SEVEN :

BloodLetting

In the Abattoir Dozens of vampires have congregated in the courtyard of the compound, where they all talk among themselves and drank. After a moment, Marcel appeared on the balcony

"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Fight Night! And, the first rule of Fight Night is,the vampire left standing at the end of the night is one step closer to the inner circle, and one of these." as he held up his finger showing his daylight ring. "a daylight ring. If you can impress me with a little ultra-violence, you too can enjoy the warmth of the sun on your face. All you got to do is kick a little ass. Here we go!"

"All the vampires form a circle as they wait for the announcement of the first fighters." as Marcel said "Our first two contenders: Felicia and Otto!"

Felicia and Otto fought while the rest of the vampires cheer them on. At one point, it appeared that Otto has the upper-hand, but ultimately Felicia won the fight by wrapping her legs around his neck and twisting her hips to snap his neck.

"Damn, girl! Not bad!" with that everyone stopped when Klaus and Elijah entered the courtyard and Klaus walked behind Felicia and snapped her neck, the whole room grew quiet.

"Good evening! I'd like a word."

"What do you think you're doing?"

"It appears that we've interrupted a collection of filthy amateurs! We've come here for the girl and my niece. Give it to us, or we kill everyone here, starting with you."

"You two got a lot of nerve, coming into my home and making demands."

Klaus gave a fake smile and said "Your home, is it?"

Elijah then said angrily "The girl! I will not ask again."

"I assume you're talking about Hayley? Ava ? Yea high, dark hair, bitchy attitudes? Who is Hayley anyway ?"

"She's an old friend. You know how sentimental I am about old friends."

"Well, I ain't got them. And before you start whining,

"I did pay her and Ava a little visit earlier tonight. I was feeling nostalgic, so I took a trip out to the plantation where I used to be a slave."

"And, imagine my surprise when I realized that the Original family of vampires had taken up residence. Your girls, Hayley and Ava answered the door, we exchanged hellos, that was it. You don't believe me? Look around. Hell, I'll even help you find them. But the question that I'd ask is, if Hayley and Ava isn't here, then where are there?"

Ava groaned as she looked to see her next to Hayley. "Hayley." Ava told her as Hayley awoke a couple of seconds later.

"Ava." Hayley said as Ava asked "Are you ok ?" as Hayley nodded. "Where are we ?" as Hayley said "I don't know." as Hayley saw they where in the back of a trunk of an SUV, she also noticed her wrists were bound.

Ava then looked to see they were going down the road of a country side of Louisiana.  Hayley then said "Hold on." as she tried to kick out the back window to escape, Ava tried to but as soon as she started kicking her ankle starting hurting, guess werewolf strength wasn't in her favor.

It was working but the driver stopped the car and got out to check the trunk. When he opened it, he tried to grab her and Ava but Hayley fought back by kicking at him. Then it was revealed to be some guy.

"Seriously?" he asked us.

"Tyler ?" Hayley asked as Ava gave them both a look. "You two know each other ? Great please let us go."

"You don't wanna fight me, Hayley. You know you can't beat a hybrid." as he used a zip-tipe on bind their ankles together so they couldn't run.

Hayley then said "Ahh! Let me go, you backstabbing half-breed piece of shi"

"Shut up!" he told us as he got us out of the trunk and throw us over his shoulders, as he walked down the road his hybird face out as he angrily dragged us into the Bayou.

The hybrid then brought Ava and Hayley to some encampments in the Bayou, and dropped them on the front stoop of a little shack.

"What is this place?" as Hayley asked as Tyler said "The armpit of Louisiana." as Ava said "Lovely." as he suddenly pulled out a knife.

"What are you gonna do with that?" Hayley asked as Ava looked him in the eyes saying "Depends on you."

Ava said to him, "Depends on whether or not, I will rip you in half for making me chip my nail polish !" as he cut the zip ties on their ankles.

Hayley then told him, "Hey, you attacked us, remember? You ambushed us, in our own backyard."

"It's not your backyard, it's Klaus'! You're shacked up in that mansion with that psycho. A long way from the girl I've met in the Appalachians, helping other werewolves."

"Hayley, who is this guy ?" I asked as Tyler said "I know who you are, you're his daughter Ava Lopez Mikal-" as Ava stopped him and said "I'm not a Mikealson."

"Decides, sounds like you and me share a equally hatred for Klaus."

"Tyler, I'm sorry, but a lot has happened since the last time I saw you." Hayley told him.

