try not to get expelled
☼ ☼ ☼
Andi pursed her lips as she walked down the hall toward Principal Morita's office. She should've known skipping school the previous day would've gotten her into trouble, but she was so focused on the mission that the consequences of skipping school were the last thing on her mind, but now the thought of getting into trouble made her a tad bit angry. She was an extraordinary student, one of the school's brightest sophomores, and while she knew she deserved some sort of punishment, she felt she'd already received enough punishment from Tony the previous day.
Principal Morita's office door opened as she approached it, and she watched as Peter made his way out. He looked at her and let out a breath. He'd not been expecting Andi to get in trouble along with him, but from what he could remember of their time together, neither one of them could get into trouble without the other. They were a packaged deal now, or so it seemed, which meant whatever happened to one happened to the other.
Ned was sitting outside of Principal Morita's office as well, waiting on Peter, Andi assumed.
"Good luck," Peter said to Andi with a small smile on his face. It was still very obvious he was upset due to the events of the weekend, but the sight of Andi was more than capable of putting even the smallest of smiles on his face.
"We'll wait out here for you," Ned told her. "Try not to get expelled, okay?"
"I'll do my best, Ned," Andi chuckled and made her way into Morita's office.
Morita looked over at her and smiled, gesturing her to sit down after she shut the door behind her. "Andromeda," he greeted her.
"Andi, please."
"Alright, Andi." Morita sat back in his seat, twirling his pen around in his hands. "This is the first time you've been in here, which is actually a good thing. It means you're a good student who rarely ever gets into trouble, if at all, and from what I can see of your record, you're one of the school's best and brightest students."
"That would be correct."
"So, tell me why you decided to make the mistake of skipping school to hang out with Peter Parker?" he questioned her.
Andi wanted so badly to roll her eyes, but she had to remember she was speaking with one of her authority figures. She could've been sick and they wouldn't have cared, which was the way most schools treated their students as of recently. It made her miss being homeschooled, but for the sake of living a normal teenage life, homeschool would never be an option for her again.
"Maybe I was sick," Andi shrugged. "Sometimes these things happen, and Peter being the very good friend he is decided to take care of me, because guess what? I don't have anyone else to."
Morita raised a brow at the blonde. "You don't have parents or siblings to take care of you?"
"Nope."
"Then who do you live with?"
"My exceedingly busy aunt, who is rarely ever home," Andi lied to him. Of course, she did live with her aunt, but while her aunt remained upstate tending to the needs of the Avengers and Stark Industries, Andi couldn't exactly stay with her. She couldn't tell Morita that, though.
"I'm sorry to hear that," Morita apologized. "But next time you're sick, I would advise having your aunt call the school and alerting us to the reason behind your absence, and if you'll pass that message along to Peter, I would appreciate that."
Andi nodded and stood up. "So, are we done here?"
"Not quite," Morita answered.
Andi let out a huff and sat back down.
"I'm gonna give you detention," Morita informed Andi, much to her disconcert. "It's only for today, and it's only because of the simple fact we weren't alerted to the reason behind your absence. You're a good kid from what I can tell, so I hope in the future we won't need to meet like this again."
"Yes, sir."
"Keep up the good work, Miss Andrews," Morita said. "You're free to go."
Andi got up without another word and made her way out of his office. Peter and Ned were still waiting outside for her, and both stood up the moment she shut the door behind her.
"So, are you expelled?" Ned asked as the three of them started down the hall.
"No," Andi answered. "I do have detention, however."
"Peter's lucky he didn't get expelled with all the shit he's been pulling," Ned chuckled. "First he ditched the decathlon and now he's got you ditching to help him catch a parrot. Look, I don't even care, I just can't believe that I'm best friends with two of the coolest people in Queens."
Andi smiled and looked at Ned. "You're such a fanboy."
"How can I not be?" Ned exclaimed. "You're Recluse and Spider-man!"
"Why don't you say it a little bit louder for the people in the back?" Peter chastised him.
"Sorry," Ned apologized. "I just can't believe this is my life."
"Neither can I," Andi replied with a clap to Ned's shoulder. "Now, can we get to Spanish class before Peter and I get into even more trouble for skipping?"
"Gladly."
The three of them took off through the halls.
The day was over. Andi was at her locker, ridding herself of the heavy burden that were her textbooks. She was doing it as slowly as possible to prevent from being in detention longer than she needed to be. She'd never had detention before, but from what she knew about it, she knew it was not something she was ready to experience. Detention was boring, and Andi hated being bored. Luckily for her, she'd brought one of her many science books with her to school. She hoped that would hold her over until the conclusion of the day.
Just as Andi was placing her last book into her locker, the door shut rather abruptly. Her phenomenal reflexes allowed her to remove her hand quickly to prevent injury, but her agitation was not so easily prevented. She looked over to find the culprit was Peter, who stood in front of Ned. He had a strange expression on his face, one that Andi could make out as anxious, but she was not worried about that at the moment. She was worried about the fact he'd nearly cut her hand off.
"What the hell made you think that was even remotely okay?" Andi scolded the boy.
"We share reflexes," Peter told her seriously. He stepped toward her and grabbed her by the shoulders, pushing her gently back into the lockers. "I need your help."
Andi furrowed her brows at him and removed his hands from her shoulders. "With what?"
"He's going to homecoming with Liz," Ned blurted.
Andi stopped and looked at Ned before shifting her focus back on Peter, who she really wanted to punch in the face. "You're going to homecoming with Liz?"
Peter groaned and ran a hand over his face. "Listen, I panicked, and I'm sorry."
"Wait, why do you care that he's going to homecoming with Liz, and why does he care that you care?" Ned questioned the two. "It's not like you two have finally admitted your undying love for each other."
Peter and Andi only stared at Ned, which answered the question that was never meant to be answered in the first place. When the realization hit, his eyes lit up and he smiled widely.
"You guys did, didn't you?" Ned exclaimed happily. "Then why are you going to homecoming with Liz instead of Andi, you idiot?"
"I dunno," Peter shrugged. "She asked me to go with her and I wanted to say no, but I got nervous and panicked, so I just said yes. I'm sorry, Andi, I wanted to go with you, and I was gonna ask you later on if you would go with me, but—"
"Shut up," Andi laughed. "I'm not mad at you."
"You're not?" Peter asked with glistening eyes.
Andi smiled and shook her head, wrapping her arm around Peter's shoulders. "We're not exactly official, and Ned asked me to go with him a long time ago."
"It's true," Ned confirmed with a nod.
"When did this happen?" Peter asked.
"The night we decided to start building the Death Star," Andi answered. "Remember when you were getting yourself into trouble chasing after runaway bikes and churros?"
"Don't remind me."
"Well, we had a whole conversation about how ridiculous you act towards Liz, which only led to talk of you asking her to homecoming, and since Ned and I knew we wouldn't have dates, we just decided to go with each other," Andi explained to him.
"Interesting, interesting," Peter hummed. "Next year you're mine, though."
"I wouldn't want it any other way," Andi assured him. "I do have to get to detention, though, so I'll see you later, Ned, and I'll see you in a little bit, Peter."
Andi smiled at Ned and kissed Peter on the cheek before running off to detention. Peter watched with a smile on his face as she strolled away, nothing on his mind but how lucky he was to have her.
