She genuinely didn't mean to. She didn't!

But no matter what Heather Chandler told the police, they didn't listen. All they did was look upon her small crying form and sneered. Chandler couldn't do anything to stop them as they dragged her away.

"I didn't do anything!" she cried as they forced her into their car. It was late and dark and very cold, and Chandler should be in bed. But she wasn't. And it was all because of that stupid app. "I just found them like that, I promise!"

One cop, a lady that Chandler was sure she had seen before, sneered. "Right," she said. "And you just happened upon them. At ten at night. Alone."

"Yes!" Chandler screamed. The lady shook her head, forcing Chandler into the car. She was looking at Chandler with a disgusted look. She probably saw Chandler's deformed purple tongue.

Chandler was terrified. She hated every bit of this. The handcuffs pressed ugly red lines into her writs and she saw that her face was a bright red. Chandler had never felt so utterly helpless in her life. She wished that she could take that stupid baton a male cop was swinging around and bash it into his stupid face.

She had been in trouble with authority before, most teachers had multiple conversations to her about her attitude, but they weren't like these people. These people didn't even seem to be mad at her, in fact, they almost seemed to enjoy arresting her! It was sickening.

"I didn't murder them," Chandler said, much quieter than before. "I was just taking a walk, and then I found them, and then I called you."

The two cops looked back at her, and Chandler studied their faces fearfully. To her dismay, there wasn't an ounce of sympathy in either of their expressions.

"Well, we'll see," the female cop said. "But things aren't looking too good for you."

"Now would you shut up?!" the male one complained. "I've had enough of your tantrum."

Chandler opened her mouth to argue, and then closed it, suddenly remembering every single cop arrest on TV.

"I want a lawyer," she whispered.

"Didn't you hear what we said!?" the male cop shouted, making Chandler jump. "Shut up!"

"I want a lawyer!" Chandler shouted back. But her wavy, fear filled voice wouldn't convince anyone, let alone these two. "That's my right, right? I want a lawyer!"

"We don't have to give you a lawyer."

"Yes you do!" Chandler was pretty sure they did. At least she hoped they did. "It's my right!"

"Shut up!" the male cop twisted back once again and Chandler got a glimpse of an terrifying purple face before he was facing the front again. "Just shut up!"

Chandler finally did as she was told, and the care started up. Chandler wished she could be anywhere but here. She especially wished she could be at home, where she hadn't listened to that stupid WGB app and didn't go down it's suggested street and had never found that murdered group of kids. She wished she hadn't called the police.

The WGB app had been wrong, Chandler thought as the police car drove off. This stupid walk did nothing to help her anxieties.
