It was just past five o'clock in the afternoon when Catherine Prewett walked into her last patient's room, well it was actually just a patient not necessarily hers, it was a girl, no more than a couple weeks old, she'd been born prematurely by two months and was left on the stairs of St. Jouge's that very same day, there were various theories behind why she might have been abandoned.

None of which mattered to the ginger, ever since the newborn's arrival Catherine had been assigned to the case, having actually been the one who found her, often being the one to change the diapers and feed the girl, just until she was allowed to have the charms that were keeping her alive and well removed.

Whenever she was home resting, even just for the night a nurse would come in, check on the little girl and stay awhile.

"Hello, angel." She whispered as she walked into the isolated room, grabbing her wand and charming herself, getting rid of any impurities that may have been clinging to her. "How's our little nearly girl. Nearly two months old." she cooed softly as she stepped closer to the crib, gently reaching forward, her hands gently going under the little girl's back and behind her head.

Charlotte picked up the little girl and carefully pulled her to her chest, peering down to see her little hand clasp onto her medical apron, something she did only with her since the moment she arrived.

One of the biological creators of the little human in her arms had to have been magical otherwise they would not have left it on the doorstep of a Magical Hospital, which left the eternal question of was it a half-blood or a bastard pureblood.

"You know, you're a brave little girl." Charlotte whispered to the baby, knowing fully well that she was just deepening the bond that she had been creating with her since her arrival, "You're going to have the world at your feet once your older." she swayed slightly and in a circle motion, as if she was dancing on the spot.

The little girl made a gurgling sound, another thing she did only in Catherine's presence, and seemed to snuggle closer to the ginger, allowing the whisps of bright coloured hair, yellow it would seem at the moment, to mingle with Catherine's own ginger.

Or maybe, just perhaps the reason she had been left on the steps of St. Jouge's was her metamorphmagi abilities.

"You're happy. That's new." she lightly teased, pressing a soft kiss on the little girl's forehead and bending forward slightly while holding her close. "You're just a little ball of sunshine when you're with me aren't you." she giggled lightly, before singing softly.

"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are gray
You'll never know dear, how much I love you"

The door opened and in walked Nurse Hewitt, an elderly man that carried the light of life in him, he looked at her with a kind smile as she finished singing "Please don't take my sunshine away" a low and tired chuckle left his lips. Catherine stood up straight and rubbed the little girl's back as she watched Nurse Hewitt charm himself, waiting patiently for him to be done and allowing him to say "Don't worry, I won't take your sunshine away."

"I'm so sorry Nurse Hewitt, I was just... I'm just...." Catherine began, her cheeks turning bright red, there was a slight bounce in her arms, just enough to keep the baby calm, "Don't worry Catherine, I know you always check in on her before you go home, if you go home." Nurse Hewitt chuckled, causing Catherine's blush to deepen.

"I can't help it Ian. I'm always so depressed and sad when I'm away from her." The Mediwitch confessed, her green eyes peering down to the baby on her chest, Nurse Ian Hewitt walked closer to them, his grey eyes shifting from the ginger to the now babe with the red hair, his hand finding her shoulder and resting on it gently.

"And she's fussy and red when you're away from her." he reminded softly, wisely, a soft cry seemed to start bubbling in the young newborn's throat, causing the ginger woman to step away from him and bounce her slightly faster while quietly sushing her, a sight to be seen. "Motherhood is a strange and fickle thing Catherine." Ian started, making his way over to the rocking chair near the crib.

"No woman is completely ready for it until they are thrusted into a situation in which they need to mother someone. Whether they are forced or willingly, whether its theirs by blood, theirs by law or neither." Catherine couldn't help but stare at him, his true words echoing in her ears as if he were a priest giving a sermon in a church, or so her muggle classmates compared their Divination and History of Magic classes to.

"I've met many women in my lifetime, you remind me of a few of them, caring, loving, givers of everything they have and own, ready to mother a child regardless of their purity and status." he stopped for a minute, a sad and reminiscent smile growing on his lips, "You remind me of my wife."

Everyone in St.Jouge's, both new and old, recently arrived or long lasting, knew that Nurse Ian Hewitt, previously known as Mediwizard Ian Hewitt lost his wife to DragonPox approximately 32 years prior to that day, and considering the wizard was 77 years of age, was a long time, especially considering he never remarried or anything.

"You should adopt her." Ian said finally, his grey eyes moving to the ginger woman, "I couldn't..." Catherine whispered, almost afraid to have the little girl hear her. "No one is offering or looking to do so. And quite frankly I know no one better than the woman who has dedicated herself to her to adopt her as her own." Ian expressed and as Catherine looked down at the babe with once again yellow hair that rested against her chest he offered her "Think about it."
