Y/N's POV
We didn't talk face-to-face. It was mainly just him sending emails to me or just shooting a quick message over his social media. Of course, the main reason that we didn't text was that I rarely gave out my number to strangers, and I have never met this boy.
Yes, we went to the same school, but we didn't know each other personally. Despite that fact, the two of us seemed to form quite a connection. To be honest, I grew quite an interest in the boy.
We sent pictures of how we were doing and what we were up to, and based on his photos, he led a tightly monitored life. In every picture, lurking in the background, there was a butler.
What I found fascinating about him were his red eyes that glowed like rubies. It was quite an abnormal sight, but it only added to my interest in him.
His name was Izuru Kamukura.
Izuru, meaning "to go out into exile", and Kamukura meaning "a place in which a god resides". That meaning in itself only deepened my curiosity for him.
'I hope I can meet him soon.'
My phone buzzed, interrupting my train of thoughts. The very subject of my thinking had his name displayed on the screen.
KamuQueen: Have you taken your noon nap yet?
Y/N: Yup.
KamuQueen: Ah wonderful.
KamuQueen: I was wondering if you lived near me and if you'd like to meet up for the first time.
Y/N: lolwhut?
Y/N: That just sounds like a sad excuse to find my address and stalk me.
KamuQueen: Oh no. You caught me.
KamuQueen: What ever will I do?
Y/N: Your sarcasm always seems to amaze me.
KamuQueen: Why thank you.
Y/N: So back to the subject...
Y/N: You're basically asking me out on a date?
Y/N: Aww you're so bold, Izu-chan~~~ haha
KamuQueen:
KamuQueen: Was I seriously that easy to read?
Y/N: AHHHHHH
Y/N: WHERE DID YOU GET THAT STICKER??
Y/N: I WANT ONE TOOOO ;^;
Y/N: It reminds me so much of a certain app... T-T
KamuQueen: Why focus on the sticker when you're talking to the real thing?
Y/N: HOLY SHIT THAT WAS SMOOTH AF--
KamuQueen: Anyways, I live around Jabberwock St. next to the Starbucks.
Y/N: WHAT
Y/N: DUDE I GO THERE AT LEAST TWICE A WEEK WTF(*'◒'*)
KamuQueen: Ah, then that's perfect. Do you want to meet there today?
KamuQueen: I'll finally be able to see your lovely face in person.(╹◡╹)
Y/N: Gimme the creator of that sticker and then we'll talk :)
Y/N: Becuz like I seriously want one of myself
Y/N: And Kokichi--
KamuQueen: Who's Kokichi?
Y/N: Someone~
Y/N: And sure! I'd like to meet
Y/N: What time?
KamuQueen: How about at six?
Y/N: Oof I'll be there :^P
I left the messenger app and went to the Camera, laying back down on my bed as I did so. Preparing myself for my daily mental scarring, I turned the camera around so that my face appeared on the screen.
'This'll have to do...'
I smiled brightly, my hair sprawled around me and my eyes practically closed which emphasized my joy. Quickly, the photo was taken, and I viewed it in the gallery.
For once, it wasn't so bad.
I went into the Monochrome Bear app and updated my status, saying "Super excited for tonight!"
Right after I had posted the update, I had gotten a like. Not surprisingly, it was the boy who I had just talked to previously. However, he did leave a comment on my post. Moments later, other comments flooded the box.
KamuQueen: Yes, very excited, Y/N :)
LickMyDick: THEY GONNA FUUU
CockyChi69: You remembered it was my bday!! I can't wait to prank with you! ('∀`)
'Shit! It's Kokichi's birthday today!'
"FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCKITY FUCK FUCK!" I screamed, pulling at my hair.
I had known him ever since we were in in kindergarten. How could I forget my own best friend's birthday?
I... had to cancel with Izuru.
Y/N: Hey Izu...
KamuQueen: Hm? Is something wrong?
KamuQueen: Oh, I also got the creator of that sticker to email it to Kokichi. Yours will be next.
Y/N: Ah, it's for his birthday present?
KamuQueen: Correct.
Y/N: Listen... about Kokichi...
Y/N: We actually go back a while... and I have to be there for him at his party.
Y/N: Usually, many people don't show up, so I'm all he has...
KamuQueen: And..?
Y/N: I'm going to have to cancel the plans for this evening.
Y/N: Sorry. Maybe another time?
Read at 3:27 PM
He left me on read...
I huffed out and went over to Kokichi's chat box. You don't just leave someone on read and expect to get away with it, do you?
Y/N: KOKICHIIII
Y/N: NOTICE ME SENPAIII
Y/N: PLSS BEFORE MY PANTSU GETS WETSU
CockyChi69: Wow you always come up with the funniest ways to say hello
CockyChi69: What's up? :^)
Y/N: HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I DON'T HATE YOU AS MUCH AS I HATE OTHER PEOPLE!
Y/N: YAY
CockyChi69: Awww!~ Thanks Y/N!
CockyChi69:
Y/N: AHHH ITS TOO CUTE FOR ME
CockyChi69: Nishishi~ Thanks~
CockyChi69: So are you up for the arcade tonight?
Y/N: Of course! I cleared my schedule just to spend this day with you
CockyChi69: Awww Y/N-channnnnn~~~~
CockyChi69: You're so sweet :))
CockyChi69: I'll be there at seven! Love ya sis!
Y/N: Luv ya bruh :)
I switched off my phone, the smile on my face never fading. What great deed have I done to deserve a friend like this? I wonder that every day.
That sticker was cute, too.
My eyes slowly drifted to look at the money I had been saving up for a while. All in all, I managed to save up to seven hundred thirty-five dollars. Surely, it's be enough to afford at least something decent.
