Chapter TWENTY SIX
Eunwoo flashed back into reality, and he immediately navigated the scream - it came from not too far, so he almost instantly ran after the noise.
Flames were everywhere, it was dark. The moon was peeking out from behind the trees, it illuminated - actually, no it didn't.
The flames were enough to light the place up.
Thankfully, his system had upgraded his head resistability, and he could handle extremely high temperatures.
Though if he were to be consumed within those flames..
He didn't want to think about that right now.
What he was most focused on, though, was finding Myungjun.
He ignored his software flashing because of the lack of Purple liquid, and instead, he pursued after the creature that probably had his Captain with him.
The scent of the mutated Alpha was going away, fading. He was getting further and further away from it. But he could care less by this point.
It didn't matter anymore.
He had to save his friend! He had to!
Finally, after what seemed like hours of running (when in reality, it was only 10 minutes), he found himself near a lake.
And there it was.
The mighty monster that he once, thought of as a fellow friend.
Vernon.
He was snarling over Myungjun's small body, who looked ready to just curl up and die.
"Hey! I'm here, you're looking for me, aren't you?"
Vernon whipped around and growled on seeing Eunwoo, who was now in his wolf form.
He had only 3 legs, but he could very easily run around with them - which was quite impressive.
Vernon snarled and turned away from Myungjun, slamming down his paws into the ground and letting out a mighty howl that even rippled the waters surface.
"Yeah.. you're looking for me. I know you are, come get me then." Eunwoo whispered, bearing his teeth.
Vernon snarled and charged at him, missing his body by just a snap.
Eunwoo was smaller than him, of course. He was the size of a van, while Vernon was the size of a 2 story bus. He wasn't that much smaller than him, but there was still a difference.
He took the opportunity and jumped onto his back, biting right into his neck - where his main supply of Purple liquid would be.
Vernon howled and threw him off, sending the android into a tree, Eunwoo tasting purple liquid on his tongue.
Eunwoo snarled, as if demanding, inviting him even, to come closer.
Vernon didn't need to be told twice, and he immediately charged at Eunwoo, biting the place where he would be - but instead, he bit the tree, fangs stuck in the trunk.
Eunwoo ran over to him, and opening a hatch in his torso, he took out a small fuse like item, with red liquid inside.
He clung off the beasts mouth, and shoved it inside, making sure it was deep inside before he let go, Vernon at the same time freeing himself from the tree.
"Choke on it, asshole." He said in a harsh tone, before Vernon scooped him up and roared in his face.
He was ready to blow him up, but he was dropped when the beast yelped.
Eunwoo fell to the ground, and he saw.. what was it?
It looked like a wolf. But there was red liquid dripping off of it, it had a messed up jaw, fresh wounds were littered all over its body, and it had muscles protruding out of its arms.
Myungjun.
The creature snarled, before he lifted a claw and slashed it along the other androids leg, slicing it cleanly off.
Vernon howled and fell down.
"Captain, this way!"
The ugly creature nodded slowly, and raced after Eunwoo, who fled into the burning forest.
They managed to get in only a little, when a massive claw reached out and grabbed Eunwoo, who bit down on the metallic paw.
Eunwoo threw a remote towards Myungjun, who caught it.
"Press the button! Quick!"
Myungjun let out a pained moan, before he dropped the remote, and pressed the red button.
There was an explosion, and Vernon howled, his face flying in all directions.
Eunwoo was dropped, and the body of the beast android fell down beside him.
Eunwoo panted and huffed, attempting to restore the natural heat inside his software.
However, he was still losing purple blood... which..
Flames were everywhere, it didn't look like there was an escape.
Surely, he could find something. Maybe he could-
His gaze found itself on a figure on the ground, shaking.
Captain.
He ran over to him, and noticed the black veins had went up his face and into his eye, turning it black in colour.
His clothes were ripped, and there was wounds with the very obvious bacterial substance on them.
He went over to him.
"God.. I-it hurts so bad.." Myungjun mumbled, voice barely recognizable anymore. The virus had sprung to his vocal chords, there was no denying that.
He was breathing heavily, and with each heave of the chest, it looked like the breath was even more pained than the last one he took.
He was trembling, in his human form.
His arm was slowly turning into scar tissue, but it still had that red mucus on it, the wounds opening everywhere on his body.
Regulus was a fucking curse, not a blessing. Why would anyone want to inherit this stupid disease? It was painful. It ruined your life.
And it's the way some people want it all to their selves.. it proves how humanity is more fucked up than anything, Eunwoo had thought to himself.
He couldn't bear to see his Captain in pain. It.. made his chest pang.
And it hurt even more when he saw a tear roll down his Captain's mutilated face.
"Captain, it will be okay."
Myungjun looked at him, and cracked the tiniest smile ever.
"E-Eunwoo?"
"Yes?"
".. Thank you. For.."
He coughed harshly, Eunwoo curling up beside him.
"For being my friend."
Myungjun looked into his eyes weakly, before his body stilled.
Eunwoo continued looking at him, even though he knew what happened.
The hurt in his chest was unbearable.
He sat up slowly, and reached towards his head.
Opening the hatch there, he ripped out a fuse-like item with blue liquid inside.
His software began crashing.
A small smile played at his lips.
He tossed the fuse into the fire, hearing it crackle and sizzle.
He settled down beside his Captain, and pulled him in close, nuzzling him close.
"I'm sorry."
Those last words slipped past his lips, before the light on his wrist went out.
