Little Game [Izuru Kamukura] (AU)

Requested by: @Lucreant

"He held the key to my heart, but my key was broken to him."

Y/N's POV

I licked my lips, staring at the chess board. Strategies and formulas started sprouting inside my mind. On the other side of the table sat Izuru Kamukura, the man that held all the talents one could possibly hope to possess.

Chess, in this universe, was quite different.

My pieces and his were actual people. My king was robed in vanilla satin with white pants and a button-up shirt. His hair was combed back and was a platinum blonde with a crown perched atop his head.

The players sat on chairs high up from the ground, and it was mid-game. Izuru had cornered me after taking out one of my bishops and my two rooks.

"Your move, L/N-san." He said calmly, staring at the giant chess board with uncaring eyes.

On my iPad, it displayed the chessboard and the pieces still involved in the game. I shakily dragged my finger on the screen, moving the knight in an L-shaped formation on the board, knocking his bishop off.

He smirked before tapping on the screen in front of him. I looked at the ground, seeing his rook moving horizontally, eliminating my knight.

I, also, had a smirk on my face. Hurriedly, I moved my queen diagonally, taking out his rook and checkmating him at the same time.

The thing was, if he moved his king diagonally any way, my pawns could take him out. His king was still on the edge of the board, so he couldn't move back.

If he went straight forward, my last bishop could take him out, and if he went left, my other pawn could take him out.

If he went right, my knight could take him out.

'It's a true checkmate!'

He stared at the board, his expression hard to read. Finally, I felt him breathe out.

"You cheated."

I blinked.

"How could you say that?!" I shrieked, pointing a finger at him. "I didn't cheat! Don't be a sore loser!"

His gaze left me as he looked back down at his iPad, making his king move forward. Happily, I dragged the bishop on my screen, knocking out the king.

"I win." I stated, a smile on my face.

Izuru, on the other hand, was not so happy. Quickly, the game dome around us evaporated, and we were back to our regular high school. The small teal sphere with the words "GAME DOME" printed in bold letters on the front sat on the table.

We had just come back from virtual reality.

"Izuru! I beat you at something!" I cheered, smiling brightly.

He simply rolled his eyes and stuffed his hands in his pockets, walking out from the game room on campus. "It was obviously pure luck."

"Luck?" I asked, my mind immediately jumping to the white-haired male. "Don't you possess luck, too?"

He turned around, and I felt his aura pierce me through. "We don't talk about that, L/N-san."

At this point, I knew... he was really butthurt.

"H-Hey! Izuru, don't feel bad! I'm the Ultimate Tactician! Strategy is my forte!" I grinned, hoping he knew that I was being genuine.

He huffed out before starting to walk away again, leaving me in the dust.

"Izuru..." I mumbled, staring sadly at the receding male. A hand rested on my shoulder, scaring me as I turned around abruptly.

"It's fine, Y/N. Izuru just never really lost to anyone... I think..." Chiaki smiled assuringly.

I nodded my head in understanding. "Yeah... I'm just going to go and talk to Fuyuhiko." [What I meant was Ouma--]

"Your ex? Are you sure that's a good idea?"

"Yeah... we're still friends, right?"

Chiaki looked at me unsure. "I don't know."

Before I could respond, I saw the short Yakuza walking in the halls, a cigarette in-between his index and middle finger.

"Oh, there he is! Got to go! See you later, Chiaki!" I smiled before running off. "KUZURYUU!!!"

"What the fu-- Oh it's just you."

I chuckled before managing to slip out, "Good to see you, too!"

He smiling slightly before his eyes glanced to my arms that were lined with cuts and bruises. In the corner of my eye, I saw him bite his lip. "Still have those?" He asked bitterly.

"Abusive relationships are supposed to be abusive..." I mumbled quietly, trying to sustain that smile on my face.

Fuyuhiko stood there, awkwardly trying to lose my gaze. "Listen... it was the gang. They didn't accept you, so of course I had to fucking fit in. Can I have one more fucking chance?"

'No.'

"I'm sorry, Kuzuryuu, but I don't think I can because--"

"She's with me."

Surprised, I turned around and found Izuru staring down Fuyuhiko, a malicious intent swirling in his vermillion eyes.

"O-Oh... Sorry. I didn't know." Fuyuhiko responded, backing away slowly. "I-I'll fucking go find Peko, then..."

Soon, when he was out of earshot, I heard Kamukura's footsteps echoing away. Before he could leave, however, I grabbed his hand, holding him back. Him being, well, him, tried to shake my grasp off, but to no avail.

"What do you need, L/N-san?" He asked, his voice flowing smoothly like honey. "I have to go. I have class."

"Why did you do that? I could've handled it on my own." I retorted, my cheeks getting rosier from the previous statement the valedictorian had said just a few seconds prior.

"You might've said yes. I was just simply saving you from making another horrible choice in men."

I scoffed a bit before rolling my eyes. "I do not make horrible choices in men."

"Believe what you want, L/N-san, but everything comes down to the truth." He said nonchalantly, making me a bit more irritated. "Rather, it'd be more fitting if you had chosen someone with a bit more intelligence and manners."

