You and max were like peas in pod, always doing things together but then something happened— everything with the mind flayer. She stayed away from you to protect you but you knew nothing of this because if you did it would mean to include you, which was the last thing anyone wanted.

So after all the lies you heard, you cut her off. You wanted nothing to do with her anymore and to make matter worse, you and her enemy become really good friends.

You stood at your locker when the new (max's enemy) approached you. It was until your giggled filled the air that made max look over and see you two talking. She wasn't sure if she was jealous or maybe . . . maybe both. She was just glad that you weren't going to get caught in the crossfire of everything.

She did miss you though, a lot. But as usual, she didn't want to show it. You and the friend locked arms and begin to head to class together. Everyday you would pass by max and you two would share quick glances at each other. Except this time was different— max waved, you were hesitant but waved back anyway. So maybe when this all blows over, there is a chance that you two could be friends again.
