Her Fairytale Ending [Nagito Komaeda] (AU)

Heyyy... Guess who was gone for a few months without an explanation?

ME

Anyways, I'm sorry for the wait :) Make sure to read the A/N at the bottom! This is probably the longest chapter to date... ha...

Well, I hope you enjoy!

Y/N's POV

"I found a handsome, young man for you to marry, honey."

"Yes, he is also very wealthy, and he seems to be a very dedicated business man."

I stared at my parents grinning widely at me. An arranged marriage seemed really unnecessary, but it's a tradition passed down in my family for generations.

"So, what do you say?" My mother asked, clasping her hands together excitedly.

Being at the lowest point in my life, I let out a heavy sigh.

'There's really nothing to lose.'

"Fine. When will I meet him?"

"Ah! Yes!" My mother cheered happily.

"He should be here shortly." My father answered, sipping from his earl grey tea. "I've heard wonderful things from his family."

I nodded, holding my hands together tightly. They were clammy and sweaty from the nerves that I had built up.

'Did I make the right choice?'

Suddenly, my phone flashed, signaling a new text message. I turned my phone over and read the name on top.

'Nagito...'

I unlocked it, and I read over the text.

Nagito: Hey Y/N :) Wanna hang out today?

Y/N: Sorry I can't today

Nagito: Awhhh... why not??

Nagito: You've been shutting yourself out more often :((

Nagito: Are you ok?

'Other than being broke and homeless at age 23, single as a Pringle for five years, and jobless since I didn't get to graduate college, my life is fine.'

Y/N: I'm fine. Don't worry.

Nagito: :/

Nagito: I'm coming over

Nagito: Just you wait--

Y/N: NO

Delivered

My text was left unread.

I shook my head in disappointment. What if he bumped into my future fiancée? Scratch that. He will bump into him, and I haven't even met him yet.

Now, my nerves were off of the charts.

My best friend for the past sixteen years of my life meeting someone who I am bound to marry. To add onto that, I've never even seen his face or know his name.

This is going to be a bloodbath. I can feel it.

I leaned my head backwards, feeling exhausted. The only reason my parents called me over into their rich house was to have me wed a wealthy man, yet they had kicked me out onto the streets ever since I dropped out of college. At least they had the generosity to gift to me this phone... for my twentieth birthday...

When I was little, I never thought my life would've taken a turn this bad.

Nagito always wanted to be a physician. He was still studying in college, and he was excelling all of his classes.

It was sad to see what I had become compared to him.

Just as I was about to leave the room, I heard a knock at my door.

My mother rushed over, smoothing her skirt over. "It must be him." She smiled.

When she opened the door, standing there was a man with long black hair which was bunched up into a ponytail. His red eyes seemed a bit unnatural, and his lips were tightly pressed together into a straight line.

"Good morning, Mrs. and Mr. L/N." He greeted, bowing politely. "I am glad that you have considered me to be a candidate for your daughter's hand in marriage."

"Well, you seem like a fair young man." Mother smiled. "If only I had landed someone like you when I was Y/N's age."

My father sent my mother a quick glare before regaining his composure. "I assure you our daughter would love to meet you. Y/N, be a dear and step out."

Exhaling, I got up from the couch and walked over to the man. His eyes traveled up and down my body as if examining me.

"She seems quite thin. Are you, perhaps, starving yourself?" He asked.

"O-Of course not!" My mother answered for me. "We feed her well! She just has an outstanding metabolism."

'I am starving...'

As if my body wanted to join in and contradict my mother's false claim, my stomach rumbled loudly.

My face instantly turned a shade of vermillion. "E-Excuse me..." I bowed, apologizing.

"No, it is fine. Now I know you need to be fed more."

I nodded meekly. "I never quite got your name." I mumbled.

He seemed a bit shocked that my parents never revealed anything. "Haven't your parents told you about this arrangement yet?"

"Y-Yes, just now actually."

"Just now?" His eyes turned coldly towards my parents. "She was not informed in advance?"

"Well, you see," my father defended. "She never visits home often, and she never answers her phone. We just caught her at a good time."

'Liars.'

"Why don't you come in and make yourself comfortable?" My mother suggested.

"Ah, thank you." As he stepped in, he turned towards me. "My name is Izuru Kamukura. Nice to meet you, Y/N L/N."

"As the same with me..." I muttered halfheartedly.

We sat next to each other on the white leather couch, and my mom brought out a platter with snacks and tea.

My mouth practically watered looking at all of the food. When I reached out for one, my mother slapped my hand away.

"We treat our guests first."

I pursed my lips, waiting for Izuru to take something. "It's fine, Mrs. L/N. I only came here to talk."

As my mother took the platter away, I felt my hunger increase tenfold.

