Promises [Nagito Komaeda]

(Sorry I literally went off the radar on Wattpad. It's been a crazy week!)

[Finally got my first request!]

Requested by: FanficTrash2001

Y/N's POV

I stared out into the ocean. My face was lit up by the moonlight which shone above me. It outlined my silhouette nicely.

Why was I out so late? Well, I was thinking the same thing.

It was about Nagito Komaeda, the person who I took a liking to. Sure, everyone on the island completely hated him, but all he needed was a little love. Plus, I didn't know what to do... I was from the Future Foundation.

Despite being hope-crazy, he was actually a cool guy. Well, he always interfered with the class trials, but it wasn't a problem as long as we caught who the blackened was.

I remember the last class trial as if it were yesterday.

-Flashback-

"Was it the camera angle?"

Hinata looked over at Mikan who was drowning in despair, hugging herself.

Slowly, his mouth opened. "I never said anything about the camera angle."

All at once, Mikan stopped. She let go of herself and looked at Hinata straight in the eye.

"This is game over for you, Mikan." I said nonchalantly.

Her head then turned to my direction, a large grin on her face.

"Over?" Small giggles escaped her lips which grew and grew by the passing second. It soon turned into a full out cackle. "HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHHAHAHA! OVER?! HAHAHAHAHAHAH!"

"M-Mikan-san!" Sonia yelled.

"What's happening?" Soda asked, slightly panicked.

"Mikan! Why did you do it?!" I yelled at her.

The fits of laughter emitting from the purple-head stopped. "Why?" She laughed a bit again before uttering the last words of her thought. "It's for the one I loved! They accepted me! They forgave my existence!"

"Stop it, Mikan! You're delusional!" Nagito shouted.

Laughing again, she looked at him. "Is it because you have no one to love and no one to love you back?"

For a moment, I could see a look of hurt flash across his face.

Pity fell over me.

-Flashback End-

I buried my fingers through the white sand and felt it cool down my skin. Letting out a satisfied sigh, I continued to stare at the ocean waves crashing into my feet.

Everything was just so peaceful. My eyes slowly closed as I dozed off to the sound of the crashing waves.

"Hey, Y/N? Is that you?"

My eyes snapped open once I heard a voice.

'Shit! I'm not supposed to be out here!'

Quietly yet quickly, I ran back to the cottages, hiding behind Mikan's.

"Wait a second... Who are you?" The voice called out again.

I held my breathe when the footsteps started to come into my general direction.

'Oh shoot! It's Nagito!'

"Hello?~ Hope-crazy person coming through!" He hummed while walking towards me.

Having no other choice, I darted behind all the other cottages, making me easily seen.

"HEY!"

The footsteps behind me picked up pace as I ran through the darkness. The wind whipped in my face, and my hair flew behind me.

"Stop right there!" Nugget called out again. [I'm not even going to fix that autocorrect.]

My feet hurried over the boards and into my cottage. I roughly slammed the door shut, leaving Nagito clueless to which cottage I entered.

I heard a loud sigh from outside my door.

Catching my breath, I stumbled to my bed, hoping to get some sleep in, but before I could even do that, there was a knock at my door.

Groaning, I limped over to open it.

"Yes?"

"A-Ah... I'm sorry for disturbing your sleep, but can I ask you something?" He asked.

"You already did." I deadpanned. "Goodnight."

As the door was about to close, he used one hand to stop it.

My heart was racing at the sight of him. Sweat lined his forehead; his shirt was slightly up, revealing his stomach; and he was leaning against the door with the moonlight cast upon him.

"Okay, I get that trash like me doesn't deserve your attention, but please, I need to ask you something." He pleaded.

I rolled my eyes over the trash part.

"Come in." I welcomed, slightly exhausted from the run.

He walked in and sat on my bed, looking around the cottage with curious eyes.

"What?" I asked.

"Well... Was it you?" He asked.

"Come again?" I questioned out of shock.

'Well he did call my name at first.'

"Was it you out on the beach? The one I was chasing?"

A moment of hesitation went by.

Slowly, my head turned to break eye contact. "Yeah, it was me."

Nagito huffed a bit before smiling at me. "I thought so."

I slightly smiled back.

"Hey, Y/N..." He started. "Do you know who the traitor is among us?"

My blood went cold. [I literally wrote 'My ice went cold'.]

'He's... talking about me...'

"No, not really. I'll tell you if I find a lead." I muttered.

"Oh, don't worry. I have a way to expose the traitor. I'll do it first thing tomorrow." He assured.

I felt my heart drop.

'Is he going to...'

"N-Nagito! Let's not do anything irrational!" I stuttered.

"But if it's for the sake of hope, I'm doing it." He grinned at me... almost insanely.

"What..." I paused. "What are you going... to do?"

"Ah ah ah!" He shushed me. "That's a secret."

-The Next Day-

I saw Nagito heading into the factory, and my gut instinct told me to follow him.

I hid behind the machinery as I watched Nagito pull out a saw. He placed it above his arm while grinning insanely, but before he could do anything, I ran towards him and yelled.

"Nagito! Stop!"

He dropped the saw out of shock and watched me run closer to him.

"Y-Y/N?"

I wrapped my arms around his chest as the tears started to roll down my face.

"Wh-Why..?" I cried out.

He hesitantly rubbed my back soothingly. "I just wanted to expose the traitor..."

"If you want to know so bad..." I took a deep breath and stepped away from the white-haired boy.

"Y-Y-Y/N...?"

"I'm the traitor. I work for Future Foundation, and all of you are..." I stopped.

"What... are we?" He asked, curiosity overwhelming him.

"You guys are... Remnants of Despair."

Nagito's pupils dilated. "I'm... what?"

"Nagito..." I started.

"I'm... a Remnant of Despair...?" He started to laugh, but I threw my arms around him.

"Nagito... Please!" I cried.

"You... lied to me?!" He shouted. "YOU'RE WITH THE BAD GUYS! THIS MUST BE A LIE TOO.... RIGHT!?"

"NAGITO STOP!" I yelled at him.

His laughing died down, and tears spilled down his cheeks.

"Why...? I trusted you..." He asked while holding onto me tighter.

"I'm sorry... I know... I should probably die now..." I mumbled.

Nagito let me go and held my shoulders tightly. "No... I won't let you... I-"

"Please... just stop. I know I did something terribly wrong. I just want to let you know... I like you more than just a friend, Nagito. I have no more regrets. Just let me die here."

He shook his head. "Now that you confessed, I know the feeling was mutual." He smiled slightly.

"Wha-?"

"Even though you are the traitor, we'll both make it through... alive. I promise. We'll live together, get married, start a family, and grow old together."

I nodded as I looked up at him.

He leaned in, and I closed my eyes. Our lips connected.

He kept his promise.

Nugget WYD?! Oh well, hope you enjoyed!!
