{CS}His Reason [Leon Kuwata] (AU)
"I already have what I want for Christmas. It's your turn."
-Anonymous
Y/N's POV
Never once have I met a man so outrageous. Scratch that. I have never met a person so... so... UGH!
I could feel rage bubble up inside of me. It was Christmas day, and my friend decided to host a party to celebrate. Maybe I should've rejected the invitation. The party was nice, yes, but there was a single person there who dragged down the festive mood down.
Leon Kuwata.
This fucker was blabbing about how Christmas was the worst holiday mankind could celebrate. Hasn't he ever heard of "Christmas Spirit"?
Currently, he had waltzed over to a group of girls drinking eggnog, one being my friend AKA the host.
He winked at them, and immediately, all four of them, yes, including Sayaka, fell under his spell. Obviously, I rolled my eyes at the gesture.
"You're really pretty, babe." He flirted with Sayaka, taking her hand in his and kissing her knuckles.
"Wh-Why... thank you..!" She stammered, flustered at the playboy in front of her.
'That's sad. Sayaka, I thought you knew better.'
The worse part was, he has a girlfriend. A GIRLFRIEND! A person you're supposed to love and stay loyal to. They've known each other for like five years!
Annoyed at the constant flirting between my best friend and a total douche whose mind never even thought of the consequences if he got caught for his cheating, I headed over for the couch with my hot beverage in hand.
A flash of light outside the window that I was sitting near caught my attention. The familiar color of red and green lured me to come out, and so I did.
As soon as the winter air hit my face, I felt more calm and relaxed. The coolness in the air soothed my anger and nerves.
Leon suddenly disappeared from my mind, and I let out a sigh. My breath mixed with the cold air, creating a brief cloud of smoke.
"Merry Christmas..." I said quietly to the stars overhead.
"Who are you talking to, babe?"
Anger suddenly flushed within me.
"Don't even come twenty feet near me, Kuwata." I grimaced.
"Aw. What's wrong, babe? Something bothering you about Christmas, too?" He chuckled.
"No." I glared. "Your presence is giving me cancer."
He tilted his head before cracking another smile. "Interesting word choice, babe. How about you and I go to the bedroom and--"
"Shut up." I twisted my head over to look at him. "Don't call me babe, you jackass."
He raised his hands up defensively. "Alright, alright. I won't call you babe, darling."
I inhaled deeply. [BOI]
Leon, however, took this as some sort of sign. "Are you trying to smell my beauty?"
Rolling my eyes, I replied back sarcastically. "If beauty smells like a bunch of naked girls, then yes."
"Ouch. That was nice, though." He smirked once again.
'This fucking flirt.'
"Just don't talk to me, Kuwata. Your face disgusts me." I muttered coldly. [End me]
His flirty exterior started disappear. "What have I ever done to you?"
I stared back at him in disbelief. "What do you mean 'What have I ever done to you'? You're flirting with every single girl in eyesight like it's nobody's business!"
"Eh? What's so wrong with flirting with pretty girls?" He asked, slightly confused.
"THE FACT THAT YOU'RE ASKING THEM TO FUCK THE LIVING CUM OUT OF YOU!" I shouted angrily, gripping my hands into a fist.
"AND?!" He yelled back.
"AND?! WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT?!" I argued back. "You're asking random girls to have intercourse with you!"
He rolled his eyes, pulling his scarf down until I saw the piercing under his lip. "So? They want to fuck me, too. It's not like we're underage. We're all twenty."
I felt like I had the biggest face palm moment in my life. "Can't you see these girls are blinded by lust?" I whispered. "When they eventually do grow up and find a husband, they'll have the shame of telling them that they lost their virginity to some twenty-year-old during a one-night stand."
His hesitation showed me that somewhere in his mind, he knew I was right. "What about me, huh? What will I have to tell my wife?"
"You're the one who invited the girls to have sex." I reminded him. "It was your entire fault that you decided to become a playboy."
"Yeah, but the girls I asked accepted the invita--"
"They were blinded by lust--"
"So was I!"
At that statement, my eyes widened.
"I was blinded by it... I still am!" He yelled, walking closer to me.