"I am going to make this very curt because I must be going. I will give your daughter my contact information in case she needs to reach me."

He pulled out a small card with his company printed on the front. On the back, he had written his phone number in blue ink pen.

Before he had a chance to speak further, a knock came at the door.

My parents looked at each other in confusion.

"Who might that be?" Izuru asked.

'Nagito, you didn't...'

My mother once again got up and answered the door, her face showing a bit of shock when her eyes landed on Nagito.

"Oh, Komaeda, what are you doing here?" She asked.

Nagito wore a plain white shirt with an unzipped, gray, sleeveless hoodie. He wore black skinny jeans which were slightly ripped, and his white high top sneakers poked out from underneath the fabric. To top it off, his hair was tied in a low, messy ponytail.

"I came here to pick Y/N up." He smiled politely. "May I come in?"

"Actually--"

Before my mother could stop him, Nagito already had welcomed himself into the house. His smile faded once he saw Izuru sitting beside me.

"Oh, who's this?" He asked, looking towards my direction.

"Izuru Kamukura, twenty five years old. Nice to meet you." Izuru spoke before I could, holding his hand out to Nagito.

"Uh, Nagito Komaeda... twenty four years old..? Nice to meet you, too." Awkwardly, he shook Izuru's hand. "So what is he doing in your parents' house?"

"Right, I have business to do." Izuru seemed to catch his train of thought.

Slowly, he pulled out a small black box and opened it.

A ring sat within the cream satin, and it sparkled underneath the chandelier's light. The diamond was cut perfectly, and the gold band connecting it mesmerized me.

I looked up to Izuru who was busy taking the ring out of the box.

"Give me your left hand, Y/N."

Speechless and shocked, my hand seemed to move on its own. Before I could even realize it, the ring was on my fourth finger, a perfect fit.

"I must be going now. We shall plan our wedding later, my future bride. Although, I must say that it will have to be soon, no later than four days from today." With that, Izuru walked sophisticatedly out of the mansion.

I stood there, staring at the ring on my hand. Regret seemed to wash over me. As a last attempt to escape reality, I took the ring off and set it on the coffee table.

My eyes then looked up to see Nagito looking away, biting his bottom lip. His hands were stuffed in his pockets, and I could see that he was extremely conflicted.

Finally, he spoke up.

"Y/N, why did you--"

"I'm sorry." I interrupted, feeling tears well up in my eyes. "Mom, Dad, can you leave for a second?"

My parents nodded and headed upstairs while I collapsed on the couch. All of these feelings overwhelmed me. What had I gotten myself into?

Nagito sat beside me, allowing me to rest my head on his shoulder. My tears wet his hoodie.

"I made the wrong choice, didn't I?" I murmured, my voice shaky. "I shouldn't have agreed to his proposal..."

He sighed, wrapping his arm around my shoulder to hold me closer to him. His hand finally rested on my head, and he buried his face into my hair.

"Let it all out, Y/N..." He said quietly. "Let it all out."

As if those words were magic, I let the waterworks flow. I was sobbing, and I couldn't figure out what to do next once this sadness ended.

Apparently, this arranged marriage was supposed to make my life easier, but all it had given me was grief and sadness. Marrying a stranger was such an absurd idea. It felt like it was just another work of fiction.

My nails curled around his shirt, and I squeezed so hard that the marks transferred over onto my palm.

"Na-Nagito..." I stammered, trying to fight against my emotions. "P-Please stay by me..."

His hands caressed my head, soothing me into serenity. I felt him kiss the crown of my head as I gently wept.

Suddenly, he pulled me away so that I was looking at him with my tear-filled eyes. He held my shoulders firmly, and his entire upper body turned to look in my direction.

Slowly, his hands fell from my shoulders and inched towards my face. He used his thumb to wipe away the tears and tear streaks that were on my face.

Nagito's mouth slowly curled into a pitiful smile. "Y/N, I know you're going through a rough patch in life, but please don't give up... I'm... I'm always here for you."

I nodded, not sure what else I could possibly do. "Thank you..."

We sat next to each other awkwardly in silence. I could still feel his touch linger on my face and arms.

"I'm going to leave now. My parents probably wouldn't want me to stick around here long." I laughed bitterly. Reluctantly, I got up from the couch.

"Are you going to your home?" He asked, following my lead.

"Y-Yeah...." I replied, scratching the back of my neck nervously.

A certain look flashed across his face, signaling that he had his doubts about my previous statement. "Do you need a ride?"

"No... I'm fine." I plastered a smile on my face. "I can just walk."

Nagito stared at me for a few more seconds before he started to speed-walk towards me.

"Nagito, what are you doing?"

His hand clasped around my thin wrist, and he dragged me out of the house like a rag doll. I could only follow him, confused. My eyes landed on his car that seemed to be modeled and designed by a professional.

