Some NEW Information About The Wattcoins!

Okay first before we dive into most likely a stressful topic for many people I need to say this:
IF YOU ARE IN ANYWAY GONNA ASK WATTPAD, GET IN CONTACT WITH THEM ABOUT THIS BETA UPDATE OR ABOUT THE COINS BE POLITE. ASK THEM NICELY AND DON'T BE A TWAT. IF YOU ASK NICELY AND CALMLY THEY WILL ANSWER IN A CALMLY AND BETTER RESPONSE THAN TO YOU BEING RUDE. THE MORE YOU EXPRESS YOU THOUGHTS TO THEM FAR MORE CLEARLY AND NICELY AND EVEN POLITE THEY WILL NOTE IT DOWN. DO IT RUDE THEY WON'T GIVE A SINGLE TOSS ABOUT YOUR THOUGHTS.

Also yes I was rude in the last chapter about these coins because one, they didn't have ANY information about it other than you have to PAY for books and two, because it really did sound like a stupid idea. I'm the type to come out and say what I think.

Now then, most people who joined the discord server will know that I contacted wattpad HQ on their account. They updated their update/news book about the wattcoins becoming more of a thing and allowing more writers to try the beta out for themselves when/if they want to. I placed a comment on their book expressing how I believed a donation based coins would work far better than paying for books.

Everyone who has PMed me, commented on here and even commented on message boards have agreed this what THEY wanted not to PAY PER CHAPTER for a book. They wanted a donation button to give writers something small like one coin which seems to be like

1 WattCoin = 1 Dollar.

Hell people have been writing posts in books and their message boards about this too. (I am very thankful I was tagged in many of these posts, please keep tagging me so I can help explain the coins to others who still struggle to understand).

Now only half an hour ago when I uploaded my account message board stating this chapter was due out, Wattpad HQ replied to my comment about my thoughts of a donation-based system and how it would be better. Since everyone who's talked to me, tagged me and talked about this themselves have all agreed WE ASKED FOR DONATION BUTTON because it would be fairer to both the writers and the readers' sides of the community.

Like seriously I've not talked to ONE person who has admitted that they asked wattpad if they can PAY to read people's books by per chapter/or pay a higher price for the whole book.

Well, they finally got back saying this:

Now I can't help but be VERY thankful for @Wattpad for getting back to me so fast. Like hell, I didn't think they were going to get back to me with how many people SPAMMING their comment section like crazy. Like, THANK YOU wattpad for spending a minute or so replying back to me with this information.

Also to the people who think SPAMMING them about 4-5 times with different statements that don't even go together and/or rude really need to feel ashamed. Like yes, we are not all 100% happy or sure about this beta update but at the same time, we need to remember wattpad have to pay money to keep their online site/servers running. To make sure it can let so many of us people use wattpad at once, at the same time across the world.

That is why I support them by paying for the premium membership. (I did web design and even learnt about running website based things like wattpad at college last year). Trust me when I say this, it costs a lot more than you think to keep a server running ACROSS the WORLD with THOUSANDS of PEOPLE on it AT THE SAME TIME.

Yes, wattpad needs money but THEY do really NEED it to keep this site damn well running smoothly as it can. So stop damn well complaining when comes to ads, membership to remove said ads. Those two things alone are common on ALL sites. It's understandable and that alone I can get behind and support.

The coins however...at first I was up for them. Back then we didn't know much about said coins. They just showed the hell up one day but the site which the link takes you too about the coins, explaining them is not very well written in many ways.

One:
Don't give enough information, BARLEY any information honestly. It took me five times to reread the whole site on both readers and writers sides so ten times altogether to understand the basics of what they were trying to explain. Hell, I'm an adult and well I ended up struggling. I know EVERYONE else who've I talked too didn't understand until I explained in the past chapter and on my message board.

Two:
Information given makes it sound one-sided. Everyone knows wattpad is a community-based website. It was first started off that way and until this day it's become something very big to many of us. Hell people are getting published, movies, tv shows and Netflix contracts which is AMAZING. Those contracts would've never happened without wattpad's support which is really awesome but we all know there are two mayor community sides to this site. Readers & Writers. The information and how it's stated sounds very one-sided on the WRITERS side more than readers.
It doesn't help over 70% of wattpad readers are still very young and by LAW, CANNOT get jobs. Even if some who are 16-17 do have jobs by LAW once again they don't get paid very well. BARELY any income after bills, taxes, food shopping comes along. With the information given it only tells us how readers MUST now buy either the WHOLE BOOK or PER CHAPTER of said book to even read it. Writers get to control how many coins the book/chapters will cost.
Sounds very one-sided, doesn't it?

