Chapter 26

Luciano

I followed a servant in to a small office, belonging to Dillion as I was called in by him for something I didn't know. I quietly hoped it wasn't about last night. Red was being careful and if I had slipped then she'd be the one in trouble and I couldn't handle to see that. I was controlling myself and intended onto until things were sorted out.

"Alpha will be here in a few." The servant with brown eyes said before narrowing her head and walking out of the room.

I warmed my cold hands at the fireplace. It was cold, and the weather around here was horrible. Flakes of snow fell on the ground, wind gushed around, smacking away the trees and everything that came in their way.

I stopped gritting my teeth and pushed my hands into my coat before walking around the office. It was a small one, on the ground floor of his mansion. I picked up the frame from the table and turned around to find young Dillion standing, presumably a garden or a backyard of a house. My eyes turned, landing upon the old woman beside him, he had a loose arm over her shoulder. They both were smiling at the camera.

It took me a second, just a second to recognize the woman. Mae. Red's dead grandmother. I drew a deep breath, filling my lungs before placing the frame back on the table.

What was Red's grandmother doing with Dillion? The photo seemed like it was old, Mae looked younger along with Dillion. What the fuck?

"Luca!"

I wriggled out of my thoughts and turned around to face Dillion who had just walked in through the door.

"Take a seat." He said, motioning at the chair in-front of the table.

I was taken back, shaken and confused but yet I sat down on the chair. "Is there something you wanted?" I asked.

"Yes. You were quite confident last night while speaking to Bernard. How do you know that the King will return to his throne in a few weeks?" Dillion asked, crossing his arms over his chest and giving me a questioning look.

My shoulders curved back and I gave myself a second to make something up quickly. "I told you, I've worked for the King. He'll be back." I replied, not giving out too many details, especially when I was supposed to be the one questioning him and the image that I couldn't stop staring at.

"Are you sure?"

"A hundred percent."

"All right. Will you be returning to the States as well?"

"Yes."

"Oh." He nodded a few times. I guess he wanted to ask for something but couldn't do so.

I gathered up strength and gestured at the image. "Is that you?" I asked him.

Dillion picked up the frame and turned the image to himself. A warm smile curled up on his lips as he glanced at it. "Yes, that's me." His tone was emotional and soft when he responded to me.

"And the woman? Who is she?" Apart from Red's grandmother. It was the first time I had seen Mae's image and she was young, probably at her late forties. That was a long time back, long before even Red was born.

"She's my Mother." Dillion replied, still smiling.

My face quickly turned pale, and my mouth dropped. "What the fu—" I stopped for a second. "I mean—what?"

What the fuck was happening here? Did I just hear it right or was it my mind?

"Yeah, she's my Mother, not that it should concern you in anyway. Unless, you know her, do you?" He set the frame back to the table and diverted all his attention on me.

"Yes," I scoffed, "I've known her years now." At that minute, my tongue ran.

Dillion's eyes widened and I could tell he was confused. "How?"

I bounced forward, placing my hand on the table. Either Dillion was a big fat liar or we all had been fucked. "How is she your Mother?"

"What?"

What the fuck, Luciano.

"I mean, as far as my knowledge takes me, she had a son and he died—like two decades ago!" I further explained. "That's Mae Wallow, she resided in Whitebridge, PA and she lived with her granddaughter." I tried not to bust out everything and put Red into trouble until I knew what I was dealing with.

"How do you know this all?" He jumped from his seat and walked over to me as if he was going to kill me.

As he leaned over me, I swallowed hard, "I had met her a few times."

"You're lying."

"I wouldn't."

Mae was important figure in Red's life, she was the woman took care of her, bought her up and protected her till her last breath. I had my respect for her as she was kind and sweet. This was the last thing I'd ever lie about. If the roles were switched, and I had my title, I'd be the one questioning Dillion and his very peculiar existence in this world since he was supposed to be dead—long ago.

Dillion stepped away from me, stunned, he shook his head a couple times, and I watched him settle down from the information.

"She's a lone-wolf."

"I know."

"I had been looking for her for years, trying to find her. Where is she now? Where can I find her?" His eyes held hurt and pain when they met with mine.

A muscle ticked at my jaw. "She's dead." I whispered, "She was killed by a witch a few months back. It was unfortunate." I remembered each second of that day, it much more painful than anything else. Red lost the second precious thing in her life, apart from me. Although, she recovered from her Nana's death.

Dillion gasped at my words before everything fell dead silent. In the silence, I grasped on this and realized this was much more fucked up than I thought. Mae was his Mother, which meant, he was Red's Father, unless he had another brother who died.

"Do you have a Brother?" I asked, breaking the silence.

"No." He shook his head and his voice trembled as he spoke. "I can't believe it." He murmured, running his hands across his face.

"Sorry you had to learn this way."

"Was she alone? Was someone with her when she died? Did she have a funeral?" He began questioning.

I grew quiet. Did I need to tell him? Or did he know already? It couldn't be possible. If Dillion knew that Red and Anna were his daughter's, they wouldn't be working here, let alone working against him.

"She had a grand-daughter and there was a funeral." I replied.

"A grand-daughter?" Dillion stared at me for long, "My daughter died with her Mother when she was three. I fled here to England after their death. It's not possible. The rogues killed them both." He continued in a shaky breath.

Slowly, things made sense. According to Red, her parents were killed a few years after she was born, by rogues. It was initially her Mother who dipped in and got herself killed as she couldn't bear to stay as the chosen one. Her Nana took care of her since then.

"Yeah, about that..." I trailed off, "You might want to do a little research on your family." I scratched the back of my head and lifted myself off the chair, ready to walk out and run wild over Red.

"So, you're telling me I've a daughter?" Dillion raised up and smiled at me.

"Probably two."