We reached the passenger side door, and he opened it for me. I stared at him, my eyes seeming to give away from confusion.

"Wha..?"

Nagito exhaled, biting on his bottom lip, a trait he does when he's nervous.

"You asked me not to leave you, Y/N. I'm going to have to go against your wishes. I know that you don't have a house. You usually clench your right fist a little when you're lying."

My breath seemed to be caught in my throat. Nothing could get by him...

"Well, then what was I supposed to say? That I'm homeless?" I asked sarcastically. My eyes reflected my pain. "I wouldn't be particularly proud if people knew that my best friend is a college dropout, broke, and homeless."

He sighed before running his fingers through his hair. "Listen, Y/N. I don't care what others say about you. They're judging you from your status in society; they don't know the real you, but I do."

"You..." I sniffled once again, restraining my emotions to the best of my ability. "I don't deserve someone as good as you..."

"Shh... Y/N, don't say that... You're... a wonderful person. Don't you ever forget that. Just remember that you'll always have me on your side..."

I smiled softly and climbed into the car. Although I was in such a fancy car, I felt so out of place, especially with my clothes.

All I really had were these pair of jeans and a hoodie. Plus, my hair was a complete mess. It was like a rat's nest. Well, appearances never had been a concern to me until now.

As Nagito drove the car, I couldn't help but notice how attractive he looked. He seemed so focused that he didn't notice my silent jealousy.

'I want to look good... for him...'

When that thought had crossed my mind, I slapped my hands on my cheeks, shaking my head repeatedly.

'No... what am I thinking?'

Then, Nagito's focus was broken. His eyes adverted into my direction for a couple times while he talked. "Is there something wrong?"

I pulled on the tattered sleeves of my hoodie nervously. "N-Not really... You don't have to be concerned."

He could only turn back his attention to the road as he let out a heavy sigh. I watched the other cars pass by, and I had started to absentmindedly brush my hair with my fingers. While he was driving, we passed another car, but I was able to see the driver.

She was beautiful to say the least. Her light pink hair ended just above her shoulders, and they curled outwards. I could also notice her mauve eyes were glued to the road in front of her, and her eyelashes seemed long enough without any mascara.

I didn't think that my self-esteem could be lowered any more than it was. Apparently though, I was wrong.

"Hey, what are you looking at?"

That snapped me out of my trance. "Uh... the clouds..?" I answered which sounded more like a question.

His eyes traveled to where mine had been on previously. "Oh, that's Chiaki Nanami. She's an old colleague of mine. I guess I can think of her as an older sister."

"An older sister, huh?" I mumbled to myself, letting my eyes fall to my hands that were clasped tightly in my lap. "Then what do you think of me?"

An short silence hung in the air. Nagito gripped the steering wheel tightly, avoiding eye contact with me as he did so.

"Nagito?"

"Uh, sorry... what did you say?"

I pursed my lips together. I knew he heard what I had said. What's with playing dumb?

"What do you see me as? A sister?"

However, this time, without a bit of hesitation, he smiled while glancing over at me. "Yeah, a sister."

My heart sunk. Although, I was completely in the dark to why I felt this way. Why did that hurt me so much? To lift the awkward mood, I forced a laugh.

"Aww... I just got sister-zoned."

Komaeda could only smile with me as he drove. A few moments passed before we reached a parking lot.

"Wait... where are we?" I asked, pressing my hands on the glass window.

"We're at the outlet mall." He answered, pulling the gearstick to the letter "P".

"Why?" I hesitantly opened the car door, following his lead.

Another chuckle was emitted. "To buy you some new stuff. I want you to enjoy yourself today." With that, he closed his side of the car door and stepped out to assist me.

We walked side by side as we entered through the gates. The air was warm, and the weather was sunny.

Without warning, Nagito grabbed my hand in his and ran in front of me.

"W-Woah! Where are you going?" I asked out of shock while clumsily running behind him.

"SNOWCONES!"

[***]

My lips were stained blue from the shaved ice that Nagito had bought for the both of us. As we were walking, absentmindedly holding hands, a store caught my eye. On the shelves by the display windows were these beautiful glass slippers.

They looked like the ones Cinderella had worn to the ball. My dearest friend had caught me staring and immediately dragged me into the store before I had a say in it.

The store looked magical. The racks were filled with various kinds of shoes and clothing. Dresses in different styles, lengths, and colors hung on one side of the store while other outstanding outfits filled the other.

"You can look around here and pick out anything you like, Y/N. We'll split up and meet at the cash register in twenty minutes, okay?"

I nodded excitedly. "Thanks for doing this... I can't thank you enough!"

A soft yet painful smile crossed his face. "Well, it might be the last time I see you after you're married, so I'll try to enjoy the day while I can."

That brought the harsh reality back to me. "R-Right... my engagement..."

