THREE :

Tangled Up In Blue

Ava had woken up earlier, one because she couldn't sleep also because she wanted early morning french toast, so after she ate.

She decided to go through and read one of Elijah thick leather-bound journals.

Elijah : (voice over) "August 1359. I have noticed a difference in my siblings. Our bond strains beneath the pressure of our life as vampires. Each day removes them further from the humanity we once possessed. My sweet sister, Rebekah, has grown quite indifferent to brutality." "However, the true problem remains my brother, Niklaus." He continues to hide his loneliness with cruelty. Still, I cling to the hope that I, as their eldest brother, can lead them down the correct path, a path charged with the power of a family united. For if I fail, our family's legacy will end in darkness."

Ava stopped closing the journal as she sighed. She then heard "Someone's being nosy." as she gave a tiny yelp before seeing Klaus smirking at her.

"Oh my god, have you heard of knocking ?" as Klaus said "Seem to forget, now I hate to interrupting you're reading, but I need you."

Ava had to be sure he heard that right. Klaus needed her. She huffed before going downstairs.

Downstairs to the foyer as she saw Rebekah as Rebekah said to Klaus "I cannot believe you disposed of those vampires without me. You know how I love to set things on fire!" as she had a pout on her face.

"Was I supposed to leave them in the front yard to rot? Besides, they were my responsibility. They attacked the helpless pregnant girl who's carrying my child!" as Rebekah rolled her eyes.

"Oh, I am so moved by your new-found sense of fatherly duties towards the werewolf carrying your hybrid bun in her oven."

"What about Ava, what are you going to do with her ?" as Klaus said "The choice is up to Ava."

Ava rolled her eyes. That's when Hayley joined the three in the foyer. "The werewolf would like to know what the plan is."

"Well, that depends what plan you mean, love my plan for global domination, or Rebekah's plan to find love in a cruel, cruel world?"

Rebekah used her speed to take a pencil from the desk beside her and throw it in Klaus' direction. Klaus catched it easily before it can embed itself in his face.

"The plan to rescue Elijah. You know, the good brother? The one who is now in the possession of your mortal enemy after you stabbed him in the back?"

Klaus said with a smirk "In the front, if we're being specific."

"You two said that you would get him back. So is there a plan, or what?" Ava asked as Klaus said

"Okay. Well, firstly, Marcel is not my mortal enemy, he's my friend. Albeit one who is unaware that I'm trying to sabotage his hold over the supernatural community of the French Quarter, but a friend nonetheless. And secondly, I daggered Elijah in order to gain Marcel's trust. If I had known he would place my brother in the hands of a particularly nasty teenage witch, I certainly would have weighed my options a bit differently."

He then gestured to Rebekah before saying "And thirdly, Sister, please." which is when Rebekah piped up and said "And thirdly, the plan, as you have demanded, is for Niklaus to simply ask Marcel for Elijah back."

Hayley said incredulously "That's... that's not the whole plan, is it?" as Ava said "And here I thought we were going to go all Incredibles on him."

"Klaus may be a miserable excuse for a sibling, but there is none more diabolical."

"And that's only the Plan A, love! There's always a Plan B."

"And what's Plan B?" Hayley asked which is when Klaus smiled and said "War."

After talking more with Klaus and Rebekah. Klaus thought it was a good idea to bring Ava along. Ava of course wanted nothing to do with this, she wasn't safe in New Orleans but Klaus made sure she would be.

Ava was just human, but since the little shock wave thing she did yesterday, she been diving more deeply down into what she was. She found out she could be a witch, and she knew Ebony was one.

But she didn't want to put Ebony in harms way, so she keep her new discovery about herself hidden.

Klaus also told her it was a party, which made Ava grinned, she had plenty of dresses played for parties. Each one matching her silky black hair.

She got very excited. Klaus also thought it was time for New Orleans to meet Ava, he said it would be fair enough for them to meet the princess.

It was later in the day and Ava was ease dropping on Sophie, Rebekah, and Klaus from the hallway as they talk behind a closed door in the study.

"Are you out of your mind? No way." as Rebekah said " It's very simple, We need you to perform a teeny, tiny locator spell to help us find our brother."

"Witches who practice magic in this town get caught, and then they get killed."

"Yes, about that. It seems you left out a crucial detail when we made our deal, Marcel's secret weapon, the way he knows when a witch is using magic."