"Stay away, you bastard!" I shouted, taking a step back.
Leon stopped his movements and stared at me. "I can't control it."
"Yes, you can!" I retorted, angry that he was using that as an excuse. "How would your girlfriend react if she knew you were doing this behind her back?"
For a split second, I saw hurt flash across his eyes. "Don't talk about her."
"Why? Is it because pretty-boy is afraid of getting caught cheating?" I growled, feeling more and more sick at his infidelity.
His breathing got more rapid, and I could've sworn, tears welled up in his eyes. Though, through the snow and the smog of our warm breaths, I couldn't really tell.
"Leon?"
"Follow me."
Without a single pause, he turned around and started heading back into the house.
"H-Hey! Wait!" I ran behind him. "Y-Y-You don't just tell someone to follow you and expect them to listen!"
Yet, there I was, following him back into the house.
He climbed up the stairs, and so did I. Once we reached the second story, I had noticed none of the partygoers had bothered to travel above the ground floor.
"Where are you going?" I asked, but the question didn't seem to reach him. Though I was behind him and couldn't see his face, I could tell that he was troubled. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing." He muttered out at last after the silence. His hands hovered over a doorknob before grabbing it and twisting it open.
After the door swung, I looked inside. There was a single king-sized bed and two nightstands on either side.
'Fuck to the no.'
"Come in." He said after entering in and sitting on the bed.
"I'm not having se--"
"Can you please just trust me for a minute?" He asked, lacing his hands together. His nose was red and so were the tips of his ears. "I won't even lay a finger on you. I just want to talk."
"About?" I raised a brow.
"Please... just sit down." He begged, the whites of his eyes slightly tinted with pink.
Sucking in the last bits of my pride, I walked into the room and sat down on the other edge of the bed so that our backs were facing each other.
"Not how I imagined, but it'll do." Leon said bitterly.
"What do you want to talk about?" I asked, looking down towards my winter boots.
"The reason why I hate Christmas and the reason why I play around with girls tie together." He sighed, shifting a bit on the bed. By his muffled voice, I could tell that his hands were covering his face.
"And what is this reason?" I asked, still a bit fed up with his excuses. Though the anger would not subside, I felt... remorse... guilt for prejudging him.
"On Christmas last year..." He inhaled deeply yet shakily. "Last year... I had gone shopping for an engagement ring. I had been pondering over it for a while, and finally, I worked up the nerves to buy one."
"You... you were planning to get married?" I asked, completely shocked by his confession.
"Yeah... I loved her more than anything in the world. Who knew she would be the reason why I would come to hate Christmas forever."
Shaking my head, I turned around to only face his back. "Just because she rejected your proposal doesn't mean you have to hate a holiday. It may have been because she wasn't ready."
He leaned forward as if the memory was painful.
"It wasn't just the rejection, and that wasn't the reason." Leon interrupted, his cries now escaping from his lips. "After she said no... She told me she'd been having countless affairs with many other men. She only lusted after me because of my looks and my fortune."
A gasp erupted from me. "Wh-Whoa..." I mumbled.
His entire body began shaking, and it was evident that he was crying. "It happened on Christmas Day, too. She flatly told me the truth and just left. I came to hate Christmas, and I followed in her footsteps..."
Soon, I saw that he was turning around, his face red.
On instinct, I wrapped my arms around him, patting his back in comfort. My mother had always done this when I was down in the dumps, and it always had worked.
"Now... I don't... even bother." He continued, his shaky voice now muffled by being pressed against my chest. "I've come to realize that girls only wanted me for my appearance and money..."
I stroked his hair. "Leon... Just understand that not every single girl is like that. There must be a girl... somewhere in the world that was meant for you."
His crying started to become quieter.
Never had I seen someone so... so emotional...
My guiltiness poured through me. I judged him and didn't see him for who he is. He was suffering inside, but all he needed was a source of support. Not even a therapist could get that out of him.
So... So why was he telling me..?
"Shh... It's okay..." I soothed him like a crying child clinging onto his mother. "I'm here..."
-A Few Minutes Later-
Y/N's POV
We sat in the room, a moment of awkwardness looming above us.