"You mean that you're pregnant? A hybrid baby, yeah, I know all about it. I've been roaming around the Bayou, asking questions. Let me tell you what I learned!" as he pulled down Hayley's sweater sleeve to show her mark.

"This crescent birthmark means you come from a big-shot family. Some kind of royalty for the werewolves of this region. And right here" as he gestured around him adding "this is all that's left of them."

They look around, and see more shacks and tents made of blankets. Hayley spotted a blonde girl standing nearby, watching them.

"Hey !" as the woman got startled and starting running away, " Help us !" as Ava shouted "Please !"

"They can't help you! They're in the woods, hiding, because they were persecuted for decades by vampires." as another werewolf came.

"Is that them ?" as Tyler sighed and said "Yeah, Dwayne. Get them inside." as me and Hayley scared yelled "Tyler? Tyler!"

Klaus and Elijah continue their search for Hayley and Ava near the werewolf encampments.

"We should head south towards the water." as Klaus said " You seem quite determined to find the little wolf." as Elijah added "If I'm moving too fast for you, Niklaus, you're welcome to wait in the car. Do be certain to leave the windows down."

"Ah, so I've touched a nerve? You've begun to admire this girl. Perhaps that's why you've been barking orders since your return, hoping to impress Hayley and Ava by assuming the role of family patriarch."

Elijah then told him, "If you're going to insist on treating her like a walking incubator, then that's your mistake." as Klaus sniffled at the air as Elijah said "Have you found their scent?"

Klaus comes upon Tyler's SUV and starts searching through its contents. Klaus groaned and said  No, but I found someone else's. This vehicle reeks of someone I thought I was rid of, Tyler Lockwood."

"And why would your little hybrid-sidekick from Mystic Falls have any interest in Hayley and Ava ?"

"He wants revenge because I went after his girl." as Elijah said "Why do I suspect this is the least of your offenses?" as Klaus added " Back when I had the means to sire hybrids, he was my first, Although, I didn't give him much choice in the matter."

Klaus pulled a blanket out of the abandoned car and sniffed at it. "He was loyal in the beginning, but he grew insubordinate, turned my other hybrids against me. I couldn't have that, so I massacred the lot of them. Tyler ran like a coward before I could finish him off."

"Anything else that you would like to share?" Elijah said with a sigh of frustration.

"Well, there was this business with his mum," as Elijah said "You killed his mother. Wonderful."

"He needed to be taught a lesson!"

"And what lesson will you be taught, Niklaus, if he retaliates by harming Hayley and Ava ?"

"So you do care about her. Well, go on, then. Have at it, brother. Save her. Claim what spoils you can. I've sampled what she has to offer and let me tell you, she is exquisite-" as Elijah stopped him and said "Niklaus, so help me"

"Enough. I'll kill Tyler Lockwood myself." as Klaus vamp speed off.

Ava and Hayley were together in the shack, zip tiped to a fire station, which is when Tyler joined them.

"Tyler, there's been a wolf watching me lately. Protecting me, like it instinctively knows that I'm part of it's pack." as she paused at a beat before adding, "You're a hybrid, you can turn into a wolf whenever you want... Was it you?"

"No, but you're right, only hybrids can control when they change. And I'm the only one left, besides Klaus. Which is why we're here." as Ava asked "What did Klaus do to you Tyler ?"

"Oh, so you haven't heard the stories of your dear old man ?" as Ava shook her head, "Only small things." as she took in a shake breath. "He killed my mum and tried to take my girl."

Ava was shocked as she said "Oh my god. Tyler I am so sorry, I-I don't know why he would do that to you, but that has nothing to do with me or Hayley."

"But I swear if you hurt me, Hayley or my little sibling. I- I will do something gruesome."

Hayley then added "Whatever you think you're doing, you know that whole Original family has made some sort of pact, or something, to keep me, Ava and the baby safe. So, if you hurt us, they'll kill you."

"What makes you think I'm afraid to die?" as the werewolf Dwayne walked into the room.

Tyler asked Dwayne "You ready for this?" as Dwayne said with a nod, "Let's do it."

Tyler digged in a bag and draw out a large syringe, and Hayley's eyes widen in fear. "What are you doing?" Ava asked eyes wide to.

Dwayne walks over and held Hayley and Ava down. Tyler crouches down in front of them.

"Tyler, please. NO! Tyler!" as Tyler said "Klaus destroyed everything good in my life! So, I'm gonna take away the thing he wants most!"

