Chapter EIGHTEEN

Eunwoo spun around, seeing a man with a large scar running down his face there.

"Hey hey, calm down. You ain't getting hurt.. unless you pull some shit on us. I'm Seungho. Alpha of the pack here. And you are..?"

Eunwoo scanned his facial features, it confirming that, indeed, his name was Seungho.
"I am Eunwoo. I need to get back up the mountain, but there is no signal- I mean. There is no evident path that I could use." Eunwoo said, trying to keep as low profile about his android-ness as possible.

Seungho raised an eyebrow, noticing the purple stains.
"Uh. Yeah, I'll get you back up there.. but come with me. We need to check you over for wounds -"

"I'm quite fine and well oiled- uh. I am okay, there is no wounds, no nothing. I just need-"

"Come. With me!" Seungho snarled, and Eunwoo narrowed his eyes.
Suddenly, his scanner picked up something-

He was grabbed by the arm and dragged into a camp, where wolves looked up.
They were all very rough looking. Most were injured and underweight. They all seemed.. afraid.
This was very unsettling, and whatever the hell was happening in this camp. He had to get out of here, quickly.

"Please do let go of my arm, sir. I must get going."
"What rank are you?"

Eunwoo wondered whether he should respond - before he finally gave in.
"Alpha, though that is of no importance-"

He was thrown into a ring of some sort, and he heard howls of delight start up.
"Well well. Another worthy opponent. Maybe my son wasn't the only piece of shit that could talk down on me like that."

Seungho appeared in his wolf form. He was insanely large for an Alpha, and he bore all of the scars on his wolf like he did in his human form.
"I beg your pardon?"

"Do you know who I am? Do you know the shit you just got into, son?"
Eunwoo blinked.

"No."

Wolves snickered, and the man growled.

"I am the most feared wolf on all of this land. I have killed wolves beyond your understanding of numbers. You with your-"

"You have murdered innocent people? That is a criminal offense, sir. I will have to take you in." Eunwoo said, hoping the yellow light hadn't been noticed.

".. Take me in where? What the fuck are you on?"
Eunwoo blinked.
"Police station, no? You have breached law. I will need to take you in so you can admit to your crimes in-"

A hard blow was dealt to his head, making him fall over.
His jaw twisted out of place, light flashing red.
Howls of disgust erupted when they saw his jaw, making him feel a bit frustrated.

"Fucking pathetic. Already down in one shot? And you don't smell like an Alpha to me. Those pheromones seem a little fake.."

He burst into laughter.
"Hiding your real rank, huh? Hilarious!"
Laughter came from all sides of the ring, making him get up.
Eunwoo looked Seungho dead in the eye, grabbed ahold of his jaw, and shoved it back into place.

"What the fuck-"
"Do not assume things you do not have a certainty of." Eunwoo said, "Now. Tell me, how do I get up the mountain?"

"I'll tell you. Oh, I'll tell you. But first, how about a little duel, huh?"
"You will regret this.. "

"Pfft, look at this fucker. So full of himself." Seungho laughed, positioning himself.
Eunwoo shifted into his form, making a blinding light so he didn't see the mechanical parts taking place.

He shook himself from the snow, and looked down at him.

Seungho lunged at him, Eunwoo quickly dodging and letting him fall forwards.
"You need to work on your reflexes, sir." He said plainly, Seungho snarling and going at him again.

This time he had managed to jump on him, biting into his neck.
He jumped off quicker than anything, whimpering at some of his chipped teeth.

"What the fuck are you?!" He snapped, clearly panicked.
Eunwoo turned to him.
"How can I get up the mountain?"

Seungho panted, attempting to make rationality of this situation.
Eunwoo grew impatient, shifting back.
"I will get going. You do not seem in the right mental state to answer my question. Good day, Sir."

Eunwoo began leaving the camp, mechanical ears moving when he heard some rustling behind him and chatter breaking out.

Mission failed.

He huffed, looking around to see any possible path he could take.
There was a stream going down the middle of the small forest, so he began following it.
He saw a couple of animals roaming the area, such as deer, hare and even bears. Wolves were a very common sight, too. Though they weren't the hybrid kind.

He saw an old cabin in the distance, but he ignored it when he saw smoke coming out of the chimney. He needn't interact with too much people.
Suddenly, his scanner picked up a narrow path.
He turned to face it, light flickering orange.

"There." He whispered to himself, heading towards that path.
Walking up it, he noticed how unsteady it actually was. If too much pressure was put on it, it could potentially collapse. He had to be very careful.

The walk was tricky - it was an insanely narrow path. One wrong step, and he would be sent tumbling down the mountain again. And with his damaged neck and wrist, he wouldn't like to experience more damages.

He almost sighed in relief- something he picked up from Captain Myungjun- when he got to the top of the mountain.
He almost immediately picked up a scent, a bunch too.
Heading towards the source, he soon realised he was back at the scene that they were at today.

"There you are! Officers have been looking for you, Captain Myungjun went on a search too. Where did you go?"

Eunwoo turned around to see a detective there.
"Oh. Good day, Sir. I was investigating a potential suspect not far out from here. Unfortunately, I lost track of him." He said, hiding information about the other pack.

"Oh, right. Don't run off like that again. Captain said he's not happy with you running off like that without his permission."
"I apologize for my actions. I will make sure no such thing happens ever again."

The detective wandered off towards some of the evidence, beginning to inspect it, when he heard more rustling.

"There you- fucking are! Where the hell were you?!" Myungjun's voice came, obviously angry.
"I spotted a potential suspect, Captain. I wanted-"
"You could have told me before you went! You left your shit behind, I was worried!"

"I am very sorry for-"
"You know where you can shove your programmed sorry's up? Come on, we need to finish investigating this area." Myungjun scowled, in a bad mood as he pushed past Eunwoo.

Eunwoo's light flickered red, before it went back to white.

He'd have to be very careful about how he approached some of the cases from now on.