Without another word, Nagito wandered off, leaving me in the middle in between the endless assortments of clothing. My fingers tangled with the various fabrics, wondering if I could really buy something so beautiful.

Although dresses were not my style, I couldn't help but stare at some of the beautiful articles that was laid in front of me. Absentmindedly, I grabbed a F/C dress which ended a bit above the knee.  It had a halter neckline with rhinestones embroidering the chest area.

To top it off, there was only one of it left, and it was in my size. My eyes nearly bulged out of its sockets once I saw the price tag.

'$430?'

Hesitantly, I grabbed the hanger and moved it back towards the rack. Before I could, a voice rung out, and a hand grabbed my wrist gently.

"That's a nice dress. Why are you putting it back?"

My E/C eyes met with shiny green ones, and I felt my heart flutter. Komaeda's face was close to mine.

"I-It's too expensive..." I said softly, my eyes adverting from his intense gaze. "I don't want you to waste four-hundred thirty dollars one me..."

A smile appeared on his face. "Y/N, I told you that it's fine. I'd waste all the money that I have on you if I could. I want you to be happy, and I hope Kamukura can give that to you. This is the least that I can do."

I bit my lip, slowly looking back up at him. I nodded slightly, retracting my hand from the rack.

"I guess I'll go try it on then." Shyly, I walked to the fitting room with Nagito following behind me. He waited in a chair outside of the rooms, and he went on his phone to take care of some business.

I stared at myself in the mirror. My hair was horrendous. Using my fingers to brush it all out would be useless. To avoid all of the hassle, I tied it up in a ponytail. [Short-haired girls can just leave it]

Slowly, I stripped all of my clothes off and stared at myself in the mirror in just my underwear and bra. I picked up the dress and gazed at it, wondering if I could really pull it off.

Without another moment, I slid it on and zipped up the back by myself. It fit perfectly as if it was tailored just for me. I was left speechless once I looked in the mirror. It showed quite a bit of skin, but it was comfortable.

This dress was absolutely stunning. The way the skirt fanned out at the bottom was gorgeous. I looked like a true girl.

I opened the fitting room door, eager to show Nagito, but once the door flew all the way out, he was nowhere in sight. The chair was empty, but he must've just left because of the imprint of his ass in the fabric.

"Nagito?" I called out nervously, hoping he was still in the area.

I received no response. Just as I was about to pull out my phone to call him, an arm slinked over my shoulder.

"Ah, Nagito, I thought you left m--"

I stopped once I saw an unfamiliar face. This man was clearly intoxicated, and I could see the lust brewing in his eyes.

"What is a pretty little lady like you doing shopping alone, eh?" His mouth was so close to my face that I could smell the alcohol lingering on his tongue. "That little dress looks good on you, but it'd look better on the floor."

His hand then grabbed at me. My eyes widened once I noticed where he was touching.

"NO! STOP!" I cried, trying to push him off. He overpowered me, pushing me back into the dressing room to avoid attention. He roughly pressed his lips over my neck and started biting and sucking.

His hand roamed from my across my breasts to my private area. He rubbed me roughly, and I let out a high-pierced shriek.

"NAGITO!" I screamed, tears streaming down my cheeks as the man fumbled to get the zipper undone.

Before he could fully undress my undergarments, the door slammed open, and Nagito stood there with sweat along his hairline. His hands were clenched into fists, and an expression of pure fury decorated his face.

"GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM HER!"

Before the drunk man could reply, a hard punch was thrown at his face, knocking him out cold.

My tears couldn't seem to stop even after Nagito had saved me. As I was on the verge of collapsing, he held me tightly, helping me out of the dressing room. My fingers curled tightly around his shirt as he sat me down in the chair that he previously sat in.

I stared at him with my swollen eyes and my tear-stained cheeks. His big hands were placed gently on my shoulders.

He leaned his head forward, and so did I so that our foreheads were touching.

"I'm sorry I couldn't be there for you. I feel... horrible... Y/N, I don't know how to make this up to you. I should've never left your side."

After being scarred by the previous event, I could only cry more. However, I didn't notice him slowly lean in.

Our lips brushed against each other before he pulled away. In that short time that our lips barely touched, I could feel how much warmth and love there was.

I wanted to feel it longer...

I've never realized what this emotion was since it was just so complex. Now, I realize that it wasn't supposed to be a complex feeling; it was love.

"I-I'm sorry..." Nagito apologized, his face flushed while trying his best to look away. "I shouldn't have done that..."

I wanted to tell him that he was wrong, but the reality of having a fiancée hit me. The only real thing I could do was nod.

He bought me the dress, and we left the store, walking two feet apart from each other. To say the situation was awkward would be an understatement.