"Girl about yea high, cute as a button, anger issues?" which is when Sophie looked shock when they found out who she was talking about.

"Davina? Where have you seen her?"

"I don't know. The little brat erased my memory right after she threw me out a window with her bloody mind."

"Let me cut to the chase. Davina has Elijah. You witches, I assume, want to get Davina away from Marcel. We don't know where she is. Ergo, we need magic." Klaus said.

"Davina would sense it." Sophie told them which is when Rebekah said "Unless, of course, another witch, say, a traitor to the cause, Katie for example was to perform much more powerful magic at the same time. That would create a smokescreen, concealing your very small spell from Davina."

"Katie doesn't deserve to die." as Klaus angrily slams his hand on the table and stand up to face her. Ava didn't understand why he always went to threat's first.

"Sophie Deveraux! You're in no position to be so principled. You can't win a war without a few strategic losses, no matter how regrettable they may be. How many times have the vampires been one step ahead, known something they shouldn't? Your sister, executed in the public square for practicing magic who knew she'd be caught? Did she even attempt to flee?"

Sophie stunned said "She was caught hiding in a cargo hold of a freighter before it set sail down the Mississippi."

"And who, pray tell of Marcel's valued inner circle manages his business at the docks?"

Sophie sighed and said "Katie's boyfriend, Thierry."

It was around nighttime. Ava was sitting at her vanity. She thought she did a amazing job making the pink dress she would be wearing tonight.

Her hair was in a low ponytail as she put blush on her cheeks. She saw Hayley walk in.

Ava noticed and smiled at her. "Ok, how do I look ?" as she crusty as Hayley said "You look amazing A."

Ava said "Thank you, I do kinda feel like a princes. If I could chose I would stay with you Hayley, are you positive you're going to be ok by yourself ?"

"I can take care of myself Ava, don't worry." as Ava added "Right, right strong werewolf." as Hayley grinned as Ava grinned before Hayley added "You forget eyeliner."

"Oh that's because putting on eyeliner is my worst enemy." as Hayley helped her apply it to her eyes.

"Thanks." Ava said as Hayley added "Your welcome." as Ava said with a laugh, "I guess being captured together help people grow closer."

"Strange meeting but you're right." as Ava smiled before she realized it was time for her to go.

"I have to go, but I'll see you later tonight, maybe we'll make our favorite popcorn and watch some movies."

"I'd like that." Hayley told her which is when Ava left the door as she made her way downstairs ready to go off to the party.

Ava, Rebekah and Klaus entered the party, all three of them arm and arm.

Klaus was wearing a black suit with a black dress shirt and tie, while Rebekah was wearing a black peplum cocktail dress and a hairpiece with black feathers and beads.

Acrobats perform, dancers handle exotic animals, and confetti falls glittering upon the party guests. "Oooh." Ava said.

Klaus smiled and said "Well, this certainly is a fitting backdrop for tonight's events, I must say."

Rebekah and Klaus then spotted a blonde haired girl with light blue eyes.

Ava had to say her dress was amazing. She was wearing a white angel wings and a vintage white beaded dress.

Rebekah looked happy to see her, Ava even had a grin on her face though Klaus smiled soon faded.

"What's she doing here?"

"Who's that ?" Ava asked as she saw tiny shrimp cocktails before taking one. "That's Cami tiniest wolf."

"Oh." Ava said as Rebekah said to Klaus "What better way to distract Marcel than to put his very human new girl in a room chock full of vampires?"

Klaus seemed unhappy as Ava said "Um, I'm human to you know." as Rebekah added "You're not human Ava not fully anyway."

Rebekah's parted ways as she crosses the courtyard to greet Cami. Klaus sighed and follows behind her as Ava followed behind him.

"Hello, darling. You look precious." which is when Ava looked to see who she thought was Marcel. He frowned up above upon seeing Cami.

He was a attractive man to Ava.

"This party is ridiculous, but I think I went a bit splashy with this dress."

Cami made eye contact with Ava and Klaus as nods at Klaus, not fully knowing who Ava is.

Him and Ava joined them. "Is he the infamous on-again/off-again?"

Klaus smiled before saying "He's the brother, actually, and my sister is right. You do look stunning."

"You clean up pretty well yourself."

