--Chapter 10--
Soon after explaining the situation to Lydia, she left along with Derek.
Stiles was left at his dark and empty house by himself. He sat on the dinner table as he waited for his dad to come home.
The kitchen clock read '11:00PM'.
Stiles sighs and taps his fingers on his thigh as he put his tail back in his pant leg, not intending to tell his dad, yet.
It wasn't too long later that Noah Stilinski walked through the door. He had large bags under his eyes, which were practically swollen shut with drowsiness.
"Stiles, where could you be?" He mumbles to himself as he walks further into the house.
Stiles jumps off the table and walks to his dad, who's eyes widen at the sight of his son.
"Right here."
The Sheriff grabs Stiles and pulls him into a hug. Stiles hugs his dad back.
"Where the hell were you?" Stiles' dad asks between soft sobs. "Your jeep was here, but you weren't. I didn't know what happened or where you were."
Stiles closes his eyes as they fill with tears. "I had t-to go to Deaton."
"Deaton?" Asks the Sheriff.
Stiles nods and both father and son step back from the hug, "Um, I-I had to figure out what this w-was." His voice cracks as he speaks and shows his dad the tattoo.
"A tattoo?" Asks Noah.
"Uh, kinda, it means 'fox' in Japanese." Explains Stiles, worried on how his dad will react. "The Nogitsune left it..."
Noah slowly nods just glad that Stiles was back, "Did anything else happen? That I should know about?"
Stiles looks at his dad, "No-n no?"
"That sounded more like a question than a statement." Says Noah.
"Well, uhm. I got kicked out of the pack."
"Kicked out?!" Yells the Sheriff.
"Maybe." Says Stiles, flinching at his dads sudden hostility.
"You tell me who's idea this was and I'm going to pistol with this little bast-" Stiles cuts off his father.
"Dad it's fine! I'm gonna figure it out tomorrow! Lydia and Mason are going to help me." Stiles says in a voice, meant to convince himself more than his dad.
Noah slowly nods and steps back as his fury slowly dims.
"Well, we should probably get some sleep. You look like you haven't slept in ages." Says the Sheriff.
"Speak for yourself." Stiles says with a chuckle as he hugs his dad. "I love you, dad."
"I love you too Stiles."
And with that they both headed upstairs to get the sleep they both desperately needed.
---
The next morning Lydia wakes up with a sudden jolt, Stiles' brilliant orange eyes burned onto the back of her eyelids.
She had to help him fix this. He needed his brother and pack on his side.
Lydia sighs and slowly crawls out of her bed.
Today was going to be harsh. She concluded as she gathered her school stuff and put on a patterned pastel pink skirt and cute black top.
She ate a quick breakfast and headed out the door with her bag and keys in hand.
---
Stiles' morning was just as fast paced as Lydia's. He got out of bed, his whole body filled with anxiety.
"Oh dear god." Stiles breaths out, slightly jumping on the balls of his feet as he clenches and unclenches his fists.
He hears his dad shut the door and lock it and starts to wonder how the super hearing works when he is brought out of his thoughts by the loud rumble of his dads car engine.
Stiles jumps and walks over to his bathroom, getting in the shower only for a minute for a rinse, before getting out and putting back on Derek's black shirt.
Stiles didn't know why, but for some reason he felt a sense of security when he wore it.
He shrugged on a grey and white flannel on over the shirt and put some jeans on.
Stiles checks the clock before walking out of the room, he still had at least 10 minutes to eat a decent breakfast and find his keys...
His keys!
"For the love of god!" Stiles practically shouts as he raced around trying to find the keys to his baby.
10 minutes of looking pass by like a blink of an eye and Stiles starts to panic more and more.
"Nonono." He says under his breath. His fingers start to fumble and he can't even focus on looking anymore. He glances at the clock and decides to ditch the idea and count on his new abilities to take him to school.
With that, Stiles heads out the door and starts quickly jogging his way to school.
---
Scott and the pack were already at school conversing in a corner with their textbooks under their arms.
Lydia arrives and the pack looks wearily at her, Scott approaching first.
"What happened after we left? Why did you stay? Is Void back?" Asks Scott, eyes scanning over Lydia.
"Wowowowow. Easy with the questions." Says Lydia, putting her hands up in order to get her point across. "I'm fine, Stiles did have a panic attack. There is no Void. The Nogitsune is gone." Lydia looks into Scotts brown eyes and squints her own, "And I stayed because Stiles is my friend and he needed help. I wasn't about to leave him because of some ridiculous theory." Lydia finishes with a unintended shout.
Scott looks at Lydia in both surprise and maybe an ounce of fear at her words. "What happened after I left?" He asks.
Lydia's face softens, "Derek and I calmed him down. Well, Derek did. And here is what Stiles wants to happen." Lydia looks at Scott, who becomes a little sketchy, "He wants the pack to meet him at his house after school so he can explain the situation, and possible figure out what's wrong."
"What about lacrosse practice?" The True Alpha asks.
"Skip. Because you need to help Stiles. You need to be there for him. Just like he was and still is there for you." She explains.
Scott is about to say something else when Lydia puts a finger up to his mouth, telling him that there is no room for argument.
"Fine." Breaths out Scott, "I'll tell the pack and we will all be there after school.
"Great," she says with a smile, "I'll get Mason and Corey to come too."
With that, the bell rang and sent them all off to their first class of the day.
---
Stiles takes a much shorter route to school by jogging through Beacon Hills Reserve.
It's not just his speed and amazing cardio that allows him to enjoy the run but also the sound, sight and smell.
Stiles' ears pick up the squabbling of nearby turkey, and the scratching of chipmunks and rabbits. The distant sound of rushing from a nearby stream is also a delight to his now sensitive ears.
Stiles looks around the untrailed woods. It truly is beautiful. Why hasn't he ever realized how cool this place is? The thick trees, the pine needles under his sneakers, the animals.
He takes in a breath and multiple smells hit him at once.
Pine, moss, mint, wolfsbane, rubber. Wowowow hold up, wolfsbane? There hasn't ever been a wolfsbane plant in these woods as far as he can remember.
With that putting him on edge, Stiles clutches the sides of his back pack and starts to pick up his pace.
Someone must be out here, and he had a terrible feeling that they were after him.
---
In a bush off to the side an older man had a fairly small wolfsbane smoke bomb wrapped in his fist, ready to throw at his target. A brown haired, teenager particularly known for his unnecessary sarcastic comments.
The man could practically see the red tail swishing underneath the boy's pant leg. That is part of what he was after. But he needed to wait. He needed to wait until he could have it all. Or else they wouldn't want him.
So Gerard watched Stiles get a whiff of the wolfsbane before Stiles picked up his pace towards the high school.
Saving the small wolfbane bomb for later, when he knew the boy wouldn't know what hit him.
