When Ash arrived at Professor Kukui's, Hau came running up to him. 'Do you think Professor Kukui would mind if I watched Hannah's contest with you?' He said. 'She said if I don't, she'll boot me to Akala.' (I am not like that)

'Yeah!' Ash said. 'Let's go inside.'

As Serena and her friends were arriving at the contest arena, she saw an unfortunately familiar face.

It was Tyson, who was arguing with a contest offical. The offical called sercurity, and when he was leaving, he started to shout. 'Contests are for girls!'

'Well, my friend Drew here and I completely disagree.' a voice said. It was a girl, with brown hair and blue eyes. Beside her was a boy with green hair.

Hannah and Crystal started whispering. 'Is that May?' Hannah whispered.

'Yes!' Crystal said back. 'I think she travelled with Ash. She's a top co-ordinator!'

Serena felt a pang of jealousy. A top co-ordinator? Serena hadn't even won enough ribbons to compete in the Grand Fesitval. She was also quite pretty. How could Serena compare to her? (serena no girl you compare to may easy)

Tyson sulked away, muttering under his breath.

'Oh um, May?' Crystal said.

May turned around. 'Oh hello. What are your names? Are you in the contest today?'

The girls all nodded. 'I'm Crystal.'

'Hannah, howdy.'

'I'm Serena, it's nice to meet you.'

May smiled. 'I feel like I recognize you, Serena.'

'She did showcases in Kalos!' Hannah said. 'And she travelled with Ash. You travelled with him right?'

The girl nodded. 'Yeah I travelled with him.'

'Are you in the contest today?' Crystal asked.

May shook her head. 'Nope. I'm looking for talent that could do contests in Sinnoh. My friend Dawn is doing the same thing in Johto, while doing contests there.' She paused. 'You guys should probably go get ready now. We need to as well.' She said, looking at Drew.

'Are you guys dating?' Crystal said.

May and Drew went bright red. Drew started coughing, and May started stuttering.

'Oh my Arceus,' said Hannah, 'It's really obvious. You at least like each other.'

Serena directed her friends away from the immobilised pair. 'Let's go sign in.'

'But –' Crystal started, but Serena gave her a look that kept her quiet. She signed the three in, and they went to the competitors' room to prepare their pokémon.

Crystal sent out her Sylveon, and started grooming her glittering fur. Hannah sent out her Togekiss, and started to remind the flying type of the routine they planned out. Serena sent out her Braixen, and brushed her tail.

'Can we have your attention please!' The announcer on the television said, directing everyone's attention to the screen. 'We are very lucky, as we have not one, but two very special guests. But they will not be performing, but scouting talent. Please welcome May and Drew!'

May and Drew did a quick performance with a Glaceon and a Roserade. The audience cheered wildly. They then sat with the judges, and watched the co-ordinators intently.

'Competitor 18?' One of the officals said. Serena stood up, put Braixen back into her pokéball, Hannah and Crystal wished her luck, and the blonde ran out to to the stage.

'Braixen, come out!' Serena tossed her pokéball.

'Finally, Fire Blast!' (okay you know what Braixen's performance kinda looks like) The flames danced around the room, and Braixen did a pose with her stick pointing at the audience.

'Hannah, I'm really nervous.' Crystal said.

Her friend looked at her. 'Why? What's wrong?'

Crystal sighed. 'It's just that my parents are out there in the audience.'

'Come on Crystal,' Hannah said, 'There's something else bothering you. What is it?'

'I haven't asked my parents if I can go to Alola yet.'

'And Serena has a perfect score of 30, meaning she is now in first place!' The offical said.

Serena hugged Braixen, and trainer and pokémon walked back to the competitors room. She met Hannah on the way, who gave her a thumbs-up.

'Talk to Crystal.' she said. Hannah was then rushed to the stage. Serena sat down next to her blue haired friend.

'Okay Togekiss! Come on out!' Hannah said. She tossed her pokéball, and her Togekiss appeared in a sprinkle of pink sparkles. The crowd oohed. 'Morning Sun!' A glowing sun appeared above Togekiss, making the audience squint. Sparkles appeared around the pokémon. 'Air Slash!' Togekiss flapped her wings, and the sun broke into white, and yellow sparkles which floated around the room.

Hannah looked very happy with that. 'Dazzling Gleam!' Sparkles spread out around the room, looking like pulsing stars. They then burst into smaller sparkles and floated to the floor. The crowd clapped. 'Air Slash slow, then Aura Sphere fast!' Togekiss flapped her wings again, and and long, white gashes slowly moved forward. Then a glowing blue orb appeared, and passed through the Air Slash, making a blue puff of smoke.

'Yes! Now, like we practised. Morning Sun!' Togekiss made a sun appear, and sent it moving around the room slowly, leaving a trail of yellow and white sparkles. 'Now!' Togekiss flew into the sun, and sent firework-like trails around the room. 'We're done!' Togekiss flew around Hannah to land by her side.

After a near perfect score of 29.8, and a nod from May, Hannah went back to the competitors room to see Crystal waiting for her turn. The brunette gave a big grin, and quickly hugged her friend. She then joined Serena to watch Crystal's performance.

'Sylveon, I choose you!' Crystal threw her pokéball, and in a swirl of blue and pink stars, her blue Sylveon appeared. 'Hidden Power!' A grass green orb was flung up. 'Swift!' With a swipe of her tail, stars appeared, making the orb burst into sparkles.

'Moonblast!' Crystal yelled. Sylveon made a pink glowing orb. 'Draining Kiss!' Sylveon jumped up and kissed the Moonblast, making sparkles and kissy-lip particles float around the room. (I must say, never thought I would write a sentence like that) 'Hidden Power, Moonblast, then Swift!' The green orb was hit by the Moonblast, making it burst into sparkles, and then the stars collided with the pink orb, making pink smoke with green sparkles fill the room. Sylveon used her ribbons to fan away the smoke to reveal her in a pose. 'We're done!'

'Now the results are in, we will tell you who is battling who.' The offical said.

Crystal looked miserable. 'I probably didn't even get in to the battle round.'

'Nonsense,' Hannah said, 'You came fourth. I was keeping track.'

Serena shushed them and pointed to the screen. 'The first battle, Serena and Erin!' Serena was happy she didn't have to face any of her friends, unless she made it to the final. 'And the second battle, Hannah and Crystal!'

Both Hannah and Crystal looked at each other. 'Let the best co-ordinator win.' Hannah said.

Crystal repeated after her friend. 'Let the best co-ordinator win.'
