Chapter 67

Chapter 67

I sprawled away from Damon, backing up the wall while screams hit the back of my throat, spreading across the house. My wolf broke out, crying and weeping in immense pain. I tried coping with the pain but it was almost impossible and it was similar to as what I had felt when I shifted for the first time.

Blood dripped down from my mouth, I looked up and held my stomach tight. "You're not going to get anything out of killing me and we both know, no matter what, I won't die." I said, growling midway. My mouth dried out, in need of water.

"Who told I want to kill you?" Damon came back to me after I distanced away. "I just want to hold you down till everyone else you know is dead."

As his hand reached to increase the pressure of the pain, I snapped and grabbed his wrist. "Sileus," I mumbled before the pain finally broke through me and left. "Mystiferio." I pushed him back and with the help of a little magic, he flew across the hallway and landed on the other side of the room.

There was a numbing feeling spreading across my legs as his spell was breaking and my strength was returning. Even with several tries, I couldn't quite get off the ground and found myself stumbling right back down.

"Mystiferio." I repeated, keeping him down. "I know I killed Gretel but she was evil, her existence called upon destruction and one day or the other, she was going to die. I made the process quick and ended her. I don't have to apologize to you for killing your Mother but I'll say I'm sorry you couldn't talk with her before she died." I spat out, angrily while the ache in my body drifted.

Crouching on the ground, he coughed before he rose and looked into my eyes. A small peal of laughter passed by his lips and he replied, "You really think this is about my Mother?"

I felt a slight tremor running through my body. "Charlotte?" My heart rammed inside my chest. It wasn't a lie. We were right about it.

"Killing her once wasn't enough that your husband had to go ahead and kill her again,"

"How do you know her?" I finally got up on my feet, a little confused but with enough power to kill one more person before the night ended.

"I've known her for long."

"She cheated on Luciano with you—"

"We were more than that," He whispered, closing his eyes. "We were everything in those golden months when she came here to me. I gave her everything but she chose to love power and hierarchy."

My jaw clenched, "What were you doing with Lisa then? You married for nothing?"

"We married on a contract, to ruin you and your entire family, to end the control of power, to end the hierarchy in our worlds, to end the Hanson's for good." He sighed and looked down the stairs. "Pity she's dead."

The emotion of guilt sat in my heart and mind for several seconds. It was like waves of confusion and remorse. It was that moment I had realized that I killed Lisa, for nothing. I took her life out of spite and revenge and nothing more.

I sucked my breath and said, "I'm sorry, Damon but you're going to have to tell me where the witches are or I'll kill you."

"Good luck with that."

I no longer had the choice to keep him alive for any longer. It wasn't like he was going to tell me where the witches were buried and staying here was just going to waste more time. My hand wandered in the air and little ball of sparks formed above my fingers.

Damon stared right at me. There was utter silence between us and I was going to kill him until the door in front of me creaked open. I snapped my head at the voice and saw a shadow walk out, a shadow of a child.

"What's happening?"

It was a child, a boy, in the house and he was no less than five years old. He had a sleepy tone as he just woken up from the voices of a war.

My eyes widened and I pushed my hand down as the boy looked at me, frightened for his life.

"Go inside, Victor!" Damon yelled at the boy who quickly scurried back into his room and slammed the door shut.

I froze, a chill shaking through my spine as I kept my eyes on the door. I pulled back into reality. Lisa and Damon were only married for months, they couldn't have a child, nevertheless, a five year old.

My mind imagined the worst.

Charlotte.

"You have a child." I whispered, my heart dropping at the sight of him. It made absolute sense.

Charlotte was away from Luciano and Brittleburgh for almost a year and during that time, she was with Damon, with a child.

I was too lost in my thoughts that I didn't see Damon attacking me from afar. When I snapped back, I whipped my hand in the air and said, "Sileus," Moving back, I continued, "It's Charlotte's child."

He continued to lash at me with magic when the spell over him broke and his power returned.

"This doesn't has to be like this!" I exclaimed, breaking the mirror behind and sending the shards to his direction.

"This has to be like this." He flicked his hand and the shards pierced into the wall beside him.

"It doesn't," I shook my head, stopping on my grounds. "I'll promise your son's survival and protection in this world as long as you give me the witches. Neither of us have to die, not today."

Damon stopped with spitting fire at my side and when he did, all my confusion's came to an end. It was his and Charlotte son. Something no one knew about. Charlotte was driven to get power and Luciano so she never cared about anything, therefore, leaving her own son and coming back to Brittleburgh years ago. She was much more than a cheater and a liar, she was a pure bitch.

I could understand the pain Damon felt but if he wanted, we both could end this, for once and for all.

"Please," I begged as time passed. "Power, royalty, hierarchy is something our worlds run in. If you kill me and my family today, there'll be someone else who'll take the throne and the games will continue because we are creatures and we need a leader to follow."

"You've no idea what you're talking about."

"I know, I know what you want, Damon. When I gave birth to Fiona, she was my entire world and I dreaded for her future knowing there were so many people out there that would want her, her position, her powers, her wealth—everything." A warm tear fell down my cheeks. "Let me leave with the witches and you have my word that neither you nor your son will be touched by anyone in our world. Please."

I just wanted this all to be over without anyone dying. Killing Damon meant loosing the location of the witches and then loosing Luciano who was already out of control.

Damon's stare and his silence felt like it was torturing my soul but it wasn't long before submitted to me, taking my word and leaving me with his.

"Come with me," He said.

We left the house and drove away from Whitebridge. In the middle of a forest nearby, he stopped the car and went out. The smell of herbs were strong and when I saw the fresh soil underneath me, I knew where we were.

The witches were buried here.

My entire world brightened with happiness and I quickly pulled out my phone to text Anna with the location.

It still wasn't too late.

"Don't bother." Damon said, lifting a thick sheet from the ground and revealing the six dead witches that he had killed earlier.