I changed into my summer clothes which was basically shorts, a grey T-shirt, and a red and black flannel shirt tied around my waist. I grabbed my mini backpack (since I was too immature for a purse) and slipped on my sneakers.
It was a tradition to go to an arcade every time Kokichi's birthday rolled around. Then, we would just go around the city and prank some unsuspecting civilians. To call it "fun" would be a huge understatement.
As I walked around the town with a grin on my face, I window-shopped for what could potentially be a good present. Usually, I gave him gag gifts or gift cards, but I wanted to make today more meaningful since I literally almost forgot his birthday.
That's when I saw a store stocked up on things used to prank. From silly string to whoopee cushions, the store had it all. My eyes practically gleamed as I looked through the window.
Without another moment, I headed into the store, already getting the money out of my backpack.
***
"I spent over three hundred dollars..." I mumbled, staring at the two large bags in my hands. "WORTH IT!" I laughed to myself.
A couple of concerned people stared at me before continuing on with their day.
Tired at the heaviness of the bags, I sat down on a park bench to realize that I had gotten a message. My phone buzzed to life as Monokuma saying "You have one new message!" sounded throughout the silent park.
It was from Ouma.
CockyChi69: Come to my house in ten minutes. Don't be late.
I stared at the message, confused at his serious tone. Was this another one of his pranks? Was he just getting a head start on me?
Y/N: Are you okay? You're not like yourself.
CockyChi69: Just move your little legs over to my place. You should know where it is, yes?
CockyChi69: There is a surprise waiting for you here.
An uneasy feeling arose in my gut. This... didn't sound like Kokichi at all... He barely even used periods when he's texting. Heck, he doesn't even do it while writing essays for class.
I got up from the bench, hesitantly traveling down the sidewalk as Kokichi's house wasn't far from this area. Many people passed by, boisterous cheers and laughter ringing through the summer air. None of them seemed as tense as I was.
Heaving those two bags and my backpack, I trudged all the way to Ouma's house. I was beyond tired by the time I reached the doormat.
I knocked on the door to find that I had accidentally pushed it open. My eyes widened as horror grasped me.
I dropped my bags next to the welcome mat and stepped in, the smell of something metallic hitting my nostrils. My phone was clutched tightly in my hand in case a call needed to be placed to 911.
The reason why I hadn't called yet was because Ouma had pulled the same prank a few years prior. I did call the police, and he got in a lot of trouble for pulling a stunt like that. To see him do it again... was strange.
It was as if he was asking to get in trouble.
"Kokichi! This isn't funny!" I called out, cautiously stepping over the puddles of neon pink liquid on the ground.
My eyes scanned the area, and in the middle of his living room, was a figure curled up in a ball. I recognized that violet hair anywhere. Worried, I called out once again.
"Hey... I'm scared, okay? So... you can stop playing dead now..."
I got closer and used my hand to brush the bangs away from his face. A gasp escaped my lips as soon as I saw his lifeless eyes staring forward. His pale hand was eternally clutching a knife that had been plunged into his chest.
"He's not playing."
Upon hearing the voice, I jumped and turned around. My eyes widened once I saw him...
"What the fuck, Izuru?!" I screamed, pointing a finger at him. "Please don't tell me that you actually..."
"What else am I supposed to say?" He shrugged, his red eyes emitting an ominous glint. "He was getting in the way of us. I don't need any interferences."
"HE WASN'T GETTING IN THE WAY!" I cried, tears now pouring from my eyes. "I told you... he's my best friend! IT'S COMPLETELY PLATONIC!"
Izuru broke eye contact for a bit. "Still, anything can happen. I can't afford to lose you."
My breathing accelerated, my adrenaline racing. "Why am I so fucking important to you?! We barely have ever met!"
"You're... the only one who cares about my existence." He headed closer, holding a large butcher knife in his hand. "And I'm going to make sure it stays that way. I love you, Y/N."
"NO!" I screamed, backing up and staring at him with my fearful eyes. "STOP IT!"
As he got closer, I could see a subtle yet sadistic smile on his face. His hand brushed against my cheek, and instinctively, I kneed him in the crotch.
Immediately, he doubled over, holding onto his future children as I ran up the flight of stairs.
I knew Ouma's house like the back of my hand. There was a better chance of me surviving if I went into Kokichi's room.
It was just how I had remembered it. All the times we had played in here as children up to just a few weeks ago, but that was all over now. I headed into his bathroom which was connected to his room. There was a closet in there, but it was a bit hidden.
I had locked the door to the bathroom and the room, hoping that it would provide enough time for me to all emergency services.
I closed the closet door, looking through the slits. I dialed 911 and told the operator my situation and address quite calmly. The dispatcher said that officers were on their way.
As soon as I got off the call, I heard a loud crash.
'He kicked down Ouma's door...'
"Y/N, don't you know it's impolite to ignore your guests?"
I flinched, slowly my breathing down as to not create sound. Only a few moments later did I hear the bathroom door getting kicked open, too.
Silent tears streamed down my cheeks. It'd be all over if he got to me. I just hoped that this closet was hidden enough and that the police would arrive quick enough.
His footsteps torturously echoed on the bathroom tiles as he walked around. Relief flooded over me once I heard his footsteps start to fade away, signaling that he was walking in the other direction. My relief was short-lived as that familiar sound echoed throughout the room.
"You have one new message!"
WOOO ANOTHER ONE DONE!! Okay, so of you in the states are probably wondering why I'm updating at the wee hours of the night. As I said before, I'm in Vietnam! Yay! There are more requests that I'm working on, so don't fret! I love having alone time so that I can do this and other things that I can't really do in the states, so I'm enjoying my time here :)
If you like the chapter, please vote instead of requesting since you know, they're kinda closed. Just kinda.
Next up is Kiibo :)
