Feeling

"Breaking news! A person was claimed missing today at 11:03 in the morning. His name is Kristof Morgan, average build at a height of 5'9, green eyes. He was last seen wearing what appeared to be a gray shirt, black pants, and a blue sweatshirt with hiking boots. If anyone can give the whereabouts to this man, please contact the family at-"

The channel was changed to MTV, where an old episode of The Office was playing. Rutherford yawned. It had been one of the longest shifts he had to endure. He was exhausted, memory foggy. He couldn't remember much and he was way overdue for a bowl of cereal before heading to his class. But here he was, tired, bored, and chuckling at a joke Steve Carrell would make every so often.

"Try my gookie gookie!"

He couldn't help but crack a smile watching Mindy Kaling bitch slap the hell out of Steve and storm off.

He didn't know why but it made him hard.

He slowly reached down his pants, drool settling into the corner of his mouth.

But before anything could really take hold, there was a knock on his apartment door. He groaned with annoyance as he took his hand out of his pants, got up, walked over, and opened the door.

"Look, man, I don't know what you're deal is but-"

"Come in," Ruth said, his voice oozing exhaustion.

"Oh," Henry replied, "that's your deal." He seemed a little awkward hearing his friend's tired voice, slowly making his way into the apartment. "I'm.. sorry. I didn't realize you didn't have a good rest."

"And you did?"

"Well, not exactly, but you do realize you're 5 minutes late to cl-"

"Just sit down. Let's take the day off. It's a Friday for Christ's sake."

And in the span of 2 minutes, both were sat on the couch watching The Office, a large bowl of cool ranch Doritos in between them.

"So, did you hear what happened?" Henry finally asked as the characters played along with Steve's own version of Diversity Day.

"About what?"

"You know," Henry prompted before continuing. "The missing person."

Rutherford seemed a little on edge but nodded. "Yes. I did. That's why we're watching Diversity Day right now. It was just.." he paused for a moment. "..too much to bear."

Henry nodded, though he felt uneasy. It wasn't as common as it was back in the 80's when people were lost and went missing left and right. Honestly, it was a miracle they didn't end up missing with the lack of concern for children. But still, it didn't sit right in his stomach. Though instead of trying to wrap his head around it, he just focused on the show.

At some point during the day, Henry ended up asleep in Rutherford's arms, his head resting tiredly on his shoulder. Rutherford turned off the show and glanced down at his friend. A soft snoring could be heard, and the only noise that filled his ears was the continuous thumping of Henry's heart.

How simple it would be.

How incredibly easy.

Rutherford tore his gaze from his friend's, holding him close as he dug back into the bowl of Doritos, and settled in for the long wait before Henry would wake up again.
