Chapter 7
Red
Six days later, a lot of sea sickness later, we were finally in docked in England. It was a cargo ship, with only a few passengers but we managed to sneak in through Annabeth's contacts in the village.
"Only if you weren't a wolf, we would've been here six days ago, by plane." Annabeth rolled her eyes at me, her tone completely aggressive by hiding in the ship for six long, torturous days. We survived on thrown away meat and leftover bread crumbs.
A plane ride would've been quicker but I was still in my wolf form and my casket was being held by a few men Annabeth lured in her magic. Not only she mind-fucked them but she also managed to steal their truck and drive to Gloucester once they were done with loading my dead body into the truck.
"This better work out." I said to her through the link we had. It was hard to have a conversation with my own twin sister as she blocked me most of the time but I still did.
"Oh, of course, it will!" She gave me an eyeroll before placing her attention back on the road and the steering wheel. "Witches originated from here—England. I know this woman in Gloucester and she is a kind of a witch goddess, I was taught by her while on my stay here and I can tell she'll be able to help us out." Anna blabbered to me.
"Yes, with a price." I reminded her.
Before leaving the States, Anna made it clear that there was only one woman that could help us—me and that woman usually wanted something in return, either a piece of your soul or your kidneys.
"Come on, everything comes with a price. I'll try getting a discount out of her." She gave me a wink before she fastened her speed on the road.
"Whatever it is, make it quick. I cannot stand this fury body anymore. I would really like to go back to mine." I grumbled to myself and laid down on the backseat of the truck to get some rest.
The long ship ride gave me a lifetime of sickness and I wasn't going to get over it anytime soon. Once back into my human form, I would fly back to the States and live happily ever after with Luciano and our lovely daughter that was probably being taken care off.
That was my dream.
Small as always.
The entire two-hour truck ride, I assumed Gloucester was a city but it was a town, in the middle of nowhere. High, thick mountains covered with ice touched the sky, the grounds were cold as death and even my furry body couldn't stand the storming weather around here.
Where was I?
"Well, let me tell you a few things before we linger around, looking for that witch Goddess." Anna grabbed my leash before I could run and I growled at her. "We agreed, no running, you will get killed."
"Fine, bitch."
"I heard that. The leash is on you for protection reasons—"
"I'm not a dog." I stated.
"I know, sister but we need to stay calm and open our eyes for any danger. I don't want to lose you!" she leaned in and ran her sharp nails across my jaw.
I melted with the few rubs. Anna locked up the truck and grabbed the keys before taking me into a small house at the corner of the street. She made sure, beforehand, that my scent would stay hidden.
"What were you saying again?"
She crashed on the dirty, filthy and dusty couch and splayed her arms, stretching them till its extent. I gagged at the sight and scent of filth and shit. What was this place even? A trash house?
"Gloucester is ruled by a strong Alpha and they don't give shit about what happens in the States so they don't know who you are. They have their own hierarchy here so be warned. Stay in this house while I try finding that woman. It's a little dirty but manage!" Anna patted my head and explained in a quick breath.
I heaved in a sigh. "Run the shower for me before you leave, please."
"You're literally a wolf." She snapped.
"So? I like to stay clean."
"Whatever. I'll run the shower and lock the doors. Stay indoors but if you sense any danger approaching, break the window and run. I'm going to see what I can find." Anna said before she stood back on her feet.
She ran across the house and finally switched on the water before running a bath for me. I just needed to clean my fur after a long week of hiding inside a large, cargo ship.
Just before leaving, Anna glanced back at me and then walked out of the house, locking the two front doors. She had been quite helpful all along and I hoped we would get what we wanted or else this trip would've all been a waste.
When Anna found me and we met after my death, I thought she would know how to connect my wolf with my body but she didn't practice that kind of magic, not anymore. However, she knew someone who did and it was the sole reason we were in England, with my casket still rocking inside the truck she had stolen.
I was willing to do anything to get back my life, my humanity, myself, even if it took months.
I wanted to live.
