I stare at my ceiling, tears present in my eyes.

I had never felt so dense my entire life.

I felt weird and disgusted with myself.

How could I not have known that Jace was my brother? How could I have been so clueless?

I had talked to my mother about Jace, and it had been true. Jace was my brother.

I didn't want to believe it at first, but my mother had told me about how she thought Jace died in a fire when he was younger. That I did had a brother.

Turns out Valentine just hid him away and raised him separate from all of us.

I fell in love with my brother.

God, I was humiliated.

I sniffled and sat up, squeezing my eyes shut as more tears fell, holding my breath.

I coughed, standing up, running my hands through my messy hair, pacing back and forth.

Usually, whenever I felt like this I would go to Alec.

But, we weren't on good terms either.

It was like everything was just falling apart and I couldn't do anything about it.

I stepped out into the hall, walking for Alec's room, standing right in front of the door.

I inhale sharply, feeling more tears burning in my eyes, knowing that he was angry with me.

But, I knocked and went into his room anyway.

Alec was seated on his bed, his back against his headboard after changing into more comfortable clothes, in a position that was more stiff as if he had just sat down.

Alec looked at me, his eyes slightly wider than usual as to why I had came into his room, his expression dropping.

His eyes scan my face, his expression softening lightly as he scooted to the side of his bed, holding his arm out for me, his voice quiet, without any question, "Come here."

I sat on his bed and curled up into his side, hugging onto him tightly as I sobbed into his chest.

Even despite our differences, he was there for me.

-

I walked over to the table Magnus was seated at the next morning, giving him a soft smile.

My expression drops when Jace walks over, sitting down at the table across from where I stood.

I clear my throat, muttering, looking down, "Morning."

"Morning." His voice was quiet, not being able to look at me either, "You just wake up?"

I nod once, "Yep."

"Oh-" He awkwardly said, "You sleep well?"

I lied, "Mhm."

Magnus looks between us, "While this conversation is no doubt scintillating, remind me why we couldn't do this at my place? At least there we'd have cocktails."

"Magnus-" I looked at him; surprised, "It's 9:00 in the morning."

"Oh, it's happy hour somewhere, my dear." Magnus smiles lightly, winking at me.

I inhale, shrugging lightly, "You're not wrong."

"We invited you here, Magnus, because Hodge can't leave the Institute." Jace clears his throat, "He's an important part of this mission."

"Well, then, where is our tardy little tutor?" Magnus looks around, "There are certain individuals that I'd like to avoid, so- let's make this quick."

Hodge walks in, "Pardon the delay, Magnus. I was following up on a lead."

Hodge pulls up the profiles on screen so we could all see, "Now, we've narrowed down our list of warlocks to these three."

"Why is Ragnor Fell up there?" Magnus said right away, "He's not more powerful than I am."

"Well, some would disagree." Hodge interjected, "He is older than you."

"Certainly not wiser." Magnus comments.

I looked at him, "If it's Ragnor- you think he's nice enough to just- give us an antidote to wake Jocelyn up?"

"Well- he's one of my oldest friends." Magnus recalled, "Very prickly, likes to keep to himself."

"Okay, look." Hodge spoke, "We just need to figure out which one of these warlocks had enough access to Jocelyn that they could create the potion for her without anyone discovering what they'd done."

"By the early '90s, Ragnor was a professor at the Shadowhunter Academy in Idris." Magnus told us.

I cross my arms, "Isn't that when Jocelyn lived there? Could he have made the potion for her?"

"The little bugger!" Magnus points, "That's why he hasn't responded to my fire message."

"Ever since Valentine began hunting warlocks, Ragnor's been holed up in his secret country house just outside of London." Magnus went in depth, "For all I know, Ragnor suspected my fire message was a ploy by Valentine to lure him out of hiding. We'll have to confront him face-to-face."

Hodge's eyebrows furrow, "You're going on this mission?"

"Of course. I'm the only one Ragnor trusts." Magnus got up, nodding in confirmation, "Besides, I've played my last hand here- even I know when to fold."

When he turned, the two people he was trying avoid were right in front of him, as Alec and Lydia stood there.

My jaw clenched, as I looked away and down.

Lydia softly smiled at him, "Magnus, I didn't know you were here."

"That was the point." Magnus mutters quietly.

"We're just on our way to greet a few representatives of the Clave who arrived early for tomorrow's wedding." Her smile didn't fade, "How long are you staying?"

"What's going on here?" Alec interjects, "Nobody told me about a meeting."

