Chapter Ten
just you and me

3rd Person POV

it was show day and there Indiana sat in macs stable. she was leaning against the wall as she looked at her uniform and nodded in approval. she was happy that she got to compete, it meant that people would finally see Indiana for an amazing rider and not the girl with a deceased mom. she leaned her head against the wall as she looked at mac and smiled. she heard a knock on the stall door and she looked up to see Marcus looking over the door at her.

"hey" he said and he opened the door as he walked in and sat down on the ground next to her

"hi" she said and he leaned his head on her shoulder as she leaned hers onto his and they smiled

"you ready for today?" he asked and she shrugged as she nodded

"yeah, its just" she began but she didn't know how to even begin the sentence without it coming out wrong

"people have always seen you as one thing and now they'll finally see you for something different and it scares you" he stated and she smiled

"wow look at you knowing things" she nudged him and he laughed as he nudged her back

"Indiana I believe that no matter what, you have always been an amazing rider and if people cant see that after today, then they are blind. you have always been more then what people see or think you are and you need to know that. now lets get these horses tacked up and in the trailers so we can get going and you can show everyone the dia that I know" he said and he stood up as she stood with him and she smiled. she kissed his cheek softly as he blushed and then looked at mac.

"you guys got this, I belive in you" he said and he left the stable as Indiana followed him out and tacked up mac.She brought him to the trailer and put him in before she smoothed out her shirt and she turned with everyone to see zoe walking forward with sam.

"what? what are you guys staring at?" zoe asked and pin walked over to talk to her and Indiana smiled as she got in the trailer with the girls. she sat off to the side as she put her headphones in and began to listen to her music. she leaned her head up against the wall as she stared at the ceiling and sighed.

"we're here!"becky said excitedly and they all climbed out of the trailer as they looked around and noticed everyone. Indiana was usually a confident person but right now in that very moment, she felt scared. people would be staring and she knew that. she looked at Marcus who automatically looked at her and noticed her hand shaking softly. she looked around trying to cover her nerves but it wasn't working. she watched zoe talk to everyone and she only wished she could be that confident. she only wished that she wasn't so scared of what everyone was thinking or saying because this was Indiana and she hated fear. she hated the feeling of being scared and she hated knowing that people could tell when she was scared. she took her earbuds out as she walked away from the main arena and she sat down.

"Dia" she heard and she looked up to see Marcus

"hey" she said to him and he sat down next to her as he grabbed her hand and ran his thumb over her hand

"take a breathe indi. i know this is scary and I know you don't want to admit that but we need you today. just breath" he spoke and she nodded

"ill try" she said and she kissed his cheek before they both heard it

"could all the participants make their way to the arena?" they heard and they walked to the arena. Indiana stood between Marcus and becky as they waited at the arena

"ladies and gentlemen,its time to announce our stables star of the year. the competition was very fierce this year but one exemplary individual just inched it. the winner is samantha Myers." They heard and they clapped for her but Indiana noticed the look on zoes face and then on sams. She knew the looks, the look of knowing and anger on zoe and the look of guilt on sams.

"son of a bitch" Indiana said under her breathe before she heard cheering again and sam was holding the award. Indiana scoffed as zoe walked away and then Marcus walked to sam. Indiana watched them talk as zoe got on major and she watched mia and pin run over to her.

"Diana" she heard and she turned to see mia and she felt her back heat up. only one person could call her diana and she was pissed that mia thought that she could

"what mia?" she asked in calm anger

"you're up next, be safe and take your time. trust me you'll do amazing" Mia exclaimed and that's when they heard the announcement

"next up, Indiana Stone" she heard and she got mac as they walked to the ring and she looked around at everyone and then down at mac. She got on him as she heard cheering and she smiled

"its just you and me buddy. just you and me" She whispered and she started her round as she rode him around the ring. she ran her hand over his mane as they all clapped and she rode with him again. they got through the whole round perfectly and when they came to a stop, they looked up to see the grading.

"9,9,10" She read and she smiled as she got off of mac and looked out at the others. they all smiled as she walked out with mac but she was stopped quickly by Marcus

"YOU DID IT" he yelled out and he lifted her in the air as he spun her around and she smiled. they both smiled before they watched mia go out into the ring and do zoes round. it ended perfectly and zoe came back with raven just in time and she smiled at them

"hey boy" she said and she lifted her hand up as she pet him and zoe smiled at her

"and now, its time to announce the county show winner. this was the closest we've ever seen it with just one point in it. but it gives me great pleasure to announce that this years winner is bright fields stables" he announced and they all smiled as they ran out into the ring. Indiana stood next to marcus as they all hugged each other with happiness

"and now, to present the winners trophy, its olympic gold medalist, charlotte dujardin" he said and becky squealed as she was handed the award and they all smiled for her. she ran over and hugged her before they all decided that it was time to head home.

Indiana now stood in macs stable as she leaned against the wall and she looked at him. She heard a knock and she looked up to see marcus standing in the doorway holding his letter

"hey" she said to him and he handed it to her

"there was a scout at the school, I just cant seem to open it. you do it" he said and she smiled as she opened it and read it

"marcus.. you did it. you got in" she said and he smiled as he spun her around and then he put her down and ran his hand through her hair. she looked up at him and he looked down at her and for once, he saw her in a different light.

"dia" he said and she smiled

"do it" she spoke and he leaned down as he put his hand on her waist and she put hers on his neck. they kissed each other slowly as they both smiled into it and felt the others heat. it was them there, in that moment and that was enough for them. Indiana was happy right there and she felt like she was in the cloud 9 really closer to the stars. almost too close to them.

but what would happen if someone stayed? the someone being zoe?

she didn't know what would happen.
