Chapter 5 – A New Best Friend

Adela sat beside Sam in the garden. She examined her face and sighed.

"Thank you," Sam whispered.

Adela looked around to see who she was talking to. She slowly pointed to herself.

"Jeez, Sam," she said suddenly. "Why would you say that to me?"

"Because you got me out of t-the situation."

"That would've probably given you a death penalty by my big brother. No one wants that for sure. And no one wants to be next to Magnus when he's angry either."

Sam smiled dryly.

"He's a jerk. You know what? He banned Edmund's chocolates! Actually, everyone's chocolates because of him. He's an asshole. Also, don't tell anyone I said that," Adela added quickly.

Sam giggled. "I won't."

"How's old Brown?" Adela asked. Sam's expression darkened again.

"Dad is in a bad condition. He asked me to the work for him. The doctor's diagnosed him with-," she paused, "-with cancer. And it's bad."

"Oh," Adela said, "The medical will be managed by the Montego Family. You do not need to worry about it. It's old Brown after all. He has been working for this family since we weren't even born."

Sam's emerald-green eyes sparkled with tears. Adela could tell she was exhausted.

"Miss," Sam said slowly, "I owe you. With my life."

"Ad or Adela. And what the actual-"

"No swearing."

The voice was heavier and more manly. It was mean and demanding. It wasn't Sam's.

Adela looked around and saw Magnus appear. He plucked a flower from a nearby bush and smelled it. Adela turned around. Did he hear all that? She bit her lip. If she did, she was in big trouble.

"Where are you going," Magnus said, as Adela attempted to leave.

"No where," Adela said, rather loudly, turning back quickly.

"Have you been looking at the documents?" he asked, ignoring Sam as if she didn't exist.

"Of course! Why wouldn't I."

"That might not be what Ethan has told me, I'm afraid."

Ethan, you snitch. We have another jerk to deal with now.

"Swearing and lying," Magnus said, stretching.

Adela was relieved for the fact he didn't hear her talking shit about him.

"Ad," Magnus said, snapping her out of her thoughts.

"Yes?"

"How about a week?"

"What? A WEEK? No brother. I can't be grounded for an entire week in my room! Look, good brother. Pity your poor sister-" Adela said, holding Magnus's arm.

"Shut up, Ad," Magnus said simply.

"Oh, and I have a sports event to go to!" Adela said.

"Where did that come from?" Magnus asked, confused.

"Oh my! I'm getting late for it. Also, I'll like to take Sam with me," Adela said, moving away and taking Sam's hand.

"Ad, you are NOT taking her," Magnus said, looking at Sam with disgust.

"Of course I am! She is my new best friend now!" Adela said happily.

Sam gaped at Adela in shock and confusion.

"Ad, you did not just call her your best-"

"See you at dinner today!" Adela called back as she ran with Sam out of the garden.

As Adela closed the door behind her, she looked around her room.

"Where is Ethan," she hissed. "He's always in my room without permission, and now, when I need him for the first time, he isn't here." Sam stood beside her, giggling silently.

"What are you laughing at?" Adela said angrily.

"Nothing," Sam replied.

Adela looked at Sam for a few moments then frowned.

"We need to get dressed."

"Ok," Sam replied.

Adela called in her stylists. Sam seemed startled.

"What?" Adela asked her.

"I'm not-" Sam started, "-I can't. This is too much."

Adela shrugged. "Your choice."

Sam nodded and sat down on a nearby chair. She watched Adela get dusted with layers of makeup.

As Adela was done with her hair, she looked at the mirror. As always, she looked stunning.

"Get your ass up and put the makeup on," Adela said, going to the closet.

"You-" Sam said angrily.

"Quickly," Adela cut her off.

After a few minutes, Adela came out wearing a t-shirt representing the team she supported. She glanced at Sam who now got up to check her makeup.

"You look awful!" Adela said.

"That's rude!" Sam said with furrowed eyebrows.

"Miss," one of the stylists said, "It's her way of saying beautiful and gorgeous."

Sam looked at Adela and blinked.

"You didn't think that I actually called you-" Adela snorted.

"Yes, Ad, I actually thought you-"

"Wait," Adela said, coming closer to Sam. "What did you call me?"

Sam paused. "Ad".

"Finally, you got my name right!"

"I never got your name wrong," Sam said, confused.

"Calling me 'Miss' is wrong!" Adela said cheerfully.

Sam rolled her eyes.

"Let's get you dressed up!" Adela said, pulling her into the closet.

As they entered, Sam's eyes widened.

"This is huge!" Sam said, looking around.

"You should see Magnus's. Mine will be an apartment compared to his mansion hell of a closet."

Sam smiled and Adela took out a t-shirt, exactly like the one she was wearing.

"I don't support Man City!" Sam frowned.

"Well, I don't support Cheal-shit!" Adela countered.

"I need a Chealsea shirt!" Sam said, crossing her arms.

"No way. You're wearing this."

"Nuh-uh."

"Yuh-uh."

"Fine," Sam said sticking out her middle finger at Adela.

"You're getting bold now," Adela said, sitting down on a bean bag.

As they sat in an SUV, Sam seemed uncomfortable.

"What's wrong?" Adela said, noticing her agitation.

"I feel...rich. I am not rich; I work for you. Why then, am I-"

"Oh, shut it, Sam," Adela said.

Sam fell silent and took out her phone.

"What is that," Adela asked, her eyes wide.

Sam looked down at her phone. "It's a phone, Ad."

"What the hell are you using. This thing is ancient!"

Sam rolled her eyes. "4 models old, Ad. Nothing wrong."

"Everything is wrong. Doesn't it lag? Annoy? Stop working? Stupi-"

"Oh, shut it, Ad."

Adela took out her phone and dialed a number while glaring at Sam.

"I need a new phone," she said.

"Huh?" Sam said. "You already have one!"

"Yea, k," Adela finished the call.

"Spoiled!" Sam whispered.

"It's for you, dumbass."

Sam blinked. "Me?"

"Mhm, yes. For you."

"Damn Ad! That's too much!"

Adela gave her a bored look and mouthed 'shut up.'

As they arrived at the private parking, Adela and Sam got into the elevator. The elevator led them to the private box, furnished with opulence.

"Wow," Sam said under her breath.

Adela picked up a drink and chugged it down.

"Hmm, this is good," she said, "Want one?"

Sam took one and drank it.

"So...awful!" she said.

Adela laughed and Sam giggled.

The game started. They watched the entire match in silence except when Adela punched and nudged Sam atleast four times each and an occasional shouting and yelling at each other.

At the end of the match, they both sat there in frustration.

"Seriously? A tie?" Adela mumbled.

Sam looked at the score. 1-1. She sighed. All the screens had them both displayed. They were used to it by now. This happened all match. 'The multi-billionaire with...who's that?' was the title. They both waved at the camera and left the box.

"If only-" Adela started.

"Not again, Ad," Sam groaned.

"Fine."

Ethan stood beside the car as they hoped it.

"You snitch!" Adela shrieked.

Ethan cleared his throat and opened the door. As they got in Ethan smiled.

"Miss, you have a lot of papers to deal with at home," he said in a bored voice.

Adela glared at him. "Jerk."

Ethan you betrayer! Adela finally has a new best friend!