When we got in the car, we didn't talk. The entire ride back to my parents' house was in utter silence. My eyes grew drowsy, and soon, I succumbed to the darkness.

Nagito's POV

I bit my lip tightly as I clenched onto the steering wheel. The feeling of her soft lips barely touching mine still lingered. No matter what Y/N would say, I wouldn't regret what I did. Yes, her marriage doomed any chance of a romantic relationship between us, so I was going to make the best of it while she still has her maiden name.

Her soft breath was the only thing that I could hear in the car. It was quite clear that she was in a light slumber. Finally, the uncomfortable tension in the vehicle disappeared. At the red lights, I stopped and stared at her longingly.

If only I could kiss her again... That  would be wrong, though. She was at her most vulnerable point, and just a few minutes prior, she was taken advantage of and groped. I'm just thankful that I arrived on time to stop the man from advancing any further.

The four letter word beginning with "R" floated around in my mind. There was no way that I was going to let that happen. It should be with someone she loves and treasures, not some goon who had too much to drink.

If only that someone whom she loves and treasures were me. Melancholy flooded my mind as I tried to turn my mind away from the only woman who I ever loved. In the years that I have lived my life, such emotion has never hit me as hard as this one.

Someone whom I loved deeply was to be wed to another man... a man who she didn't know and who could potentially could hurt her. I shook my head vigorously, my soft hair swaying as I did so.

The light flicked green, and I pressed on the pedal. The car once again accelerated as the constant grumbling of the car sung a lullaby to Y/N. She looked so peaceful and beautiful despite her hair being matted with dirt.

At that moment, I made a rash decision. I took a turn away from Y/N's parents' house. They would only thank me and kick her out after I left. Sometimes, I was convinced that they let me stick around her because I was a rich student planning on fulfilling a high-paying occupation.

That thought hurt. However, I couldn't help but wonder if they would approve of me and their daughter. All they did was look a wealth, which was very shallow, but I knew that Izuru Kamukura would outweigh me by a landslide.

Taking one hand off of the wheel, I used my fingers to comb through my hair, a little quirk I always did when I was frustrated.

"Y/N..." I muttered softly, turning the wheel to the left. "You have no idea how much this hurts... If only I could tell you how much I love you..."

As soon as I pulled into the parking lot of my apartment. I was saving most of my money to buy a better house later. The apartment complex was quite big though. Not everyone could afford to live here for even two nights.

I parked the car, and my head automatically turned to Y/N's sleeping form. Subconsciously, my hand reached out to stroke her hair. It was undoubtedly dirty, but it still kept its soft texture. It wasn't brittle, just slightly greasy.

Slowly, my hand moved down to her shoulder, gently shaking it. She didn't budge. All she did was groan, acknowledging my existence. Then, she fell right back to sleep.

Having no choice, I left to go to her side of the car. I carefully carried her with my arms under her back and knees. Her head cuddled close to my chest. Her mouth parted, letting out another soft sound.

My face heated up after my mind roamed to... darker places... once I heard her.

This girl would be the death of me...

Just as I reached my door, I saw Chiaki walking down the hallway, holding her phone to her ear. Frustration was printed across her face.

"No, sir. I cannot come tomorrow! I have said it more than two times today, but I am not your mother. You should be able to deal with this problem on your own! Good day!"

Angrily, she removed the phone from her ear and hung up by pressing the button forcefully.

"Hey, Nami." I called out, still hugging Y/N close to me.

She turned around, her anger quickly dissipating. Her eyes landed on Y/N who was peacefully asleep in my arms.

"Oh my lord!" She squealed, cupping her hands to her own face. "I didn't realize your girlfriend was so cute!"

Without another moment wasted, she rushed over to me, examining Y/N closer. I turned my body a bit to create distance between the two.

"Shh... she's sleeping." My eyes looked down at her, and my eyes softened at the sight. "And she's not my girlfriend... She... has a fiancée."

A look of sadness flashed across Chiaki's eyes. "Oh..." She looked a bit disappointed. "But... don't you love her?"

"Pft..." I tried to dodge the question. "What makes you think that?"

Nanami tapped her chin with her index finger in deep thought. "You just have that certain glow, and I saw the way you looked at her just now. You clearly love her."

I sighed, completely defeated. "Yeah... I do..."

Chiaki placed her hand on my shoulder, a sign of sympathy. "Oh, Nagito... I'm so sorry..."

I nodded, trying to pull the situation out of the depths of awkwardness. "Anyways, can you open my door? The key's in my left pocket."

"Ah, sure!" She smiled. "Mind if I hang with you two for a bit?"

"No, not at all."

-A Few Minutes Later-

Y/N's POV

My eyelids slowly opened. Everything around me seemed so different. The unfamiliar walls and ceiling stared back at me. There was also a bed underneath me, something that I haven't felt in a while.

