GRIEF DOESN'T ONLY CONSUME ONE PERSON, it spreads. Slowly and Painfully infecting anyone within its grasp. causing the same devastating destruction as a raging wildfire jumping between Branches of trees the same way grief agonisingly rewires our minds.

Hannah Bakers death had painstakingly rewired the minds of almost every Liberty High student. Grief digging it's claws into teenagers as if they were it's prey. Yet Lana Watts, Well, She'd been Pain's Prey for as long as she could remember.

Sorrow found it's way into every aspect of her life, Leaving the agony that was now Liberty high only triggering her own brain into it's old blood thirsty habits.

Lana walked through the corridors of Liberty high, Her Lace top partially obscured by a brown hoodie that had become a staple in her wardrobe for one reason only; Her sleeves pulled into her hands almost consuming her own warmth as she stared blankly at the white flooring.

Lana approached her locker, The corridors almost silent as if all the life had been drained from the surrounding students as she fumbled with the lock opening her locker to pull out a book when she heard the familiar voice of none other than Clay Jensen; "Lana, are we still good for after school?"

"What?" She questioned eyes narrowing at the boys words. His voice had pulled her from the dark depths of her treacherous thoughts bringing her back to the confusing reality of life.

"The history group assignment? on the Roman Empire?" Clay questioned as the short brunette girl turned to face him, reminding her of what they'd spoken about only days prior.

"Right, yeah. Maybe" Lana nodded barely paying much attention to the boy before her. Her mind in another Universe as a sense of sorrow lingered over the school.

People tried to hide it. Tried to hide the grief. The pain. But even the toughest people couldn't withstand the violent destruction that came with Grief. Even Clay Jensen. Lana's eyes Flickered up to Clay having heard the sorrow he'd tried so desperately to hide within his voice yet it came to no use.

When it came to mental pain, despair. Lana became a dog, She could feel it. She could smell it. Sometimes she even thought of herself as a beacon. As if every Type of pain that could be offloaded onto a person found her. Almost as if she attracted pain, As if she was the cause of it...

"It has to be in on Wednesday" He reminded a sense of urgency in his voice as he stared down at Lana, His eyes consumed with need. Lana sighed as she searched the boys eyes for a hint as to what the need was for.

"Okay. Alright." She shrugged Turning to close her locker, Book in hand as she began walking down the corridor. Clay on her tail as they walked to class.

"I was thinking maybe we get it done then head to get Coffee or Something" A sense of desperation lingered ever so slightly within his voice as he followed the girl Who'd only spoken to him in History class, Or rather the girl that tried to only speak to him when their timetables crossed.

Lana Shrugged as the pair walked past Tyler down. Lana Looked down unable to fathom catching the other boys eyes as she drifted from the conversation.

"Lana?" Clay urged making the Girl Sigh. An Intense sense of dread spiralling through her stomach yet she fought against it nodding her head; "If you're buying"

A soft smile of relief grew on Clays face, She knew he meant well. And she knew he'd been through a lot, Everyone had. But the Tapes, The confession. They'd revealed more about the school than Lana was ever prepared for.

And some secrets, Her secrets. They had to stay hidden. And being Close to Clay, That put her secrets at risk. She couldn't do that. She'd helped, She'd helped Jessica, Tyler... But Jensen, Clay Jensen was a step too far.

He was too determined. He wanted to know everything. He wanted to know things that he wasn't ready for. And with the best intentions Clay wanted to help. But you can't help someone who's already dead, Right?
