One Rescuer

Creed spent a couple of hours giving all of the officers a crash course on hand to hand combat with a vampire. He showed them some good strategies just to keep themselves alive. Mostly stay in a group and the crucifix is a great weapon and never panic.

"Everyone that was willing is hiding in the church buildings." Office Todd looked nervous. He was loaded with guns and ammo.

"Thanks, Rambo!" Creed smiled. "Make sure to double up on crosses."

Todd nodded and went to make sure everyone did that.

Creed took a breath and made sure Killian, Haven, and Lois were safe in the church and gave Haven and Lois their own necklaces. He had to protect them.

Killian threatened his brother with death if he didn't come back. Haven was scared and just held Lois. He knew that Creed would risk his life for this town. What an idiot. Haven never made him promise to be careful, he did make sure Creed promised to come back.

The posse was in Big Rock waiting for the sun to set. This vampire was enjoying killing people and they had to try to find any people that were missing. They had an approximate count of missing people. Ten officers including Sheriff Hornsby and Sheriff Spencer.

There were several townspeople and three tourists. They went missing during a hike. There were thirty people in all. Creed hoped they weren't all dead. But that thought led to more. Was he storing them, waiting until he was hungry? Were they all dead?

That was a lot of food for one vampire. There had to be more than one. He had to have made more vampires. How many? If there are thirty vampires, they are all dead, the whole town and Big Rock. Creed couldn't protect them from thirty vampires. Creed didn't like this vampire.

"Come on. Don't separate. Stay together. If you see something, say something and keep the light behind me." Creed hated flashlights but that meant the bad guy would too.

Creed walked ahead of everyone. He was hunting right now. He caught a smell. Blood. "This way." He walked with purpose down a hill and up another and the men followed without hesitation or questions. He appreciated them. He smelled blood. He pulled some tree limbs from a hole in the hill and Chief Hornsby was laying there. He was breathing.

"Hey," Creed whispered and checked for a pulse. "He's alive. Sheriff? Are you okay?"

Hornsby opened his eyes. "Creed. I should have known you were part of this. We were attacked and the man left me. He wouldn't touch me. How did you know about the cross?"

"I just know. Can you walk?" Creed was worried.

"No. I think I broke my leg. I have been here since. I ran and panicked. It was a stupid rookie mistake. I don't know about anyone else. It's been silent here." He took a breath.

"Someone have water?" Creed whispered. Flante handed Hornsby some water and he drank it slowly. He appreciated it. "Can you just stay here? For now. I think you're safe here. Uh, I don't want to give away your hiding place. We will be back. Just hold on."

Hornsby nodded. "Never thought I would say this but it's good to see you, Creed. You would make an excellent cop!" He smiled.

Creed smiled. "Thanks, Sir. It's probably the blood loss." Hornsby chuckled and agreed. "We won't leave you. I'm going to kill that bastard." He nodded as Hornsby nodded. They covered him up again and kept moving. Creed smelled more blood. There was a cave. Why? Why was it in a cave all nice and creepy? "Here." He pointed. "Crosses ready." He watched the group.

"I see you brought me more food!" The vampire was on the hill behind them.

"No. I came to tell you to stop. You're killing my people. This is my place. You are intruding and I was here first. I don't share." Creed growled. "Where are they? The ones you took?"

"Here and there. Some are still alive. I'm not a pig!" He smiled.

Creed heard it. There was another one behind him. He turned and punched the new one. He was strong but Creed had age on this young one. He tackled him over a ledge and killed him as they tumbled off a cliff. Creed tore out his heart. It worked on Megan. He spat and jumped back to the top. It was a good hundred foot drop. Creed cleared it with room to spare. His men were shocked but they were still together.

Creed had blood on him. "Got any more?" Creed was a pissed vampire now. He was very territorial and didn't realize it. This was his area. "Just you and me." He growled.

The other vampire actually flinched. "I didn't know that there was another vampire in the area. I thought it was secluded and waiting to be claimed!" He didn't want to fight with this vampire.

Creed growled loud. "You were wrong and you killed my people. You fucked up. What's your name?"

"Dan Honeycutt. I was turned about six months ago and came here. I figured it was safe here."

"It's not. I'm not happy with what you're doing. If you want to stay, stop killing people." Creed thought about letting him live.

"And what, starve?" Dan wasn't listening.

"Animals. Just the wild animals. There are more than enough out here." Creed was handing him one chance.

"Yuck! Never. That would be like switching from caviar to peanut butter and jelly! How about I kill you and take over and do as I please?" Dan smiled a creepy vampire smile.

Creed smiled his own creepy vampire smile. "Sure or I could just give up and we can drink them all, maybe we can team up. Which one looks good to you?" He turned to his people and winked. They were ready with crosses. Creed hoped they knew he would never turn on them.

Dan hopped down and walked around the group of humans. His opinion of humans was low and that was what Creed was counting on. Dan licked his lips. He walked through the middle and Creed smiled. Everyone pulled out crosses and held them on him. Dan fell and screamed in burning pain.

Creed jumped on Dan and touched a couple of crosses. He yelled in pain but punched through Dan's chest and tore out his heart. Dan was dead. Creed growled and dropped the heart. He felt like a wild animal at the moment. He took a breath to gain more control, he didn't want to hurt anyone.

