LOG - II

Pieces of the Past:

A month passed on from our crash. And by then, I now had made myself capable enough to climb the trees and get necessities off them.

I had to go out on an almost fully vegetarian diet when I found out using the Data Pad that Earth, the original, authentic life holder had made now inhabitable as humans exploited its resources without shame.

Trees were cut down for luxury and luxury was made from urbanising.

Animals slaughtered mercilessly for skin and for food.

Even poor hatchlings of chickens were split open for eating before they were even born. For something called omelettes.

We were savages to our own blunders but we needed help?

That's just self satisfaction.

But I WAS one of them. I don't remember what happened and I'm glad I didn't. Not this time around, I wanted to know the past.

But not all of them were like that. There were some angels among the horde of demons in a false paradise.

Famous examples of old were the ones who fought for freedom. For certain countries and for slave liberation.

Anyways moving on, now that Earth has been abandoned and defiled, we got in search and we found another new habitable planet form. Strangely as I glimpsed over my new memories, this planet seemed to be an exact replica of Earth that I was shown on the gadget.

Like a mirror, it showed the exact values and the exact co ordinates of geographical features that Earth had

Just like a Reflection...

That explains the name. Huh...

And yeah, forgot to mention that the only thing different from this planet from Earth is the fact that is... due to some reason, the genera "Homo" isn't in existence.

No. Not that Homo. I got versed in slang and I don't like it.

So no Homo, no Sapiens and it means, no humans. Maybe for the greater good...

Never mind the past. We set course anew. It's the year 575 and the Aegir is our utopia.

WAS our utopia. But my cabin like pod is ours.

Skip about a year away like scripts on a wet beach and I am pretty much capable. I can take up just about any material available and make it useful to use or to eat. By the way, going vegetarian is a good choice on this Earth as death isn't everywhere.

Sure, the cycle of life and the food chain still exists but, it is given ample time for everything in it to replenish.

Back to foods, the coconut is actually a natural energy drink. The water inside serves as an electrolyte whose formula is C6H12O6.  Glucose if you prefer the common name.

Not only that, if you observe just right, many wonders are present in nature. It's just that we don't want our minds to kneel down and grasp the sheer fact that nature is better than us humans.

Ironic.

And just as always, it was night out and so was I, stargazing. Jeamie was playing Rock-Paper-Scissors with ATACC. I closed my eyes and memories hit me.

*****

I was a killer.

I was back on Earth. Based on answers from ATACC which I managed to squeeze out, there was a war in order to choose the people who were capable or surviving any alien species when we were scouting in space under uncharted horizons.

Really questioning the decisions made.

It seemed silly to me as this planet showed no signs off foreign life forms. Only a robot and two humans. Technically, we were the aliens on this place.

And back to the memories,  I was given a hand cannon, a few magazines, a handful of grenades. And a sniper to keep distant combat. I somehow deliberately used stun bullets and changed my cannon into a stungun.

I didn't want to hurt anybody much less kill them.

The weird thing?

I won.

I was at the most kills as I was the most experiences. I wouldn't call them kills though. I prefer immobilised people.

Only ten people got through on the Trails and were granted access to this seemingly impossible mission. They were given full authority to bring a companion with them and even the right to force them to come.

Most of them wanted their loved ones or family to accompany them as they had no choice.

But a person I befriended during the Trails and I chose out off the box. I chose my sister Jeamie so I had a higher responsibility off staying alive and keeping her alive too.

Mostly uninjured.

The other guy chose his rival. A real tough choice but proved to be efficient when he started to explain.

" If I chose my rival, I would always want to prove that I'm better and so would she. We would always help each other while owing the one who helped the other" He announced during the winners farewell.

His name was a Raj Kumar. One of the Asians who joined in this force.

His rival was Parvati. Just Parvati...

She was an orphan who rose to the finals using the skills she acquired while surviving in the land of India.

Believe me when I say India was leading on in many things.

It had the highest population, the highest percentage of youth and the most concentration of people.

Don't know if it was for good or bad.

It also had great people popping in order to cure the plagues affecting their country.

It also proved to be having one of the oldest languages which had concrete proof. " Kumari Kandam's" archaeological sites were carbon dated back thousands of years.

" Ahoy, Jason!" He greeted me on the Aegir 1.

" Ready for the simulation setup?"

" You bet I am brother!" I smiled.

I sat down at the soft Si-Bed. It lets you keep your body safe while you transfer you mind into an electric interface of a robot when scouting dangerous places.

Mainly inspired by some person from Anime. We did have people from all categories.

" If it goes well, erase and store my memories in a well protected safe. I want to re experience this world from the basics." I made him promise.

" I will" I remember him smiling.

And the next thing I remember, alarms blared around the tunnels while I was strapped on the contraption.

" I'll give your sister her ATACC!" Someone shouted in my ear, rattling them. A feminine voice.

Another voice whispered, "Jason, look after your little sister, Jeamie. Be her ray of hope" Dr.Stace said in my ear and kissed my forehead.

*****

I held my hand to my head.

" Oh..." A sigh of regret.

" So that's what happened..." Jeamie had fallen asleep next to me, holding the thumb of my other hand as she was feeling cold.

My body covered her up in one arm and I carried her inside, determined to not let the second change get by.