"NO, PLEASE! TYLER, PLEASE!" as Ava said "NO !"

Tyler jams the syringe into Hayley's stomach and draws out a measure of her and Ava's blood. Hayley then screamed in pain.

One he removed the syringe from her body, he jams it into Dwayne's neck, injects the blood into him, and snapped his neck as Hayley watches in horror and so did Ava. "Dear god." she said with a shaky breathe.

Tyler lifted Dwayne's dead body up off the floor and drags him over to the other side of the room while Hayley and Ava glared at him.

"Hayley are you ok ?" Ava asked her as Hayley said "Yeah, don't worry were gonna get out of here." as Ava nodded.

"Don't get all judgy! Dwayne knew what he was getting into. He volunteered!" as Ava said with a fake smile "You're saying that, like were not suppose to be shocked."

"For you to kill him?" Hayley said skeptical. "Dwayne is a werewolf who died with your blood in his system. The same blood you share with your hybrid baby and you Ava."

Ava eyes went wide. The more she was learning about herself.

"You're trying to turn him into a hybrid? That's impossible!" as Tyler said " I've been running with wolf packs all over the country. One of them was tight with a witch. She had nightmare visions about your baby and Ava and how Klaus could use its blood to make an army of hybrid slaves."

Ava thought to what he said. She grew shaky breathes, was she just a hybrid blood bank to Klaus.

"Don't listen to him." Hayley said seeing Ava's reaction.

"I am sick of these witches and their premonitions about my baby. It's just a baby!" Hayley yelled.

"Maybe. Maybe not. That's where Dwayne comes in. You see, he was happy to be the test case. If you haven't noticed, these people don't have much to live for. They'd all welcome the chance to become the superior species. Trouble is, all hybrids are sired to Klaus. They follow his every move"

He then grabbed a knife from the bag  and set it on the table. Ava didn't what to know what he was going to do with it.

"How can you be so sure Klaus knows what the baby's and Ava's blood will do?"

Tyler said "What do you think? Klaus Mikaelson, killer of men, women and puppies, all of a sudden wants to be a daddy? Or, he's got an ulterior motive. Hybrids can walk in the sun. Their bite is lethal to vampires. They'll take over New Orleans by the end of the week. And you know what's going to stop Klaus then? Nothing."

Dwayne awakens with a gasp and starts freaking out as Ava said "Welcome back to the day of the living Dwayne, so nice to see you again." Humor helped her cope in stressful situations.

Tyler then glanced at Ava as he said to Dwayne. "You're gonna have to feed on her." as Tyler picked up the knife and walked towards her before cutting her neck.

Ava screamed "What? No! Ahhhhh!" as Hayley shouted "Ava ! Tyler don't touch her !"

"Do it." Tyler told him.

Dwayne walks over to Ava and feeds on her, despite her cries. After a moment, Dwayne stopped feeding and fell to the floor in pain.

Tyler pushes him outside and leaves the shack to tend to him.

Hayley noticed the knife on the ground and strained to reach for it. When she realizes she couldn't reach it, she instead grabbed a broken chair leg from the floor.

"Ow." she said tears in eyes as Hayley said "Don't worry."

Outside, Dwayne continued convulsing.

Tyler shouting said "Look at me! Look at me!" as Dwayne eventually calmed down.

"You're okay." as Dawyne's hybrid face appeared as he smiled and said "I'm better than ok."

Tyler returns to the shack after Dwayne's transformation. He gives Hayley a grim look, and she looked shocked.

"This is a horrible way to die." Ava grumbled. She was sweaty and tried. "It worked, didn't it? He's a hybrid." Hayley asked.

"If Klaus gets a hold of you, if he gets that kid? He wins, he already has you Ava."

"Then help me hide the baby and Ava from him!" as Tyler walked over and picked up the knife from the floor.

"Help us run!" as Tyler said " He'll find you and Ava, he'll take them away, and he'll make more hybrid monsters. Slaves who do everything he says."

Ava terrified said "Tyler, whatever you're thinking of doing, there has to be another way. You're not like this!"

When Tyler shakes his head and continued to walk toward her, she stabs him in the gut with the broken chair leg. Tyler screams in pain and pulled the stake out.

"Nice one Hayley !" Ava told her.

"That was stupid!" as walked towards Hayley and Ava before Dwayne rushed in.

"Get away from her!" as Tyler asked "What do you care ?" as Dwayne said "I said get away !"

Tyler annoyed said "You got what you wanted, now get lost!"

