At first, Whydah was actually Zirce. Then I changed her name to Zirca because Zirce looked like a discount version of Circe. Then I changed it to Winter before settling on Whydah (which is also the name of a pirate ship, by the way).

I like the character I made, but not the name I made.

She was definitely themed after the witch Circe, both from the original mythology and the DC Universe version. Unlike Circe, she is actually very kind to people. The outfit itself went through several changes due to indecisiveness and realizing that it didn't really have any personality.

Then I decided, maybe I could reference Enola Holmes. I've never watched the show, but I like her outfit in the trailers and I tried to give Whydah an Enola Holmes vibe. Did it work? I'm not sure. She kind of ended up giving me Little Women vibes (probably because I saw the musical at school and I thought Amy's dress was super pretty).

But then I had a spark of inspiration from Newsies one day and made her a full-on tomboy and theatre nerd. She's a very happy, kind girl, loves to have fun with other people, not a single bad bone in her body. Still loves the color green so her pants are green.

Very fun child indeed.