"Oh?" I questioned, a bit of cockiness present in my voice. "So what you're saying is... it has to be someone like you?"

"Precisely." He said shortly. "It wouldn't be at all bad if you had chosen me over Kuzuryuu-san."

I did a take-back, making sure I wasn't hearing things. Soon, my face heated up to the tips of my ears. "D-Did you just say..."

"Yes. Now if you excuse me, I must leave for honors biology." As he turned around, his black hair swished, fanning my face a bit to cool off the heat.

'Did he just... confess..? Indirectly..?'

I looked back to my schedule, my face frowning a bit. "I only have history with him in two periods..." I mumbled to myself. "Hmm..."

I started walking forwards and onto my next class: Physical Education. In this scenario, however, it was physical hell. PH for short.

The exercises were absolutely hell and torture. Our cardio would last up to twenty minutes, and we spent the last twenty-five minutes of class doing difficult exercises. Between all the sweat and tears, I still had to trudge through it with a smile.

'Smile through the pain, I guess...'

As the clock ticked away, I headed into the locker room and changed into my PE uniform which was just red shorts with white streaks that barely ended above my thigh and a white baggy shirt with red borders along the holes. I tied my hair up into a high pony [or left it] and started walking towards the gymnasium.

Just as I opened the door, I saw Izuru walking down the hall, holding his textbook and notebook and reading over something.

"Oh, Kamukura!" The coach called from the other end of the hall.

Izuru looked up, slightly disinterested. "Yes, ma'am?"

"I just got word that biology was canceled because Mr. Gokuhara got sick, so the principal is merging that class with PE today. Go get changed!" Coach Asahina smiled.

The boy stood there a bit before nodding and heading into the locker rooms to get changed.

"Y/N, come into the gym. Don't want to be late!" She smiled, taking a bite out of her donut.

I nodded and headed inside, the familiar scent of sweat hitting my nostrils.

"Lovely..." I muttered under my breath.

The door swung open, and Coach Asahina walked in. "Hey, Gals and Guys! Get into position! We're playing dodgeball." In her other hand that wasn't holding the pastry, a single terra cotta-colored ball sat on her palm.

Everyone groaned, and I saw Izuru walk through the door, his hair tied into a low ponytail. As soon as our eyes met, he rolled his and started walking to the opposite side of the gym.

"Rude much?" I mumbled.

A few students set the balls in the middle line, and soon, the whistle sounded, and shoes started padding across the gym floor.

Some students were able to get the ball while others were being pelted.

To top it off, it was Boys vs Girls.

'Lucky me...'

Soon, the other boys and girls dropped like flies. It was just me and Chiaki against Izuru.

"Oh, two more flies." He commented, his eyes slightly drooping from lack of sleep.

A ball hurled towards Chiaki, but she couldn't dodge in time.

It was just me and him left.

In my hand was the ball, but I was frozen on the spot. Izuru saw this as an opportunity to grab another ball on the side.

"THROW IT!"

Frightened, I threw the ball, and it bounced on the wall. A scoff resounded from Izuru as he started holding the ball into position.

As I looked around, I saw that there were no more balls on my side. Just then, Izuru was pushed forwards a little.

'The ball hit him!'

"OUT!" Asahina yelled, blowing the whistle.

"Huh? But that hit the wall; therefore it does not count!" Izuru tried to reason.

"Mmm... Yes it does." Coach argued back, smiling a bit. "The girls won! Go and shower!"

I groaned once again and grabbed my gym bag, pushing the door open. Before I could reach the locker room, a certain someone stopped me.

"Kamukura? What do you need?"

"How do you keep on winning?" He asked, his face completely serious.

"Huh?" I asked, not sure on what he meant.

"You beat me." He stated simply.

"Yeah.... I guess it was just pure luck or something. I have to take a shower, so--"

"Not so fast." He interrupted. "Do you remember the topic we mentioned earlier?"

"Uh..." My mind traveled back a bit, and soon, a crimson blush started to creep up onto my cheeks. "Y-Yeah... and..?"

"I'd like to make a little challenge." Izuru said, a small yet almost invisible smile tugging at his lips.

"A... Challenge..?"

"Since you have beaten me in two subjects, I shall beat you in the last one. My love held for you is too strong for you to counter."

The blush grew.

'Woah... That was smooth as fuck.'

"W-Wait... what you're saying is..." I trailed off.

"I want us to play a little game. See who can prove their love for one another the most. Surely I'm going to win." He said cockily.

"Pft. As if!" I scoffed, grabbing his collar down so that he was my height. "So when does it begin?"

He smirked, and his face connected the empty space between us. Our lips mashed against each other in perfect sync, and I could feel his passion through the kiss.

We pulled away, and his reply made me smirk myself.

"Now."

I chuckled a bit before responding to the boy I had absentmindedly grew to love. "Let the games begin!"

Ugh! FORGIVE ME! I know, it's kinda rushed, but cut me some slack. I just finished two projects in five hours. I hate my life. Anyways, hope you enjoyed! I'll be closing requests as soon as three more requests are submitted, so hurry before it's too late! Thanks for reading!
