"Retrouvaille"
The joy of reuniting with someone after a long separation.
1st September 1996
"If anything, you know what to do," Athena said into Harry's hair, hugging him tightly. The Hogwarts Express let out a long honk, informing everyone that the students were allowed to get on the train within 15 minutes.
The Chosen One hesitantly let go of his chosen sister, who was pulled into a hug by Hermione.
"Please, if you get into trouble, be careful and smart because honestly, I don't need to worry about you three."
Hermione muffled into her shoulder while Athena played the ends of her curly hair. The golden-eyed brunette manages to make eye contact with her Malfoy cousin. She could tell that he desperately wanted to talk to her.
The Malfoys aren't looking as great as ever.
Draco is already pale enough. He's fidgety and that's worse. The gang never looked worse. Blaise still as quiet as ever, Pansy annoyed at everyone also judging them. Theodore just hanging about, ready to leave everyone but smiled at Athena as she walked over to them. Crabbe and Goyle are nowhere to be found.
"Cousin."
"Can I—"
Athena pulled the Malfoy in for a hug without him finishing his sentence. Draco was taken aback because he hadn't talked to the Ashryvers ever since the supposed return of the Dark Lord.
Both of them know that he is back.
One because of his dark magic lingering on hers and the other has to carry out his forced task of killing the most powerful wizard of his time.
"Please do everything you can to be safe," Athena whispered, carefully, making his parents doesn't hear it. Athena slipped a piece of paper into his hand, it was a call for help if the Malfoy needed the Ashryver. Especially if he is in extreme danger. "Make sure to work on your Occulemency and more spells. Find the small pendant by the window. You will know."
"I am so sorry for everything."
"No cousin. I am sorry—I will see you at the end of the school year, okay?"
"That would be nice, Thena."
"Of course, cousin—"
"Ashryver, how are you?" Ms. Zabini asked, holding her son close.
"Been better. You?"
"Still as rich as ever."
Athena laughed, urging the Slytherins to get on the train before they actually missed it. Athena actually became a blood purist for a second, without even realising. Before they said something about her wife she stopped them immediately. It wasn't either a good or bad comment but Athena rather keep her life private.
"I have to go now."
"Not going to try?" Percival Parkinson dared to push but Athena just quirked her eyebrows, smirking.
"Not my jurisdiction but don't come to France."
"Athena."
"Uncle. Aunt Cissy."
Narcissa let out a long exhale with a smile as she approached for a hug, carefully. They reeked of dark magic and the former Black knows how sensitive Athena was to it. The niece pulled her aunt in before Narcissa whispered into her ear, Her husband didn't know it was more of a warning hug rather than the normal ones they shared. Athena listened as she tightened the hug.
"Goodbye, Athena. Be safe."
"Of course. I'll see you again." Athena smiled at her aunt as she retreated back to her brothers who were wondering what their aunt had been whispering to their sister. "Dad is going to have a hard time."
"And we can't help." Atlas sighed, watching the Malfoys before they apparated out of their sight.
"Only if Mum allows us but—"
"She won't." The twins said in response before Atlas and Damon held onto Athena's arm. They waved and smiled to the students they knew before Athena apparated all three of them to France. It was unbelievable that she could actually do it with that distance.
Scotland to France, no one of this age has tried to apparate with that distance and succeded flawlessly.
"Where are we?"
"The border." Aurors apparated in, surrounding them and their wands out. Athena was looking around while her brothers freaking out, not knowing what to do. She brought her badge and said, "I'm Captain Athena Ashryver of the Bearau of Aurors of France. These are Atlas and Damon Ashryver, my Aurors."
Atlas sidestepped closer to Athena while Damon straightened his coat. The Belgian Aurors looked around and at one another, not knowing what to do before Athena tossed her badge at one of them.
"It's not a fake, I assure you. Do whatever you want but hurry up. I got things to do."
Athena checked her watch while Damon handed his badge to another Auror and Atlas cursed under his breath, forgetting he was supposed to carry his badge everywhere but he had his ID so they could check that out.
"No need, that's the Ashryvers," Athena smirked in response, seeing the Blonde that she had a great time torturing.
"Jodie, good to see you."
"You owe me lunch."
"How about now?"
"A little visiting to Belgium and I thought you have things to do?"
"Why not?—got some time. Brothers?"
"I have to meet Olivier—"
"Ava is back for a bit."
Athena let out an exhale while Jodie wrapped her arm around her shoulders. Atlas placed a kiss on his twin's cheek as Damon placed one on her forehead and apparated out. Jodie smirked at Athena while her Aurors, one by one, apparated out.
