Chapter THIRTEEN

"You got a blood sample and a picture on the first day? And even the damn mutts details? That update sure did you good, no wonder." Sighed Mr.Bae as he looked at the printout of the photo that Eunwoo took.

Today, the only colour that Myungjun had seen on Eunwoo was green. He had yet to ask about what all the colours meant. Right now, he could assume that white was stationary and default. Then blue was repair mode. He wasn't sure on orange, yellow and red. And he also wasn't sure if the robot had other colours.

Green seemed to be triggered when something nice happened - like today. He was being praised all day for his good job.

"Right. Good, good. This case will be a long one, so you gotta be careful. There has been a few packs around that area, and one of them seemed to alert the other wolves there when they saw Eunwoo."
Eunwoo's light flashed orange.

"There was other packs? My motion sensors and hearing sensors did not detect anything apart from the black wolf." He said.
"Yes, there was. But they masked their scent and they weren't on land anyway. They were in water."

"I- no, I would have heard them anyway. I think my hearing sensors may be malfunctioning a little.."

"I am not cashing out another 5,000 dollars for your ear."

"That is quite alright. I am sure Electro.corp will be able to pay for my damages." He said, scanning an error in his ear just to make sure.

"Welp, anyway. Good job. We have more tasks regarding the newest case though, so be prepared for any surprise texts that may come in about it." Mr.Bae sighed, putting the file away.

"Okay. Come on, Eunwoo. Electro.corp, yeah?" Myungjun asked, getting up.
"Yes."

They got into the car, Myungjun humming as he drove, scowling when he saw the raindrops.
"When the fuck will it be nice and warm. These scent suppressants aren't waterproof.." He grumbled.

"The next sunny day is estimated to occur tomorrow at 1pm, and it will remain sunny for 2 days." Eunwoo said, words rolling off of his tongue like a weather apps prediction.

"Oh. Uh. Thanks."

They drove for 30 minutes and went in to get Eunwoo's ear fixed, before the android got a new task appear in his task module.

'Investigate the abandoned house at xxxx Street, reports have been said that there is dangerous substances being handled there."

His light flickered back to white.
"We have a new case pending, Captain. Would you like to go investigate it?"

"Is it far from here?"
"No. 750m to drive. We should be there in 5 minutes." He said.
"Alright. Let's go. What's it on?"

They got in the car, Myungjun starting it up and starting to drive.
"Illegal substance handling. It may be a drug dealership in the residence. We must proceed with caution, Captain." Eunwoo said, looking at him with a yellow light flickering.

"Oh yeah! Eunwoo, tell me what all of those weird lights mean."
"You mean my expression light?"
"Yeah yeah, whatever it's called. What do the colours mean?"

Eunwoo hummed softly.

"White means standard. Green means happy or content. Orange means that I'm learning new information. Yellow means cautious. Red means danger. Light blue means minor repairs, dark blue is heavy repairs and pink is flustered. Light green is fear. No colour means.. shut down, or as humans call it, dead. I may have other ones, but they might not be installed into my programme yet."

"You can get flustered? Woah. Jeez, the things humans can pick up and do with their hands is.. is definitely something. " He said, glancing at Eunwoo.
"Yes. It is quite remarkable. "

"One last question."

"Yes?"

"I know that you have these.. weird parts that make you up as a whole, like we, humans, have organs. Do you have any that is needed for the body to operate and function properly?"

"Yes. It is called the 'Brain' of the android. It is not necessarily a brain, it looks like a thicker version of a fuse with a purple liquid inside it. It processes the most of the information there, and without it, the body cannot be repaired and the information will never be brought back if destroyed."

"Aha, ok. Interesting!"

They finally arrived at their destined place, pulling up into a dumpster of a parking lot.
It was in a very dull and depressed alley. The bins were ripped and there was rats and pests everywhere.

Crows scattered when the car pulled into the parking lot, dropping their remains of scraps that they found in the bins.

"God, how does anyone bear with the smell around here?" Gagged Myungjun, spraying on his scent suppressants.
It was very unpleasant for both of them.

"Okay. Which house is it?" He asked, getting out and grabbing his gun and gloves, ready to confiscate anything.
"They did not specify. They only said abandoned house."

"But there's a whole fucking area of abandoned houses here! Ugh, fuck, fine. Come on. We'll check each house, one by one." He grumbled, handing him a gun just incase.

Eunwoo loaded it, and watched Myungjun take the first house.
He scanned the area, hoping this could help - but the houses wouldn't scan for some odd reason.

He went to the second house, tearing down the boards and pushing the door open.
He was met with spiderwebs and dust, eyes scanning the room.

His motion and hearing sensors didn't pick up anything down here, neither upstairs or in the other rooms.
His scanner, however, found a bunch of bags of powder stuffed into the crevices of the couch.

Eunwoo picked them up and put them into one big bag, rummaging around for more with his hand, but he didn't find any.
He went upstairs and found more, shoving them all into the bag.

When he was done with this house, he moved onto the next one, where he met Myungjun.
"Find anything?"

"Yes. I have found a Kilogram worth of cocaine and ecstasy."
"Holy shit. It's the way I probably found something along those lines of weight too." He said, holding up a heavy bag.

Eunwoo suddenly heard a snap from about 4 houses down, perking up as his light flashed yellow.

"Eh? Earth to Eunwoo? What's up?" Myungjun said, frown visible on his face.
"I have heard something. It may be worth investigating."

