"Long live the queen!"

Queen Ramona sat numbly on her throne, the crown weighing heavily on her dark waves. The king was dead. It still hadn't quite sunk in but the empty throne beside her was proof. And the child sitting next to her was the cause of it. She could still recall her final moments with Alfred and they continued to play over and over in her mind.

She had just left her stepdaughter's chambers after tucking her in and was making her way to her own when she heard a scream. Ramona had ran to her chambers only to find her beloved bleeding out on the floor.

"Alfred! My love, who or what has done this?"

She'd knelt beside him and cradled him in her arms. He'd turned his paling neck to reveal two pricks no bigger than a pin's.

"A vampire! But how?"

"A vampire lives among us."

"Who is this monster?"

"Our daughter, Snow."

"Snow? I just tucked her in, she couldn't have-"

"She's a vampire. She has super speed."

Alfred had took a long, shaky breath.

"My love, my world. All I ask of you is one thing. I promised my Evangeline I would do it but I failed. Kill Snow White before she can take over our kingdom. I have faith in you, Ramona. Rid us of this vile creature once and for all."

With that all said, he'd expired. She'd  wept. She'd wept for him until her voice was hoarse. Ramona had screamed for the guards and, once they'd arrived, she'd only managed to utter one sentence to them before sobbing again.

"The king is dead."

"Long live the queen!"

Ramona found herself brought back to the present by the shouts of her subjects and the eerily cold touch of Snow's unnaturally pale hand on her own.

"Are you okay, mummy?"

She turned to the traitor.

"Yes darling. Quite."

"Long live the queen!"

At least, she would be once the brat was dead and the deaths of Evangeline and Alfred were avenged. Until then, she'd never be okay again.