"Dwayne, he's gonna kill me! And he's gonna kill you, too! He said that hybrids are too dangerous to live! You need to stop him!" as Tyler yelled "Shut up !"

"Yeah what Hayley said !"

Dwayne came behind Tyler and tossed him across the room. He lands on the floor, and when he got up.

Dwayne ran to tackle him. Hayley saw that Tyler dropped the knife within reach, and used it to cut herself free. Tyler eventually overpowered Dwayne and rips his heart out. When he turns back toward Hayley and Ava, he sees that she's escaped and becomes furious.

Hayley and Ava ran as fast as they could through the woods.

Tyler's knife was still in her hand, and stops to hide behind a tree pulling Ava behind.

She caught her breath, she heared someone approaching.

She braced herself before nodding to Ava as she ready her knife, and turns to attack, but it's just Elijah. He holds her hand steady to protect himself.

"Oh thank god !" Ava said crumbling to her knees.

"Forgive me! I thought you were in danger. It appears I was mistaken."

Hayley sighed in relief and dives into Elijah's arms. The two hug for a long moment before Hayley eventually pulled away. Ava got up and hugged her uncle aswell before pulling away to.

"You will not believe the crap day we been having." as Elijah said "I'll take you both home."

Elijah walked but Hayley stopped him, "Elijah, there's something you need to know about the baby and Ava."

Hayley was sitting against a tree as she told Elijah what she's learned. Elijah paced anxiously while he listened.

"Klaus must have known, that's the only explanation! He could care less about the baby and Ava. He just wants her to be born so he can use her to make more sired hybrids and he'll do the same to Ava."

Ava faced away from them, her knees were to her chest. Her hair blowing in her face.

She looked at Elijah, and they share a look before Elijah looked away, troubled by Hayley's news

"Although... the way that Dwayne was acting... it was more like he was sired to me." as Ava huffed before snapping "Can we just stop talking about the hybrid thing !"

She hated how Hayley was talking about it like she wasn't there. Hayley stopped knowing it made Ava upset, you could tell by her facial expression.

"I should take you home." as Elijah sighed as Hayley asked "Are you serious? Home to what?"

Look, regardless of my brother's intentions, mine remain the same. I said that I would protect you both, even, if need be, from Klaus himself."

"I can take care of myself. I've done it for a long time." as Ava got up not waiting for the two as they walked away, after a moment Hayley and Elijah followed them.

Ava walked. She didn't hear what anyone had to say. She was to wrap up in her own thoughts to focus.

She then noticed Klaus who was waiting at Dwayne's shack when Elijah and Hayley return. Once they approach the porch, he shoves Dwayne's dead body in front of them.

"There you are! I see you've found our wandering stray. Perhaps you could shed some light on the situation. This," as he kicked the body as he added "Appears to be a hybrid." as Hayley said "His name was Dwayne."

"Well, whoever it was, I didn't sire him. Any idea how that's possible?" as Hayley stomped over adding "As if you didn't know!"

Elijah held Hayley back and walked in front of her to protect her from Klaus.

"Ahhh, well, aren't you two fast friends? Oh, come on, then. What kind of horrible accusation have you conspired to levy against me? " he said unassumed.

"Tyler Lockwood brought Hayley here to test a theory." as Klaus nodded his head to continue.

"That the blood of her child and Ava could be used to sire hybrids. He claims that you knew that. Furthermore, that you intended to use this knowledge to build an army."

Klaus hurt and angry said "And, of course, you assume it's true. I mean, why else would I show interest in my own flesh and blood? A heartbroken little crybaby points his finger at me, and my own brother falls in line, eager to believe it! How quickly you believe the worst, especially when it comes from her."

"Stop it." Ava muttered getting more upset.

"Oh, spare me your indignation. When have you ever demonstrated any kind of concern towards Hayley, Ava or her child, beyond your own selfish pursuits? And what was it you once said to me?"

"Every king needs an heir!" he said impersonating Klaus.

Ava held her head, like before her head was screaming at her. She had the worse headache on human earth, and them all yelling at each other all the question, she had been asking herself for the last couple of days.

Did Klaus truly love her ? Was he using her for power ? Was it truly her fault when he didn't come back ?

"Stop it !" she yelled having enough of their bickering, her eyes were glowing sliver, before she sniffled as she took in a shaky breathe wiping her tears with her finger.

Klaus, Elijah and Hayley turned to the uspet twenty one year old.

It remind her also of all the problems she had with her mother. She hated fighting.