Jace spoke up due to Magnus and I's silence, getting up, "Magnus figured out that Ragnor Fell is the warlock who can wake Jocelyn. We're just bringing him back to the Institute."

Alec places his hands on his sides, "How can I help?"

"We're just recovering a warlock, Alec." My voice was dangerously low as I wouldn't make eye contact with him, my arms crossed, "We got this covered."

I didn't want him to be a part of this mission.

My view changed on him every single time I saw him with Lydia.

"Besides, you have emissaries from the Clave to meet." Magnus stared at him, "You don't want to tarnish your family's perfectly-crafted image now, do you?"

Lydia inhales sharply, "Again, lovely seeing you, Magnus."

Alec sighs as he and Lydia walk away from us.

Jace keeps his stare on the ground, speaking to me before walking away, "Get ready- we leave in an hour."

-

"Ragnor's house is just across these fields." Magnus pointed after we came out of the portal.

"Let's make this quick." Jace sighs deeply, walking ahead of Magnus and I, "We'll talk to Ragnor, then Portal him back to the Institute before anyone knows we're gone."

I roll my eyes at him, walking along side Magnus, "Hey- how are things with you and Alec?"

Magnus looked at me, his voice as low as mine, "He's still getting married to Lydia, isn't he?"

"Out a sense of duty." I reminded him, exhaling deeply, "Not because of what he really feels."

"His duty is more important to him than himself." Magnus looked down, "He told me himself he wouldn't throw his whole life away for me."

"That's exactly why you have to fight for him!" I urged him, "You're the one that needs to pull him out of the terrible state of mind he's in- you need to bring him back onto the right path."

When Magnus goes silent, I inhale, "I'm inviting you to the wedding."

"You're what?" Magnus' eyes went slightly wide, "It's a Shadowhunter wedding, biscuit-"

"Okay, and?" I shot him a look, "I'm inviting you."

Magnus inhales, "I don't think that's a good idea-"

"Alec's worth fighting for, right?" I nudged him lightly, "Come to the wedding- show him you're not giving up on him without a fight."

I gave him a weak smile, "I really want you to come- so please, come."

Jace huffs, "You know- you guys aren't making this any faster?"

"You know, shutting up once in a while does you some good?" I remarked right back.

Magnus looks between us, making more conversation, "So brother and sister, huh?"

"I don't wanna talk about it." Jace dismissed.

"Great, I don't either." I shot back at him, crossing my arms, "Just so you know- if I knew that-"

"If we knew it wouldn't have happened, right?" Jace suddenly stopped and grabbed my arm to stop me as well, "Is that what you're going to say?"

I scoff in disbelief, looking away.

"What do you want me to say, Zee?" Jace exhales deeply, "That I was attracted to my sister?"

"Point of fact, brother and sisters are often attracted to each other." Magnus mentions out of no where, "I once knew this one couple in ancient Egypt-"

"Magnus." I stop him.

"Maybe this will all make sense once you talk to Margaret." Magnus said, "Since she is Jace's mother as well, perhaps-"

"Don't say that again." Jace warned Magnus immediately, stopping him from going any further, "Maryse is my mother. At best, Margaret is the woman who abandoned me."

"Abandoned?" I repeated, my voice raising at him, "My mother would never just abandon her child."

Jace scoffs at me, rolling his eyes, "Or maybe she just didn't want me."

"You and I were both raised by Valentine until we arrived at the Institute, Margaret has taken care of us both since then!" I stepped closer to him, my tone falling low, "How could you say that?"

"I'm sorry I asked!" Magnus suddenly cuts into the argument, "I came with you to escape my relationship drama, not get a front row seat to yours."

"What was that?" Jace looks around after hearing a sound, causing me to fall confused.

"Look out!" Magnus calls out unexpectedly, catching me off guard.

Jace grabs me immediately, pulling me away from the wall of green fire lighting up around us, surrounding us completely and entirely, not letting us go any further.

"Ragnor put up wards to protect his lair." Magnus looks at the flames.

I shiver away from Jace, "Why is the fire green?"

"It's a wall of fire that only the pure of heart and intention can pass through." Magnus looks at Jace and I, "Are you ready?"

We walked through the fire together, but when I came out of the other side, Jace and Magnus were gone.

"Jace?" I looked around, "Magnus?"

Except, they were no where.

My eyes landed on Ragnor Fell's house.

I bolted, rushing towards it as fast as I could, running up the path and to the front door, noticing that it was open.

I grab out my kindjals, slowly entering the house, "Ragnor?"

