Chapter Twenty-Nine
I was just scared and hurt

3rd person pov

Indiana hadn't gone home that night, she stayed at the stables with mac. in the morning, she grabbed the change of clothes from her bag and changed quickly due to the fact that it was the fourth of july celebration and Indiana had to look presentable. she had taken a shower the day before when she snuck in for the night and then she snuck back out. when she got dressed, she walked out of the room and saw Marcus waiting there for her

"knew you would be here" he said and she sighed , shrugged and began to stare at her shoes,

"I cant stop thinking about it y'know, I think something is wrong with me. i wasn't mad that it came back. I was just scared and hurt. " Indiana said and he ran his hands over her arms and hugged her as she hugged him back softly and they took a deep breathe together.

"we do have to head to the main land, so come on diana. we have a long way to go" he said and they walked to Indianas car as they drove to the mainland and indiana found mia and zoe together with Aaron and frank

"zoe, mia!" indiana called and they turned to her as she walked over with Marcus and she hugged them both. they didn't hug her before when she told them but right there in that moment, they could feel that maybe all indiana needed was for someone to say that it was going to be okay and that she would be okay.

"do you think the mayors still mad at me?" zoe asked and indiana nodded as she chuckled under her breathe

"I think that she may hate you more then she hates me right now" indiana said and mia seethed.

"and you did publicly accuse her of stealing a herd of wild horses and ruined her daughters birthday surprise" Frank said and indiana laughed

"ladies and gentlemen, I give our olympic hopeful , callum elphick and runner-up, gaby grant" the mayor said and indiana yelled for gaby as she stayed quiet for callum and Marcus noticed. they then watched the three girls do a cheer for him

"oh god that's just horrible" she said to herself and Marcus laughed as did she and zoe. mia smiled at the couple as indiana smiled at zoe and mia too. indiana felt comfortable with them

"I'm gonna miss this weird little island, even you, famous cousin zoe but ill miss you especially indiana" Aaron said and indiana stepped forward as she hugged him and he hugged her back. she felt the need to continue to hug people or hold them close and make sure that they know that she cares.

"maybe you don't have to miss me, maybe me and raven can come back with you" zoe said and indiana shared a look with mia who looked at the ground and indiana grabbed mias hand and squeezed as frank, Aaron and zoe walked away and went home.

"are you alright?" Marcus asked her as mia walked away from them and she sighed and shrugged her shoulders.

"we need zoe more then she knows and she just can't see that but I don't want mia to miss her too much but zoe needs to stay and we cant lose her" indiana said and Marcus nodded as he grabbed her hand and they went back to the stables and walked in to see heather and winnie watching princess

"well she looks like shes enjoying herself. you know, grooming is a good way for you to bond with your horse" Marcus said and indiana walked away as she grabbed a saddle and she brought it over to the girls

"indiana is that true?" winnie asked and they all turned to her as she laughed and nodded

"the truest thing I've heard in a while" she replied and they all smiled and nodded as did she.

"this stuff is amazing!" heather told them

"we nearly used the whole bottle!"winnie stated and heather held up the bottle as susie and mia walked by

"susie, think! where would you put it? you know today's important for me I need to look perfect. my hairs a mess and you have lost my expensive shampoo" mia said and she stormed off

"well I am getting out of the mia storm as fast as I can" indiana said and she left with Marcus following close behind her like it was nothing. they held hands as they walked together and stuck together as close as they could. indiana walked to macs stall with Marcus and they got him out as Marcus got monty and they decided that maybe going on a hack would help them stay calm and remember who they were.

they rode out into the fields as they stayed together and they let themselves feel the air around them. indiana felt calm in the moment as she knew the air would be okay around them as they would be okay.

"we should head back for the opening. we have to look presentable and ready which I'm not sure that we do right now" indiana said and Marcus laughed as did she and they both smiled. they turned back to the stables and they rode back. indiana put mac back in his stall as Marcus put monty in his and indiana walked into the tack room to see zoe standing there.

"so you're really going to leave?" indiana asked zoe and zoe sighed as she nodded and indiana nodded too. she took off her ring and she handed it to zoe as zoe looked at it

"indiana I cant take this from you" zoe tried but indiana shook her head

"you have to z. this is a parting gift, thank you for letting me be me and thank you for caring" indiana said and she hugged her before they went to the door and frank was there

"and you say I sneak around" zoe said and indiana laughed

"come with me grandaughter number 1, aaron has a surprise for you" he said and he led zoe out out as indiana followed after them. she walked into the room and she sat down next to Marcus as frank walked in with zoe and uncovered her eyes.

"whats going on?" zoe asked

"sit down, watch this" aaron said and zoe sat down as they watched the video of her and smiled. they all clapped as zoe stood up

"thank you for everything you've done for me" Aaron said to her

"oh stop" zoe said

"this might not have been the perfect summer but who needs perfect when you're having a fun time" aaron spoke

"bright fields needs you" Marcus spoke up

"you have to stay" Heather stated

"I didn't work this hard making you my girlfriend and getting back on top for you to leave and miss my moment of loving triumph" mia said and indiana chuckled under her breathe.

"what do you say?" aaron asked and they all stared at her

"I just.. can I - can I have a minute?" she asked and they all stood up as they left the room together. indiana wrapped her arm around marcus as they walked out of the room. that was until zoe rode off of raven with a determined look on her face and indiana knew that look.

indiana just didn't know what she was expecting and she didn't know if she was prepared for what she was going to see.