"Huh.." I mumbled out, looking to my left.

A girl with mauve hair sat in a chair, her head propped up by her hand. Her eyes were closed, but she seemed familiar.

'It's the girl that I saw driving the car... Chi...Chiaki Nanami...'

I sat up, panicked.

'Did she kidnap me?'

Before I could hit her with any object that I could get my hands on, Nagito walked into the room. "Oh, you're awake." He smiled sweetly at me.

Memories of his attempt at kissing me flooded my mind. I broke eye contact and simply muttered. "I guess so..."

Chiaki slowly rose from her slumber as she heard Nagito's voice. "Ah, it seems that Sleeping Beauty has finally arisen."

"Ha... yeah..." I said, uncomfortable with the tense atmosphere. "Uh, where am I?"

"My place." Nagito answered nonchalantly. "Nami changed your clothes so that you wouldn't feel uncomfortable. If you want, you can take a shower." He pointed towards the bathroom which seemed bigger than my old childhood room.

"D-Do you have any clothes?" I asked. "I'm pretty sure I dirtied the ones that I'm wearing now... It's been a while since I had a good shower..."

Chiaki raced over to Nagito's drawers before he could reply. She pulled out an oversized white shirt with red print on it and tossed it towards me.

"The shirt should be able to cover your underwear, so it's fine."

Then, she walked over to her bag and pulled out her undergarment. "I always have one in case Aunt Flow wants some. You can use it."

I nodded, thankful that I could finally be clean.

Eager, I grabbed the articles of clothing and rushed into the bathroom, not wasting any time. It was definitely relaxing, and I was able to clean up the built-up dirt and grime that attached itself to both my hair and body for the past weeks.

Once I stepped out of the shower, I did my best to dry my hair and skin. Then, I put on the clothes. For the first time, I smiled at my reflection. I never noticed how nice I looked clean. Chiaki was right when she said that I only needed the shirt.

It went a bit over my 'area', probably just about three or four inches.

I opened the door, and the pink-haired girl greeted me with a smile with a towel in her hands. "Ko is in the living room watching TV. Why don't I help you dry off and brush your hair?"

I thanked her for her offer, and I sat down on Nagito's bed while Nanami started to run the towel over my head while brushing all of the knots out.

"So, what's your name?" She asked.

"Uh... Y/N L/N..." I muttered, wondering why she needed to know. I guess it's fair because I know her name.

"Ah, what a nice name!" I could practically feel her smiling. Her mood was definitely contagious as I found myself having a soft smile on my face. "What's your relationship with Ko?"

"...Huh?" I tensed up, and my face immediately flushed, thinking back to that kiss once again. It just couldn't leave my mind. "W-We're just really good friends..!"

Suddenly, the towel stopped running through my hair. "Do you really think that I'll believe that?"

A moment of silence passed across us.

"W-Well..." I stammered, my eyes darting around the room nervously as she resumed brushing and drying my hair.

"Don't you like him? More than a friend, I mean?" Chiaki said softly. She brushed my hair one last time before putting the brush down.

I sat there, not talking.

Chiaki heaved out a breath and shook her head. "Man, you must be head over heels for him..."

Finally, I admitted it. Running away from my feelings wouldn't help forever. Nami just seemed so trustworthy, and I just needed to lift the burden, even just for a bit.

"Yeah... but I can't tell him that..."

I felt her hand circle my back in a soothing manner. "If only love were easy, huh?"

I looked up at her and gave her a weak smile. "Amen, sister."

After a while, Chiaki left, but I was grateful that we had that talk. Yes, I realized my deep feelings for my dearest childhood friend, but it was too late. I was to be claimed by another man, and that was just in two days.

Two days, and the wedding was already planned. How is something that extreme possible? Oh right, both sides of the families are filthy rich, so of course they'd have all the wedding planners and designers at their disposal.

I got a text saying that Nagito would be Izuru's best man since he was my best friend and all. Izuru had chosen someone who he trusts to be my maid of honor. Everything just seemed so nerve-wracking.

In two days, I would be Mrs. Kamukura... I don't want this...

Tears brimmed in my eyes as I thought about my future. Yes, I would have a rich husband who could deal with anyone without lifting a finger, but I'd be unhappy.

I'd rather be Mrs. Komaeda, but that was a distant dream.

Slowly, I got up from the bed and headed into the living room. True to Chiaki's word, Nagito sat on the couch, flipping channels. When he noticed that I stepped out, his face flushed. "Oh, you're finished already?"

"Mmhm..." I hummed, walking over and taking a seat next to him. Still sleepy, I leaned my head on his shoulder, and he wrapping his arm around my waist, pulling me closer. "Did you hear the news?"

"Yeah..." He answered, his voice laced with melancholy. "Two days, huh?"

