The sun shone above Yugakure, illuminating the streets. People talked happily in the streets, children chased each other playfully, and the flowers were in bloom. Deep in the forests surrounding the village, a woman sat on the forest floor, staring at her daughter patiently, a smile on her face as she watched the young child in front of her get distracted by all the sounds of the forest.

"Umeko," the woman began patiently, "I thought you wanted to practice today?"

Hearing those words the young child, no older than four, looked at her mother, "I do! Please Kaa-chan?" Her dark blue eyes looked at her mother, pleading.

Her mother let out a gentle laugh "Okay. Now, activate your Ketsuryugan, and then we can get started." Umeko nodded excitedly and closed her eyes for a moment, focusing for a moment before reopening them, revealing her kekkei genkai. Her eyes were glowing a blood red color, the infamous sign of her kekkei genkai, and Umeko felt the familiar sharp pain that accompanied it. Her mother nodded approvingly before activating her Ketsuryugan as well. "Now, I want you to find an animal and put the Ketsuryugan genjutsu on them. Then, force then to carry out a simple task, like climbing a tree. Does that sound good?" Umeko's mother asked, closing her eyes and letting them turn back to their natural dark purple color.

Umeko nodded enthusiastically, standing up and running off in search of an animal.

An hour later Umeko came running back to her mother, her kekkei genkai deactivated and her eyes back to their natural indigo color. "I did it! Kaa-chan I did it!" She exclaimed happily, her eyes shining with happiness.

Her mother smiled, "Good job Umeko, I'm so proud of you." She knelt down and picked up her daughter, and then proceeded to walk home.

On the way to their home, Umeko and her mother began talking. "Umeko, you want to be a ninja right?" She asked her daughter carefully. Umeko nodded happily and began talking about all the stories of the brave ninjas who saved people everyday, not noticing the frown on her mother's face. It wasn't that she didn't want her daughter to be a ninja, it was just that she knew if Umeko became a ninja there's both go through many hardships. Yugakure wasn't a ninja village anymore, so for Umeko to train they'd have to move. For normal families it wouldn't be a problem, but their family didn't exactly have a pleasant history in some villages.

Their clan, the Chinoike Clan, was originally from Kumogakure and they were famous for their kekkei genkai, the blood red Ketsuryugan. One day, a Chinoike woman became a mistress to the daimyo, and eventually the daimyo became ill and died. The daimyo's wife, angry and jealous, wrongly accused the Chinoike Clan of killing the daimyo, and even though some people knew it was a lie, they feared the Chinoike's kekkei genkai, so they agreed. Eventually, the daimyo's wife hired the Uchiha Clan of Konohagakure to drive out the Chinoike's. They were exiled to the Valley of Hell in The Land of Hot Water, where they were forced to live cautiously. Umeko's mother fled the Valley of Hell when she was pregnant with Umeko, and Umeko was born in Yugakure. Just a couple years later, the clan was mysteriously eradicated, with no known survivors left.

With their clan's history, Umeko's mother refused to move to Konohagakure, mostly due to the fact that it was the Uchiha Clan that drove the Chinoike from Kumogakure. The closest major hidden village other than Konohagakure would be Kumogakure. While she would prefer to not go to any of the hidden villages, she decided she and Umeko would go to Kumogakure. Only for Umeko's happiness.
