Caitie woke up to a bright light glaring at her.She squinted as her eyes adjusted.

She was in a hospital.The only time she was ever in the hospital was when her mom got injured on their motorcycle.Caitie laughed.

Her mother was trying to show her there was nothing to be scared about and she accidentally slipped.Luckily,her mom didn't get too hurt and was out by the next day.

The memories of the night before flooded back to her.The machine made a loud noise indicating her heart was beating fast.Was her mother ok?What happened to the fox?How long has she been out?

The door opened as a worried nurse rushed over."It's alright sweetie.Just try to relax.Your safe now."The nurse smiled making Caitie wanting to shout that everything was definitely not okay.

"Where's my mother?"Caitie said.She was surprised to hear her voice was shaking.

The nurse's smile fell."Oh sweetie,didn't they tell you?There was a car wreck and we found you unconscious,and as for your mother......"The nurse trailed off and went over to the sink in the room.

Caitie shook her head.This is not happening.My mother can't be dead.She's all I have left.What am I going to do?Caitie was not aware that her whole body was shaking.

"Dear,I need you to calm down."The nurse returned with a cup of water.That's when she couldn't handle it anymore.

"You're telling me to calm down after waking up from being unconscious,telling me my mother is dead,getting beat up by a car wreck ,and knowing I have no other relative to take care of me?"Caitie shouted till her lungs hurt.Tears fell from her eyes.The nurse stared at her.

"Calm down Miss Caitie."She squinted."Your eyes are turning rather odd.Why don't you lay down and we'll discuss this when you wake up?"The nurse flashed her perfect smile as Caitie lowered her gaze.

"Fine.But you better tell me when I wake up."The nurse smiled and closed the door as she left.Caitie wanted so much to scream,to shout why this had to happen to her.

She shook her head.I got to get out of here.I have to find out what happened.Plus, if I stay here they'll just put me in an orphanage.Caitie snorted.

She was not going to let that happen.Caitie glanced over and saw that her backpack was sitting on chair by the door.Caitie glanced around the room and slowly got up.

She grunted slightly but walked over and grabbed her backpack.There was a window on the other side of the room.It's now or never.She said and with that,Caitie opened the window.There was no turning back now.
