Chapter 63
Chapter 63
I walked back and forth outside my bedroom door, waiting for Ben to be done tying Luciano up to the fireplace. It was the closest thing we could do after hearing a couple bone-cracking sounds while we having lunch together. It was his wolf, trying to force himself out, all over again. Restraining him wouldn't only keep us secure but also himself.
Cordelia was right when she told us we only had a couple days—because we did.
I heard a growl, intense and strong, coming out of the room. I stretched my hand out and reached for the door handle while my heart thumped in my chest. I couldn't be near Luciano as he wanted to kill me the most as I was his mate. But staying on the other side of the room was killing me too.
Before I could open the door, Ben jumped out and closed it. "You don't want to go inside." He breathed hard, his nostrils flaring and sweat beading down his forehead.
"What happened?"
He had spent almost an hour in there, trying to shackle him up. "He's going to shift, Red."
"No," I shook my head. "We can't let that happen. You've stop him."
If Luciano shifted, it would end everything—everything.
"I'm trying but I can't, the link isn't allowing me." Ben took my arm and pulled me away from the door as he knew I was going to jump inside if I heard something wrong.
I had a weak heart for Luciano and any small thing as a scream was going to wreck me.
Furrowing my brows together, I asked, "Link? What link?"
"Since Uncle Vincent gave him back his place and the crown, he's an Alpha—the Alpha King now and his wolf is overpowering him and using his own position against me so anything I say or do, he won't listen and instead, I'll have to submit as I'm his subject." Ben explained, making barely any sense to my clouded mind.
"Wh—what?" I peeked over his shoulders, looking at the door. "Wait. So, you can't stop him from shifting?"
"No."
"Well, I can because I'm not under his ruling, right?" I asked, puffing out a breath.
Ben shrugged, "You're his mate and you know wolves, they'd rather die than listen to their mates because of their ego—"
"But Luciano isn't like that." I cut him off rudely.
"We aren't talking about Luciano, Red! We are talking about his wolf, his wolf is completely different creature, he has it's own personality, it's own ego, it's own charm."
By the time Ben was done yelling at me, I heard sounds of a few things breaking behind him, they were coming straight from the room. My head swiveled and I looked around.
"We need to find someone else then because if he shifts then it's the end." I said, horror at the back of my voice.
"I did manage to restraint him but if his wolf overpowers, then he'll break through. We need to find someone who's either equal or above him," Ben stopped for a second to catch his breath and in the meantime, I took Luciano's scent in. He was still in his human form.
There was pain, so much pain I could sense but more than that, there was anguish and rage, just like Cordelia assumed.
"What about—"
"Uncle Vincent? No, when he gave Luciano the position, he subconsciously became his subject." Ben replied before I could ever complete.
I placed my hand over my mouth and gathered my thoughts for a second. "What about my D—Dillion? He's not a part of this pack and he's an Alpha. He could pause Luciano from shifting and in the meantime, I'll look for Damon."
"Where is he?"
I pulled out my phone, "I'll have to call him," My fingers trembled as I looked for Dillion's number. "I don't even know if he's going to agree." I mumbled, placing the call and waiting for him to pick up.
Cordelia and Jacqueline were on call with the witches in Lunaris, figuring out who were the six witches that Damon sacrificed for this spell. They had a great chance in finding where they were buried if they knew who they were.
When Dillion picked up the phone, I opened my mouth to say something but the words didn't reach my throat. What was I supposed to say?
"Red?"
I winced at his sound. "Hey,"
"What's wrong?"
"I need your help."
"Where are you?"
"At the house. Can you come here?" I asked.
"Of course. I'll be there in ten, okay?"
The second the call ended, another sinister, feral growl pierced through my ears. A couple more things broke inside the room and I stepped back. Ben turned around to the door and raised his arm at my side to protect me. He took a quick glance and closed the door before anything else happened.
With a sigh, he said, "Well, he's still chained so I guess we are in luck. When is Dillion going to be here?"
"In ten."
He nodded.
I sharply turned my head at the stairs when I found Fiona running down with Anna behind her. Instead of running straight to me, she ran towards the door and before she could open it, I grabbed her and picked her off the ground.
Her face was full of dread, "Daddy is sick." She said, wiping her fist across her cheeks.
"No, no, he's fine."
"I want to see him!" She tried to get away from my hold but I didn't let her.
"No, Fiona, he needs to be alone or he'll harm someone." I walked away from the door and took my daughter elsewhere before she heard anything else.
We had no idea what Fiona was yet and there was a great chance she was a part-wolf and in that case, it wouldn't matter what she was to Luciano if his thirst for blood got worse.
Nothing would.
Taking Fiona to the garden, I sat down with her and diverted her mind from the sounds she had earlier. She was such a pure soul and she was too young to know what was happening. When she began coloring and drawing with Valarie, I left her alone and went back inside.
The continuous primal growling and howling came to an halt when Dillion came to the house. Since he was an Alpha himself, Luciano's urge to shift lowered and was almost gone.
Although, it was hours later and the sun had set by then.
I pushed my hair into the ponytail and splattered some cold water on my face. The water from the tap continued to pour down onto the sink while I stared at myself in the mirror.
What happened to us?
"He's calm," Anna said, knocking on the door. "You should see him before leaving. We plan onto putting him to sleep till you return or till we know what's going to be the outcome of this."
I pushed the tap down and patted my face with a dry towel before walking out with Anna by my side. "Can you do that?" I asked, raising a brow.
We weren't able to put him to sleep earlier as he wasn't allowing us to do so.
"Yeah. Jacqueline will do it since she is his Mother and Luciano has agreed to it." She replied, pushing the door of my room open for me.
I took a deep breath and a step inside, my heart hammering in my chest like it was going to explode any second.
"Can I have a couple minutes alone?" I turned around and asked Anna.
"Of course!" She dragged the door shut.
