After Forever Ended

"It'll always be like this, right?" Lance smiled, leaning back on his hands. The little flower blossoms tickled his palms, gently waving in the breeze. Keith nodded to the sky and laid his hand over Lance's.

"Forever," He sighed, gently squeezing Lance's fingers as a blush dusted his pale cheeks. Lance chuckled at the cheesy line and looked at his boyfriend, who just made him so happy. Yes, they had their fights. In fact, they had just had one over who would make the best princess, but they loved each other.

And that would never change.

It hurt so badly.

His heart ached, as tears escaped from his eyes. He tried so hard to brush them away, to stop the river, he really did, but it hurt.

"Lance?" A soft voice cooed gently, and Lance looked up to see Pidge's tiny silhouette standing in the door way, "Lance, why are you crying?"

She took a tentative step forward with fear in her eyes. This wasn't like Lance, Lance didn't cry. Lance called other people crybabies, especially a certain Keith, but he didn't cry.

Lance attempted to cover it up, hastily wiping his eyes and fixing his hair. However, his nose was still red, and the tears still clung to his eyelashes. He suddenly felt so guilty- Pidge was scared for him, and she already had enough on her mind. He had to be strong, show her that he was okay and she need not worry.

"I- It's okay, Pidge. I'm fine," He lied through his teeth.

The young girl froze like a deer in headlights. What was she to do? What it a mistake to come in here when Lance was so vulnerable? Should she comfort him? Leave now? Her thoughts were clouded, but she finished closing the distance between them. Pidge sat on down next to him, awkwardly wrapping an arm around him and patting his back. She was no good at this- computers were her thing, not people.

"Really, don't worry about me," More lies. This time, Pidge realized it, her expression becoming much more foul, almost disgusted.

She scrunched up her nose, as if she had caught wind of a terrible stench, "Clearly something is wrong. Is it you and Keith?" While Pidge had not been particularly fond of the two getting together as more than friends, she was supportive nonetheless. With their arguments, they needed it.

Slouching and leaning his head on her shoulder in a rather uncomfortable way, Lance sighed as he said, "No, I just- well, you see it...  Fine. Yes. Yes, we had a fight. Could you just leave me alone now? I don't want to talk about it," His tone gained an annoyed edge, and he sat up quickly. Lance normally felt bad even calling Pidge short. The rock in his stomach was only weighed down by the guilt of so coldly pushing her away when she tried to help him.

"I- I, uh, just wanna, you know, help," Pidge responded, raising her hand to pat him again.

Lance glared at her, "Good bye, Pidge."

And at that, Pidge stumbled out of the room, leaving Lance alone by himself...

Again.
