Regret: Part 33
Gil jumped into his own window, landing into the room that he and Aiden shared with a slight thump. Wiping off his outfit, he took off his mask and the rest of the black disguise that covered his clothes and skidded it lazily under the bed. Then he shut the window, closed the shutters, and turned on the light.
He stretched out his arms and legs, right before taking the glass shards in the bag out of his inventory and hiding it under a large floorboard. He pulled it out and stuffed the bag inside.
Right as he was going to fix the floorboard and about to get up the door opened, and he froze, feeling chills run up his spine.
"Gil?" Aiden asked, caution suddenly piping in his voice. "What happened? Where were you?"
He unfroze and stood up turning around to face him. He placed his hands at his sides and hoped for the best. Aiden stared at him for a moment, and then at the ground where Gil was hiding the bag. He stared at it for a moment before giving him a look of horror and realization.
"It was you." His voice came out like a whisper, and Gil raised an eyebrow.
"What?"
"God dammit it was you." Aiden said, louder, anger penetrating his mind and heart, furiously pounding on its walls.
"I don't have the slightest idea what you're talking about." The other male replied coolly, swiftly using his foot to kick the floorboard into place.
"It was you this entire time," his voice rose, fists clenching at his sides. "-you're the one who shot Jesse-"
Gil suddenly turned cold, his expression changing from monotone to cruel. He pointed a finger at Aiden.
"You just need to keep your mouth shut." He exclaimed, voice a harsh whisper. "Or something bad is going to happen, got it?"
Aiden looked at him incredulously, resisting the urge to punch him in the face. He was shocked at Gil's conformation.
"We can live here! We can have a life! You don't want that? You said it yourself, you want a second chance! You really want to throw this all away for some stupid-what? Revenge?"
"You wanted that too, remember?" Gil cried, waving his arms around. "You helped Maya and I back in Sky City! They took everything from us, don't you remember?"
"Please, we've changed, haven't we? I just want...I just want a happy life now. Forget about the past, we can make it better. Forget about this, payback." Aiden shook his head. "It'll only make things worse. And things are going so well right now, you really want to screw that up?"
Gil gave his friend a hard glare.
"I think that's the point."
"We've finally got a second chance. What was all that for? A show? Us begging for a chance, was that all fake?" He asked, flabbergasted at him.
"We act kind and loving now, put on a disguise and treat them like friends. They finally trust us, well, Jesse does anyway-" Gil put on a nasty grin, and then suddenly-
Creak.
"What was that?" He whipped his head to the side, certain something had moved. Or perhaps, someone was watching. Aiden sighed, putting a hand on his forehead, dismissing it.
"No one cares. Just...go back to bed."
Forgetting about what Gil was hiding under the floorboard, he exited the room, and closed the door, disbelief running through his mind.
What both of them were oblivious to, was that someone was there, listening, the window open slightly a crack.
Unfortunately, it was very easy to mix both of them up.
**************************
"They're going to find out, one way or another."
That's what Aiden told Gil, over and over until it was stuck repeatedly in his head like a broken record. He was right, in a way.
But not yet. He had everything planned. And he wondered how Aiden would react once they found his own blood on the shard and not his.
He couldn't wait to see the look on his face, defeated, confidence crumbling like a broken wall. Call it cruel, but it would feel so satisfying.
Lukas was pointing the sword at Aiden's chest, who was on his knees, hands up in surrender as he looked down at the ground, breathing heavily.
When Gil and the rest of them came into the room, Aiden lifted his head up and scowled. He pretended to gasp, but his eyes told a different story.
"What's going on?" Petra asked, curiously and cautiously. She was fiddling with some sticks in her hands, turning them over and over nervously.
"It's Aiden. The blood, it matches." Ivor exclaimed in a bitter tone. He had his hands on his hips, eyes traveling around the room.
The redhead gaped at him for a moment, and then placed a hand on her forehead, thinking it over and taking it in.
"Oh, Notch, I don't even know how Jesse's going to react." She said in a hushed voice, pacing a bit back and forth.
Maya grabbed Gil's arm, tightly for support. He could practically sense her heart beat go faster.
After a few moments, before anyone spoke, the door burst open, and out came Jesse with an Axel right behind.
Gil watched gloriously as Aiden snapped his head to look towards her, looking guilty as ever. His hands and lips trembled and the look on his face was priceless. Bags were more visible under his eyes, like stress had caught up to him, and he shook his head slightly. The usual confident side of him was gone, replaced with anger, fear, and desperation. Jesse looked as if she were going to cry, looking at him in disbelief, her breaths short and hastened.
He stopped himself from smiling, patting Maya on the arm with fake sympathy.
Aiden was finally broken. And he was the one who did it.
I'm so freaking impatient ahh
Just one more chappie after this before we go back to Jesse's P.O.V. if all goes as planned ;)