" Well, don't be fooled, love. I'm the devil in disguise." as Ava rolled her eyes at Klaus's small talk before Cami turned to Ava. "Who are you ?" as Klaus said "This Cami, is my daughter Ava."

"Oh I can't tell, you must get you're looks from your mother." as Ava added "Yeah I do, thank god am I right." as Ava drunk her drink as Klaus gave her a look as she shurrged her shoulder with a smirk.

"It's nice to meet you Cami." Ava said.

Rebekah said "You two chit-chat. I need booze." as Ava said "I do to, It was nice to meet you though Cami." as Ava went off with Rebekah.

Ava was by the bar with Rebekah as Rebekah spoke to the bartender "Scotch please." as he gave the two their drink as Ava drunk her shot as Rebekah said "You can drink." as Ava said "I'm basic." with a smile as Rebekah said "I like that about my niece."

Rebekah than spotted Marcel she sighed at the sight of him as Ava asked "You two have history ?" as Rebekah said "Lot's of it."

Marcel walked up to her "You trying to be cute, inviting her here?" as Ava knew she was talking about Cami.

"I think she's darling. I can tell you fancy her pure heart. Perhaps I'll feed it to you?" Rebekah said as Ava said "Auntie Beccy." as Rebekah shurrged her shoulders.

"Hmm. Jealousy looks good on you, Bekah." Marcel said as he finally turned to Ava as Marcel asked "And who shall you be ?" as Ava said "I'm Ava Lopez. I'm a friend of Klaus's."

"You mean his biological daughter." as Ava eyes went wide as Marcel said "Words all around the quarter, Klaus's daughter, I guess this makes us siblings." as he shook Ava's hand as Ava said "Yeah it does." as she said "Pretty please don't kill me in my sleep." with a grin.

"I'm not a monster Ava." as Ava said "Thank god."

The other side of the courtyard Ava and Cami talked as Cami watched Rebekah, Ava and Marcel at the bar.

"The guy of hers Rebekah was talking about... I'm sensing that would be Marcel." Cami said as Klaus said "I wouldn't worry about it. Ancient history."

"I'm beginning to think your sister is a bit of a b*ch." as Klaus said with a heartily laugh" It's as though she invented the term!"

Cami gazed at Klaus he seems drawn in for a moment but catches himself as he spots Marcel getting ready to approach them.

"Listen. Pardon me for a moment." as Klaus leaved while Marcel greeted Cami.

" Cami." Marcel said as Cami said "Hey ! Killer Party."

"Oh, it's more of a work thing. I would've invited you" as Cami cut him off and said "Oh, no. We've been on one date. No explanation necessary. You do your thing, I'll entertain myself."

Marcel smiled and said "What, leave you alone, looking the way you do? Hell with that."

Ava, Rebekah and Klaus watched as Marcel and Cami danced. Ava was eating a slice of strawberry chocolate cake, she deserved sweets after the week she had.

"You really are a hideously evil little thing, aren't you?" Klaus said as Rebekah said "Nonsense. They're perfect for each other! You wanted Marcel distracted? Voilà."

Ava said "You did want a distract, they look nice together. Mmm, I have got to ask the cook for this  recipe." as she put the last slice into her mouth as Klaus said "I'll have the best bakers in town make it for you everyday."

Ava swallowed as she looked at Klaus, he looked at her back with a smile as she bite her lip.

Diego entered the courtyard and sees Marcel dancing with Cami, their faces nearly touching each other. Diego looked anxious as he interrupts them and whispered in Marcel's ear.

"Excuse me." Marcel said as Cami as Marcel walked over to Thierry and grabs him by the throat, pushing him away from the main party. Cami watches in concern from the dance floor.

"What the h*ll did you do?" Marcel said as Digeo saw Cami seeing the two of them and interrupted him.

"Whoa, not here. No, not here." Diego said as Klaus and Ava watched the drama unfold as Marcel gave both of them a look as Klaus smirked as Cami looked nervous because of it.

Klaus watched as Marcel's men lead Thierry out of the party and out onto the street, where a small crowd of more vampires watch Katie approach as she chants loudly. Klaus watches the events unfold from a window above as Ava joined him.

"What's going on ?" Ava asked as Klaus said "Sweet chaos my tiniest wolf." as Katie chanted "Donn moi se la vroh kondu feh aila ra donn toi moi. Donn moi. Salacku tusdeh do. Vala."