"I'm married."
"Yeah I know, I missed my chance."
"Too old."
"Hey! I'm three years older."
"You didn't come to my wedding."
"I didn't want to get my heart broken." Athena cackled at that while Jodie smiled at the youngest Ashryver while she still looked around as they entered Belgium. "I got too busy. Your wedding was marked on my calendar but I was still a grunt so my leave was denied."
"Could have told me. I can pull some strings."
"Why didn't I think of that?"
"No one does. But look at you, in charge of the border and ports."
"And you, the youngest Captain in world's history. I don't think anyone can beat that."
"What can I say except that I excel in being an Auror." Jodie rolled her eyes, changing her coat to a proper civilian's one.
"Where's the wife?"
"Should be back tonight or tomorrow morning," Athena said, playing with her wedding ring and Jodie smiled in response. She knows Athena getting lonely despite being surrounded by people she cares about. The two talked about the upcoming in Germany where all the Ministries are invited and several known families.
"How come you wear your wedding ring like in normal situations like this and not at work, sometimes the balls?"
"Because he is out there. Use the few weaknesses I have that is what I fear—and now I'm regretting telling you this."
Jodie extended her arm before taking Athena's, casting a spell around them. To be precise, the Unbreakable Vow.
"I will never betray you and your family as well as our Ministries in any way possible. "
"Are you crazy?!"
"I am, that's why I got promoted." Jodie snickered, making sure that the oath was sealed.
"In any way, you're French?"
"Recruiting me already?" Jodie smirked as Athena sniffed, scratching her neck. "Maybe my ancestors."
"Damn."
Jodie laughed, wrapped her arm around Athena's shoulders again and led the way for lunch. Athena was annoyed half of the time because Jodie couldn't stop talking so loud, she did shut her up for a quick minute and nagged at her.
Turns out, Athena and Jodie spend the rest of the day together.
And—
Fleur's home.
:3
"My gods Athena, your office is a mess."
Fleur dropped her suitcase by their bedroom door and let it settle itself into laundry while she dealt with Athena's office. There were papers scattered around everything and Fleur figured that her wife was too worked up with all the paperwork she had to do or maybe the wind since the window was open.
She saw Athena's packed calendar, only to light up to see that Athena had cleared and took leave the day she was supposed to be home. The little efforts that Athena thought her wife wouldn't notice are the ones she noticed the most. Which is strange.
Once she was done, she decided to take a shower before making supper.
Just in time for Athena's arrival.
Athena frowned at the lit-up apartment, confused before she smelled something awfully delicious. The brunette hurriedly took off her boots after noticing her wife's heels.
Fleur laughed softly, hearing the struggle Athena had with her boots before quick footsteps to the kitchen.
"My Love!"
"My Darling," Fleur turned away from the stove and glanced at her wife, letting the supper cook itself when Athena collided with her. Her wife nuzzled into the crook of her neck while she wrapped her arms around her back under the coat. "I missed you—"
"I love you."
"I love you too."
The silver-blonde pulled away as she placed kisses all over her wife's face while Athena just took it all with a smile, hands gripped tightly on her waist.
"Godric, do you know how much I missed you?" Athena slid her hands to the small of her wife's back and closed the gap.
"No, but I'm here now. Finally, just finally in your arms."
Athena tightened her hold around Fleur while the beautiful blue eyes she was in love with connected with her golden ones. The rough hands of Fleur seemed to get rougher as they caressed Athena's face. She pressed on that dimple which only made Athena smile even more.
"I think you need to kiss me because these lips are missing yours," Athena whispered, inching closer to Fleur's. Fleur smirked and slowly kissed those needy lips despite just wanting to ravage them. Hands move around one another body's quite a lot, trying to find the perfect placements.
With a lot of hesitancy, Athena pulled away and she found Fleur's cute little pout.
"You made supper."
"I want dessert," Fleur demanded, pulling Athena to their bedroom.
"I should shower first."
"We can do that after I'm done with you."
"That was quite the change, Frenchy." Athena panted, her oxygen left her lungs once her wife got rough. Her coat dropped off her shoulders on the way to their bedroom. Fleur's shirt is gone, just her bare chest which Athena has an extremely hard time to not stare at.
"I forgot how horny I am."
Athena laughed in response with Fleur straddling her, kissing down her neck to her shoulder as the buttons came loose. When Fleur inched closer to the buttons of Athena's pants but to the Veela's annoyance, her wife stopped her and flipped the situation around.