I looked around, inching closer, "Hello?"

I came to a stop in front of a painting of Ragnor Fell.

I turned to go into another room when I notice the movements of Ragnor's eyes in the painting.

I put my kindjals away, reaching into the painting, pulling Ragnor out, as he grunted when he hit the ground.

"Well done, Zee Young." He forces himself up, "Only a true artist would notice the subtle changes in my eyes."

"Yes, I know." Ragnor then looked at an empty chair, "I need to work on not moving my eyes, you don't need to remind me."

I inhale sharply, following him into the bigger room, "Ragnor, I need to know- did you make the potion that put Jocelyn to sleep?"

"At her request, yes." Ragnor nods, "And I knew it was only a matter of time before you or your sister came to me looking for the antidote."

He gestured to a seat, "Please, sit."

"My friends, Jace Wayland and Magnus Bane." I sat down, "They were with me, but- I lost them in the fire."

"Let me do this my way!" Ragnor raises his voice at the chair to my right, then looked back at me, "Your friends, are they true?"

"Uh-" I cleared my throat, ignoring that, "Magnus said he's known you for centuries. He sent you a fire message."

"This is not an act- It is not an act!" Ragnor looked at the chair to my left, bursting, "It is essential."

"Okay, what the hell is wrong with you?" I got up suddenly, "My friends are missing and I have no idea what happened to them- so, if you can't help me, I'll find them myself."

Ragnor steps closer to me, "What is it worth to you? Finding your friends and waking up Jocelyn?"

I stare at him for a second, "I'll give you anything."

"That's what I wanted to hear." He smiles, snapping his fingers, Jace and Magnus appearing in the chairs he had been staring at this entire time.

Magnus stood up, sighing, "Honestly, Ragnor, was that nonsense necessary?"

"Of course." Ragnor said, "She offered me anything- you were only up to a timeshare of your flat in Paris- yawn."

"All right, enough." I stopped them before this conversation could go any further, "Can you wake Jocelyn?"

Ragnor was honest, "Not without the Book of the White."

Jace sighs, "What is the Book of the White?"

Magnus shone light on it, "It's an ancient book of warlock magic containing spells more powerful than most warlocks could ever imagine."

"I possessed the book when Jocelyn came to me, and I used its contents to create the potion." Ragnor informed us, "Regrettably, I no longer have the book. I asked Jocelyn to hide it that Valentine might never find it."

"Damn it-" I hugged deeply and ran a hand through my hair, "Is there any way to get it?"

"Possibly- I may have something that can help us." Ragnor leaves the room as he spoke, "Won't be but a moment."

My voice lowered, "Okay- what do we do if he can't find the book?"

Jace looked down, "We'll cross that bridge when we come to it."

Magnus looks around, "It's a bit drab, isn't it?"

The sound of a demon roaring and Ragnor screams filled our ears, our heads snapping towards the sound, as we saw a Shax demon on Ragnor.

"Ragnor!" Magnus ran to his friend.

"Shax demon." Jace said, him and I running after Magnus, Ragnor falling to the ground off the staircase.

Ragnor gasps for air, laying on the ground, "Creature took me by surprise."

"How could a Shax demon get past Ragnor's wards?" I question, looking around, my eyes wide as Magnus kneeled by Ragnor.

"It must have followed us." Jace looks around as well, kneeling as did I, "Jumped through when the fire wall reset."

"Be still, my little dear cabbage." Magnus used his magic and pleaded, "Your wounds are deep- hold on, please."

"No, no, no." Magnus whispers when Ragnor went still, tears filling his eyes, "For centuries, this man knew me better than anyone."

I had no idea what to say.

"We have to leave, now." Jace got up.

I got up as well, "No- we need to find whatever Ragnor meant to help us find the book."

"It's too dangerous." He denied, "If one Shax demon found us, you can bet there are more on the way."

I shook my head, "Jace- we have to try."

"We don't have time to scour through mountains of Ragnor's stuff." Jace shot back at me.

"Get back to the Institute." Magnus opened a portal, "I'll transport everything back to my place, and find what you need- now, leave me to take care of my friend."

Jace and I oblige, walking through the portal.

-

"Jace, you're coming to Alec's bachelor party, right?" Isabelle asked as she came to our side with Clary when Jace and I appeared into the Institute.

"No." Jace said right away, "He doesn't want me there, and I'm swamped."

Isabelle looks between Jace and I, "You three seriously haven't worked things out yet?"

Jace shook his head, "There's nothing to work out."

