➼chapter 12; schedules and predictions

Serena had woken up the next morning with her warm covers thrown on the floor and a pillow laying on her face, her cheek slightly stinging where it had landed. Groaning, Serena pushed the pillow off to see Angelina Johnson standing over her bed, arms crossed. "And it only took twenty minutes to wake you up." The girl huffed, grabbing another pillow before throwing it at Alicia. "Honestly, you two'd be in bed all day if it weren't for me."
Alicia, clearly not appreciating Angelina waking her up, hurled the pillow right back at her. "Must you ruin our sleep every morning?"
Serena nodded in agreement, pulling the covers over her head again. "What Alicia said! Can't let us sleep in for once, can you?"
The girl in question yanked the covers off both girls in response. "Honestly," she muttered again, readjusting her tie in the full length mirror leaning against the wall. Pulling on her robes, Angelina leveled a sharp stare at the two still laying in bed. "I'll be in the common room waiting for you lot. You better be ready in the next five minutes, else I'll leave you both. Bye now!"
And with a final wave, Angelina left the room. Alicia looked over at Serena, the pair wanting nothing more than to snuggle back into bed. "Reckon she'll still be there in the next ten minutes?"
"Oh, for sure." Serena chuckled. "That girl never goes through with her threats."
The two reluctantly stood up from their beds and made their way toward the bathroom. After freshening up and changing into their identical robes, they walked down the stairs of the girls' dormitory. They found Angelina seated on the couch, tapping her foot on the carpeted floor. When she saw Alicia and Serena ambling over to her well after her five minute warning, Angelina quickly stood up and dragged them out of the common room. "You two are unbelievable."
The girls laughed in response. "Oh come on, you know you love us." Alicia grinned. Angelina only rolled her eyes, failing to hide her amused smile.
After finally reaching the Great Hall and walking through its large doors, Serena immediately spotted Magnolia and Ramona seated at the end of the Hufflepuff table.
"Oh shoot!" Serena said, smacking a hand on her forehead. "I'd totally forgotten I was supposed to be eating breakfast with Nolia and Mona." She looked apologetically toward Alicia and Angelina, who only shrugged. The two quidditch chasers knew who she was talking about, as their were all friends, connected through Serena.
"No problem, go ahead." Alicia waved her off, taking a seat in front of Fred, Geoge, and Lee, who were no doubt discussing ways of entering the tournament undetected. "You should get your schedule first, though."
Angelina gave her a reassuring smile as she settled in between Alicia and Katie Bell, a fellow Gryffindor fifth year they were good friends with as well.
When Katie saw Serena standing beside her, she stood up and gave her a big hug. "Serena! How has your summer been?"
The curly-haired girl returned the embrace. "It was great! And yours?"
The younger girl shrugged. "It was alright. I was pretty bummed about not being able to see the World Cup, but I hear you went! Tell me all about it later, okay?"
Serena laughed at her enthusiasm. "Alright!" As Katie sat back down, she spotted Professor McGonagall walking down the Gryffindor table, a stack of paper, their schedules, held tightly in her hands. As McGonagall passed over Ron, Harry, and Hermione, Serena finally noticed that her sister, Iyla, was no where to be found as she wasn't siting with Ginny, either. Looking at the end of the table, she finally spotted Iyla, taking animatedly with a girl across from her.
Serena couldn't quite place a name to the girl's blonde hair and green eyes, though she seemed slightly familiar. It was when Serena noticed her green robes that her eyebrows furrowed. 'What's Iyla doing with a Slytherin?'
Before she could investigate further, Serena felt a tap on the shoulder, Professor McGonagall looking down at her with a small smile. "Your schedule, Miss. Mallard."
"Thank you," Serena said as she took the paper from McGonagall, watching as she handed out her friends their own schedules before walking further down the long table. Serena sneaked a peak at the twins schedules, vaguely hearing Lee attempting to flirt with Angelina once again. "Three OWL's each, nice." She said with an approved nod.
"These were the only ones we didn't fail. I'm quite proud, actually." Fred grinned as he took a bit of his bacon.
"And I've always thought Fred and I should've got E in everything, because we exceeded expectations just by turning up for the exams." George said.
Serena laughed at that. "Well, I've got to get to Mona and Nolie, so see you lot later!"
"Wait, er, you.... you didn't show us your schedule!" Fred quickly called after the girl, who tilted her head at his odd behaviour. It was almost as if he didn't want her to go.
"I'll show you later!" Turning around, she jogged over to the Hufflepuff table, taking a seat beside Magnolia as she slammed her paper down in front of them.
"How nice of you to finally join us." Magnolia quipped lightheartedly, looking over Serena's schedule. The girl ignored her, focused on pouring her cereal into a bowl.
"Look's like we've all got double Defense Against the Dark Arts this afternoon, once on Wednesday morning. Double Potions tomorrow afternoon, and then once on Friday agin," they all winced as Ramona scanned for any more similarities. "Magnolia and I have Charms Monday and Wednesday morning, first block and.... we've got transfiguration Tuesday and Thursday morning, Serena. And then you two have Herbology."
"Seems like all our afternoon classes are different." Magnolia commented, taking a sip of her pumpkin juice.
"I love how no one has History of Magic." Serena snorted, but then pointed at Ramona. "But you're taking Divination. N.E.W.T Divination. And you," she looked toward Magnolia, "you willing signed up for Astronomy."
Magnolia flicked the girl's forehead while Ramona rolled her eyes. "No need to look so incredulous, Serena. Divination is fun! Even though Professor Trelawney can be a little... eccentric at times, she's really sweet!"
"A little eccentric? More like absolutely crazed." Serena muttered.
Ramona crossed her arms. "You're just jealous she can see into the future and you can't."
"As if. You really believe that stuff about having the 'Sight' and 'Inner Eye'? When you made me take the stupid class in our third year, she said because I was born on the 13th of October, someone would die on that day nine months later. Total rubbish."
"Why nine months?" Magnolia asked.
"Dunno, maybe because three times three is nine? Least she knows maths."
"She's still a great teacher." Ramona said. "A real Seer, too!"
"Trelawney seeing the future is as unlikely as Snape smiling. Never gonna happen."

Author's note:
Hey lovelies! I'm really sorry for posting so late, and not even a long chapter. I had a bunch of stuff to do today and didn't get a chance to write more like I wanted to :(.
Oh and so sorry for continuously updating the chapters. I'm trying to edit out the mistakes. 😊
Also, I've realised that the calendar in the Goblet of Fire does not conform with the real life 1994-1995 calendar. For example, September 1st falls on a Thursday in 1994, but in the book, it's a Monday. And so is September 2nd...
It was rather hard for me to write this chapter because of those inconsistencies, so I decided to follow the dates in Harry Potter, and only use the real world calendar for days not mentioned, if that makes sense. :) It took me forever to fully map our the girls' schedules 😭.
Until next time,
~Lena
