LOG - III
An Addition to my Weird Family
I woke up, now knowing part of my history. I was the sole survivor of the Aegir 575 along with Jeamie.
But I assumed they were just immobilised, not dead. Because I'm optimistic and cool. Praise me.
" Be her ray of hope" Dr.Stace's voice ringed and echoed in my ears.
" Shut up, Stace. I'll come save you lot" I grumbled to myself.
And later that night, I was stargazing yet again when Jeamie joined me, shining that beautiful smile of hers. I took her hand as she sat on my lap, legs crossed as if announcing," This lap is occupied. Stay back" She's the cutest.
I rested my head on her scalp, my chin grazing her hair. She was young.
Too young to experience this...
But life is cruel sometimes and we humans gotta learn to live with that.
" You know something, Jason?" She started, shaking her legs, ultimately vibrating in the same position.
" Isn't tomorrow the day we landed here? I mean almost a year ago?" She asked as if confirming but I was busy occupied why she referred to be my my name and not " Brother" like she usually does.
But I decided to leave it be as we were having a moment.
" I guess it is, Jeamie. You know what? We'll go celebrate. You've never left this place, have you? We'll go on some adventure of some sorts. Explore the bigger place like I do." I whispered, still placing my chin on her head which over it in a bobbling manner.
She was surely annoyed yet, she kept her hands on my head and kept it in place.
" You know I'm a genius even considering you guys, right? I can take care of myself" Jeamie pouted her lips.
I heard the puff.
When night settled in completely and the darkness swallowed the light, she said she had some trouble sleeping and so, she slept on my lap as I went through the data on the intelli Pad.
I put it on her head of course. Why waste energy when you have a portable table with you?
By the time I finished, I was convinced. If I didn't fail on full diving, the circuits wouldn't have fried the system and they wouldn't have had to strand us on Reflection.
" ATACC was actually your personal innovation. A prototype for something much more important, brother." Jeamie had told me. I tried to wrap my head around how I was still alive and young if it was mass produced in the Aegir when it was halfway through the modifications.
The digits showing how many years had passed. It seemed uncanny how I was alive and well.
After choking some more files, I found that I was mostly on cryogenic sleep most of the time unless my presence was involved. On the other hand, Jeamie had only been present sometimes as she set years for events she wasn't planning on missing.
I didn't know how she was this mature...
I mean, she and Stace worked on some groundbreaking things.
How she did that was the next thing to check and so I did.
Programming. She programmed her cryo chamber to relay the events of all the things she needed when she was in the ice.
A derivative of suggestive hypnotism, as it helps you capture the words even while you're asleep.
Feeling tired about a few hours later, I turned to look out the cabin.
It was almost dawn...
Oh God, she's gonna kill me. With a fear of death on mind, I set her down and set myself to at least a few hours of sleep.
And morning came, as it always does in the end.
I packed some essentials, a hatchet I made, some coconut water I stored in the disposable bottles which won't be disposed anytime soon, packed ATACC for some weird case because how could you pack something that large, and a note to record new findings, in case any were found.
Which I hoped would be the case because who wouldn't want to save an entire remnant of the human race?
When we left, Jeamie happily marched ahead, her arms flailing around as we crossed the valley into a small forest.
The forest should have been a rainforest as it was really damp and cold. I shivered to the cold and as I shook my head, I found something glinting on the top of the canopy near us.
I rushed ATACC to check it as I straddled over with my hatchet.
" HEY! HEEEYYYY! JASON!!" ATACC yelled at me even though I was just a few couple spaces behind.
But I was hearing more joy rather than fear. I ran ahead and nearly screamed out myself.
There was another pod crashed under the canopy with smoke pummelling its way making it's way to the base of the tree.
I got mixed emotions rather than one.
If there's another pod here, is the Aegir still functioning or is it an escape pod as it's in trouble? I thought to myself in a hurry.
The smoke didn't spread far. It wasn't spreading as much as I thought it would.