I nuzzled my head into his shoulder, inhaling his scent. Finally, my tears fell. It dripped onto his skin, and as soon as he noticed, his arm moved from my waist to my head.

He pushed it slightly so that I was closer to him. My head was now squished in-between his hand and collarbone, but I didn't mind. My body shook as my cries intensified.

"Nagito..." I mumbled softly. "I'm sorry..."

He shushed me, stroking my hair while kissing the top of my head. "Hey... there's nothing to be sorry for. I'm just glad I get to spend this moment with you, my dear Cinderella..."

-Two Days Later-

Nagito's POV

I was dressed in my tuxedo. The ceremony was going to begin in forty-five minutes, and I was about to witness the love of my life being torn away from me. It was painful as it was at the moment, but I didn't know how I'd react when Y/N said those two fated words.

'I do...'

On my lap was a box that was neatly wrapped in white wrapping paper. To finish it off, I tied a red bow on the top. Inside the box were the glass slippers that Y/N had seen while window shopping.

I bit my lip.

'Someday my Cinderella will come...'

I set the box down on the dresser and wrote a quick note. After finishing the note with my neatest penmanship, I stuffed it in my tuxedo pocket.

'I love you, Y/N, and I always will.'

Someone would find it on me, dead or alive.

Finalizing my decision, I carried the box to Y/N's dressing room and placed it next to the door. There was a note stuck to the wrapping paper, signifying who the gift was from.

I knocked on her door twice before leaving.

Silently, I stalked up the stairs and onto the rooftop.

Y/N's POV

Just as the woman added the last flower pin to my hair, I heard two knocks at the door. Clad in my white dress, I opened the door to see that no one was there except a single box. I picked it up, reading the label.

'From: Nagito...'

I smiled softly, trying to restrain my tears because my makeup would be ruined. Sighing, I placed the box on the vanity table and headed out to find Nagito. I wanted to thank him... for everything.

Izuru was still getting ready, so I had some time to myself. Rehearsals yesterday took forever, and I hadn't gotten a chance to speak with my best friend. It hurt to know that today was the day that I'd let him go...

"Nagito!" I called out, running around the building with my heels on. The back of it chafed against the back of my feet, and I cursed silently.

I threw the cursed things off and was finally able to run around the halls freely. I bumped into my maid of honor who happened to be Chiaki.

'Izuru knows her, too..?'

"Have you seen Nagito?" I asked, my face tinted a slight pink. "I have to thank him for giving me a gift."

Chiaki shook her head solemnly before placing both of her hands on my shoulders. "Are you sure you want to go through this wedding?"

I could only stare back at her pink orbs with my E/C ones. I shook my head. "But I have to."

Nanami sighed, a look of disappointment yet sorrow crossed her face. I understood the disappointment part, but why sorrow?

"Hey, do you... like Kamukura?"

Her entire body tensed, and she nearly tripped over her own heels. "Er..."

I smiled softly. "If I could hand you over to him, I would..."

A bittersweet chuckle rang out from the both of us.

"We dated for four months, and this is the news that he pops up to me. We broke up because of it, but I still love him." She confessed. "Anyways, enough about me. Go find your man!"

'My man...'

Another rash decision crossed my mind. If I called off the wedding, everything would fit into place correctly. Nagito and me, and Chiaki and Izuru. It was as if a five-year-old had tried to put this puzzle together and tried to make everything fit.

It was time that I would fix that.

I looked in all of the rooms despite having a fifteen-pound dress on. Sweat beaded above my brow and lip as I searched desperately for the man whom I truly love.

The last place gave me the chills.

'The rooftop...'

I almost discarded the idea of him being there, but I just had to check.

The stairs were steep and long, but I had to know if he was there. If he was, what was he doing? Was he by himself? What made him come up there?

All these questions swirled my mind furiously as I reached the last step. Finally, with the last of my strength, I pushed open the heavy door and fell forwards, my hands catching me.

My hair was a curly mess as it threatened to fall out of its traditional bun. My makeup was probably dribbling down my face. Once I lifted my head up, I was met with two emotions.

Relief and fear.

There he was, in his tuxedo with his hair tied into a low ponytail. It would've been a normal sight if he hadn't been standing on the ledge of the roof, one foot about to step on nothingness.

Nagito's POV

I sat on the rooftop, contemplating my worries. There would be no point in living if Y/N was gone from me forever. She was my main drive to live even if she didn't know it. I couldn't live the rest of my life in constant depression.

I didn't want to face that Y/N was with another man.

I didn't want to see her say 'I do' to a stranger that she had barely met.

I didn't want her to live the rest of her life with him.

I didn't want her to leave me for some other guy.

I... I didn't want her away from my side.

I want her with me...