"So... uh..." He rubbed the back of his neck. "Thanks..."
I gave him a soft smile. "No problem... Sorry for judging you, but I don't think sleeping with other girls would fix your problem."
He chuckled. "Yeah... I'll stop doing that. For now, the only person who I will ever share my love with is someone who I will marry... and not have them confess that they've been cheating as we're doing our vows."
We both laughed at his small little joke.
"That's a good start. Treat the girl well." Standing up, I headed for the door.
An image with Leon and another girl burned into my mind. What I didn't know was that I was getting annoyed. At that picture, I was growing more annoyed than I could ever imagine.
'Is this... jealousy..?'
I shook my head from the thought.
"Are you okay?" Leon asked, lifting his head up.
"I-I'm fine." I lied, clenching my jaw together. "I'm just going home... nothing else."
"Oh, then let me walk you." He stood up, but before he could come near me, I interfered with his offer.
"N-No... You don't need to. I'll be fine on my own." I gave him a fake smile, but in his eyes, I could see that he knew it wasn't real.
"I don't want anything happening to you. It's pretty dark out. Lemme walk you."
After much persistence, I took up the offer, and he was going to walk me home.
We both walked down the stairs, me being ahead of him. As soon as I reached the bottom step, Sayaka stood in front of me, her hand in front of my face as if telling me to stop.
"What are you doing?" I asked, confused. "Did you drink too much or something?"
Leon soon came down and was standing right behind me. "What's with the holdup?"
Sayaka giggled and pointed towards the ceiling.
At the simple gesture, I knew what she meant.
The entire room stopped and stared at the both of us, each person having a smile on their face.
Up on the ceiling, hung by cheap black duct tape was a mistletoe. The pearly white berries had leaves underneath it, protruding out from every side. (Before you say the berries are supposed to be red, let me correct you and say that those are hollies, not mistletoes.)
Upon seeing the decorated plant handing above, I started to walk away, but someone caught ahold of my wrist.
Already knowing who the culprit was, I turned around and gave him an "are you serious" look.
Leon stood there, pink dusting his cheeks. "Well, we have to do it, right?"
I huffed out, annoyed yet flustered. "Fine."
He smirked and grabbed my waist, pulling me towards him. Before he connected our lips, he gave me the most genuine smile he could muster.
"Maybe Christmas won't be so bad if you were around." He said.
My face burned up, but I didn't have enough time to feel the heat since our faces were already pressed together.
I felt like I could fly at any moment. That's how magical it felt... My first kiss.
We stood there, just like that: a healing boy and a girl who finally took action and found the truth to his suffering. She fixed it.
After we pulled away, I couldn't help but look into his mesmerizing blue eyes.
"Christmas may be my new favorite season after all..." He said at last.
I only gave him a smile in return.
I closed the photo album that I had been looking through.
"And that's how your father and I met." I smiled towards our two lovely girls. Of course, I explained the entire thing without the curse words or "adult stuff" I repeated that day.
The two in front of me looked at each other. They were both six years old and twins. Well, they were fraternal twins.
It was Christmas Eve tonight, and before going to bed, I told them the story. "Now goodnight, you two. Did you leave the milk and cookies for Santa?" I asked.
They both nodded their heads.
"Love you." I smiled.
"Love you, too, Mommy." They said in unison.
I closed the door to their bedroom and headed over to the couch where my dear husband was sitting.
"Hey." He smiled, his head leaving the game on the TV.
"Hey." I said softly back, returning the smile.
His hands gently caressed my growing stomach. "How's he doing?"
"Kicking." I laughed at bit, turning at an angle where I could rest my head on his shoulder.
"Two more months, and I get to see my baby boy." He said excitedly like a little child on Christmas Day.
"I'm sure he'll look just like you, Leon." I said, feeling drowsy.
"And I'm sure he'll be as beautiful as you, Y/N." He replied, stroking my hair.
"Hey, do you remember the Christmas party that Sayaka held six years ago?" I asked, my consciousness starting to drift away from me.
"Yeah... it was the night that changed my life." He said with a smile. "Love you."
Just as sleep overwhelmed me, I managed to mutter out. "Love you, too."
