Chapter Twenty-Five

12/25/19

It was strange to think that now I was no longer a virgin. I thought I'd do it to seal the deal. It's something he's always wanted. Now that that was done, he won't question if I love him or not. AND now, I could start plotting his demise. The T.V was still on, so I grabbed the remote and turned it off, then I rolled out of bed and headed for the shower, my sister was getting married soon and I couldn't be more excited! As I was showering, I thought back to last night, after doing the deed, we hadn't wanted to go back down, so we just lay in bed, caressing each other watching the T.V which was playing The Simpsons. Lyric never came to find us and I didn't mind. We had both fallen asleep with the T.V on.

After a quick rinse, I put on a black sweater dress and snuck down the stairs to the kitchen. Diego was down there making pancakes, he turned my way as I entered. He looked very disheveled and tired.

"Good morning." He whispered.

"Hi. Have you been up for a while?"

"Yeah, I guess I'm just nervous." He admitted sheepishly.

"Understandable, I mean you're getting married today." He smiled and flipped two pancakes onto the plate.

"You hungry?"

"Always." I replied, grabbing a plate as he put three on the plate and doused it with Syrup.

"So, where did you and Thomas end up last night?"

"Well, we went to the beach and hung out for awhile. Then we were kind of tired from the plane ride so we went to bed." I half lied.

"For real?" He asked, lifting an eyebrow. I'm sure my cheeks were turning pink by now.

"Yes. I'm s-"

"Good morning!" My sister singsonged.

"Morning baby." Diego said as they kissed. I focused on my plate as their kiss brought back memories of last night.

"So, where did you guys go off to last night?" Lyric asked as she sat next to me

"We went to the beach and then to bed."

"For reals" She asked, looking between me and Diego.

"She's serious."

"Girl, you're in the most romantic place, and you're telling me nothing happened last night between yuu and Tommy?"

"I'm sure." She squinted her eyes at me, but then she and Diego defulged into a conversation. I finished up my food and headed outside to the swing. The air was warm and sweet smelling with flowers. The chair rocked back and I braced myself as I turned to see that Thomas had come to sit.

"Hi." He said, his eyes sparkling in the sun

"Hi."

"How are you feeling this morning?"

"Quite well, you?"

"Just perfect." He grabbed my hand and massaged it.

"It's sad to think that we're leaving tomorrow."

I know. So, let's make the best out of today."

"What did you have in mind?"

"Surfuring, shopping, napping."

"Sounds wonderful."

"Good, come on, let's go change."

"Okay." We wandered back inside, told Diego and Lyric our plan. They decided to join us too. Lyric didn't care if she spent time with Diego, she said that the whole you can't see the groom before the wedding was a bunch of baloney. Once down at the beach, Diego opened up the umbrellas and set out the towels. Lyric placed a boom box and began to play some pop music. Nex we all grabbed a surfboard and headed out to the clear crystal water.

The water was surprisingly not as cold as I thought it was going to be. It was cool to the touch, but underneath it was warm. Looking down into its depths I saw just how vibrant it was. Of course, there was the fear of a shark coming, but Diego reassured us that we were going to be safe and that no harm would come to us. After two hours of swimming and tanning we head inside to take our showers, Diego let us girls go first, you may think it's weird and creepy, but Lyric and I showered together in the shower that had the two nozzles one on either side of the shower. After showering, we changed and got ready to go out and visit the town.

The town was beautiful and bustling with life, when we arrived back home, our wallets weighed less and we were all hot and sweaty, we had a few more hours before the wedding, so we went swimming again. Then after swimming, we took shoes again. Lyric and I wandered outside to warm up in the sun. Lyric poured us some white wine and we made ourselves comfortable on the benches in the garden

"You nervous at all?" I asked her as I tucked my bare feet underneath me.

"Um I mean no. I'm just nervous I'll mess up and make a fool out of myself." She admitted. I chuckled

"Arn't we all going to be?"

"Yeah. Say, when are you and Tommy gonna get hitched?"

"Oh, I don't know. I don't think it will happen anytime soon." I replied, shrugging my shoulders as I looked out onto the horizon.

"Why not?"

"Um I don't know. I-I-I guess I'm not ready to settle down yet and I'm not sure he is either. That's all." I dared a look at her. She held no emotion as she looked at me, her wine glass in hand.

"Fair enough. I just better be the first one to know if he propresses." She says taking a sip. I tip my head back and laugh.

"Of course you will. After all, you're going to be my maid of honor."

"Good. I hope so." Diego and Thomas came out and joined us. We made light conversation, then at 3:30, we started getting everything ready for the wedding. Setting up the altar on the beach, the rows of chairs underneath the gold colored tent. The tiki lights creating a path for the bride to walk through. The platform in front of the alter for them to stand on as they said their vows.

Flower crowns for all the bridesmaids. Mine was made of palm leaves with one pink flower in the front. Then Lyric and I headed inside to get ready. Two of Diego's cousins came early to be ushers. Lyric pulled on her white dress that went to ankles, there were pink diamonds along the waistline all the way around. Her hair piled into a mop of curlyness. Her makeup light and airy. Her bare feet painted royal blue.

Next, I slipped on my hi-lo Silver Sage dress that flowed beautifully when I walked. Next we painted my nails white with pink along the front. My sister called tem french toes just like french nails. After that, we did my hair in a half fish tail and straightened it so that my hair flowed past my breasts. Lyrics bridesmaids came rushing through the door, the makeup artist arrived and started doing their makeup. I did each of the girls' hair. Then they slipped into their dresses which were an ombre of dark grey on top followed by a purple color on the bottom. The materials of the dress were made of tulle, rhinestone, elastic silk like satin, pongee. There were excited gasps as we took pictures and all gushed about one another's dresses. There was a knock on the door I went and opened it a crack.

"Hey babe, were ready to start."

"Okay. Meet you down there." I blew him a kiss. He caught it and placed it on his lips. I turned back to the girls "Alright ladies! Let's go!" we all shrieked. Then making sure everyone was out, we made our downstairs to where our escorts were waiting. The music played and Thomas and I walked through the tiki lights, the sand was cool underneath my feet which helped cool my anxiety from being this much in the center of attention. He kissed my cheek and then stood beside Diego, they smiled cheekily at each other. The rest of the girls filed down, then Lyrics song began to play and I must admit, a tear rolled down my cheek at the sight of her walking boldly down the aisle by herself with her head held high.

The ceremony had gone off without a hitch, the newly weds, and the bridesmaids and groomsmen and me sat at the front table, looking absolutely radiant. It felt odd to be the one looking out at the sea of faces of unknown people. Thomas squeezed my hand, I looked at him and he smiled at me. Dinner finished and we all made our way out to the dance floor. Lyric had her dance with Diego, it was short but sweet. Then the DJ began to play upbeat music which everyone cheered and filed onto the dance floor. I stood at the edge of it, watching Lyric smile giddily. I know she was at home here, something I didn't feel. Thomas appeared at my side, he leaned towards my ear

"Everything okay?"

"Yeah, just a bit overwhelmed."

"I can fix that." He replied with a wink. And I knew what that wink meant. I smiled childishly at him. It must have been the alcohol that made me want to go with him again. But we soon found ourselves back in the bedroom with our clothes off.
