Chapter 19 - Henry

"Miss Noir," a soft voice says next to me.

My eyes flutter open and Madam Pomfrey is standing by my side.

"How are you feeling," she asks.

I shift my legs under the blanket and jerk to stop when I feel the sharp pains of my sore muscles.

"Sore," I answer shortly.

"Ok dear, I will give you something to help."

She moves to the left side of the bed where the IV pole that she must have set up while I was asleep stands.

"This will likely make you pretty sleepy, dear," she explains.

"But what about classes? I have to go to my classes today!" I start ripping the blankets off me and try to stand.

"Miss Noir, everything is fine. Your teachers are not expecting you in class today anyway," she explains.

I sit back on the bed. I peer across the room as I lay down and see the ruffled sheets of the bed, but no red head.

My eyes snap open at the sound of multiple people talking. Madam Pomprhey stands with three other witches, all also in nurse's uniforms.

I glance at the windows and see that it's pitch black. The bed across from me has been remade.

"I just don't even have an inkling of an idea of what is wrong. Physically, she is completely healthy," Madam Pomphrey whispers.

The stabbing pain in my abs and legs when I move the smallest amount says otherwise.

"I've ran all of the tests, I've done it all, what am I missing?" Madam Pomphrey whispers desperately.

"Just keep monitoring her. That is all you can do for now," one of the other witches advices.

They walk towards the exit of the infirmary, and the other witches leave. Madam Pomfrey starts to walk back over to me, and I slam my eyes shut.

Sometime last night, I must have fallen back asleep because when I opened my eyes, the sun was starting to come up.

"Good morning, dear. You are free to return to your classes today if you are feeling up to it," Madam Pomprhey announces.

"Did you find anything?" I whisper, even though I already know the answer.

Her body seems to visibly shrink, "I'm sorry dear, we did not," she pauses, "I know you are in pain, we will keep looking for answers," she reassures. "I have things to help with the pain when it becomes needed, just let me know."

I nod while standing from the bed, grab the stack of clothes she left off the nightstand, and head towards the restroom. I open the door and flick on the large white lights.

I stare at the mirror that I looked into just a few months ago. My eyes aren't as sunken in, and the circles under them aren't so dark. My cheeks have filled in a little more, though still not where they should be. I peel the hospital gown off. Though my ribs stick out some, they aren't protruding like they were.

I quickly get dressed, grab my books from when I came in, and leave the hospital wing.

I made it through a large part of the day and I'm heading to Defense Against the Dark Arts. Large groups of Ravenclaws students, some my year, some older, stand in groups after getting back from lunch. A few Hufflepuffs that are also in the class stand there. A boy with dark brown hair, tons of freckles, and large, thick glasses gives me a soft smile from where he is standing on the other wall of the hallway. I smile back as I stand by a group of Ravenclaw girls.

Professor Quarel opens the doors, and we pile into the classroom. Everyone starts to take their seats. I begin to walk over to the seat that I always sit in. The Ravenclaw boy that always sits by me looks me in the eyes with a cocky grin and slams his large stack of books on the chair, along with his feet. I stare him in the eyes. I consider going to the Professor for all but a second. I walk over to the chair and jerk it towards me so that his feet fall to the ground. His smile drops, I grab the books out of the chair and drop them in his lap before sitting down. He scrambles out of his chair, the textbooks dropping to the floor loudly, causing the room to go quiet. He winds his arm back, ready to punch. I close my eyes to brace for the impact, but it never comes. I peel my eyes open. The boy with dark brown hair from the hallway holds the boy's arm back, his face turning red from the force.

"Hi," he says, out of breath, with a smile. "I'm Henry."

Hello loves! I want to give a little explanation for the late chapter and why it is so short compared to my normal ones. Please forgive me, it is hard to explain the situation without all the details and some I'm just not going to share right now. This is a bit of a rant, just a warning.

For context I do my classes online. A family member decided to stay over the entire holiday break, and the decision was extremely last minute and caused me to not be able to take one of my course's exams before break, causing me to now try to hurry and finish now after the break so I don't get behind. The house wasn't quiet where I could focus and not get flagged when taking my proctored test, this family member also does not want to be by themselves at any time of the day. The only reason I was able to get the last chapter out was I already had it prewritten, I couldn't write because the only time I'm by myself is when I'm getting ready for bed or sometimes working. Some drama happened in this family member's life, which made them not want to leave now, even after the break, and also bring it out on everyonw. Arguments have now gone down because it is causing me to not be able to get my work for school done. Unfortunately, I don't have control over making them leave, and the people who do are scared to say anything.

Overall, this is a very short version of the story. It has been extremely frustrating, but they are about to go on a road trip and hoping they decide to leave after, and get some writing time.