I fought back the tears that had been forming in the corners of my eyes. Without another thought that would convince me to live, I climbed over the railing to the rooftop. My eyes shifted down the the sight below. Cars whirred past, and pedestrians were happily chatting.

All I wanted was to hold Y/N one last time before I went, but that wish would be left unfulfilled.

I guess she really would be the death of me...

Just as I was about to lift my foot, I heard the door to the roof swing open. Surprised, I turned around and saw Y/N, propped on her hands in a mermaid-like position. Her dress tailed behind her, and I could see the look of worry outlined on her face.

"Y/N..?" I mumbled, my eyes wide and now glazed over with tears. "Why... are you here?"

She looked up at me, her eyes more wet than mine. "WHAT IN GOD'S GRACE DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?!" She yelled, little beads dripping from her cheeks.

Slowly, she sat up and stood up, walking shakily over to me. Her hands gripped her dress tightly, and I could tell that she was filled with fear. All of it showed on her face.

"WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?!" She screamed, not wanting to get closer to me, afraid that I might jump at any moment. I was planning to, at least. "Why... Why are you doing this, Nagito..?"

My breathing got heavier as I gripped onto the rail for balance. Finally, I was able to face her. "You... really don't know how I feel, right?" I mumbled. "I just can't live being in constant depression, always worrying about your wellbeing."

"Your feelings?" She asked, her tears dropping more and more. "Have you considered what state I would be in after you committed suicide? It'd be more pain than you're feeling now..." I saw her dress start to tremble near her knees. Finally, she collapsed, covering her face.

Panicked, I hopped over the rail and rushed to her, enveloping her in a soothing hug. Her sobs floated in the wind, and I could sense her tremendous pain.

"Hey..." I said softly, stroking her head like I had always done. "Even if I am gone, you still have many more friends that you've known. You'll always have Naegi, and you've known him longer than I have..."

She shook her head, finally looking up at me with her bloodshot eyes. "You don't understand... Not only would I be losing my best friend, but I'd also be losing the one person who I ever loved in this God-forsaken world..."

My heart tightened at her words.

'She... loves me..?'

I could only stare at her, and finally, I felt my waterworks begin, too. "Y/N... I love you, too... I just can't stand the pain of knowing that you're with someone else other than me..."

"Then you won't have to..." She looked up at me with that warm smile that I've always loved. "I'm calling off the wedding... for us..."

Once again, my eyes widened as I pushed her face to my chest. I rested my chin on top of her as my tears fell.

"Thank the Lord..." I mumbled. "I'm... I'm just so happy..."

"M-Me, too..." Y/N sniffled, wrapping her arms around my back.

Y/N's POV

We pulled away after a while and stared into each other's eyes. His hand slowly and shakily reached out and caressed my cheek. All of the worry and doubt disappeared from his eyes as he leaned in.

My eyelids fluttered shut as I could feel his warm lips brush up against mine again. This time, however, he didn't pull away.

Without another second, he pushed his lips onto mine forcefully, hungrily. I let out a soft gasp at the force that he was applying, and my hands clasped together behind his neck. His kiss was gentle yet forceful.

I could feel butterflies erupt from my stomach. Nagito's other hand held my waist close to him, making me press my chest into his. Slowly, I was able to part my mouth, allowing our tongues to mix and intertwine.

"N-Nagito..." I murmured softly, tugging slightly at his soft hair. "Mmm~"

The heat between us increased as this special moment dragged on.

He dominated me in the tongue war, and what he did next surprised me.

He dragged his lips across my skin, all the way down to my neck. I could feel his teeth nibbling at my skin as I let out another strangled cry.

I clung onto him as his lips traveled over my skin. My face was a mess of red, and all I could do was let out noises as Nagito's love for me was made apparent in this single moment.

Soon, he glided his mouth to my collarbone, leaving butterfly kisses in a short trail. Finally, he pulled away, a small yet loving smile on his face.

I returned the smile. "Are you done yet?"

His grin only grew. "Not even finished, Y/N. Now that you're mine, I'm going to make sure not one second with you is wasted."

He pinned me down on the ground. My face heated up once I saw him from this angle. He was handsome. Baby hairs framed his face, and his bronze-green eyes showed a love that only I would experience.

Finally, he pressed his lips onto mine again, sealing the deal. I could only smile as I realized that I received my conclusion after all of these terrible years. This was my ending... I am his Cinderella, and I always will be.

Nagito had given me a greater gift than anyone else could...

My fairytale ending...

Wow. That's like so many words, honestly. If you want to know the actual word count, I'd be happy to tell you if you ask. I was gone for two months, and this is what I conjured up in that time. I hope you enjoyed it! It took me a while to type actually!

If you can guess two songs that this chapter is roughly based on, then you get a cookie! Totally worth it.

Thanks so much for 100K+! I never thought that this day would come T~T I love you all so much!
