The war with the exiled raged on for decades. In the year 2942, we fled. Of the 100s of ships, only 27 escaped. Of all the 23 billion people on earth, only 38 million survived. Luckily, the biggest and newest colony ship known as the Mayflower made it. The Last Fleet, consisting of our command ship, the ISS Spirit Of Fire, the sister gun ships Forward Unto Dawn and Forward Unto Dusk, 3 transport ships, the front lines command ship the ISS Eisenhower, 18 colony ships, the watch ship ISS Guardian, and the Mayflower. I am Will Hardstriker, son of Commander James P. Hardstriker, leader of The Last Fleet. I currently live on the Mayflower with my mother and sister. We visit my dad often, we love to go to the Spirit of Fire (Often called SOF for short) often, the sheer size of it amazes me. It has a length of over 20 miles, a width of around 4 miles and a height of 3 miles. It can hold up to 2 million troops, each with their own room. The ship has 16 hangars, each one with four attack frigates inside, a total of 64 frigates, each one measuring 1759 feet long, 900 feet wide at the rear, which drops down to 358 feet at the front, and a height of 489 feet. Not only can the SOF hold 64 frigates, but 1228 eagles, small plane-like ships that can carry 30 soldiers. Each eagle has one 27 millimeter cannon on top, two 4 gunned turrets, and two chain guns. The bridge of the ship has 340 computers that control the large turrets , each one with one man operating it, the large windows are not glass, but a special near invincible metal that you can see through only one way. Here, I met my dad.
"I have a plan to take back earth" he says
"Seriously?" I ask
"Yes, but it would involve training all of the survivors that could be eligible to become a soldier, in classes of 61" He explains
"But why 61, not 60 ?"
"Because the best candidate from each class will become what I call a Defender." He replies
"What's a Defender?" I question
"A Defender Is an elite soldier equipped with the best weapons and armor, which we have a limited supply of. They will have three types of weapon, primary, secondary, and heavy. The primaries will be semi auto rifle, assault rifle, blast rifle, and hand cannon. The secondary will be either sniper rifle, or shotgun. The heavies will be heavy machine gun, and rocket launcher."
"But who will lead them? You can't you command the fleet, and how will you get them to join? What if they don't want to be a soldier, you can't force them, that's just not right."
"Whoa, one question at a time bud, if they don't want to join, I will convince them"
"How?"
"I've created a device that can resurrect people, but they're very expensive." He says
"But who will lead the army?" I re-ask
"You."