It was recent. Very recent.
A few hours ago? Now?
My legs started to jog and when I took the hatchet and sprinted towards the tree with fell. tried slamming the door as it was jammed severely.
And, after hitting the door for sometimes, it finally broke the hatch. I immediately covered my nose to get out of the smoke coming from inside as I carried everything I saw out. ATACC was in charge of carrying out any people who needed saving.
If any...
Which would be comforting.
By the time we got out and about, the cabin exploded soon after, making me and ATACC looking like people looking something out of a action flick.
Cool guys don't look at explosions.
What? I can't just read all the time, can I? I needed some entertainment.
" U-um, Jason? You might wanna take a look at this..." ATACC buzzed. I looked over and the words that came out were," Oh boy" accompanied with a sigh.
It was a girl.
Another person I had to protect. I carried her on my back, back to Jeamie.
Why? Why another girl? Maybe this was my fate.
" What. Was. That. Sound?" Jeamie had run over by the time we finished and she asked, curiously looking at the fire behind us. I noticed that the girl was almost my age.
" Who's this? Another person I know?" I asked her, trying to ignore how I made a possibility of a forest burning down.
" Another person we know." Jeamie uttered.
" Another friend..." ATACC agreed and ended the question then and there, rousing a little disbelief in his electric voice.
And with that, we headed back deciding that this was enough adventure for sometime.
Big day. Big adventure. Big explosions.
I entered our home as ATACC began aiding her with my little sister.
And about twenty minutes later, he rolled out.
" Due to all the anaesthetic gas she used, she should be out for another 20 hours. She's smart, letting herself get knocked out so she won't feel the pain from the whiplash. Though she's getting a devilish headache when she gets up." ATACC informed me.
And when the sun set again, I ran the girl's face on the Intelli Pad's interface.
Oh.
Did I forget to mention how she looked like? I must have forgotten to have put this in.
She had blonde hair as opposed to Jeamie's who had hazel hair. " You think she's on our side?" Jeamie interrupted my thoughts with an evil grin.
" Whichever way it goes, she has to be on our side in this place. No one can survive in this world alone" I looked at her, who looked so much at peace when she slept.
She can't be all aggressive, can she?
Turns out, I was to be disappointed and to be stood corrected...
Not even ten hours later, when we were still sleeping, our new human screamed awake, scaring the living jibbers out of both of us. She immediately took the spoon which lay near her side and threatened us with a look that probably meant:
AHEM
I'LL SCOOP YOUR EYES OUT!!!
Jeamie scurried away and hid when she calmed down but things went down when she was out.
But when she saw my face, her cheeks flushed with colour and tears streamed out her eyes.
" JASON!?" She cried, throwing the spoon and threw away, almost on ATACC who was refilling on energy and wrapping her arms onto me.
" You're alive!" She held on tighter.
Thank you ma'am, I think I'm petty much alive...
" Relax! Relax, girl!" I tried to get out of her iron grip, forgetting she wasn't like Jeamie.
Jeamie returned from her run by the time the girl started to cry on my chest.
I looked at her and gestured her to stay quiet. After sometime, she loosened her grip and looked at me with her green eyes.
It shimmered just like Reflection when I caught a glimpse of it from space. I certainly didn't remember her but by the looks of her crying and embracing me, she apparently did.
What is with this thing!? Everyone seems to know who I am! And YET I DON'T!
" Just to set things straight, I don't remember anyone I know before" I told her with a sigh.
She looked at me like she knew that already.
And apparently she did...
WHAT IS WITH THIS BEING A CONTINUOUS THING?! JUST WHAT DON'T THEY KNOW?!
I am being repeatedly disappointed today, huh?
" I still love you, no matter what!" She pulled herself up and simultaneously me down, locking her lips in mine in a swift moment, not a second wasted.
And this thought went by.
Oh boy... Trouble in line... WHOOP WHOOP....