Three:
NOT WHAT WE ASKED FOR! I for one can admit I have stated I wanted to support certain writers with a donation button on wattpad many times since I joined in 2014. Many people have done still to this day. Problem is with the information given it's not what we asked for AT ALL. What the information says is what WRITERS with OVER 8K FOLLOWERS have asked for. Hell, even some people with 2k upwards have even asked.
Again everyone like legit everyone I have talked too, even random people who didn't even know my account was even a thing have agreed to this fact. Donation Button would be far better for a fair community response than this.

These three reasons alone are the main reason people are getting upset and even getting ready to move to a new site. Thankfully wattpad ARE community-based. They answer the questions and worries we have if we are POLITE AND KIND in asking them. With the reply, wattpad gave me THERE IS A DONATION BUTTON.

FINALLY, now that this has been said, we can see wattpad do care about both sides of the coin. Writers & Readers. What we asked for has been added but what very popular writers have asked for also have been added. With that, I can get used to the idea of wattcoins. Don't mean I'm going to pay for peoples books. I'm disabled and medically unable to work. I barely get money to pay the damn bills as it is.

With this information, we can now be reassured that wattpad still ARE caring about both sides of the community it hosts but there is something that worries me, even gives me fear for the future of wattpad.

Writers.

The writers alone control a very powerful power about the coins and the books on wattpad. We also know MANY people's true colours will come out. If they put a very cheap amount of coins on their books, they are still nice people but if they ask for WAY too much...well that's true colours for you.

Wattpad hasn't explained if there are limits or rules about these coins. Like what? How can you give people something very POWERFUL that can AFFECT the future of your company/site without putting in rules/limits. Like seriously? Please wattpad stop holding back information from us already. We are all worried about all this enough. Many of us have been ready to even leave because of this.

There is one major thing that worries me the most. Copyright-based problems, aka FANFICTION WRITERS. People like me. (I do plan to write my very own book ideas soon though).

People who write fanfictions SHOULDN'T BE ALLOWED to put the coins on their fanfictions AT ALL. THE END. NO QUESTION. I know many are gonna be salty and want it but why? The characters, world, universe, lore and many things ARE NOT OURS. We used SOMEONE ELSE'S STUFF. If WE get paid for doing that, wattpad will get SHUT DOWN. It's HAPPEN BEFORE to other sites MANY TIMES.

Fairy Tail for example.

We did not create Natsu Dragneel, Erza Scarlet, Juvia, Levy, Gajeel, Rogue, Sting, Zeref, Mavis or ANY of the characters. HIRO MASHIMA DID. The only reason we can write fanfictions BY LAW without getting ourselves SUED and wattpad SUED is because we DON'T get any money for these books. If we fanfiction writers start using the coins on our fanfiction books it won't just be wattpad that gets in trouble and shut down. WE WILL.

We will be taken to court. We will get fined or put in PRISON. It has HAPPENED BEFORE.

Because of this problem alone, I've emailed wattpad personally and replied to the comment they answered back once more. I pray they can answer this worry or it at least makes them start thinking about rules/limits they put on these coins.

Unless writers are careful this could either damage wattpad so badly it will be shut down or helped build the community to be even closer than before.

Sadly without any RULES or LIMITS, I don't see this ending well for wattpad in general. The coins shouldn't be used on fanfictions, even if we DO MAKE/ADD OWN OWN CHARACTERS. We still SHOULDN'T BE ALLOWED TO USE COINS/PLACE A PRICE. Even if you made your own damn characters you still are not the owner of everything. The main plot, world, some characters even the universe, names of things etc are owned by the ORIGINAL creator who you don't have permission off to allow you to do this.

Hell unless you know Hiro Mashima personally and ask him an email/letter/pms where you can have screenshotted/picture proof with him also confirming it when POLICE/LAWYERS ask him, you won't have his permission to use and abuse his creations to make money for your own pocket. No matter how much you need money, that is wrong to do.

For now, this is all the information (and the last chapter) we have about the coins to this date. IF ANYONE else has ANY information about these coins please let me and others know because the fact there isn't any BASIC information about these coins such as rules/limits, this doesn't look very good.
