Chapter Three

I pull her up and get her into the car. I seat belt her in then peel away from the bar. I turn slightly towards her,

"Did Diego leave you?"

"Noooo, someone else. He told me to meet him. So I did, then he got one look at me and left because I am so ugly." She burst out crying again . I stayed quiet the rest of the way home. Arriving home, we went inside, she plopped down on the couch. I pulled a blanket around her and made her some coffee which was her favorite thing to drink when she was upset.

"I'm sorry Lyric."

"It's okay I guess." She sniffled and blew her nose. Then she turned on the T.V. a dumb cartoon was playing. I checked the clock it was 10:00. I had to go to practice.

"I'm so sorry, but I have to go to practice." She looked up at me, her eyes brimming with tears

"Do you have to?" I looked at her puffy eyes. I could skip for one day.

"No, I'll call in. While I'm doing that, you can order pizza." She smiled and bounced off the couch to get the phone. Yes we still had a landline. Why? I don't know.

Sure I had been mad at Victoria earlier, but I wasn't now, with my belly full of mac N cheese and her head in my lap, I forgave her. She hadn't meant to make us late, I don't know what Blade thinks he's going to accomplish by punishing us. Things happen it's not our fault if were late. We could have left super early and still have been late. But I'm not going to dwell on it, we have the day off and were just going to chill and hang out. I turn off the T.V, she rolls over on her back

"Why'd you do that?"

"Because we are going on an adventure." She sat up

"Where?"

"Somewhere."

"Go change, I'll wait for you out here." She giggled and raced to the bedroom. The one thing to make her feel better was to take her shopping. No matter how much pain I was in, I wasn't going to let it stop me from giving her joy. He went into his room and pulled on a white shirt with a black blazer and dark tan dress pants with black Chelsea Boots. He combed back his hair then walked out into the living room just as Victoria came back in wearing a black mini skirt and a blue sparkly crop top with gold strappy heels.

"I'm ready." She gleamed and grabbed his hand. They walked out to his grey bugatti. He cranked open the window and blasted the bass, they drove the back roads so that he could go over the speed limit. They went to the first store, he sat for hours while she tried on clothes. When they left she had five bags in tow with her. Next they went to a couple bars to get drunk and dance the day away.

I was glad that Devin had decided to stay, I know how important the cello is to her. I felt kind of bad, but also I needed to be with someone that knows me really well. And no one knows me like my sister does. I had ordered the pizza and then had gone and changed into pajamas, the ugly kind that I only where when I'm with family. The kind where you button the shirt and you wear matching pants. Mine was teal. After Devin had called her instructor, I heard her go into her room, she came down a moment later wearing her ugly pajamas. Bright yellow.

She flings a pillow into my lap. She lays down with her head in my lap and hands me her hair brush. It's something that we used to do when we were little. I grab pieces of her hair and brush it out, I hadn't realized how long it was. Her hair was flowing down her back, almost touching her butt. Mine on the other hand was just below my breasts. I had always envied her hair, it was straight, whereas mine was curly and took forever to straighten. I did a dutch braid in her hair, something that had always looked beautiful on her. We switched, she brushed my hair so genty I never felt her, I fell asleep as she was doing my hair.

I was glad that Lyric had made me stay home. It felt nice to just chill, I hadn't done a lot of relaxing. I was always on the go with my orchestra performing all over the place. And I hadn't gotten a chance to really hang out with her. Gently sliding out from under her, I went into the laundry room to catch up on laundry, since she was never home because she was out partying and I was always on the road, it had gotten quite piled up. With the clothes in the washer, I went curled up in the rocker, and opened up my book. I would make sure to ask Lyric if she wanted to go out tonight. I could do it for one night.

Victoria and I were going from bar to bar, just like we had planned. She wanted to do a challenge of who could drink the most shots. I didn't want to say no to the challenge, so I agreed. We were now at our favorite bar. The music is loud and there's people all over. The bar is lit only by disco balls. Were on the dance floor, she's got a drink in her hand is laughing like crazy, but only because she's so plastered. She had won every challenge. Mostly because I don't like to get drunk and someone has to get us home. The music from the speakers shut off. A band starts to play, but their voices are awful, we make fun of them. My phone rings, I leave her and go outside. I look down at the screen, there's no Id given, but I answer it anyways.

"Hello?"

"Hi brother..."