Thierry said "No !" as Klaus said "Like clockwork." as Katie waves her arm and a lamp's light explodes and all the vampires grab at their heads, falling down in pain.

Marcel rised again, but Katie uses magic to break his bones, and he falls again shouting in pain.

Ava thought he was for sure done for but magically Marcel was able to rise from the pain and both him as Katie looked surprised.

"You're here to save your man. Well, come on, little girl!"

He growls as he runs to attack Katie, but she stops him with magic, and he groans as he falls to his knees. In her room Davina falls to her knees at the same time. In the street, Katie lifts a wooden stake above Marcel's head.

"Die, you son of a b*tch." as Thierry said "No." as before Kaite could Ava saw Klaus gone and he was on the street and he had snapped Katie's neck. Ava gasped hand over mouth.

Thierry crawled to Katie's body as he said "No. Katie. No, no, no, no." as he cradled her body as he sobbed as Marcel was able to see Klaus's nod of appreciation.

The party was over and the courtyard is deserted. Klaus and Marcel stand alone on a balcony and clink their drinks against each other. Marcel downs his in one gulp.

" How much did Cami see?" as Klaus said "She just saw an argument, mate. It's nothing you can't fix. You really like her, don't you?"

"I like that she's not a part of any of this. Sometimes it's good to see the world the way the humans do."

"I am sorry about Thierry, you know? I can tell he was a good friend."

"I made him what he was. Obviously, my trust was misplaced." Marcel said as Klaus said "Doesn't make it easier."

Marcel said " You saved me tonight. I guess I owe you one. You asked for your brother back. Seems like the least I can do."

Rebekah sat at the piano, lazily playing a scattering of notes. Klaus enters and she sits up.

"Well, tonight was an epic failure."

"On the contrary, sister. Tonight was a masterpiece."

" Are you mad? Katie died before Sophie could complete the spell."

"Oh, I'm well aware. I killed Katie." Klaus said as Rebekah said appalled "You what?"

"There's no way our little suicide witch wasn't gonna try and take out Marcel with her. I saved his life, and in doing so, I now have him exactly where I want him."

"Sophie trusted you. I trusted you! Against all my better instincts." Rebekah said

Klaus said offended "Wake up, Rebekah, the witches are on no one's side but their own. This girl, Davina? That's all they want, and when they have her, what do you think happens then, a truce? Of course not. They will use Davina's power against all of us."

"Even if you're right, the plan was to find Elijah, and you've failed us."

"You always did lack faith. By protecting Marcel, I've cemented his trust, so much so that he's agreed to return Elijah to us. And when the time is right, when he has told me everything I need to know about Davina, I will have her for myself."

"I have all the faith in the world that you'll get what you want, Nik. You always do, no matter what is costs the rest of us. You disgust me." Rebekah told him as she took a sip of her bourbon place the cup on the piano and left.

Hayley is sitting at a desk in one of the studies, where she's typing on a laptop surrounded by old texts. Klaus pauses at the doorway before walking in to talk to her.

"I thought you might like to know, Elijah is returning to us."

"Congratulations. I guess being diabolical has its perks."

"You hardly know him, and yet you miss him. What is it about my brother that always inspires such instant admiration?"

Hayley heisted and said "He was kind to me."

Klaus took that in but stopped when Hayley called out to him "Hey, I learned something today. I think it's a girl." as Hayley smiled as Klaus smiled in return as he left Hayley to do research.

Rebekah is walking in the Quarter, still wearing her gown but her hair slightly disheveled. She sees Marcel and turns the other way but runs into him when he vamp-speeds to block her.

"You're following me."

He walks toward her, backing her up against a store front as he leans toward her.

"Maybe you're just in my way."

Marcel walked away without another word as Rebekah sighed closed her eyes, as she was clearly overwhelmed.

Ava was laying in her bed. It the middle of the night. She huffed as she lifted her as she took her sleep mask off before turning on the lights of her room to see around 50 boxes of the chocolate cake she wanted earlier.

She was shocked before she thought back to what she told Klaus.

She gave a tiny chuckle before seeing the note on her bed as she opened it and saw it read "Cake for Breakfast ? My Treat."- Dad ♡"

She looked around at the supply of cake in her room before she gave a playful eye roll with a grin.