I exhale deeply, "If he wants to talk, we'll talk."

"He's your parabatai." Clary's eyebrows furrowed.

"We have more important things going on than a bachelor party." Jace lead us into the training room, "Come with me."

Isabelle, Clary and I walk into the training room behind him, Jace filling them in, "We have a mole in the Institute."

I cross my arms, "We were attacked by a Shax demon when we went to see Ragnor Fell."

"The attack couldn't have been coincidence." Jace said, "Valentine must have been tracking us."

Clary looks between us, "You don't think someone from the Institute told Valentine where you were going?"

I nod once, "There's no other explanation."

"No one here would betray us like that." Isabelle denied, "This is our family."

Jace's stare was fixed on Lydia, who was across the Institute, "Not everyone's family yet."

Jace faces us again, anger threaded in his tone, "I swear, if Lydia is the leak, I'm gonna-"

"You're not going to do anything." I point at him right away, "We don't know if she did anything."

"And wrongfully accusing someone of a crime is dangerous." Isabelle adds in, "Trust me, I've been through it."

"Lydia was right there when we were talking about Ragnor Fell." Jace argues, filled with anger, starting to walk past me, "If she's not gonna admit what she did, I'm gonna make her admit it."

"Jace, enough." I stood in front of him, not letting him go any further, "You are too worked up to talk to anyone right now- especially when it's an important envoy from the Clave."

Clary sides me, "She's right- you could say the wrong thing- or burst."

"Let me talk to Lydia." I demanded, staying still, "If you accuse Alec's fiancée of treason, you will ruin whatever relationship you have left with him."

I quietly add in, "And I'm not letting you damage what you have with him like I did."

"Zee's right, Jace." Isabelle sides with me, "If Lydia did this, she might not be so defensive with Zee."

"She might let her guard down." Isabelle adds in, "Slip up."

"Fine." Jace agreed reluctantly, "But- I wanna know everything she says."

-

I clear my throat, knocking on Lydia's office door gently when I caught a glimpse of her dress, "Your dress- it's stunning."

"Thank you." She thanked, dressed in a robe, facing me, "I feel more nervous wearing that dress than I ever have on the battlefield."

"I think that's pretty normal." I simply told her, slipping my hands into my back pockets, "Lydia, I need to talk to you about something."

She looks at me, "What is it?"

"Valentine sent a Shax demon to track us on our mission today." I began, taking a step closer to her, "It killed Ragnor Fell."

She gasps, "By the Angel-"

"Only a few people here at the Institute even knew we were going on the mission-" I look at her slyly, "You overheard us this morning- and then we were attacked."

Lydia scoffs at my accusation, "If I was working for Valentine, don't you think I would have already given him the Mortal Cup?"

I exhale through my nose and look away.

"I don't believe this." She shook her head, "Fellow Shadowhunters accusing me of high treason."

I began, "Lydia- I just needed to confirm."

"Of course you're accusing me." She cut me off, her tone changing suddenly, "Unless you have hard evidence to back your claims, I believe this conversation is over."

"Fine, but- know this." I walked closer to her, staring at her dead in the eye, "This is my family. I protect my family."

"I care about them too." Lydia shot back at me as if I was implying that she didn't, "Why else would I be marrying Alec?"

I blink at her mentioning him unexpectedly, "How well do you actually know him?"

"You're talking about Alec's feelings for Magnus?" Lydia confronts me, "I'm not blind."

My voice fell low, anger pouring within me, "If you're not in love with Alec, why are you going through with this marriage?"

"Alec's love for his family and his desire to restore the Lightwood name has touched me in ways that I haven't felt in a very long time." Lydia inhales deeply, "Alec is a man of honor and I truly care about him."

"And what about Alec's happiness?" I was upset over how careless she was being of Alec's life, "Have you not considered what this could do to him? A life of misery and loneliness?"

"Shadowhunters know that our duty to our family supersedes our personal desires." Lydia reminded me, "Look, I understand that your sister has arrived here and her mundane beliefs may be making you question yours, but-"

"Alec shouldn't give up who he is because the duty of restoring his family name has fallen into his hands." I cut her off, "This isn't what he wants- he's doing this out a sense of duty- not because of what he really feels."

"But- Alec proposed to me." Lydia mentions suddenly, "This is what he wants."

I looked down and step away, "How do I trust you?"

Lydia watched me, "You're Valentine's daughter and I learned to trust you."

-

"Really, Izzy?" Alec's voice filled my ears along with the quiet but not too quiet music in the background of the room, "Seriously?"