"What happened to the 'I will tell you everything when we see one another again'?"
"You're asking this when I'm needy?"
"Needy? I thought you said you were horny—" The brunette smirked, tossing her shirt on the floor as the moonlight shone into the bedroom. The lights aren't even on and to their surprise the room is well-lit enough to see one another. The golden eyes are never brighter. "—Those two are very different things. Merlin, you're even more beautiful."
"Ma Cherie," Fleur whispered, hands gripping on Athena's thighs. The Brunette licked her lips slowly, eyeing her wife as if she is some prize to be claimed. "You are no better than a man with those eyes."
"I know—Frenchy, you forget with just your beauty you attract me. And when these—" Fleur let out a deep sigh as Athena ran her fingers along her collarbones, trailing down to her breasts. "—are just out in display for me to do whatever...I...want."
"I might be stronger than you."
"But you love being submissive to me." Athena bit her bottom lip and that sent Fleur over the ledge. She shot up and claimed her wife's lips as if she never had done that before. Hands running through locks of hair, then gripping tightly on one's body. Athena tried to squeeze her thighs together but Fleur's hips were in the way.
"Not the way you always do, darling."
—gurl, idk how to write spicy stuff anymore—
Athena misses waking up to the warmth of Fleur and she does not want her wife to love as her arms are wrapped tightly around her body, chest pressed into her back. Fleur would have been out of bed, making breakfast but couldn't leave. Not especially when she has her wife's bare breasts pressed onto her back and how tightly she was held, very comfortable as well as very missed.
Then Athena's forgotten and stupid alarm ran through the bedroom.
It's routine for Athena now. Alarm rings, get out of bed, take a shower, get ready for work and meet her colleagues for breakfast. Every day of the week, minus the weekends.
"Athena—you took leave."
"Je l'ai fait?" The Brunette sat on the bed, eyes still shut as her wife traced patterns on her shoulder. "I did."
Fleur laughed softly into her shoulder, pulling Athena back into the very soft pillows. They would have fallen back asleep but as part of the routine, Athena's stomach is very empty. Fleur laughed even louder while Athena whined into their pillows.
"Should I cook?"
"Yes please—because my Love, I'm too sore to stretch. Aren't you sore—my Merlin, was I terrible?"
"You were—"
"I was terrible! Wasn't I?"
"No! You were amazing as usual despite not touching me. I think you need to do more because I would not get sore so easily now."
"Oh?—oh."
"What?" Fleur chuckled, watching Athena look at her hands.
"My wife is the 1% of the extraordinary, horny, Veelas."
"Hey!" Athena couldn't dodge as fast as she could because of how much her body was aching. "Well, you want to take a bath together or not?"
"You would still let me?"
"Before I change my mind."
"Yes, Frenchy~"
—"—
In the end, Athena was called to the Headquarters which pissed Fleur off. Not that it was her wife's fault but how valuable she is to the Bureau and the entire Ministry itself.
Fleur still didn't know how the broken ankle was, but she suspected something was off because Athena was hiding her limp.
"Before we go in, what's happening with your leg? Why are you limping?"
"I sprained my ankle, it's nothing serious," Athena responds quite quickly before Chloe greets Fleur with kisses on her cheeks and apologises for calling her in on her leave. Her brother-in-law immediately looked away and ran off with their partners, doing their paperwork. She tried to find Audrey but that woman disappeared before she knew it.
"Thank Godric, she was asking questions about my leg."
"Hasn't healed?" Chloe gestured for her to take off her boot and urged her to sit down. Athena did as requested, moving on to the subject at hand. "You have to greet the new recruits, you know?"
"I have—" Athena winces, looking through the list of recruits. "—a week. Plus I haven't seen my wife for a month."
"You went on for longer. I don't think you two can be separated for that long, like you and your twin."
"Quite a few are promising."
"That's a big compliment from you." Chloe chuckled, releasing as much uncomfortableness from her favourite's ankle as much as she could. "You have to tell Fleur about this. As much as I don't want to see the entire office in flames."
"Maybe tomorrow."
"Tonight. That's an order, Captain."
Athena glared at her boss as she put on her socks and then her boots before letting out a deep exhale.
"Yes, Ma'am."
"Now let's meet the new recruits!" The older woman helped Athena up and gave her a few seconds as they carried the files of new recruits.
"Have you informed them that only 4 will be selected?"
"Because we had 9 last year? Nope."
"Dubois..."
"That's your honour."