"Stop fighting ! I had to deal with all of this back with my mom and I don't want to deal with it now. I'm sick of people acting like I'm just some broken little girl who so fragile."

Ava rose her eyes at Klaus. "And you. You can go on and on about family and always and forever but at the end of the day you left."

Klaus sighed telling her, "I had a job to do-" as Ava shouted "Your job was to stay !"

"You have no idea how much it hurt when I was on the at the playground and I was sitting there in the sandbox watching all the other kids playing with their fathers, and having a good time. I was so alone."

Ava walked up to Klaus as she asked "What did I do ?" as she added "What did I do to make you not stay ?"

Klaus looked at her as Ava eyes fell seeing he couldn't' answer. "Wow " she said.

She shook her eyes as she added "Hope you do better with my brother or sister. Word of advice, don't fail them like you did me." as Klaus looked at her in her brown eyes before she walked off.

"Ava !" Hayley called out to her as Ava said "No." as she continued to walk away.

Elijah and Klaus looked stare at each other as Klaus approached him. Elijah seems to be reconsidering his position.

"That's all I am to you, isn't it? And Rebekah. And, judging by the way Hayley hangs on your every word, it's clear she feels the same way !" as he looked away hurt adding "No doubt my child will as well, seeing Ava feels the same."

"Brother, if-"

"You've said all that needs to be said, brother." as He stepped back and and held his arms out in defeat.

"I'll play the role I've been given."

He turned as though he's going to walk away, but instead, he turns back quickly and vamp-runs over to Elijah before biting him savagely on the neck.

Hayley screamed in horror and ran over to him.

Klaus wiped his mouth with his hand.

"You two enjoy each other's company. You'll have much to bond over, once the hallucinations and dementia set in. Consider that bite to be my parting gift to you both."

Klaus walked away, leaving Elijah and Hayley to fend for themselves in the Bayou.

Klaus was staring out the window and drinking scotch when Rebekah entered the living room.

"Where is Ava, I brought her this ruby necklace, I think she'll like it." as she put the box on the piano.

"I left them in the Bayou"

Rebekah frowned and said "Why ?"

"Elijah and I had a bit of a row." as he laughed bitterly.

"Hayley's conspired to turn him against me. You know our brother was never one to resist a pretty face! So, one thing led to another, and I bit him, left them both stranded in the swamp."

"Daggering, biting, deserting. Does your wickedness ever end?"

"My "wickedness" is self-preservation! And I wouldn't have to go to such lengths were I not presented on all sides with ignorance and treachery! Now that Elijah's abandoned me, I'll be needing you in my plot against Marcel."

Rebekah glared at her brother resentfully. "Don't expect to be leaving town anytime soon." as he poured himself another drink.

"Why should I help you, after what you did to Elijah? To Ava ?"

Klaus said hurt " You're my family. Besides, who better to spy on Marcel than the girl he so clearly loves? " as he sat on the coffee table in front of Rebekah, who sat on the couch.

"You can tell me all his secrets. Like, how did he find us here? Huh, any idea about that, little sister?"

"How should I know why Marcel does what he does?"

"You think I don't know about your engineered run-ins all over the Quarter? I know you've had private chats with him! Just tell me what secrets he's confided to you. Is he plotting against me?"

Rebekah glared at him and got in his face as she said "My poor brother, so paranoid. Marcel knows nothing! He's not plotting against you, he simply thinks you're in a quarrel in need of making up."

"Perhaps we will. After all."as he pointed and leans in aggressively toward Rebekah.

"You know I'm capable of forgiving those who disappoint me. As soon as they've seen the error of their ways, and suffered for them. You'd do well to remember that."

Klaus got up and then walked away. Rebekah then muttered under her breathe, "You never let me forget."

Tyler and Marcel were sitting at a table in the bar room while a couple of vampire guards stand around nearby.

"You wanna make a deal with me, you gotta offer me something. I already know about Hayley, the werewolf girl. And my sister Ava, What else you got?"

"What if I told you that werewolf girl is carrying Klaus' child?"

Marcel leaned in, clearly interested.

In her bedroom Ava was sleeping or well she was she had cried herself to sleep but currently she was floating in her sleep as sliver magic danced around her as energy sparked lighting up her bedroom.

"And, if that baby is born and Ava lives, it'll mean the end of the vampire species."

Ava's eyes then lit up glowing sliver.

Marcel nodded to Tyler as they both agreed to slightly work tougher.
