Chapter 1: Christmas Almost Eve

Third Person POV

"On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to mee~... an almost Christmas beating heartyy~" Chisato, our energetic blonde, sang through out the LycoReco café; she was singing her own version of twelve days of Christmas.

Mika was standing behind the counter with a hot cup of tea in his hand. He was amusingly staring at the blonde as she was dancing around the area, with a Santa hat neatly topped on her head.

"On the second day of Christmas my true love gave to mee~... two almost Christmas Reese's, and an almost Christmas beating hearty~"

Chisato continued to sing with glee in her voice. She loved Christmas; she was highly prepped to the spirit of it. Almost as of Christmas was a 'side-job' to her as she says to herself. Whenever December rolled through, she quickly became busy with planning. Mostly because she spent Christmas planning by herself.

Last Christmas, it was she, her, and herself. The blonde had an accident with her heart, so she had to spend Christmas in a hospital bed. Nothing was too serious, but that excuse still does not justify what had happened.

The doctors ran sound tests to the beating of her heart. It beats normally now, but last year it was out of sync. A heart palpitation attacked her chest, causing fear for the doctors. To protect Chisato from any more damage, they kept her in the hospital to fix the problem.

Eventually, the last test they ran was a normal beat of Chisato's heart. She was free to go until December 30th, missing her favorite holiday.

It devastated the young blonde, but she tried making light of the situation. She thought to herself, "At least my heart didn't give out?" Or "At least I'm still here?"

Always, she tried. She tried being positive. That is most likely why she survived through her heart predicament.

Now. This year is her chance to have a wonderful Christmas. Since... well...

She wasn't alone this time.

"Chisato?" Someone called out for the blonde. Worry was surrounding the echo of their voice.

The blonde jolted her head around, snapping out of her thoughts. She saw Mika gazing at her eyes with a worried expression on his features.

"Huh?" She questioned what had happened to make Mika anxious. The taller male set his tea cut on the counter, beginning to speak. "Are you okay? You were singing, then stopped suddenly," Mika asked his beloved blonde, who was like a daughter towards him.

Chisato stared at him, blinking a few times before answering his question. She didn't realize her freeze frame until Mika pointed it out. "Oh! Yeah, yeah! Just... thinking..." the blonde sheepishly scratched the nape of her neck with her fingernails. She must of been thinking harder than she thought.

"It must of been important if it interfered  with your singing," the taller male lets out a giggle. He motioned Chisato to sit down at the counter for a chit chat about it.

Chisato stood no chance at saying "no", so she gave into sitting down at the counter. "So..." Mika started. "What's on your mind?"

"Hmm... pass a whiskey and then we'll talk," the blonde tightened the corner of her lip, creating a cheeky smirk to form. She of course knew she was not old enough to drink; last time she checked, 17 year olds could not drink alcohol.

The taller male quirked up a black brow before easing it back down. "Sure thing," Mika rotated his body behind him, grabbing hold of a bottle of whiskey, with a puzzled Chisato staring at him.

"I was kidding—" as Chisato was talking, Mika poured a glass of whiskey in no time. After working at the café for many years, Mika was now the Flash of liquids.

The taller male set the bottle back in its appropriate place, slamming the glass on the counter table.

Chisato looked at the glass, then at Mika, then back at the glass again, very shocked by his reaction. "Uh—"

"Go on," Mika insisted. Chisato stared at the glass for a few seconds before easing her way to pick it up. She brought the rim to her lips, taking a tiny gulp of liquid.

Immediately, her reaction was negative. "Eww!" Chisato stuck her toungue out in pure disgust. She did not like the taste of bitterness on her taste buds.

Mika smiled at Chisato's reaction; he found it hysterical how the blonde was sometimes gullible in these situations. "Ugh! How can people stand this trash!?" The young blonde whacked her glass away from her presence, regretting her life choices.

"It's root beer, Chisato," Mika let out a small chuckle. "HUH!?" The blonde widened her eyes drastically; the taller male's words caught her off guard completely. " Wha— but—"

Mika grabbed the bottle in his hands again, the bottle was purposefully turned to its bare side. He rotated the bottle by using his fingers, revealing a label that read 'Root Beer' on the front. Chisato stared at the bottle with strained, narrow eyes. What reflected back to her was nothing she would've expected.

"EWW! GET AWAY!" The blonde swatted at the bottle as Mika pushed it closer towards her, teasing her with the substance. "This is just as bad as needles! Ah!"

A body walked through the lounge of the café at this time, curious about all the commotion happening. "What is happened?" The person asked while tightening one of her pigtails she done herself.

"Takina! Save me!" Uninvitingly, Chisato wrapped her arms around the black-hair's waist, caving herself behind her lover. This, however, caused a reaction out of Takina, if her flushed face didn't say enough, her body was shouting it all. "W-What?"

"KEEP THE ROOT BEER AWAY!" Chisato screamed as best she could, tightening her hold on Takina's waist. Another person joined the chaotic nature of this situation. This body was much more taller than the two younger girls and more mature.

"I HEARD BEER!" The brunette, Mizuki, joined the scene, greatly ecstatic by the words of alcohol names. She unironically had a bottle of beer in her hands.

"NO!" Chisato screamed again. She was on thin ice with Takina's balancing; they could both come crashing down to the ground in minutes. Mizuki, on the other hand, was slightly drunk from her ingestion of beer. Strangely enough, her balancing was better than Chisato and Takina's at the moment.

Mika only stood behind the counter once more, sipping on his cup of tea, and watching the scene unravel. He had completely forgot the question he asked Chisato earlier.

"Merry Christmas almost Eve," he said to himself.