I slowly walked over to him, putting my hair behind my ears, "Izzy said you wanted to talk."

Alec crossed his arms, his expression hardening when he saw me, "I don't know what she thought I wanted to say."

That one hurt.

"Okay." I looked down for a moment, nodding towards him, "I guess I'll go- I have things to do."

I turn to walk away, only to stop midway.

"You know what?" I spun to face him once more, slipping off my leather jacket and tossing it to the side, "She's right- we really do need to talk."

"Okay." Alec exhales deeply, allowing it, "Well, it's my bachelor party, so you go first."

"I don't know how things got so messed up between us." I stared at him, "But- I do know my life has been a lot harder not having you to talk to."

Alec sighs, "Mine, too."

"Alec, I never wanted to hurt you- or lie- or betray you. It was never my intention to hurt my best friend." I tried to hold tears back, my voice lowering, "But- I only ever did what I thought was right, not because of some higher principal- or because I wasn't thinking about the consequences to anyone else."

"But, you and I- I know we're going to be okay." Tears began filling my eyes, "Because- last night, we had one of the biggest arguments- but, even after that you held me because you knew I wasn't okay."

I refuse to let the tears in my eyes fall, as I inhale sharply, calming myself down, "I'm just- I'm so sorry for whatever I've done recently that's hurt you."

"I know." Alec exhales deeply, "You know, we just- got caught in all this drama."

"Yeah, no kidding." I exhale, recalling, "I mean you're getting married tomorrow."

"And Jace's your brother." Alec reminded me, as we finally got to talk about what was happening in our lives, "You know, what's up with that?"

"Hell- don't even get me started on that." I covered my face and sat down, "I kissed him- I mean, I wanted him."

Alec hums in response, watching me.

"Stop looking at me like that!" I grabbed a cloth and tossed it at him, groaning in embarrassment, my face red, "I'm already disgusted with myself."

"It wasn't your fault." Alec sat next to me, putting a hand on my knee, "You two didn't know."

"I don't know- I just-" I stare ahead of me, placing my hand over his, "For the first time ever- I really- liked someone- maybe even loved, and turns out- that person is my brother."

"I'm starting to think my father was right." My face twists in hurt, "To love is to destroy and to be loved is to be the one destroyed- that's the bottom line."

I looked at Alec, small tears in my eyes, my voice breaking quietly, "Maybe- I'm just not made to love someone- or to even be loved."

"That's not true, Zee." Alec squeezes my knee gently, "Situation's just- it's confusing."

"You know, it's like, you have this plan for your life right, and you know what you need to do and what your responsibilities are." Alec looked down, "And you think, you know, if you follow the rules, everything's gonna be fine."

"Then somebody comes along, and-" Alec inhales, "Pushes you off that path."

My voice was quiet, "I get it."

"The point is, we're Shadowhunters." Alec suddenly got up, "Emotions get in the way- and if you get knocked off the path, you have to focus and find your way back."

I stare at him, my voice soft, "I mean, you still have to be true to yourself."

"I am." Alec said. "I'm fulfilling my duty."

This makes us both fall into silence.

I was thinking about him, about his happiness.

And I knew he was thinking about Magnus.

I knew marrying Lydia was the wrong thing, but I couldn't just tell him off after we had finally made up.

I looked around, breaking the silence that was killing me, "This is a sucky bachelor party."

Alec looked at me with amusement, "Us making up is sucky?"

"Come on-" I got up and grabbed his hands, spinning myself, swaying to the music.

Alec's eyes slightly widen, "I can't dance-"

"I know, it's okay-" I began smiling, dragging him with me as I spun, giggling as he accidentally stepped on my foot.

I fell into his chest and hugged onto him tightly, a wide smile on my lips, "I missed you."

Alec hugs back, a smile matching on his lips, "Yeah- I missed you too."

-

"When you first proposed to Lydia, I'll admit, I was wary." Maryse confessed to Alec at his wedding before the ceremony as I stood with him, "But- now, you've made me so proud."

I was dressed in a soul chocolate colored mermaid dress, one that was long and backless, had spaghetti straps and was a V neck. My hair was straight, black heels on my feet.

Maryse walks away with Robert, sitting down, leaving me alone with Alec.

"All right, you sure you're ready for this?" I fixed Alec's tux, softly smiling at him, "Jace is about to give you away."

Alec exhales deeply, "As ready as I'll ever be."

"Good." I fixed Alec's tie, "I'm happy for you."

Deep down, I hoped Magnus would show up.