Myungjun nodded, bringing the drugs back to his car and locking them in there.
He took out his gun, and Eunwoo followed along, staying behind the police officer as he went to the house that the android told him about.

There was no boards on this house, and the windows were shut with curtains covering them.
An old rocking chair sat beside on the porch, one leg broken with bugs crawling all over it.

"God fucking - it stinks so bad.. " Myungjun whispered, revolted by the strong smell.
Eunwoo scanned the house, but it wouldn't let him - there was something restricting his ability to scan it.

However, his scanner flashed and he saw a camera.
He tilted his head at it, and deactivated it, hearing a loud curse.
Myungjun aimed his gun, knocking down the door as the two burst inside.

It went silent- the only sound being heard was the door behind them slamming into the wall.

Eunwoo scanned the house again, motion sensors picking up motion upstairs.
He could see that there was 4 people upstairs, and one on the 3rd floor of the abandoned house.

"They are upstairs." Eunwoo whispered, and Myungjun nodded, heading slowly up there.
He pulled the gun on 4 men, who seemed to be sitting at a table, inhaling white powder.

"Hands behind your back and on your knees!" Snarled the omega, aiming at them.
The 4 men turned around, one of them immediately falling to their knees.

They seemed to be out of it - but not completely, as the first one charged at him.
Myungjun shot him in the leg, making him fall down as the other 3 got up.

Eunwoo's light flickered red, and he growled lowly, aiming his gun at one of the omega men there.
"Hands. Behind your back. You heard the Captain." Eunwoo growled, and he fell to his knees again, shaking in fear.

There was another bang, and a thud, Eunwoo quickly looking back to see Myungjun on the ground, clutching his leg.
"Fucking bitchass.. and where do you think you're going?! Eunwoo, get him..!" Myungjun snapped weakly, pointing to the man running down the stairs.

Eunwoo grabbed the cuffed man by the collar.
"Stay here." He snarled, and ran after the man, knocking him to the ground and handcuffing him too.

He dragged him up the stairs, light flashing red when he saw the pale officer being held at gun point by the man that was at the 3rd floor previously.
"Put the gun down, Sir." Eunwoo said calmly, holding his hands up.

"Where's your gun? You're armed, aren't you? Take it out or he dies!" The panicked man growled, shoving the gun into the officers throat.

"I am not armed, Sir. Back away from him." Eunwoo lied, lowering his hands, patting his pockets as if to show there was nothing there.

"You are a liar! I bet you have one.. you should've not come here. This is our business, and just ours!"

"A business that is, in fact, illegal by law." Eunwoo corrected, light spinning red when he heard the click of a gun being loaded.
"Stop being fucking smart with me. Get out of here, bring me any drugs you took from us, and give us your car. Or do you want him to die?"

Myungjun groaned when the gun was right up to his jaw, feeling lightheaded.
He saw the androids light flickering between orange, yellow and red.
He looked extremely confused.

If he could, Myungjun would scold the shit out of him. Was he actually pondering whether to let the guys get away or let him die?

"I.." He started, voice glitchy, as if hesitating.
"I am afraid I cannot do that."

There was a couple of bangs, and Myungjun kicked the man away, grabbing him and cuffing him.
"You're gonna fucking rot in hell, asshole!" Myungjun hissed.
He whipped around and saw Eunwoo, blood pouring from the holes on torso his head, while his system processed everything.

"Holy fuck- Eunwoo!" He breathed out, going over to him.
"I am fine. Your leg-"

"I am fine too! Come on, we need to get these guys and get you to Electro.corp, fast." He said, seeing how his light was glowing red.
He heard shifting, and whipping around, he saw the man he cuffed with a bomb.

Eunwoo's software registered the bomb as it was thrown near them.
"Come on, let's get down quickly-"

Eunwoo staggered up, and pushed the Captain out of the room.
"Eunwoo?! What the fuck-"

There was a loud explosion, Myungjun being thrown back a bit because of the impact.
His head thumped with the blood loss, but he quickly got his walkie talkie out.

"I need emergency back up.. and an ambulance. Engineers too- quick!" He growled, and a voice responded confirming his request.

He clutched at his leg, getting up and limping into the room, eyes widening at the view there.
All of the men there were dead except for the one downstairs-

Myungjun dropped to his knees when he saw Eunwoo. He was bleeding, there was no light flashing. Not even red.
Half of his face was gone, and instead, there was just plastic. His eye was just a red ball there now, and his mouth leaked blood. His clothes were raggedy, some of his burnt chest exposed.

"No.. no.." He whispered, pulling the android onto his lap.
"No- fuck!" He snapped, softening and running a hand through his synthetic hair.

"Fucking biology!" He snapped again, wiping his tears away aggressively.
He pulled him in close, all of the fans inside him dead silent.
He heard police sirens, and ambulance ones too.

There was medics running in, and he could see some engineers too.

He didn't want to let the android go, but he mustered up the strength and let them take him as the medics tended to his leg.

"Holy shit. What the hell happened here?" The voice of his friend, Tae, came.
"A bomb happened! Exploded half of the room, and.. and.."

Tae was quite shocked to see tears slipping down the Captain's cheeks.
"Don't tell me you're crying over a robot, Myungjun. "

Myungjun sat in silence as they tended to his leg.
Once they finished, he got up and wiped his tears away.
He looked at Eunwoo once more, before turning away.

"No. I don't cry over pieces of plastic."