Fleur caught a glance at Athena and Chloe, and could still see that her wife was hiding her limping. She could tell because of the times she learned of Athena's subtle cues for anything. So subtle that only her twin and mother would know.
"Is your sister busy, Juliette?"
"I would say no. But she has a lot of paperwork to do, why?"
"Why is my wife limping?"
"Don't know." Fleur looked at Juliette, who avoided eye contact with the fierce blue eyes because those eyes could make anyone do anything. She glared at her, still noticing that a lot of Aurors were avoiding her.
The Bureau may be the greatest secret keepers alongside with few other bureaus but under a few terrifying gazes from the Auclairs or Delacours, they would crumble.
"She said she injured it, when?"
"Ask my niece. I have a lunch date with your aunt."
That left Fleur flabbergasted, letting her storm off to Camille's office.
"Your wife is terrifying everyone," Audrey managed out as she stood by Athena's side. The Captain let out a shaky breath, keeping a secret timing, watching the recruits get in line. "I'm going to die at the hands of my best friend."
"Which one?" Ines asked, spooking the group out but not Athena.
"Her wife." Both Audrey and Chloe claimed, very annoyed as to why the recruits were moving like sloths as if they had all the time in the world.
;)
Camille looked up, furious, wondering who was so daring to just enter her office. She was so focused on the stacks of paperwork that her gift was ignored for a brief minute.
"Your daughter is limping around and no one wants to tell me why!"
"You have to wait for my daughter to spit it out. Have you had lunch?"
"Don't—and no."
"Lunch then?"
"Did you—"
"Know about the part where she was called in during her leave or what happened? Yes and yes."
The formerly Delacour let out a deep exhale while she waited for her mother-in-law to pack her office a little before they were headed for lunch. Apolline was slightly offended to see her daughter with her best friend and she and Henri didn't get a greeting. Henri scoffed at his wife's behaviour, noticing that Fleur was irritated but Camille was there so there wasn't a need to worry.
:P
"I do get a bonus right?" Athena asked, with all seriousness that it confuses people while the thirty recruits looked at them. Having somewhat a completely normal conversation. Chloe scoffed and nodded while a few Aurors slowly popped into the hall for a quick duelling session to see how well the recruits think.
"Do we get to duel with the Captain?" A recruit asked Atlas because of his friendly face.
"Don't know. Athy!" Atlas jogged over to his twin and he received a big smile from her. Athena and the other two Captains talked about asking for one another members, well, Athena listened to their proposals because she had the most qualified Aurors or even her.
"Come on, Ashryver, I just need Auclair and both of the Laurents."
"One Laurent."
"I need Delacour and Pasteur."
"Nope."
Atlas stood a good distance, good enough to hear what they were talking about. They watched as they talked. Noticed a couple of things.
Samuel Pasteur, on Athena's team, is the greatest what they so-called concealer. He has the ability to cover large areas and hide everything from muggles and wizards alike. Every member of Athena's team has their own special thing that's why they worked so well together. Vanessa Delacour, well, her charms and negotiation skills. Juliette Auclair, for her family's gift and vast of knowledge about anything. Elaine Laurent, her healing skills while her brother, Jonathan Laurent, his ability to hold out and defend for hours. That is also why he is on the Minister's protection.
"Chastain and Blanc. Please, Ashryver."
"Beaufort and Blanc." Athena rebutted.
"Fine, they're good."
"For me, Auclair and John."
"Sure." They shook hands and Athena deflected a spell as easily as she was to slice a cake. Atlas side-stepped to his twin's side once the Captains split ways to find their borrowed team members. Athena had already informed them, with a quick swish of her wand. "Brother."
"Sister, family dinner?"
"Sure."
"With the wife trying to find out about your recently broken ankle?"
"Unfortunately yes, not to the wife part—"
"Obviously since the units will be having two rookies for three months."
"None of them—" A loud bang and the walls crumbling, catching the attention of Athena. Once, the smoke disappeared revealing who blocked it or didn't. The Captain now know which one she would have wanted. Her twin scoffed, reading her mind easily. They watched him struggle to get up while the one who did boast to his fellow recruits, also impressing the others.
It is always the underdog that Athena would take.
Athena, Chloe and Ines walked over to Regis Bain, the black sheep of the seventh greatest family of the French. Unlike Britain, France authored the Great Thirteen due to their contribution to the nation over hundreds of years rather than complete pure-blooded families.
But all of the Thirteen are pure-blooded. But 'smaller' names, whether pure-bloods, half-bloods or muggle-borns, still have influence in the country. They don't care much about blood purity due to the declining rate of magical blood. Gods, one of the families, half of them are pure Veelas.