Alec looks into my eyes, nodding once, stopping me, "I'm glad you're here with me."

"I'm always with you." I leaned up and gently kissed his cheek, gently gesturing for him to get into the higher platform, "Go on."

Alec does this, Jace shortly joining him as Clary and Simon made conversation next to me.

As I sat down, my eyes connected with Jace's, as he had been looking at me the entire time.

My eyes were glued to his until my attention was caught by Brother Jeremiah, "Attention, the ceremony is about to commence."

Isabelle walks in, looking gorgeous as ever as she slowly joined her brother's on the higher platform.

Lydia then walks out, holding a bouquet, walking down the aisle and handing Isabelle the bouquet when she reached them.

I looked back at the doors.

No Magnus.

Lydia put the bracelet around Alec's wrist, as he put the necklace around her neck.

"It is time for Alec Lightwood and Lydia Branwell to mark each other with the Wedded Union rune." Brother Jeremiah announces, "A rune on the hand, a rune on the heart, a union is born."

As Lydia grabs the stele, I looked back at the doors once more, fear growing in my chest that Magnus wouldn't make it in time.

Suddenly, the door slams and Magnus walks in, looking dashing and handsome.

A relived smile formed on my lips, the breath I had been holding leaving my lips.

Maryse's mutter was distant but heard, "What's that warlock doing here?"

Maryse then got up and walked over to Magnus, "Magnus, leave this wedding now."

"Maryse, this is between me and your son." Magnus stopped her, taking a step closer, "I'll leave if he asks me to."

Jace whispers to Alec, who had been holding eye contact with Magnus for so long, "Are you gonna be okay, buddy?"

"Alec?" Lydia grabbed his face, "Hey."

Alec inhales, "I- I can't breathe."

"I know." Lydia nods, "It's okay."

"I can't do this." Alec swallowed, "I thought we were doing the right thing, but- this isn't it."

Lydia assures him, "You don't have to explain."

"Lydia, I'm sorry." Alec said to her.

"Hey- you deserve to be happy." Lydia assures him once more that it was okay, "Okay? I'll be fine."

I couldn't help but smile.

Alec turned toward us all, stopping for a moment.

Then, he makes his way towards Magnus.

Maryse was walking to him, "Alec, what are you doing?"

"Enough." Alec cut her off and grabbed Magnus by the collar and kissed him in front of everyone.

Everyone was shocked, except I had a wide smile on my lips.

When they were done kissing, realizing the shock they had struck across the room, they pulled away.

Maryse and Robert left the room, as Lydia began to as well, but, I stop her, "Hey- what you just did for Alec-"

Lydia stops me, "It was the right thing to do."

I inhale, "So- what are you gonna do now?"

"Head back to Idris." Lydia told me, sighing deeply, "Dive into work- there's no place for me here."

"Lydia." I looked at her, "There's always gonna be a place for you here."

Lydia softly smiled, "Give Alec and Magnus my best."

When she left me alone, Jace's voice sounded from behind me, "Is Lydia gonna be okay?"

"Uh, yeah-" I slowly turn, "She'll be all right."

"Look, Zee." Jace looked down, "Listen, I just need to say that you were right- about everything."

I blinked, "What?"

"Yeah, shocking right?" Jace remarked, "Seeing what Alec just did, I realized I can't shut you out- I just don't know what to do with all this."

I exhale, "I don't know either."

"Much as this will shock Alec, my visit tonight wasn't all for him." Magnus walked over to us, "We need to speak privately."

-

"I pulled every item of magical importance from Ragnor's belongings." Magnus told us after he had used his magic to make the items appear. "But- I can't determine which will lead to the Book of the White."

"Wait, this bookmark." I grabbed the familiar fabric, "I've seen it before."

"In the alternate dimension you showed me a book of spells, and this was in it." I went in depth, "It must have been the Book of the White."

Alec nods, "If that's the case, we can use the bookmark to track the owner of the book."

Jace reaches for it, "Okay."

Magnus grabs it, "Warlock tracking is stronger."

Magnus inhales and closed his eyes.

A moment later, he opens them, an expression crossing his face, making me question it, "What?"

"Well, there's good news and bad news." Magnus began, "The good news is I know the owner. The bad? It's Camille."

I scoff, "Camille?"

Magnus nods, "Looks like Raphael has her locked up in the basement of the Hotel DuMort."

"We know Camille." I huff, "She's not gonna help."

"She won't have a choice." Jace's eyes locked with mine for just a moment, "Trust me."