Creed stood up and jumped away from the crosses. He healed and waited to calm down. He took a deep breath. He inhaled and smelled more people. He heard them breathing. "Someone is alive! In the cave, I'm first." He didn't wait. The others followed with flashlights. They were still trying to process what just happened with Dan.

It was after midnight by now. He walked in and there were some people that were dead. The smell of blood was overwhelming. Creed took a breath. "Keep those crosses out, just in case. There's a lot of blood!" He didn't want to turn on them.

"There are people back here. Hello?" Creed listened. He heard someone asking for help. The cave opened to a large room. He gasped. There were twenty more people. They were alive but hungry. Humans. Dan had been holding them for food. What a dick. "Is everyone okay?" Creed stood up.

They all nodded. Shocked. "It's okay. We're here to help." He paused. There was a vampire here. "Which one of you is trying to fool me!" Creed growled a very low growl. "This is my place and my people. Speak now."

"It's me." A woman stood up. "I think he turned me." She was in tears and shaking.

"No! It's a trap. She's a vampire. She started..." The woman hit the human tattle tale and knocked him down.

"Shhh. The gods are talking. This is my place now." She hissed as she gave up the facade. She was pretty for a vampire.

"I don't think so," Creed growled. He was ready. They were circling each other. Creed didn't take his eyes off her.

She looked past him. "You brought me more treats. How thoughtful. I will kill you and keep them. You are so kind." She charged him then punched him. He slammed into the back of the cave, hard. A human would be dead from the blow.

Creed was mad. "Bitch!"

Creed stormed up to her. He grabbed her by the neck and tried to break it. She was a little worried because she realized that he could probably kill her. She grabbed him and tossed him across the room, away from his group. It took him a second to get up. His back looked broken and then he stood up. It was very inhuman. His growl echoed through the cave.

"Creed, you okay?" Flante asked. He was worried about Creed. Creed nodded and wiped some blood from his lips. He dove at her and knocked her down. He held her to the floor.

She was watching the humans. She licked her lips and smiled. "Police smell very tasty. Why haven't you tried them? I don't want to kill you, Creed, is it?"

"What's your name?" Creed growled. Flante thought he looked vicious.

She smiled. "Does it matter?"

"It does. When I get to hell, I'm making a special request for you when you get there." Creed smiled.

"Fine." She smirked at Creed. "Sienna. I have been a vampire for a couple of years and I like it. Found this place and it was a smorgasbord. I loved it here until you arrived and started messing things up!" She inhaled. "They smell fresh. Mine have been here awhile. They're getting stale." She made a face.

No one could tell what happened but the vampires were standing and she had blood on her face. Creed hit her at some point. They were both breathing very heavily. They traded punches and Creed blocked some. Sienna was impressed with this vampire. He was a challenge. He was clearly older.

"I'm sick of sneaking around." Sienna tried to explain things to him. He wasn't very reasonable. She was watching the new arrivals. They were really mouthwatering.

"Tough life for you." Creed hated her. "I've been here for a year. You are in my territory and I don't like to share." He growled at Sienna as he looked at Flante. If he could get a cross, it would hurt but it would hurt her too.

He held Flante's eye contact and crossed his fingers. Flante held his cross up just slightly. Creed nodded. Creed moved his fingers twice and a 'come here' motion. Flante tossed it but Sienna caught and screamed. She threw it to the wall.

"I'm not a fool, Creed." Sienna smiled.

Creed thought she would be pretty if she was so mean. Probably Killian's type. He smiled at the random thought.

He watched his people. He hoped they followed him, he nodded and they all threw one of theirs. Everyone was armed with two. She couldn't block them all, he hoped. He was right.

Creed caught two of them and charged her with everything he had left. His hands were burning but so was she. The fight had taken a lot but the crosses were taking the rest. He would need to eat soon.

Sienna fell to the floor with Creed and they were both screaming. Officers jumped in and helped. They pressed crosses to her as Flante pulled Creed back and pried the crosses from his burned hands.

Creed was done. He laid on the ground. He was too weak to move and felt the animal. The vampire was going to take over and hunt.

He watched as a person from the cave walked up and handed someone a sword. They took her head. Sienna was dust. He saw everyone turn to him and he thought he was dead too. He just laid his head down on the hard rock floor and took a breath.

Officer Flante helped Creed up. Creed had a problem. He needed to eat and there was too much blood. "I have to get out of here!" He was too weak to resist human blood for very long.

He took a step and stumbled. Someone moved to help him. "No! Don't touch me! I'm sorry. I have to go before I kill you all. I'm sorry!" He crawled and stumbled out of the cave. He flung himself off the cliff as officers followed him out of the cave. He had to get away from them, fast.

Officer Dave Flante, Todd Journey and a man named Jeff Cager took charge and got everyone out of there. They even pulled Sheriff Hornsby to town on a homemade gurney that they dragged. They made it to the station in Big Rock and everyone sat. No one talked for a while.

Hornsby would demand to know what happened when he got out of the hospital. Dave drove him and the rest of the hostages to the hospital as soon as they hit town. Hornsby was getting prepped for surgery. Some of the people were released and waited at the station. They had things to figure out.