"Regis?"
"I'm okay, Ma'am."
"Please don't call me Ma'am, I'm too young for that."
The two older women snickered as the three watched before Ines helped Regis to sit up. Chloe noticed the look on Athena's face, that mischievous grin on her face. Definitely intrigued by what Athena had planned for her rookies, especially for the black sheep.
"Sorry Ma'am."
"Capitaine." Athena huffed, that grin was gone while Regis shut his eyes in regret.
"Désolé, Capitaine."
"Good."
~ . ~
Atlas side-eyed Damon, watching Athena avoiding questions from her wife about her ankle. She really didn't want her to worry when anything happened.
Apolline and her husband, Henri, annoyed Camille with their affection because they wanted to remind her that her husband is in England and she is lonely and very horny.
"Next week—"
"That's not a proper reason to be absent from the Headquarters, Cami," Apolline replied, unamused, without even listening to the rest of her best friend's sentence. Henri hid his amusement, seeing that this wasn't the first time that Camille suggested the idea.
"Vanessa?" Henri voiced, holding Gabriella close before Ava took her with Damon after she heard their conversation. The child needs to remain pure. She's barely 13. [i may or may not forget how old she was.]
"My sister's."
"Oh?" The Veela quirked, noticing that a lot of passers-by were staring at her daughter which reminded her that she was also being stared at. Henri noticed it and pulled her close. "Where is she anyways?"
Camille shrugged. "Can I steal—"
"You will not have my wife."
"What about the one and only Rosalind Blanc?"
"We had a falling out."
"What? When were you going to tell me?" She aggravated as Camille scratched her neck in response.
"Was it you or—"
"It was me. Let's not talk about it."
And speak of the devil. Rosalind Blanc graced their presence.
The youngest Auclair glanced at her mother, noticing the change in her aura and knowing about their falling out. Thanks to one of her mother's drunk ramblings and meltdowns.
Oh yeah, they get drunk together whenever Fleur is away. But she knows once she is back.
It's their once-in-a-while thing.
Camille inhaled deeply, looking at the ground, when her sons begged for Rosalind to join. The Delacours chuckled to one another while Athena and Fleur tried not to laugh.
"Can I?"
"Athena?" Camille looked up to her daughter, foot crushing on some imaginary things. Her daughter nodded because her brothers couldn't their excitement. "Well then, of course. We're having La Buffle. Are you okay with that, Rosy?"
The woman still cared for her.
"I could never pass up on the fancy food, Milly."
Camille cracked into a soft smile after hearing that nickname. Maybe, they could resolve whatever they misunderstood.
-.-
Dimly lit restaurants are always a favourite with the Ashryvers. Resonates with them. It's dark but light up enough to see everyone and what's going on around them. It's relaxing and romantic. Also intimate.
Fleur pulled out Athena's chair, which come as a shock since usually it's always Athena.
"Merci beaucoup, ma amour."
"Je vous en prie, ma cherie." Fleur placed a kiss on Athena's shoulder before making herself comfortable. The twins played with the silverware a little before their significant other kept their hands busy.
The Veelas manage to breathe properly without all the stares.
Because whenever dining with the Ashryvers and Auclairs, they will always have more of a private area. Never once, they were surrounded. It is always the corner tables or hidden away. But when that isn't possible, by the windows or the walls.
Rosalind looked at the Ashryver kids and their significant others. It was fairly unbelievable.
Athena did not want to get into a relationship and was married first. Atlas is impatient but waits years for Olivier. And Damon, the hopeless romantic fell in love with one hopeful romantic.
They are growing up too fast. Just 19 years and 18 years of age.
Also, she is single when they're all taken. Kinda tough.
But she chose to be single—
That's what everyone says when they are single.
"Thena, I guess the ankle not so brok—" Rosalind stopped after noticing the fearful looks from the younger witch and Camille grabbing onto her thigh. Fleur turned her head to the wife in lightning speed while Athena turned away. "I am so sor—"
The soft nagging has started as well as the ordering of their dinner.
Athena Minerva Ashryver just took it all in with Fleur continuing to worry about it after they finished ordering.
She looked around, made sure no one was looking other than the people their having dinner with and pulled Fleur into a kiss. As much as she loves how caring her wife is, she's overstimulated.
"I'm too overwhelmed, Frenchy—"
"That's okay but you said no secrets."
"Well—"
"The non-classified things." Fleur smacked her shoulder and pushed her face away.
hehehehehehehe
