Chapter Thirteen
Don't call me that

3rd person POV

pin was gone and so was Marcus. Indiana didn't know what to do with herself, she felt helpless and alone at the very moment and all she could think about was the fact that when she was alone, she acted out of turn and out of hand. she knew that if she let herself spiral, she would lose sight of everything but right now that didn't feel like such a bad idea. She knew what today was , the renaissance fair which was also considering the maid of the island. Indiana was going to do it with mac like she always did.

today she sat in the arena as she waited for the other girls , if there was one thing about Indiana it was that she was always early. When she was late, it never ended well for anyone and she knew that. so here she was in the arena with mac as she practiced with him for a short while.

"diana" someone called and she looked up to see james

"don't call me that" she retorted as she slowed mac down and stopped in front of james

"i thought everyone called you that" he replied and she shook her head

"one person calls me that , he's the only person allowed to" she stated and he nodded

"you know i see the way you are with him" james said and indiana nodded

"who? mac or marcus?" she asked and he laughed

"both? you have a good relationship with them but enough talking, let's get you two riding again" he said and indiana nodded as she turned mac and rode around again

"how long have you had mac?" james questioned

"4-5 years now" she stated and he nodded

"he listens to you, a lot better then anyone else" james stated

"yeah well he lives at my house and he's my horse" she said and she hopped off of him as she pet his mane and he nudged her arm. she smiled before she looked at james

" i truly have no notes to give, you two are amazing better then i expected" he said and indiana almost took offense but she smiled and nodded

"thanks" she said and she led mac out of the arena as zoe walked in with raven and they smiled at each other

"good luck z" she said and she walked past the girl as she led mac into the yard and looked at everyone. she noticed mia and jade talking to each other before she brought mac over to the water hose and sprayed him down as she watched the dirt and grime off of him.

she brushed him after and smiled at him softly before she let him dry and let his coat become dry and clean. she sat down on the fence as she looked at max and sighed

"it's not easier without him is it?" she asked and she felt mac shake his head and she nodded as she put on his cover and led him to his trailer. she locked him in and climbed out to see zoe and mia talking to each other and shake each other's hand which she didn't like. she looked at the clothes that were next to her and then around. she clicked the door of the trailer and put on the clothes before they drove to the maid of the island and she got out. she looked around and smiled at the sight

"warrior indi, she's never looked better" Becky said and indiana laughed at her and smiled

"becky you look amazing it's insane" she told her and becky smiled before she looked at mac and then at indiana

" you two are matching" jade said and indiana nodded before they looked up and saw pin walking in with holloway. the first round began and indiana stood between a girl and mia. she shoot her arrow after and hit it in the middle as she smiled and they all cheered for her

"bullseye from Indiana stone, taking her to lead" Elliot called and she smiled at them and nodded as she put the bow and arrow back, and then she left the others behind. she noticed gabby watching her and she smirked and stood next to mac

"didn't think you enjoyed this stuff" pin said and she looked at the ground as she shrugged and looked around

"Something has to take my mind off of Marcus" she spoke and he nodded before he looked at mac and then at her.

"pin, I could use your help with this" Gabby called and she tilted her head at Indiana trying to intimidate her but Indiana laughed under her breathe and she shook her head

"good luck out there, these guys play to win" he said and she scoffed

"I don't need luck, I can handle myself" she retorted and Pin nodded

"yeah I know" he spoke and he turned away from her as he walked to gabby and she smiled at him. Indiana looked at mac and nodded

"I got this" she spoke and then she heard the announcement and she walked over to see gabby and mia facing each other. She stood next to zoe as they watched closely and Mia got knocked off. Indiana ran in and helped her up

"that was for pin" Mia said and Gabby rode by

"see you in the next round Indiana" Gabby spoke and Indiana watched as she looked at the girls and they both nodded

"I can do this. for us" she spoke and she led mac into the arena as she got on mac and looked at him

"and now its time for the final, holloways gabby versus bright fields Indiana" Elliot announced , Indiana held the pole close to her and She pet mac mane as he nudged her hand and she smiled.

"its just you and me, I trust you" Indiana said to mac and she rode forward, she dodged gabbys hit and she smiled under her mask as they went around again but it all stopped when bob came through and stopped everything. Indiana stayed on mac as she watched and looked around. that was until holloway came at them and Indiana scoffed. she led mac away and to the side as she watched the others get scolded.

"never in the history of this competition has there ever been such an unbridled violence" Elliot said and Indiana leaned the fence as she watched

"so.. none of you have won. this year our most long-standing living maid will wear the crown for the second time. ladies and gentlemen, wilma" they clapped and she stepped forward as she got crowned. when they got back to bright fields, Indiana sat with mac in his stall as she sighed and pet him

"one of us needs to win nationals" Zoe said to Indiana and she nodded

"this is about Meredith isn't it?" Indiana asked

"if we fail, she'll sell them." Zoe spoke and Indiana scoffed

"Like hell she will" Indiana stated and she looked up at Mac.

she couldn't lose him, she needed mac more then anything. if Marcus couldn't be there, she needed mac to be. she missed Marcus more then anything and he felt the same way about her but they didn't know how to tell each other.

Indiana was once again at a cross roads.
